Converting a Bestway Above Ground Pool to Intex 1.5 inch Hoses Using Type B Adapters
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 26 май 2020
- I have a Bestway Above Ground Pool that is 20 feet by 48 inches. It's great! We upgraded our filter to an Intex 16" sand filter with saltwater chlorination along with an Intex skimmer.
We quickly learned that the 1.25" stock hoses that came with the pool weren't providing efficient suction and were quickly introducing air into the filter system. Additionally, the Intex skimmer wouldn't function properly. We decided to use Intex Type B adapters, but couldn't find anyone who had done this...and showed HOW to do so. Many people showed that they used them and liked them, but I wasn't sure how to properly use them. Hence this video.
Please like and subscribe if you found this to be helpful! Thanks so much!

So I have the same pump and still have the two 1.25 inlets. The whole time I’m watching this I was like, “What is the point?” Then you flipped that valve off and that extra suction kicked in! My next pool project!
Awesome. Before you do that project, check out my latest video where I upgraded my system to full 1.5 inlets. It was very easy...and better results.

Thank you so much! I'm so glad I found your video. I too couldn't find how to do modifications. We are first time pool owners as well and have so much to learn. We just put up a 12' x 24' x 52" Intex a few days ago for my parents. I put a Hayward wall skimmer on it, but still haven't cut the liner because we are trying to make the adaptions. My dad is very handy, but this helped me understand what he was talking about. I was fearful about dealing with the outlet and trying to plug it up. Hopefully we will have it done tomorrow.
I'm glad you found it helpful! Let me know if you have any questions. Glad to help out!
You helped me from the worry I had on the new upgraded pump I ordered..this is exactly the video I needed..thank you sir for your help
I'm so glad it helped!
No. But Leslie's is a chain and they're all over the country.
Excellent video. Thank you for taking the time to illustrate your ideas.
Awesome video. I too have a Best Way pool and just upgraded to the Intex C2500. With 1 1/5. I'm about to order the same exact adapters that you purchased. Thank you for confirming my choice. Love your pool !
Thanks so much! Hope it helps!
Great video man! After the 1st year with a 14’x48” Bestway pool, we definitely needed a skimmer. Then realized I had to up grade to a bigger filter. I didn’t want to cut any holes into the pool. I bought the wrong adapters. This video is really helpful. Thanks!
Just add the on/off valves. No need for the adapters since you’ll still have 1 1/4 inch restriction at the inlets. He created more suction by turning off the valve without the skimmer!
The on/off valves need the adapters. They're 1.5. They won't fit on the 1.25 inlets.
Thank you so much for this video! I couldn't find anything on how to actually "do" the conversion. I have a 14ft Bestway and the small pump that came with it. I think I clean the pool more than I have used it, lol! This is year 2 for the pool and just want to upgrade my filter pump.
I hope it helps! I know it definitely improved my pool's efficiency!
What did you upgrade your pump to?
I upgraded it to an Intex 16 inch sand filter with saltwater chlorinator. I have the link in one of my other videos. I love it!
Thank you so much for this video! I just got an Intex sand pump and was trying to figure out how to get it to work on my Bestway pool
Hope it helps
Just the video I was looking for in a pump upgrade.... thanks for great breakdown-explanation and items purchased.
Hope it helps. Check out my latest video where I upgraded even further!
Thank you!! I’ve been searching for something to explain how to convert the filter for a a while now. 🙏🏽
Hope it helps!
I took a step further and enlarged the “B” holes to accommodate the 1.5 fitting. It was scary to put a razer to the liner but the results are rewarding. Thx for the vid
I did something similar this year. Check out my latest video to see how I eliminated 1.25" hoses outright.
How do you find a t connector that is 1.5” on all sides?
Those are difficult to find. Best bet is to go to Lowes or somewhere and rig something. What I did was go full 1.5" and install an in-wall skimmer. Check my other video out for that.
@@getitdone308What if you dont want to install an in wall skimmer though?
