I know this is an old video, but I hate binding and finding this video and the new video on the binding tool made my day a lot easier! I watch your videos almost daily for quilting help! I quilted 30 years ago, but just baby quilts for my children and then never quilted again until 10 months ago..... Now I can't stop, lol, and it's because I have found patterns and videos! I never had a pattern 30 yrs ago! Thank you so much for everything you have done and everything you continue to do! I also love your online store, my husband doesn't, I spend to much! Lol

Ladies Practice Practice Practice!!!! I watched this tutorial about 50 times before I got it right and that was 5 yrs ago...Jenny Doan is the Queen of quilting! I don't think I have gone a day without watching her since I began yrs ago!..Now I can do it with my eyes closed almost. You will get there just don't give up! Love and Hugs from North Carolina
My granddaughter started a quilt, did some and thenhad to go to school. I never had done a quilt before, After getting the pieces together, the problem was finishing it, I could not have finished it without your video. Thank you so much for all of your help.
I just finished a table runner with this binding method, and them best praise comes from my 13-yr-old son: "Wait! Your're finished already? You NEVER finish something so fast!" Jenny, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the tutorials and enthusiasm you give to quilting and share with us!
my mother in law taught me the basics of quilting in a short period of time. she was snow bird, lived in ohio in the summer and florida in the winter. to make a long story short she died of breast cancer before i got to bind a quilt .ur video helped out a lot, thank u so much ! she made so many beautiful quilts and i am honored that she taught me. i'll be watching more of ur video's cause there is so much more i need to learn. thank you !
I can't do much hand sewing because I have bad hands, so the more I can do with the machine the better. This is a life saver! Now I can make a nice, proper quilt lol Thanks!
I have been quilting a long time and I hate binding.....until now. This is life changing. No wonder I've always hated it. I've been doing it the hard way. Ugh. Thank you sooooooo very much! This is wonderful!
I love quilting, but the hand binding was driving my arthritis crazy! I am a teacher and since we are virtual this year I am typing more than ever! Being able to bindings on my machine will save my sanity! Thank you so much!
Jackie YOU ARE AWESOME!! love, love, love to watch your videos!!I Haven't had the courage to make a quilt yet,but I'm working on getting there.I've done a few items you videoed, the scarf using minky (daughters in law loved them)baby blanket for a friends new grand baby.My wonderful hubby (43 yrs) bought me a new machine that quilts I'm so nervous & excited about trying it out! Just retired a year ago so this is all new to me & I am having the time of my life. Again thanks for all your help!
Even a seasoned quilter need a refresher! I really enjoyed your corners technique and the options you gave. I am finishing my sister’s table runner today, and looked to MSQC for guidance. Thank you for all you do ♥️
Thank you so much for adding the closed captioning! I watch tutorials in bed when I can't sleep, and I have to keep the volume down so I don't wake up my husband. This tutorial was so helpful. I'm going to be binding my first quilt soon, and I'm a lot less nervous now.
I am so glad I found your tutorial. I love to make baby quilts but I have done it the opposite way. Sewing to the front and hand sewing to the back of the quilt. It always took me 3 hours to hand sew that way. Thank you so much, I am looking forward to making more baby quilts with this shorter version.
Gosh you read my mind. I was just thinking 'I want that ironing board'. haha You have the best tutorials. You are a sewing Goddess. I'm still watching you in 2019. Blessings.
One of these days Jenny I am going to get to Missouri to meet all of you and see the Missouri Star Quilt company. I lived in Missouri for about the first 3 years of my life and than was adopted out. I came back a few years ago to look at the towns I was in but didn't know anything about your shop. But I will be back. Keep it coming.
I am so appy that I watched this. I took a class years ago and we ran out of time and were not able to bind the piece. I have wanted to finish it and was not really sure how to do it. This video has been so informative that I am confident that I can do it now. Thank you Jenny.
I have always sewn all my 2 1/2 strips together and then ironed them in half. But now I use your method of just iron my pieces then sew them together like you suggested. So much easier than trying to fold and iron a loooong strip. Thank you.
I always find binding to be the hardest part of the the quilt making process. This tutorial has made me see the light!! I think I can finally stop worrying about the binding. Thank you Thank you Thank you. I can't wait to do the binding on the quilt I'm working on that's for my daughter's first birthday in August!!!
Thank you SO MUCH for making it so clear as to how to put on a binding on a quilt...every other tutorial just didn't make sense!! I couldn't figure out how the binding fit so CLEANLY and neatly around the edges of the quilt!! No matter how many "How To" videos I watched!! Thank you for your great "makes a lot of sense to novices like me!" tutorials!!! (I'm going to go out and buy a sewing machine!!!)
Great tutorial! I've never watched a full video (for anything) and I was surprised by how I was so absorbed in this one that I didn't even feel like I sat here for 13 minutes! Thank you!!!
