- What a beautiful song! The melody was soft and profound. The vocals were soothing and they lead you into the music. The guitar solo followed the path of the vocals to where everything is heartfelt and meaningful. The music expresses Love and internal gratitude which truly made me think of the Love the we give our parents, friends and relatives . I apologize for crying, this song brought me wonderful memories of my godfather, Nino Tom. It felt beautiful being able to remember him while the song lasted. He'd always watch our livestreams and he was our biggest supporter. May our fiends, family, and RUclips family continue to spread love. . " I will always love you... Nino Tom!"

I'm a metal head & I mostly listen to metal and go to metal concerts, BUT I did see The Cure in NOLA in 1989 supporting this album "Disintegration" and they were fantastic....memorable experience.

Ah ladies, I remember when I discovered The Cure. i had moved and started a job in a bakery. On Saturdays the girl who worked the counter who was a huge fan played a double sided cassette tape (ask your dad about those lol) of nothing but The Cure. This was about 1988.

This song it's was written and dedicated to his highschool girlfriend who actually became his wife. Is a simply ballad but is a masterpiece at the same time. My absolute favorite band! Great choice for reaction! My favorite song of theirs is Cold (dark song great lyrics) favorite happy song Catch. They are geniuses at getting the listeners to feel feelings of joy, happiness, silliness, romance and darkness and despair.
The Cure have so many hit songs. One of the best pop/rock bands of the 80s and early 90s. Inbetween Days, Boys Don't Cry, Love Cats and Friday I'm in Love are a must.

Soooo glad you liked so many aspects to this classic. I didn't see it mentioned by anyone in my quick look at the comments: like you said on a personal level it can apply however fits to someone you love/have connection with....
But to the making, itself, extra to the romance was it was about/to his to-be wife as a wedding gift. The band toured a great deal so they were apart for sometimes extended periods and the two over more than a decade together at that point had, of course, their ups and downs (they're now in their 60s and very much in love after 40+ years together... she was grinning massively when at the event of The Cure being put into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame). He wanted her to know what it said with their lifestyle for the upcoming wedding.

Perfect exemple of light pop song by The Cure, They are very versatile, but their best stuffs were very doomed and dark, try songs like One hundred years, The figurehead or Cold and Splintered in her head for knowing why they are calling Goth godfather, for emotionnal and atmospheric songs try A strange day, All cats are grey or Charlotte sometimes, for their best pop song try In between days, Close to me or Just like heaven !

They are a generous band. I’ve seen them twice. That’s over 7 hours of live music by amazing band of humans.

I can't count the times the memories stirred by listening to the Cure have resulted in tears streaming down my face even while I felt happy. I don't know. I always felt different about this song. It's easily one of my favorites from them, but the song seems to have a more haunting sound to me. Like he's expressing his love for someone he is no longer with, but there's kind of a sadness or a darkness inside him because she's no longer there. That's just my thoughts on this song. Well done ladies!