You'd have to cut out the 1.25" inlets and replace with 1.5".
Finally a good video on this, I've been wondering how exactly to do this. Thank you
Hope it helps!
The unit heats up fast and is super quiet. It looks fancy ruclips.net/user/postUgkxl8Od2BvnGbn1ffwqsuFXW0QnmcZgMiVY and can be kept in the living room. It gets hot within a split second of turning on the unit. The build quality is exceptionally good and is safe to be around kids and pets. This one is super quiet and can be kept on while in office meetings, my wife loved it. It shows the temperature right on the unit which is very useful and adding a rotating feature helps to heat up the surrounding, so other people will not fight with you for heat. It is right as described in the description..!! Definitely recommend!!
Thank you so much. Seriously thank you. Easy to follow, easy to understand, I really appreciate it.
Hope it helps. Check out my other video where I converted fully to 1.5" hoses
This is exactly the video I needed. Thank you so much!

THANK YOU. I could not figure out what kind of adapter I needed to do this It's a type b! Thank you so much This does help thanks for caring
Ty for the video. I bought a intex pool and upgrading the pump. Very useful video.
Hope it helped!
I am from the UK and have a Bestway 16ft 48inch round pool. But to help warm the water i have painted the exterior walls black, this really helps absorb the suns rays as before the pool was light gray. I also have a black pool cover. And lastly, i have 600ft of poly pipe running from my pump around the yard, the water coming back out of the pipe is much warmer than the water in the pool.
I understand painting the exterior of the pool black my look ugly, but it really makes a huge difference. Especially as im in the UK and we dont have long summers.
Being from TX, I have the opposite need. I don't need warmer water. I need to cool it most days!
What kind of paint did you use?
@@jeffm9722 the wrong paint actually. At the time i had ‘chalkboard paint’. But its been 2 years and its fine.
Long as it works man. You can also turn off your pump for about an hour and float a large black tarpaulin ground cover a couple feet deep and wow the difference it makes
Thank you! We had a very bad moment today, it’s our first pool so water was just going everywhere !
Hope it helped
Thank you for this video. It is helpful for me figuring out my new pool set up!!
Hope it helps. Check this out. I upgraded further. ruclips.net/video/TpBitG1rns8/видео.html
The skimmer you have is the same as mine. It came with a stopper and I thought it was strange the stopper has a little hole in it, lol. I ended up using the stopper (with the hole) on one of the two inlets that is not connected to the skimmer. This provided more suction for the skimmer but still pulls a little bit of water in from beneath the water line. The setup allows me to clean the top of the pool water using the skimmer with strong suction and inside the depth of the pool but at a much slower rate.
I plan on buying plunger valves because the stoppers are a pain in the butt to use just to clean my filter cartridge.
Agreed. Check out what I did about it here. Fixed it completely. Love the results. ruclips.net/video/TpBitG1rns8/видео.html

Thank you so much for this!
Hope it helped. I have another coming out shortly how I upgraded to full 1.5" tubes.
Your 1 1/2 inch adapters didn’t make a difference because you still have a 1 1/4 inch restriction at your inlets. How you created more suction was by adding the on/off valves which let you stop suction at one inlet and divert all the suction to the inlet with the skimmer. I have a similar setup. Next year I’ll be cutting out the 1 1/4 inch inlets and installing proper 1 1/2 inch fittings to create much more suction at the skimmer.
Hi I too am so glad I found your video , sure did answer questions what I should do and how to do it. But I have one thing my pool has 3 outlets two that suck in water and one that returns but the upgrade pump will only have to hoses so I think I am going to just plug up one of the incoming to the pump with the black cap and keep the cove screwed on and see what happens this season. If there is a problem I will get another hose and a tee but I will keep my fingers crossed. Kinda mad that they would sell that size filter for the bigger pool, I had nothing but problems keeping the algae out the pump could not handle it ad it going 24/7. Again thanks for your video
Check this video out how I upgraded further. I'm glad I did!