This is a great binding method for me. I have seen several that the binding was done on the sewing machine and they all was done this same way. Thanks for showing.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I have struggled with machine finishing my bindings, but now I know how to do it in the best fashion. Jenny, you are the best!
I have watched only a few of your tutorials, and I have learned so much. I learned to sew in high school, and I am retired now. Didn't realize I forgot so much, Thanks for teach this ole dog some new tricks
Michelle, perhaps you should have another look at this video. It is perfectly clear that a straight stitch (1/4" seam allowance) was used and the front was stitched using a serpentine stitch. All perfectly clear and explained by Jenny. I think that if everyone else gets it and you don't you may need to re-watch the video as I said and then perhaps you may pick up on the information you need to accomplish the binding so easily. Thanks Jenny for a great tutorial. Regards, Nita.
Thanks, zebraalice. I do know how to do it, and without a binding tool, but I see very few people who know how to do it so that you can't tell it from any other seam in the binding. Betty Cotton is the one who showed me how. I was hoping Jenny would have it on here.
I tried my first mini-blanket with the help of a few of your videos. It is flawed very much but I couldn't have gotten it done without your help. Thank you!!!!
You will never know just how much I have learned watching this video and some of your other videos .. I would like to thank u very much for the great way u teach and show in detail , that even me can learn .. Thank u Karen
I am ready to bind a baby quilt and could not remember whether to us the bias and straight binding. Now I know what I will do. Have to start cutting the bias. UGH! Thanks for the video. I love all of your tutorials. I refer back to them often, just to keep on track.
I have not been quilting for long and dread the binding part. Thanks for the great tutorial. I have just finished a baby quilt and you can be sure, I will be binding it by machine! You have given me so much confidence and I am now enjoying making baby quilts and tablerunners for charity. Roll on your next tutorial.
I've been quilting for about a year now, and Jenny is my hero with all of her videos and tutorials. She taught me how to bind my quilts by hand, and now by machine. I have to laugh at the upgrade in production value since 2011, though. She's got quite the professional studio in her more recent videos. These oldies are great though, too! THANKS!
Wow,these colors are just beautiful and very spring and girlie and I have 2 ladies that I know are having little girls a month from each other and one of them is having the very first girl in the family in thirty years I may try to embark on this my, my so darn cute.and thanks for the binding tip.I did my first and last forty years ago for a nephew , I hope that I can do a better one .That one wasn't bad ,I just didn't know what I was doing and I didn't and still don't have the fancy stitches that most of you get these days with the help of computerized sewing machines .Just lovely.
Your video's are amazing. I began quilting about a year ago and struggled so much until I found these videos!! Thank you for taking the time to teach us "newbies"!!
Thanks I am making my dad a decade quilt and this is the 3rd ever quilt I've made and taught myself. I never knew a good way to bind. This is super freaking easy thanks.
Mrs Bunny I was wondering, am I correct in saying that you sew binding after your quilt back is on and the quilt is otherwise finished or is this only done on the quilt front before the rest is put together? Sorry if this makes no sense
Yes ma'am. I just finished mine and it worked wonderfully. I actually sewed my binding first to the back, right sides together, then put the quilt together with pins and quilted it, then I folded the binding over the top, like you would a baby bib or something that was several layers. Then top stitched it down. I'll try to post a video sometime this month on my RUclips channel for you. You can also put binding on after the entire quilt is finished. I have done that before as well It didn't come out as good though. Make sure you subscribe to my channel as well as this one so you can get updates as to when we post videos to help you.... ruclips.net/channel/UC1b4KXOts0TSCg7GXkhy9tA
I love this tutorial .Jenny , what would we do without you>we would not finish our projects that have been setting in olur closets forever ......Thankyou again for having the patience to teach us quilters-to-be.. Congrats again .. Please keep up us up to date.. Best wishes to you and your wonderful staff.
I am making my first quilt project-- placemats. :). And it's all thanks to the tutorial on the "quilt as you go" method as well as this machine binding tutorial! AND I've pinned the quilting tutorial to pinterest! Thank you MSQC!!
Jenny, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR PATIENT SHOWING OF HOW TO DO THE BINDING> very grateful. You make it easy to follow. Thank you for sharing your love of quilting with us.
I keep watching this over and over again! I had to tear out some stitches a few times and repair two spots where I did not have it square to the fabric, but it is all fixed! Now to put the new binding on! I am sure I will stop the video several times again to get it done! Thank you for such a great tutorial!! I love your videos!
Thank you Cherish for taking a minute to leave such a kind note!! Isn't it awesome what you are capable of!! Congrats on joining the ranks of the quilters, it's a fun family to be a part of :D
I love watching and learning from your tutorials. My grandmother use to try and teach me as a child but couldnt sit still long enough. Thank you for doing these.
