Robert Smith is married to his high school girlfriend and he would miss her terribly when the band toured and this was the inspiration for a lot of his songs.
That's true love, Great Robert And Mary.I ♥️♥️ them
Yes and they actually chose not to have kids partly so she would be able to travel with him and they wouldn’t be apart as much. ♥️
I love The Cure so so much and Robert Smith (lead singer/song writer) even more. He has been with his wife for 33 years. All of his love songs are about her 🥺❤️
Isn’t it 50 they dated since age 14
Yep
this song is absolutely a teen dream. its one of the most beautiful songs ever written really. its like be my baby or wouldnt it be nice- dreamy pop songs that lift you into this space that like bj says is kind of happy but kind of melancholy which is exactly the cure's wheelhouse.
very astute comment. And bang on.
I love to watch the facial expressions of people when they first hear this song. It has a magical quality and I've loved it and The Cure since I was a kid. I just saw them on their North American tour, and the last time I saw them was in the 90's. I'm so glad you got to experience The Cure and thanks for sharing your genuine reaction!
This is the song The Cure played at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame when they were inducted in 2019. He wrote this song about his Wife who were High School sweethearts! ❤😁
It's not "the" song. I think "the" song was Shake Dog Shake. They absolutely rocked.
I thought lovesong was wrote for his wife
@@TheWhocaresusername *written. Yes, it was. That's what Bob said.
The cure have some fantastic songs, "the lovecats" "Friday I'm in love ", "love song" "caterpillar", "pictures of you" and "the forest" are all well worth reacting too
Also Love Cats.
@@3DJapan I think its first on my list but you're still right it's a great song lol
The forest for sure! Don’t forget Disintegration and Underneath the Stars and A Thousand Hours ❤
A Letter to Elise, One More Time, In Between Days, Plainsong. SO MANY GREAT SONGS!!!
@@newinLV One Hundred Years, The Figurehead, A Strange Day, A Short Term Effect, The Hanging Garden, Pictures Of You, Disintegration the list goes on and on and on. Robert Smith is brilliant. A genius. The Edgar Allen Poe of rock.
This song was a huge hit. I love them, so very popular back in the day.
Such an influence on bands after them….like Smashing Pumpkins…
The Cure have the most wonderful and quirky songs. You just put them on at the end of a busy week with a good bottle of red wine and they bring you up every time!
The Cure ❤️ I have every album they've ever made, there are no bad songs from them. I wore my The Cure Boys Don't Cry T-Shirt the other day and my daughter went "oh I like Edward Scissorhands" 🤣
Thats hilarious 🤣 😂
kids! bah! hilarious
"Love Song" by The Cure is a modern standard. Everyone covers it. You should do that one next.
Close your eyes, imagine driving a convertible through hills overlooking the ocean with wind blowing in your hair and your hand holding the one you’re with. Great song even though I was never a big Cure fan. They had some hits they put out. Memories with my “alternative” friends back in the early late 80’s and early 90’s. I was lucky to have such a huge range of friends who wore their style and was hunt themselves. Didn’t matter what they dressed like or what music genre they were in too. Because this era had great music in all genres
I so love New generations discovering the best band in the whole wide world, The Cure. 44 years and they still rock it ! Also, Friday I'm in Love is the best pop song ever. Also, you should listen to live version of the songs. They are sooo good live ! Long Live The Cure ! #CureMadWorld
This came out in my Freshman year of High School. The whole album "Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me" is one of my favorites ever!
I've been a Cure fan since 85, but they've been around longer than that.
"Inbetween Days", "Charlotte Sometimes", and "Boys Don't Cry" are a few of my favorite older Cure songs.
Thanks for the reaction!
Junior year. Knew tons of people that liked The Cure but never thought they were anything special. Then they started playing the song on the radio (which they never did for The Cure back then) and I was like "holy shit I think I like The Cure now!" Went out and bought Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me and fell in love with the whole album.
We were lucky with music.
They never heard of "primary" or "a forest"?
One of Englands master song writers.
The Cure are extremely underrated, but when the penny drops you realise they are one of the best to ever do it.
Good call, Asia .. The intro to this song is just brilliant ! .. The progressive introduction of each instrument and the delicious riffs set the mood perfectly for the rest of this classic from The Cure.
70 yr old Brother. Been listening to the Cure since the mid 80's, outstanding band. I could give you a litany of great white band that came out doing this period and before. It just goes to show that weii written; orchestrated music crosses all spectrum. Many people miss out on good music, because it is not considered to be mainstream.
This is an enchanting song. It’s so lovely how it paints a picture in your head.
The Cure is an amazing band, the car play the darkest of songs, the loudest of songs, and yet release a sweet pop love song like this, they are simply amazing
kind of the... Goth Beatles!