Good stuff hope I can get this done on my Coleman pool

I would clean most of the surface debris off the top of the water with a cleaning net and then let the skimmer take care of the rest but that's just me anyways awesome video greatly appreciated.
I agree. Sometimes I just can't get to the net in time. The skimmer takes care of it so I don't have to.
Thanks for a great video you’re the best
Hope it helps! I have another video coming out shortly about how I made another upgrade. Keep your eye out for it.
Breeze are good American made clamps, great choice
I agree!
I replaced these hoses exactly as you suggested. It definitely helped the output. Thank u...
i have the same pool. I cannot figure out why the 2 round inlet(? ) Circle parts do not suck anything from the pool. No debris, no water...no suction at all. The only filtering i get is thru the skimmer attached to the side of the pool...its clean. But never could get the little circle, net looking inlets to work. They are hooked up correctly. I cant find any videos for this:/.
Just ordered a new pump and I wanted to upgrade my hoses this is exactly what I need thank you for posting this. Do you have a link for that outlet diverter?

Thank you so much for the video. Please share what adapter 1.25 to 1.5 inches did you use for the skimmer? Thank you
Hi Yelena, I put the link in the video description.
Interesting solution to the upgrade. Have same pool and planning to do upgrade as soon as the new sand filter comes in. Question i have relates to the output or jet on the other end which is a straight 1.5 from pump to pool as is, unlike the 1.25 tubes that came original on the pool. given the pool is already filled in my case ( and yours) did you swap out the Intex "aeration" inlet or did you keep it stock. I cannot for the life of me figure if you can screw it off while pool is full or if it makes difference in water output.
I did swap it out while full. I bit the bullet and just went for it. Fortunately, it was VERY easy and quick. I'd say for no more than 60 seconds water was coming out. Just have everything ready and you should be fine. The water pressure from everything coming out was minimal.
I didn’t use those small outlet ports, instead I installed a through wall skimmer. Keeps the pool cleaner and provides better flow to the pump. I also have a very nice water fall my girl friend and I built out of PVC that’s about 4 ft above the pool so the increased flow using the through wall skimmer makes it really flow good. I also used 1 1/2 “ hoses and PVC pipe.
Me too! Check out my latest video.
@@getitdone308 I used the same skimmer.
@@871jamieThe only thing I don't like about those through the wall skimmers, is that you can't fill the pool with as much water.
That is true. You lose a couple of inches. But it's not that noticeable. The tradeoff is worth it.
@@getitdone308 Definitely, I have the in the water skimmer, I'm not a huge fan, lol.
Any new videos coming by the way? Take care!
Ty couldn’t find any video on this

Great video! I just ordered the Intex 3000 gph sand pump so can you please post the links to the clamps and fittings you bought in amazon?
Sure thing. I just added them to the video description so everyone could see. Thanks for the feedback!
"You're only as strong as your weakest link" You'll never have full functional power as long as you have 1.25 conversions anywhere in your lines. They only way to actually fix this problem is to cut out the original inserts and replace them with 1.5
You're right! This conversion did improve my suction...but not maximize it. Check out my latest video where I upgraded even further this year
I feel the need to comment only because I barely figured this out. With the skimmer it comes with a little plug that slows the water suction on one side so the skimmer sucks more of the water. Last year I didn’t cover the other suction hole and skimmer worked but not as good as it does now that I use the plug that came with skimmer.
Correct! I covered that in my other video too.
Thank you so much for the video, it helped me so much. I just finished all the hose conversion and I am fixing to change out the portable skimmer to a Hayward skimmer. It was actually easy to convert after watching your video, thanks again!!!
Glad it helped. Check out my latest video where I converted to a Hayward skimmer too!
Exactly what I was looking for!

THANK YOU!!! Do you have a link of where you bought your adapters?
Yes, they are in the video description. Thanks!
Thank you for this video very helpful. But Im having trouble with the inlet now are you useing an adabtor for that too?