Thank you for all your helpful tips. Need to work on my corners a bit, but overall happy with my first quilt. All I learned was through the videos. You’re an awesome teacher.
Wow this is cool, I'm a beginner too and I'm binding my quilt and I've done a lot of research on how to bind before I start, your the first person to say we can use a different stitch to decorate the edge I LOVE it I can't wait to try!
oh thank you Quilting Angel (aka Jenny!) - I am at the point where I must bind a quilt & this tutorial just popped up on my RUclips feed! A super tutorial and I am off now today to practice on a few mug rugs before I start on the main project - love your tutorials - you have a lot of fans here in Saudi Arabia x
love your tutorials. i can't do a binding worth ANYTHING, so i was glad to watch your two tutorials on how to do it. you make it SEEM so easy. i sure hope i can finally do it. thank you!!
Jenny, Just a note to say thank you for your binding tutorials . Just when I think I've decided to quit., I stop and watch you again and figure out what I'm doing wrong. Having several back surgeries limits my time at the machine but even more so with the hand stitching. My hand goes numb so I have to use the machine. If I lived near your shop I would be there just watching everyone and everything I can. I have lost my one love of nursing due to health reasons but I found quilting and with your help I am getting better. So thank you from California. Lori Ransom
I really enjoy your videos. They are so informative. Things I have forgotten I can just put in the search what I am looking for an there you are with all the information that I need. Your videos are the best because you take the time to explain and show exactly how an what you need to do to complete the item or items. Thank you and Missouri Quilt Company for all you do to help everyone. Would like to know if you sell any of the jelly roll packs or thee charm packs or any other items? Thank you again. My email is mymr.milo@gmail.com
Thank you SOOOO much! I will never use store bought binding or have a messy binding again! These tutorials have given me a new found passion and excitement about sewing and quilting! You are awesome! Thank you for sharing your gift and love for quilting!
Great binding tutorial. Most I've watched have been by placing the binding on the front and sewing to the back. I like the idea of doing it your way so that you know what the front looks like as you go. As usual, your videos are just awesome! Thank you!
Everything I've watched of you has been AMAZING. I've sewn my whole life (I'm old) but I have never quilted. With your tutorials, I've got the techniques and inspiration. I've started quilting now and I'm having a blast. It's great to know I have so much support from your videos. Well done!
its so helpful and understand with closed caption and its really helpful and clearly whats binding.. Its amazing for all these peoples could watch your tube …
My goodness....I'm really learning so much and that sewing with the proper tutorials....it doesn't have to be hard. Thanks so much for all your video's.....I LOVE THEM!!
Thanks, Jenny. I thought you had cut the strips on the bias. Boy, that makes me happy. I won't have to figure out how to cut the strips on the bias. I watched a video of how to make a tube and cut that on the bias. Now I won't have to do that. The corners are not curved. Thank you so much for answering me. Pat
OMG..EXCELLENT tutorial and I so much appreciate ALL the great video tutorials you do. I am loving quilting and sewing again...haven't done so in over 20+ yrs. but having seen the quilts, blankets, pillowcases etc...I'm BACK to sewing on a daily basis and lovin' every minute!
I love that, even though this is not your personal preferred method... You still know how to do everything :) I jus recently finished my fist quilt thanks to you!!! I did the 'cheaters method' and backed my whole quilt the 'receiving blanket way' Just because I understood it better. I am working on another quilt... I will do a border on this one :)
Oh my goodness! Mind blown! Thanks for a new trick! I've had trouble catching the back when I start on the front. Never thought of a decorative stitch! I just wish you would've flipped it over so I could see how the back looks at completion.
I have always shied away from machine binding and just sew it on the front and fold it over and hand stitch it on back. Fine for a few placemats but takes forever on a large quilt. This solves that issue for me!. Thank you for this wonderful video!
Thank you very much Jenny, you are a great woman, an artist, I'm soo loved patch and you are make really my live with your wonderful creations, sorry my english is not very good, but I have seen all your videos and I am your fan thanks to share your creations with us, congratulations from México. Pilar.
Thank you...again...its a very rainy Saterday evening here..and i am spending a lot of time looking at your video`s and got the feeling that i have learned much more in this couple of hours then from my very large stock of my quiltmagazines...greetings Francien.
I am so glad to have found your website. I was watching your binding tutorials and it so happens that I have three lap quilts ready to bind. I can see that from now on I will bind your way. I had only used the straight sewn strips not liking the results. Now that I have your tutorials I know that I will be a perfectionist just like you, Jenny Best regards from Roanoke, VA, Jenny
Thank you so much for showing such an easy way of binding, the corners look great! You make it so simple to get a proffessional finish.Since I seen your videos Im hooked! Ive got 3 on the go, love your designs. Im a carer for my Dad due to the loss of my mam a year ago, you've helped me get through the loss. When I've been down Ive watched your videos. THANK YOU
I've used this technique before and it is quick and easy. A good way to showcase decorative stitches and threads. The ric-rac idea is great! Keep the videos coming. Great ideas for both beginner and experienced quilters. Happy Sewing, Rae
I should have gone right to your tutorial. That’s exactly what I was looking for. I’m doing the exact same: sewing from the back to the front like you did. Had not thought of using a fancy top stitch. I might try it on a pce of fabric before doing it to the quilt. Thank you so much.
