Random Idea - maybe the reason that certain locations are different between Black and White is based off the region's legendaries - Reshiram is the Pokémon of truth, while Zekrom is the Pokémon of ideals. Maybe that's why all of Black's different areas seem more futuristic and developed, while White's different areas seem natural; it's the truth of the world, versus the ideals of the world. Or maybe I'm an idiot and this is outright stated in-game.
Black route 4 was in a future where it was modernized in just a few yeara White route 4 was in a future where it was being developed but an ancient ruin was discovered while under construction

The differences don't end here. These games' message is poetic. You skipped a few details on Black and White differences. Driftveil's market changes between versions: in Black, the market has all kinds of fruit and flowers and the NPC dialogues reflect this, by saying that it's great to have a lot of different fruit and flowers while in White, fruit and flowers are only seasonal, so they change according to the game season, and NPCs say that it's wonferul to see how fruit changes during the year. This is a very nice detail reflecting the games lore: Black is a most-idealistic world, where Opelucid is over technological, almost utopic, but there is still a small trace of justice, truth and realism, the most prominent being Drayden as Gym Leader instead of Iris, because ideals need to be supported by a solid base of truth (also, Reshiram is the legendary of the protagonist reflecting this). In White, however, Truth triumphed and reigns towards the region: Opelucid respects traditions of the past, but with a small touch of novelty, being Iris as a Gym Leader (and Zekrom as your legendary). Black's market reflects the beauty of different kinds of beautiful things, while White's market reflects the truth of waiting the year, accepting we can't have all at once except by importing it, embracing traditions and seasons as they come, appreciating the wait to enjoy things as they should be realistically. In Black, the evolution of the double battles are rotation battles, where you use 3 Pokémon but in a very different way, with the rotation gimmick being brand new and allowing a more dynamic gameplay. It really annoys me when people call B2W2 the same game as BW. The people that say the region is copy/paste need look no further than the VERY FIRST CITY OF THE GAME. And you have other places like Virbank City, the Castelia Sewers, the Relic Passage, PWT, redesigned areas, and everything after the sixth Gym... How is that copy/paste and yet Emerald and Platinum aren't? That's what annoys me even more - when those same people give third versions like Emerald and Platinum a pass in comparison despite them being even more copy/paste than B2W2 are.
Ok, but am I the only one who noticed that in B/W, Oshawott rotates his body left and right in his animation, but in B/W2, be bounces and shows you his scalchop?
You forgot team plasma's uniforms, in the original Black and White, they wear knight templar style uniforms and in the sequels, they wear new uniforms, black ops style or pirate uniforms but you can still see in their original uniforms where one of them buys incenses in Driftveil City. Additionally, the Shadow Triads and Zinzolin can be fought as part of the story.
Those games just felt a bit... off to me. It's mostly the graphics and the Pokemon in that gen that I am uncomfortable with. However, the story and it's legendaries were spectacular.

Meganium is pure trash, Typhlosion isn't much better, Hisuian Typhlosion is good in Legends Arceus but lacking in mainline, and Feraligator is just okay. Emboar is mediocre, but Samurott is okay and Hisuian Samurott is a huge upgrade, while Serperior is one of the best starters.
This video is absolutely amazing! As a Generation 5 fan, thank you so much! I didn't know a lot of these! There's just one thing I have to point out though. I was hoping to find some sort of source where it lists the Pokemon sprites that did change between Black/White and Black/White 2, but I haven't found a complete one. I just want to say that the three starters all have different sprites, and each stage at that. Of course, it's too late to add this, but as someone who loves the Unova starters I just had to point it out. Once again, thanks for this video!

one thing i like about bw2 is that when switching head pokemon in your party, it goes really fast and you can choose to move the item between pokemon, really convienient when moving amulet coin and lucky egg between my pokemon