What problem are you having? My pool came with a 1.5" opening (TO the pool) already...and 1.25" openings (FROM the pool. So the water coming out of the pool comes out of 1.25" openings and goes back into the pool through a 1.5" opening.
@@getitdone308 oh I see well mind goes back into the pool with a 1.25 I have an intex pool 15x48 it came with a ok filter but we use the pool so much that it just wasn't working for us. I bought an upgrade thinking I could just get adapters. They worked for the outlets but the inlet was different all together I will probably just have to return it. Thank u for responding.
Is the inlet to the pool the same as the outlet from it? Is it the rubber/plastic "nipple"?
@@getitdone308 yes they are all the same size
@@getitdone308 yes they are rubber
GREAT VIDEO man, can you PLEASE give me the link to the directional eyeball you bought. I've tried 3 different brands & none of them fit. I have the same pool as you. Thanks so much Buddy
It came with my filter/pump system. When I upgraded, it was part of the kit. Check out my last video where I show how I got an even better eyeball for the Hayward skimmer.
New pool owner here and the video is great! I bought the same sand filter pump as you have here. I have Intex 15ft that comes with 1/4 fittings and I bought the adapters to fit 1/2 in (should be here today) but re: the Eyeball inlet do you need an adapter for that as well (to connect the inlet from inside the pool) ? since pump eyeball inlet comes in a 1/2 in. If an adapter is used (inside the pool) the inlet will not be flush against liner. Hope I make sense.
When I got the eyeball inlet, it came with the sand filter/pump kit, so it also came with the 1/2 adapter (and plunge valve), so it was ready out of the box.
@@getitdone308 are you saying the eyeball inlet came with your Intex sand filter pump or you purchased it seperately? I just purchased the Intex sand filter pump, just making sure I have all I need once it gets here. I'm a first time pool owner too!
Yes, when I bought my separate sand filter/pump/saltwater chlorinator (the 16" Intex filter), it came with the 1.5" outlet and adaptor.
Thanks for the video 🙏
Q: I Purchased 2 59” hoses with nuts but they are too long water not sucking in.

Very good video. There is so much out there that hasn't been explained simply. I upgraded to 1.5" pipes attached to my new Intex krystal sand filter. Those small grey filter pumps are useless but it seems we all get them and then replace them.
One area to to increase flow is to have your pipes vertical from the plunger valve and not across so quickly after the valve part. Your table thing isn't a good idea as it slows the flow.
Thanks Nigel. I agree about the vertical pipes. My pvc frame is there to keep my kids and dog from stepping on the pipes. My goal is to switch out the 1.25" stock t-junction to 1.5". When I do that, I'll coordinate everything so I don't "need" the pvc frame.
@@getitdone308maybe I will have to do the same with 4 dogs and 2 young kids... I plan to get the Hayward skimmer attached next as it seems to be a useful addition. It was good to see your Intex skimmer working well. In the UK no firm I have spoken to has thought of using the Hayward skimmer on an Intex pool. I actually spoke to a pool Co and explained what I was goiing to do with the product he sold. He sounded amazed. Also because of the supply problems from China there are no pool kit or equipment in the UK or Europe. Guys from the USA are selling on amazon intex kit that may sell for $19 like connectors for $70. It's crazy.
I'm seriously considering the Hayward skimmer. My only concern is whether or not my water level has to drop. My pool is 48" (ground to top of the pole), so it's about 44" actual inches of water. Do those Haywards make you bring your pool water level down?
@@getitdone308 that's an obvious concern but you don't actually. The skimmer is set 1 inch below the top of the pool liner. The mouth of the skimmer is opened and you set your water level about 3" above the lowest part of the opening. It's not like the intex skimmer that floats on the surface.
The rear collecting box is easily to access and it's not bobbing on the surface like the intex skimmer.
Whats crazy on intex products is there is very little supply of parts anywhere because of cv19 and factory delays and shipping from China..