'80s and early '90s new wave/post-punk! We GenXers loved this kind of stuff back in our youth lol. Great dance floor filler.
The Cure and lots of new wave bands has that kind of melancholy, happy sad kind of sound and mood. Yall got it! lol
Saw The Cure 3yrs ago @ The Rose Bowl in Pasadena. Fan since 80s.
I loved Asias analogy.
I love the way you both react to different genres of music, comedy, etc. It's refreshing, and as a teacher, retired engineer, teacher, lecturer, and as a person who loves different opinions and cultures in general I really like how you choose your material and, I've said, how you react to them. My humblest praise. I don't earn enough to sponsor people on Patreon, for example, but I really appreciate the effort that you make to communicate. Keep it going. Alex.
The cure are masters of matching up best pop music with sad lyrics or vice versa and this creates tension in his music.
✨Awww… Love this song 💛
It was one of my late sister’s favorites 😇 The Cure dominated the New Wave scene in the 80’s. They’ve got so many catchy tunes, but in most cases you’ll notice, the lyrics are melancholy/sad. Just watch “Wedding Singer” and catch Adam Sandler’s reference. Great 80’s soundtrack for that movie.✨
Wedding Singer would be a good movie reaction for them.
@@scapito Right?! Gives one not from the 80’s an idea of the real 80’s. With that being said, nothing compares to that era and I feel so blessed I experienced the best of times.💖
Asia & BJ, you’ll love their “Friday I'm In Love”, “The Love Cats” and "Let's Go to Bed"!!
Seattle sending LOVE! This band were at EVERY dance club for YEARS.
I’m not a big fan of the synth sound of the 1980s. But I like the Cure. And this is my fav song by them. And I realized I didn’t know most of the lyrics. Except “I’m in love with you.” Hahaha
Another good one in this genre is Modern English “ghost in You”
One of my favorite Cure songs...my fave is Pictures of You.
This song is BRILLIANT! The music is amazing from the guitar to the small piano. 👏👏👏
The Cure has been around since the early 80s. He wrote this about his wife Mary who he has been with over 20 plus years. They have that signature sound, that you hear and you know its them. Other great songs they have- Disintegration, Fascination street, Love song, Friday I'm in love, Boys don't cry, Edge of the Deep green sea, and Burn from the Crow soundtrack.
2nd half of the 70's
You guys r killing it. The Cure is class and that's what you guys got. Thank you.
It’s refreshing to see younger generations experience real talent in music, such as The Cure.
The Cure BEST ROCK BAND ON EARTH
Fun fact - Robert Smith was in Souixe and the Banshee...I saw Roberts band open and then he was in Banshees for the headliner....
one of the best songs ever, will always be in my top 10..Robert Smith inventing pop-punk in 1985.
These songs were so great in High School in the 80s driving down the coast next to the pacific at midnight, just amazing.
You can't help but move along when you hear this song. I LOVE it!
Oh, the 80's. They can be very meloncholic, but have a sound of their own.
You can tell when Asia likes it. That beautiful smile, she can't hide it! I love your channel. Cheers!
I just love them. The Cure are simply brilliant. Greets from Germany.
One of my sister's favorite bands of the 90's! They are so good. Check out "Disintegration" "Fascination Street" "Boys Don't Cry" "Lullaby" "Let's Go To Bed" "Close To Me" "A Letter To Elise" "In Between Days" "Why Can't I Be You?" "Maybe Someday" "The Walk" "Burn" "Fire In Cairo" "10:15 Saturday Night" They are a BOP.
The Cure is an 80s band!😁
@@frauleinmona 80s and 90s. Long career
@@jeffreekoch9298 Yes, I realize that. But the OP said that they were a 90s band. And since The Cure became big in the 80s, they're considered to be an 80s band. So, I thought perhaps the OP didn't know that The Cure was an original 80s band. That's why I said what I did.
My favourite part of reactions to this song is the big smile that breaks out during the intro just after the lead guitar kicks in. You just can't not smile. 🙂
A beautiful melancholy
Awesome reaction, wish I could give a ❤️.
Still one of my favorite bands after 30 plus years!
This is one of the saddest songs imo besides Sinead’s Nothing Compares To You.
Please do more of The Cure.
“Boys Don’t Cry”
“Close To Me”
“The Forest”
“Why Can’t I Be You”
“Love song” “
“In Between Days”
“Lullaby”
“The Lovecats” to name a few.
This is me and the hubby's song ( married 28 years
You can't go wrong with the Cure. Great back catalogue of hits....oh to be young again😜
The cure is the one band responsible for me falling madly in love with rock . their songs are pure art , just beautiful .🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
Wife here...Love Love Love this 80's New Wave 💎gem!!!.."Should've put a ring on it"..Well said..Perfectly stated you guys..Love the insightful review as always !!