No it’s not. If anything, it would be overrated. At worst it is overlooked. I’m tired of people saying that and gen 5 is right behind gen 4 for my favorite gen, so I don’t say that as someone who doesn’t like gen 5.
WAIT A SECOND. So Black is overall more futuristic and high-tech than White, right? The cover legendary of Pokèmon Black is Zekrom, who stands for ideals. The world represented in Black is what many would consider idealistic, a world that's advanced, productive, and heavily dependent on technology. Meanwhile, White's cover legendary is Reshiram, who represents the truth. So, the Unova in Pokèmon White is more realistic and similar to our world. Sure, it's not the high-tech utopia that we want, but it's what we have. So Gamefreak changed the design of Unova based on the thing each cover legendary represented. GODAMMIT GAMEFREAK.
I loved collecting those C-Gear skins. Gen V had so much attention to detail and world building in it, I miss this Game Freak so much. The variety of areas to explore alone makes it the pinnacle of the 2D games for me (okay HG you 2). I hope once they've got used to how they want the aesthetics of the 3D games to look like, they go back to this kind of meticulous design approach.
Naturally it subjective. But I went into this gen blind and brought me back to the franchise I thought had kinda died for me in gen 4. So there a bit of a bias notion behind it. But I love all gens for what they bring, gen 5 just restated why I loved the game franchise more.

She spells D-O-G-A-R-S in the Japanese version, while the international version spells P-O-Ken-E-M-ON (I know it's POKEMON, but the K sounds like they said "Ken"). I would have never noticed if it wasn't for my AceKard and me playing through a English-Translated version that translated items and Pokemon names and moves. DOGAS is KOFFING's original Japanese name so it makes sense. What doesn't make sense is why it was swapped to POKeMON in the international version. Was KOFFING too many syllables or the beat just wasn't right?
Probably it was just simpler to make a single international release matching the unchanging name of the series instead of making a new chant for every individual region and their different name for Koffing
Why do people hate pokemon gen 5? They're honestly the best pokemon games to date. Best story, most heart put into it, most new Pokemon received in a game after red and blue, has a sequel that actually adds so many things and feels like a new experience, The sequel is an actual story sequel, Best Grass starter (ok that might be opinionated but hey.) Scraggy, SO MANY LEGENDARY SHINY HUNTS, individual gym themes that correspond to the environment, Really Badass mythic pokemon (3 Sword ones weather ones kinda blow), and just... so much effort and love... Like you can tell game freak tried their best on this one, it feels so good and is fun to play and return to over and over.When people said they hate this game, I think its what drove Game Freak to become the lazy corporation they are today. People just didn't like well made and content filled games I guess.

Route 10 was destroyed by a landslide presumably created by Terrakion using its signature move, Sacred Sword. Terrakion sensed that the conflict created by humans is repeating again thanks to Lord Ghetsis's act.

Gosh I forgot how good B2/W2 were. I'd love to replay it, or at least finally finish all the post game stuff i was too lazy to do way back then, but I've transferred all my pokemon to SM and the only ones left are hacked legendaries and a goldeen, and 485 hours of work..
Gen. 5 is awesome. Black and White & especially Black and White 2 are amazing games. U should give it a shot because u are missing it out tremendously.
This is a great video. And these are seriously some of the best Pokémon games ever. I never realized just how many differences there really were in these games. Make me love them even more. In the future, when they make Generation 5 remakes, they are going to be absolutely beautiful
She forgot to mention that in Black 2 and White 2 you can now make an item be moved from one pokemon to another or make pokemon swap items without the need of grabbing the item(s) out of the bag. If the pokemon is holding an item there is a move feature for when you tap "item" of that selected pokemon.
This was one of my first games of Pokemon I ever played and as a fan i'm glad to see that there's a lot of things I didn't know about them. Thank you for this. I get really sad when I see a lot of people letting this whole generation down just because they don't like some Pokemon design or the anime. Once more, thank you and congratulations for the video ❤
Gen 4 is better, in my opinion, gen 5 has just a few musics that are not forgetable, like N's theme, and the cities with that mechanic of adding more instruments, and theres gen 3 and 2 too

These are the only 2D pokemon games that feel really good to play even today. Everything is so smooth and the animated sprites are still as amazing as ever. Can't wait for these remakes.
PorygonZ Some have said that "alternate story" was a line on Masuda's translator's part, so the sequel possibility still stands, to me at least. We'll find out in due time though.
I don't know why anyone can hate this generation if it's your least favourite fine however you got to appreciate the music, art style, story and features.