I am considering buying a 4 pack of plunger valves on amazon USA and shipping them to the UK where I will use 2 and sell 2 to cover my costs. Its crazy.
Thanks for the info. It's very helpful. Here in the US, they're still available, but I have seen Supply and Demand impact the prices. The demand is high (summer and scarcity due to CV19), so the price can be abnormally high.
That's the reason I built a pool sprinkler myself. I saw the Intex one in April for about $99. Now I can't find it at all. But right before I went to buy one, it was $200. The Intex waterfall went from $55 in April to $199 as well.
Got to love a free market!
I have this same pool - thank you for the video. I’ve been having so many issues. I have no suction. Will check for air bubbles, etc. I want to install a skimmer like this one, but I don’t have a valve to shut off my other B port so I think I’ll just put a plug in it?!
That really depends on your pump and how strong it is. What ultimately helped me was installing an in-wall skimmer. It was awesome! Check out my video on it.
Great job I noticed you have a wooden steps going into the pool can you tell me what you used at the bottom of your steps
To protect the pool? I bought a rubber mat from Home Depot. The kind used in commercial kitchens. ruclips.net/video/QP9lvq23BTg/видео.html
Do you have a video on the steps you made for the pool , great video by the way
Thank you! I do. Check my channel. Admittedly, I built the steps before I decided to make a video, so it's more of a talk through.
Did you have any leaking with the plunger valves being attached to the type B adapters? Both pieces have a rubber gasket and I wonder if that might be a problem down the road? Thanks for the video!
No problems at all!
I love your video...I wanna do the same thing as you did. Many only question is where do you get the housing unit just inside the pool to connect the skimmer to? I have already ordered most parts as you mentioned. I have a similar pool as you, mine is 18' x 48". I'm gonna use my Intex pool pump I used last year...which is much stronger.
Check out this video for when I upgraded even further (and better). But to answer your question, the housing unit came with the skimmer I bought. ruclips.net/video/TpBitG1rns8/видео.html
@@getitdone308 I got the skimmer today. My question is the inlet valve cover inside the pool don't unscrew. The Intex skimmer came with the hose and screw on adapter to screw on. I can pull it out fine...just want unscrew. Thank you for the previous response.
There should be a tiny holding/mounting screw on the inlet. Take it out and the face will unscrew.
@@getitdone308 I removed the screw earlier, could not unscrew it. After your reply I tried again and was determined to unscrew it! It was screwed on VERY TIGHT, I used a paper towel wrap with vise gripes...and after several attempts...it broke loose. I got the skimmer going and the 1 1/2 hoses connected per your instructions. Working great! I really appreciate your help...Thank you.
@@getitdone308 I will probably do this after this season after I drain it. This procedure you did was on my mind when I set the pool up, I was kinda afraid to cut through the fabric wall...but seeing you have done it I might try it. My concern was leaks depending on the strength of the wall. It's a brand new Coleman Pool 18 x 48. However I think it's partially made by Bestway. I love it so far, just waiting for the water to warm up to jump in.
If you used the rubber cap to block a intake the suction gets a lot stronger
Yes it does. Check out my latest video for how I made it even stronger.
I would love to see a how to on your pvc pool hose holder
Unfortunately, I didn't make one.
I wanted to ask why a wooden latter in the water.. does it condition the water? Good video over all
Check out my video on the ladder. It's been awesome!
Hey im from Panama and I have a 12’ x 39’ and Im ordering the B adapters but i want to know if you think I can connect the pump hose directly to the adapters so I don’t need to buy the valve, what do you think?
You can. The issue is when you need to do ANY maintenance. You can't stop the water from flowing without a valve.
Hi. Thanks for the video. I’m a first time pool owner as well now and I’m looking for upgrades as well. I appreciate the links you provided too. Do you happen to have a link or remember the eyeball inlet that you could sent me?
