A fun fact about Robert Smith, he gives full songwriting credit to EVERYONE who performs on a song. You play tambourine for 5 seconds and the song becomes a hit.. You get a paycheck. Most honest dude in the industry.
“A Letter To Elise” deals with heartbreak. “Pictures Of You” is another romantic masterpiece. “Fascination Street” is dark with an ominous bass line. “Friday I’m In Love” is a lighthearted pop song. #TheCure
Inbetween Days is my fav song from the Cure. Love Cats, Boys Don't Cry and Friday I'm in Love are great too. Can't go wrong with The Cure. They have so many good songs.
Robert Smith (and the band members as well) are masterful songwriters, he can manage such perfect song structures, melodies and lyrics that upon first listen you just fall in love with
#thecure Another Smith wrote the romance of with his wife in mind (though he's also said all of his songs are "somehow about Mary" even if they aren't a direct reference, just because she's such a key part of his life since school) mixed with a story he'd read. The woman dancing in the video is his wife. The Cure over the decades ranged from post-punk, poppy new-wave, alt rock, ambient and other genres over the decades. Robert tends, in general, to either right highly romantic or highly painful lyrics regardless of the music style they are on. The song Disintegration has a long musical portion and is the title track of the album with Lovesong on it. It's one of the (IMO) beautiful musically but gut-wrenching lyrically ones. On a lighter note, Let's Go To Bed is another upbeat bouncy style sound from them. Soooo love you two are liking. As much as I absolutely adore and get buried in other bands/artists at times The Cure has been my favorite since my teens.
Great to see you reacting to a song I suggested in the comments from your last Cure video and I'm happy you liked it. If you want to check out more of their romantic songs then you should check out Friday I'm in Love, Inbetween Days or Pictures of You. But the Cure rabbit hole is much deeper than that since they made so many different songs throughout the four decades of their existence. You might try out some of their new wave stuff (The Walk, Let's Go to Bed), songs from their gothic phase (A Forest, The Hanging Garden) and if you check out live clips from them I strongly recommend songs like Disintegration or From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea, two epic song monsters that you'll love as well. And there are loads more.
I would strongly and vigorously contend that this is the best instrumental intro to any pop song. The way each each instrument kicks in I find totally magical.its utter genius. The joy on the girls faces reflects perfectly how I feel about it. Brilliant. An absolute tour de force.
Robert Smith one of the great composers. Just like Lennon McCartney he has the ability to write a catchy pop song with every single hook in the book and then able to compose a piece of music which is thought provoking stirring darker emotions.
I'm 64 and it warms my heart to see young people enjoying the music I listened to back in the day. I've been following The Cure's music for over 30 years now. Never get tired of listening. You have to react to Lullaby. One of my favorites.
One thing I love about The Cure is that they can express the feeling of longing by sound. Everyone knows what longing feels like. The Cure gave a very special and unique sound to it. You can feel it. They did it true.
Love the pureness of this reaction. It's amazing that this song hits people differently. Your reaction was "that was so cute" and when I heard it for the first time in the 90s my first reaction was "damn that was devastating.' Beautiful, but bleak. Finding oneself alone above a raging sea with the understanding the greatest love a man could possibly have may have just been a passing dream. The song brought in such gorgeous sadness that it made me feel alive and cherish the moment. That's the Cure in a nutshell for me. You should listen to The Cure's "This Twilight Garden" or 'From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea" for cuts that feel like sequels to 'Just Like Heaven'
Another 80's classic which blows the socks off of most of the music produced and released today. Nice to see you as the younger generation appreciating this amazing music , so many great artists and songs around in this decade , the talent around in the music industry at this time was insane. Keep up the great work girls , your reviews are always interesting to watch.
The iconic guitar riff is by Porl (Pearl) Thompson, who was also Robert's brother-in-law for a while. Porl used to date Robert's sister, then they got married, but unfortunately they're divorced now. Porl was the local guitar hero when they were teenagers, so really helped get the band going. He's been in and out of the band a few times. Currently he doesn't play with them.