This video makes me look forward to the Gen 5 remakes even more. These were my favorite games in the entire series (partly because they were the first ones I completed, the other part due to the story and writing involved), and I look forward to everything being rendered into 3d. Just gotta hope that they don't water down the story even further :')

Meganium is pure trash, Typhlosion isn't much better, Hisuian Typhlosion is good in Legends Arceus but lacking in mainline, and Feraligator is just okay. Emboar is mediocre, but Samurott is okay and Hisuian Samurott is a huge upgrade, while Serperior is one of the best starters.

This video is absolutely amazing! As a Generation 5 fan, thank you so much! I didn't know a lot of these! There's just one thing I have to point out though. I was hoping to find some sort of source where it lists the Pokemon sprites that did change between Black/White and Black/White 2, but I haven't found a complete one. I just want to say that the three starters all have different sprites, and each stage at that. Of course, it's too late to add this, but as someone who loves the Unova starters I just had to point it out.

one thing i like about bw2 is that when switching head pokemon in your party, it goes really fast and you can choose to move the item between pokemon, really convienient when moving amulet coin and lucky egg between my pokemon

Meanwhile, White's cover legendary is Reshiram, who represents the truth. So, the Unova in Pokèmon White is more realistic and similar to our world. Sure, it's not the high-tech utopia that we want, but it's what we have.
So Gamefreak changed the design of Unova based on the thing each cover legendary represented. GODAMMIT GAMEFREAK.

I loved collecting those C-Gear skins. Gen V had so much attention to detail and world building in it, I miss this Game Freak so much. The variety of areas to explore alone makes it the pinnacle of the 2D games for me (okay HG you 2). I hope once they've got used to how they want the aesthetics of the 3D games to look like, they go back to this kind of meticulous design approach.
I doubt they will, they don't seem to care about putting effort into their games like they used to.

Naturally it subjective. But I went into this gen blind and brought me back to the franchise I thought had kinda died for me in gen 4. So there a bit of a bias notion behind it. But I love all gens for what they bring, gen 5 just restated why I loved the game franchise more.

She spells D-O-G-A-R-S in the Japanese version, while the international version spells P-O-Ken-E-M-ON (I know it's POKEMON, but the K sounds like they said "Ken").
I would have never noticed if it wasn't for my AceKard and me playing through a English-Translated version that translated items and Pokemon names and moves.
DOGAS is KOFFING's original Japanese name so it makes sense.
What doesn't make sense is why it was swapped to POKeMON in the international version. Was KOFFING too many syllables or the beat just wasn't right?
Probably it was just simpler to make a single international release matching the unchanging name of the series instead of making a new chant for every individual region and their different name for Koffing

Why do people hate pokemon gen 5? They're honestly the best pokemon games to date. Best story, most heart put into it, most new Pokemon received in a game after red and blue, has a sequel that actually adds so many things and feels like a new experience, The sequel is an actual story sequel, Best Grass starter (ok that might be opinionated but hey.) Scraggy, SO MANY LEGENDARY SHINY HUNTS, individual gym themes that correspond to the environment, Really Badass mythic pokemon (3 Sword ones weather ones kinda blow), and just... so much effort and love... Like you can tell game freak tried their best on this one, it feels so good and is fun to play and return to over and over.When people said they hate this game, I think its what drove Game Freak to become the lazy corporation they are today. People just didn't like well made and content filled games I guess.

Gosh I forgot how good B2/W2 were. I'd love to replay it, or at least finally finish all the post game stuff i was too lazy to do way back then, but I've transferred all my pokemon to SM and the only ones left are hacked legendaries and a goldeen, and 485 hours of work..
Gen. 5 is awesome. Black and White & especially Black and White 2 are amazing games. U should give it a shot because u are missing it out tremendously.

She forgot to mention that in Black 2 and White 2 you can now make an item be moved from one pokemon to another or make pokemon swap items without the need of grabbing the item(s) out of the bag.
If the pokemon is holding an item there is a move feature for when you tap "item" of that selected pokemon.