Hi Freddie, the eyeball inlet came with the pool. A better one came with the skimmer I bought. When I upgraded my skimmer again...it came with the eyeball inlet. They do this because the skimmer is a system that requires the water to be "swirled" in the pool to move debris to the actual skimmer.
@@getitdone308 thank you. I saw that one came with the Hayward skimmer on your other video. My BestWay 20’x48” didn’t come with an eyeball inlet though. Maybe they changed the components. I’m planing on upgrading to the Hayward skimmer too but it will probably be next year since I have everything set up already. Thank for responding so quickly!
I have the same pool. Did it take much effort or isn’t it complicated to put in an eyeball jet outlet? Thanks for the video. It was great.
Great video. Great alternative to making the 1.5in holes for the suction.
Does anyone know if the 1.5 in inlets make the suction better than what is seen in the video? Or is the suction better because of the 1.5 in tubing?
Hi Ashay!
The suction is better because the bigger hoses allow more water to flow. That's why it's actually better to cut the 1.5 inch holes in the pool. Cutting the holes allows more water to enter the filtration system at the source. Without cutting the holes, it's still sucking water through 1.25" holes at the beginning...but opens up through the bigger tubes.
Also, I have the 1.5" inlet hoses on the stock Bestway t-junction...which has 1.25" connectors to a 1.5" flow to the filter. So I need to find a solution for that too.
The ONLY reason I'm not cutting the holes is because I'd have to drop the water. When I take it down (or next season when I put it up), I will be cutting the holes.
Once I've converted all connections to 1.5", the volume capacity is then maximized (no pinch-points).
Hope this helps!
Get it Done I can’t find a 1.5 in t joint for our intex pool. I don’t think they make one. I think I’ll have to get creative with pvc
Have you seen videos where people hold a plastic container on the inside to cut the opening larger?
I've seen many videos how to convert the 1.5" Intex coupler to PVC. I'll be creating a video on how I'm creating a sprinkler system to cool down the pool using the connections.
As far as the T-junction is concerned, I've looked high and low and can't find a factory one. It's weird because Intex and Bestway use 1.5" and 1.25" hoses...you'd think they'd have a part for the T-junction...but they don't (that I can find).
Once I do the sprinkler system, I'll be tackling that T-junction using a PVC fitting. I'll post it soon.
Get it Done how big of a t junction do you think would be a good size? 1.5” or 2”. I think I found a solution for both sizes. Is bigger always better?
Bigger isn't always better. I would stay consistent with your hose line size. 1.5" hoses...1.5" pool openings...1.5" T-Juntion. For the T-Junction, you're measuring for the INNER diameter (to match the inner diameter of the hose. I suppose if the junction was 2", it would pose no issue. But the bigger question is why go to 2" on the junction if you can go to 1.5"?
I'd love to see/consider your solution!
Do you by chance have the Amazon link to the eye ball inlet.. TIA
The eyeball inlet came with the skimmer.
I'm following the adapter outside the pool bit I need a skimmer..how did you attach the inside of pool..what do I need to order..it is bestway 18 x 52 has those small input on 1 1/4 pipe
I have a video on my skimmer. It shows how I attached it. Here's the link: ruclips.net/video/Rg6uIBo0aEg/видео.html
Let you know skimmer up and running..you know that your videos helped me change over to a larger pump and those plunge adapters are awesome. I refer your video to my friendswho are going to get an above ground pool
Glad to know they helped! As a 1st time above ground pool owner myself, I found it interesting that there weren't a lot of "how to" videos for upgrading. Instead, they were more of "this is what I did" as opposed to "this is how to do it".
I plan to do more, so please stay tuned!
Can you give us the measurements and the materials that you used to make the PVC stand for your hoses please? I have this issue as well with the hoses being too heavy
I used 1/2 inch PVC. There's no real plan for it. It's just a few 90° elbows and T's connecting them.
Nice stairs in to the pool . Do you got video on them
Yes I do!