One of the brilliant thing Robert Smith does is begin songs with layers introduced. One after another. It really makes the listen focus on all parts. Amazing.
I saw the original 3 piece Cure in 1983 at The Narrabeen Sands Hotel on Sydney's Northern Beaches. It was a surreal experience. The Cure have a vast music catalogue for people to explore. They are a unique music entity. Robert Smith is a real GOD!
First time watching a reaction by you two ladies, and I was very impressed ! .. You both had a great feel for the music and lyrics, and noticed things that many others would miss, such as the individual introductions to the various instruments at the start .. And that comment about how this song would be what falling in love sounds like was just brilliant .. Loved this ! .. Cheers, Wayne
The Cure has many great songs. Check out and react to "Fascination Street", "Letter To Elise" , "Pictures Of You", "In Between Days", "10:15 Saturday Night", "A Forest", "Fire in Cairo" and "Halo" to mention a few. Guarantee you will like them all. They have many, many other great songs you should check out as well. Hall Of Fame Band.
Ive been watching you on and off for some years I think. What I always notice your openmindedness and the obvious musicality you both possess from the get go
Love, and enjoy watching you two young Ladies, enjoying music from the time I was your age!! You 2 are beautiful human beings, raised with appreciation for ALL Music. 👊🏻😁😘❤️🤟
Another magical tune by The Cure 😇🙌🏻 so glad you enjoyed it!!! Hugs and stay unique ladies 🤍² lots of love Mia & Juliet!!! Btw hope you feels better by now Juliet 😃 abrazos!!! PD: Can't wait to see your reactions to Pictures Of You, Friday I'm In love, In between days, ... or the darkest songs like Siamesses Twins, a 100 years, burn, etc ... #TheCure
Robert Smith didn't follow the music sequence like most songs go by, that is why you hear all the instruments that are playing and get that awesome sound from them. I'm glad that your generation is still keeping them around and enjoying their music. I discovered The Cure in 84', I have loved their music since. We took our little girl, at 6yrs old, to see them in concert.... she loved it.
Robert is so dedicated to his wife, Mary. On the album, Wish, he thanks her. But unless you know about her, you will miss is, because he simply says "M." But he also quotes Shelly, saying, from Ode to a Skylark, "our sweetest songs are those that tell of saddest thought." I have a with this quote because of The Cure.
#theCure Lullaby, you will LOVE it! If you want a song that's amazing but not as popular the song "Sinking" is one of my all time favorites from the Cure. I see a lot of people just sort of giving you the same old typical songs other RUclipsrs always react to like "Boys Don't Cry or Pictures of You. Friday I'm in Love. You are only seeing the happy, lovey dovy side of the Cure with these songs. They have a much Darker side I would love to see your reaction to.
It is so interesting to see the reaction to these songs so many years after they came out. I remember the only place you could hear these songs was on MTV's 120 minutes which was on Sunday nights when no one was watching. The songs were unapologetically romantic and weird at a time when metal and Madonna were mainstream.
One of my favourite bands. After Punk there was New Wave. What The Cure can do , happy but sad feeling. If you wake up, riding the car of have a party, The Cure is bounding music....
So lovely seeing you discovering The Cure. I love this band for more than 35 years now - you should check out more. Please react to the Live Version of "The Edge From The Deep Green Sea". :-) Love and peace from Germany!
Ohh man you girls should listen to another great tune from them! “Pictures of you” what beautiful song that is! My wife just love that song! They’re definitely one of the greatest gothic band that came out from the 80s! They just have so many great music! Love them! Great reaction girls!👏😎👍and please! Listen to “Pictures of you”
Good reaction!!! I love The Cure since forever! My vote for next reaction is: Fascination Street

But be careful, girls! Listen to The Cure is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get. You can find heart-warmed songs like the ones you reacted to, but also others like "The kiss", or "The figurehead", or "A forest", that are kind of depressive, dark, or even aggressive. And that's The Cure magic! They can play anything and we'll love them!