💯
My all time favorite 80s song and one of my all time favorites.
Amo The Cure. ❤
I love The Cure this is my all time favorite band!❤️ When I hear their songs it takes me back.. 44 yrs later and they're still making music and catching the attention of people of all ages.
Back in the late 80’s/early 90’s, I used to sell weed and smoke with the band people on the DL because they didn’t want people to know they smoked weed. They’d listen to bands like The Cure and every time I’d here them, I’d think of those people. Lol
The Cure has always been one of my favorite Punk groups Roberts writing is so amazing. It's makes so much since in so many ways.
I love that you just listened to the song without constantly stopping it and the just commented after it finished. So refreshing for reaction vids.
The Cure started as a weird new wave band that started writing really pretty songs. "Killing an Arab" is a great older song.
My band. They made my youth. Saw them 11 times in the 80s. Best youth ever. Going to shows every weekend. The 80s were incomparable.
Fascination Street is The Cure's song that I danced to the extended version in goth clubs in college, that and Lullaby! After those, the song Kiss me Kiss me Kiss me!
Love The Cure❤❤❤❤❤
My favorite song by The Cure 😍 This was on the Kiss me Kiss me Kiss me album. I think it was made in 87 the year he and Mary were married.
The Cure is one of the best bands EVER.
The Cure! YESSSS!!!
If I am not mistaken this came out when I was 15 so 87? I love the Cure! Many memories associated to their music. ❤
One of my all time favorite songs!
This takes me back to being 13
It's better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all 🎶💔🎹 Thanks good people xx
You both nailed the song! Good reaction!
Great band.. so many great songs.. fascination street, letter to Elise, pictures, close to me, a forest, Friday I’m in love, disintegration.. etc.
This is one of my favourite songs as most people don’t know the meaning of story of the song
It’s a about a girl who was in the hospital dying of cancer.
She was a big fan of Robert Smith(vocalist of the cure) and Robert smith came visited her and thus the story of the song.
One day Smith came and she passed away.
It’s actually one of the saddest song in music history.
A really good dance floor filler.... Works well with Cool for cats from Squeeze, General and Majors from XTC, Regret and True faith from New order
Seen them in concert when I was younger
Love how the song allows Asia to flash that million dollar smile of hers 😃...
He did put a "ring on it" Robert Smith is happily married...he just like singing grey!
heard this track for the first time back in 1987. still love it
This great rock ballad is enchanting...doesn't matter what Asia & BJ say or think - it stands alone - next time include the instrumental prelude
Porl, now Pearl, Thompson is the lead guitarist on this album, who made that awesome riff at the beginning. He used to be married to Robert's (lead singer's) sister. They grew up together. Porl has always been in and out of the band. He's with them when he wants to be, then goes away when he wants to do other things. He's also played with Led Zepplin.
Oh The Cure Always Warms My Heart & My DJ Pals Still Spin Them At The Club!! ❤️🖤
This is my favorite The Cure song and there are more than a few.
Love the guitar work in this song.
'Shit ' Had forgotten just how Good this Band were!!!
Glad I caught your Reaction !!!
Enjoying your reviews!!!....
This happens to be my favorite song ever. Thanks for the video!!!
Live take of "A Forest" from Concert: The Cure Live is a sheer beast ---that entire disc, really...
Arguably, the greatest pop song ever written
The cure! 🙌
una de las grandes bandas que nos queda....grande The Cure!
The Cure, so good, Great vibes
Pictures of You and Lovesong are both so good. The Cure is one of a kind. Edward Scissorhands was inspired by Robert Smith’s look. Unique but brilliant. 💕
This and Lovesong by The Cure are beautiful. You should react to Lovesong if you haven't . Great stuff guys!
That wonderful song is just the tip of the iceberg. The Cure has many more awesome songs!
The Cure have so many great songs to choose from but “A Forest” is their masterpiece
Finally!!! Gracias gracias!
one of my playlist when I go for long walks. Really takes you into a different world.
Primero, Great band...My favorite song is "Catch" followed by "A Forest" and "Pictures of You" 🤙
The Forrest next please 💯
This song is just so good. That intro gives me eargasms 🤣
It was the title tune from the film of the same name ... just like heaven with reece witherspoon
One of my favorite 80s songs.
Last day of summer, the big hand, and sinking live are a must!!!!
This song was released in 1987. The following year, Robert Smith married Mary Poole, who he wrote it about, and, they've been married ever since.
"Friday I'm in Love" is another good Cure song.
I love this song and to see your faces listening to it is great!
Love The Cure, they just have a vibe that gets to my sense of nostalgia and emotion. Wish you guys would check out Kem, the song is Matter of Time, love his voice! I can never get anyone to react to his stuff 😥.
Moreeee The Cure pleaseee