I have a above ground pool 20x12x48 oval I watch your video I bought the b clamps but it wont fit on the T juntion on both sides any sugestion
Did you have the same B Clamps I had? The same T junction?
Great videos. I know you have since upgraded to an external skimmer but was hoping I could get your opinion. I just got a new skimmer like you have in this video and I also have a solar pad. The solar pad works well but I don't think my pump is strong enough (1500 gph) to create the suction needed for the skimmer to work. I like your idea of upgrading to 1.5 hoses and the plunger valves, but in Canada, those plunger valves are quite expensive on amazon. I will however just try plugging one of the intakes with the black stopper that comes with the pool. Another idea I had was to get a simple cartridge pump. Could I essentially run my skimmer off of one inlet full time (much like you do with your external skimmer) but instead of plugging the other inlet, hook the cartridge pump up and use it to run my solar pad. I would just have to rest the hose from the pad on the edge of the pool but in this case I would eliminate the T and have my pump/sand filer dedicated to the skimmer and the smaller cartridge pump running the solar pad. I would really appreciate your thoughts? Thanks in advance.
That would work. You would need to have the outlet from the second pump go straight in the pool somehow. You could cut another hole (risky but effective) or just overhang a hose into your pool (no risk, just not very aesthetically pleasing)
I too have noticed that Intex products have skyrocketed in price this year (like 2-4x from last year). You could always plumb it yourself with flexible PVC and ball valves which may be cheaper than Intex.
@@getitdone308 Thanks for your input. Much like you, my pool is also one that I will take down in the winter so it would have to be flexible pvc. I'd have to price that in my area. I think the set up I suggested could work but the only part I am not thrilled with is the hose coming from the solar pad would have to rest on the pool frame. I gave it a lot of thought but couldn't think of an affordable easy way to T or pipe it in. (my wife wont let me cut any holes in the liner ha ha). Thanks again.
How big is your pool? Have you considered a bigger pump? That way you can use the existing holes.
@@getitdone308 Yes I've considered it. Our pool is 22'x12'x48". We just got this pool this year from costco. It came with a 1500gph pump, sand filter and the solar pad. I wish it came with a bigger pump but since this is brand new to us, I don't see us investing in a new pump quite yet. Honestly I am quite surprised how little suction there is. Up to this point it really hasn't been an issue but I just ordered a skimmer and I worry it wont suck at all, just like in your earlier videos. I do plan to block one of the inlets with the included stopper, hence why I thought I could add a small pump connected to that hole.
They always give you the pump with the bare minimum specs. I sold my (new) pump that came with the pool almost immediately and was able to apply the $ towards an appropriate pump. I would seriously consider upgrading. You will be happy you did.
Where did you get that mat for underneath the ladder legs? I'm looking for something like this.
Home Depot. They have them in the stores. About $30
Where you get the eyeball inlet I have the same pool did all the upgrades like you did all I need is that inlet
It came with the upgraded pump I purchased.
What is the part called that the leaf trap hose it attached to? It has two black wires attached to it and then a hose runs to the tank with the sand in it. I purchased the 3000 Intex Sand filter but that did not come with it.
That is the saltwater chlorinator. I love it! I haven't had to add any chlorine to my pool!
Thank you for this video! I need some more help on how to get the inlet to work on the inside of the pool. I have no idea how to adapt it😢can you help? Also I’m trying to do the same mods that you did and also a first time pool owner. I don’t want to mess it up, I need help🙏🏻
I do have a series of videos, so check them out. The next year I upgraded to full 1.5" hoses and it was a game changer!
Thanks for the video, how come you cant just plug one inlet and run the skimmer directly to the pump with 1 line thats 1.5?
There's a couple reasons and things to co sidereal before doing that. The forst is dependent on your pump. If you have a weaker pump, you'll need both inlets to provide water.
Also, in the event you don't want to run the skimmer (which the manufacturer tells you to do when the pool is in use), then having both inlets running is optimal.