Always makes my heart leap,to see the younger generation introduced to the cure. The lovecats, hot hot hot, a letter to Elise or Friday I'm in love ✌🤘⭐🖤
Yepp... The Cure are a "Happy-Sad" band, falling in love and breaking up at the same time in their music =) It's how they are described by the main character's brother in the masterpiece motion picture Sing Street, watch it asap if you love music!
Welcome to goth. Great reaction. Glad you both liking the cure. Listen to : Boys don't cry In between days Lullaby Fascination street Last 2 songs are slower and darker sound.
"if falling in love had a sound" WOW!!! that is one of if not the best descriptions every made to a song!
that's the 80s ♥
@@andydkid yes I think so too. Pure , almost childlike innocence. Absolutely beautiful ❤️
A fun fact about Robert Smith, he gives full songwriting credit to EVERYONE who performs on a song. You play tambourine for 5 seconds and the song becomes a hit.. You get a paycheck. Most honest dude in the industry.
So why the fallout with Simon, I wonder.
As do Coldplay.
Damn. Songwriters always get the biggest paychecks and almost never want to give credit away.
The world doesn't deserve Robert Smith
I’m baffled at the horn he used in “close to me” and the horn he plays. Does anyone have a bloody idea ????
One of the greatest pop songs ever written, period.
"If falling in love had a sound...." Brilliant, brilliant comment. I hope the boys saw that. :)
I photographed Robert back in the 90s and he was an absolute delight...a really lovely person. An extraordinary talent.
I love how you're discovering some of the old classic bands... brings back memories! Keep up the great work!
“If falling in love had a sound, that would be it” - nailed it.
The Cure is not a band, but a feeling
The Cure Are Legendary Music Icons With A Huge Catalog Of Great Music That Is Well Worth Your Time Exploring..TRUTH!!

honey, you just totally nailed The Cure! couldn't have said it better myself

wow....🖤
“A Letter To Elise” deals with heartbreak. “Pictures Of You” is another romantic masterpiece. “Fascination Street” is dark with an ominous bass line. “Friday I’m In Love” is a lighthearted pop song. #TheCure
This is why in the South Park world Robert Smith of The Cure is a superhero.
"Disintigration is the greatest album ever".
When you described it as the sound of falling in love, i've never heard a better description!
"If falling in love had a sound, I think that would be it" is simply a brilliant statement.
Love from Germany
P.S.: Great reaction (of course). 🙂
That was perfect, if falling in love had a sound that will be what it’s like.
This is in my top 10 favourite 80s hits. The Cure are amazing.
#thecure "plain Song" and/or "Pictures of You", are very beautiful-haunting songs! keep up the good reactions girls! ImL
You young ladies are some of the smartest and genuine reactors to this song. Keep up the good work.
Inbetween Days, Pictures of You, Friday I'm in Love, Close to me, Lullaby #TheCure
Inbetween Days is my fav song from the Cure. Love Cats, Boys Don't Cry and Friday I'm in Love are great too. Can't go wrong with The Cure. They have so many good songs.
End song is as good as anything.......so many brilliant songs on the albums are rarely mentioned........
For young girls, you guys really get the depth of the vibe of the music! Great Job!
Glad to see new fans. I've been a fan of The Cure since 1982.
All their music is wonderful, it just captures you and doesn't let go. They're still amazing in concert!! Hope you get to see them❤
Genius... Masters of beautiful bittersweet melancholy. More please!
Pictures of you and A Letter to Elise will def make you smile!!
"PICTURES OF YOU (Extended Version)" by far my favourite song by The Cure, and yes ! It's a love song... #TheCure
"Lullaby" is a great Cure song with a creepy video. Their song "Burn" for the movie The Crow is excellent.
Robert Smith (and the band members as well) are masterful songwriters, he can manage such perfect song structures, melodies and lyrics that upon first listen you just fall in love with
What does Simon's "Badwolf", flag denote..........?
@@williamwilkes9873 not sure actually, good question
My wifes niece was having a 14th birthday, and I didnt know what to get her, so.i bought her a copy of the Cure's Disintegration. NAILED IT!

A great jazzy tune
Robert and Mary were on vacation in England, at thesouth sea, when he wrote this. They've been together for 50 years and married 35 years.