Thanks for sharing your time, this instruction on attaching binding helped make sense of the book I was using. It was my first time binding a quilt and I didn't want to hand stitch it to the front as the book instructed so your demonstration was very helpful. Thanks again.
I know this is an older video but the camera angles are much better (at least for me) than in other binding tutorials. Like to do hand sewing but for placemats or baby quilts, machine binding seems sturdier. Thanks for the help!
Thank you so much for this great video! My quilting has gotten so much better since I stared watching your tutorials. Lots of Love from Frankfurt in Germany! :)
I really enjoyed this video. Finally corners made sense to me. I garment sew mostly and have just purchased a new Singer combo embroidery and quilting machine and have a new grand baby on the way. I am going to try a baby quilt soon. I am from Arkansas and have subscribed to your channel to see more great tutorials. Thanks again ::):):):)

A super tutorial and I am off now today to practice on a few mug rugs before I start on the main project - love your tutorials - you have a lot of fans here in Saudi Arabia x
love your tutorials. i can't do a binding worth ANYTHING, so i was glad to watch your two tutorials on how to do it. you make it SEEM so easy. i sure hope i can finally do it. thank you!!
once again MSQC has come good and given me the confidence I need..and what a great lady you are Jenny. Thank you
I have messed up so many bindings! I was doing wrong. I’m so glad I found this video!
I am a new quilter. I finally know how to do a mitered corner! Thank you, Jenny!!!!
I come back to this video every time I bind a quilt, and I'm always so proud of my work. Slay, Jenny, slay!
Pat
Thanks Jenny! So good to have you here to help me just when I need you!
Jenny, I am so glad I found your viedos. I am sooooo lucky I found u. U make it look sooo easy. Hope I can get as good as u.
Just finished my first quilt today , this video is super helpful. Thank you
OMG..EXCELLENT tutorial and I so much appreciate ALL the great video tutorials you do. I am loving quilting and sewing again...haven't done so in over 20+ yrs. but having seen the quilts, blankets, pillowcases etc...I'm BACK to sewing on a daily basis and lovin' every minute!
Jenny, I am so glad I found your viedos. I am sooooo lucky I found u.
It's interesting seeing how your machines have changed over the years. Love your videos! Thank you.
WOW I love this video. Binding has always been a mistery to me (I had my mom finish all my blankets). But with this!!! I will do it my self! Thanks!!!
Oh my goodness! Mind blown! Thanks for a new trick! I've had trouble catching the back when I start on the front. Never thought of a decorative stitch! I just wish you would've flipped it over so I could see how the back looks at completion.
I love the continual joining of the strips, saves some time. Thank you .
Now that I have your tutorials I know that I will be a perfectionist just like you, Jenny
Best regards from Roanoke, VA, Jenny
Thank you for demonstrating this. I’ve been hesitant to try it because I didn’t want the back to look messy. Your method seems really great!!
Thank you so much Jenny I struggled with binding until this video!
This helped me sooo much!! I should have watched this last night before finishing my quilt! Brilliant!
I should have gone right to your tutorial. That’s exactly what I was looking for. I’m doing the exact same: sewing from the back to the front like you did. Had not thought of using a fancy top stitch. I might try it on a pce of fabric before doing it to the quilt. Thank you so much.
Thank you for your tips! I now think I have the confidence to finish 3 quilts I started 3 yrs ago! Keep the tutorials coming. :)
thank you for explaining the mitered corner so easily
Thanks for sharing your time, this instruction on attaching binding helped make sense of the book I was using. It was my first time binding a quilt and I didn't want to hand stitch it to the front as the book instructed so your demonstration was very helpful. Thanks again.
I know this is an older video but the camera angles are much better (at least for me) than in other binding tutorials. Like to do hand sewing but for placemats or baby quilts, machine binding seems sturdier. Thanks for the help!
Thanks Jenny, your tutorials are the best! This will help me finish a quilt for my son's birthday and mail it to him on time! What a concept...
Thank you so much for this great video! My quilting has gotten so much better since I stared watching your tutorials. Lots of Love from Frankfurt in Germany! :)
I like these older tutorials better than the new ones. Great job on all of them, Jenny!
Me too, a big thanks to Jenny.
Jenny is great ! i love watching her videos!!! she explains everything
I have been just stuck with so many quilts and now I know how to do this. Thank you so much.