To your point though, I ultimately made the leap to an exterior skimmer that fixed the problem outright.
did you use treated lumber for your steps and what are they setting on in the pool
Yes I did. I have them setting on a rubber mat (the kind that go in commercial kitchens). It's been up for 3 years now. Working great. No problems!
This is exactly where I am. Bestway 15ft. I bought the small adapters like you, no plunger valve. Switched everything to 1.5. new Intex sand filter and NO matter what I do here...the sand valve cover is overflowing(o ring is fine, everything is on tight) whether it's running or not...the second I let water into the pump ...over flows. And the hoses are hanging so bad. I had them tied up and lifted up some (one they are so damn long it's unnecessary) but this morning I'm letting them lay on the ground and see if that's better. Idk what else to do
"Sand valve cover"? The top of the sand filter with the handle/switch?
@@getitdone308 I think I mean the 6valve gasket cover. The main lid to the pump
@@getitdone308 lol sorry my terminology is probably wrong but yes the lid to the pump. Has the o ring in place, has the circular clamp to put around the tank and seal the gasket cover. It just floods. I have an Intex Krystal clear pump.
If water is coming out where the lid meets the filter (where you screw clamp it down), then it has to be because it's not tight enough. That clamp has to be cinched very tightly. I had to get my impact wrench to get it tight enough.

As soon as I put 1.5 inch hoses on it was heavy enough to rip off the adapters (I did use the plastic clamps though so I will try the metal) I'm wondering if you found the plunge to help with that? I thought it would add even more weight so I didn't get them. But maybe I should try that😂 idk. Something is causing this new pump to overflow and it's got to be the hose positions or something because I have double checked this pump 100 times and the o ring couldn't be any more secure
The plunge valves definitely help with that.
We have a Bestway 15 ft round 48 in deep pool. Can I ask how you connect the blower inside the pool and plunger valve outside the pool with the holes in the pool sides that are too small?
You need to get Type B adapters. Intex 4 Pack Type B Adapter for Above Ground Pools Converts 1.25" to 1.5" a.co/d/1fi1s2Q
Got a link to these the link you got shows something different I can only find these that go to the 1 1/4 inch
Intex 4 Pack Type B Adapter for... www.amazon.com/dp/B07F91K3NC?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Are they still holding up good or have u changed for this season?
They held up fine. I did do another upgrade. I have another video coming out shortly. Keep your eye out for it.
So, on 08:04 , if i have plastic from inside in ruber, can i this adapter put on? Have intex pool with 32, and pump 38 with scroow 🙈
I'm not exactly clear on what you're asking. The adapter is made to clamp onto the small rubber (or plastic) tube that is attached to the pool (and is the smaller diameter...in this case 1.25" or 32mm). So as long as you have the small 32mm plastic/rubber tube that is attached to your pool, the adapter should work perfectly.
Get it Done I saw that adapter to buy, but I thought to put a 32 tube ON it.
Those clamps are made to convert a 32mm opening on your pool (or wherever) to a 38mm hose. If you have a 38mm Intex hose, then you use the clamp to allow that hose to be used...otherwise you have to use 32mm hoses.
Where did you find that adapter to go from the skimmer to the pool inlet? The skimmer came with the hose and that blue screw on adapter but nothing to go into the inlet hole.
It's the inlet that came with the pool. There's a little screw on it that after you remove it, you can unscrew the cap and it exposes the threads. Then you screw the blue adapter to it.
@@getitdone308 aaaahhhhh. Thanks! Weird that they put a screw through it!
In order to run this pump, did you have to cut your pool lining for the pool inlet “A”?
No I did not. But I did do that the following year. Check out my other video to see what I did.
Hello, what is this grey housing that you are pointing at @ 11:08 into the video.. thank you!! the 1.25 to 1.5 inch adapters dont seem to come with a housing (looking at amazon picture)
It came with the skimmer. It's the piece that connects to the pool inlet.
I just bought the 3000 gph intex sand pump for my 22 ft Coleman pool. I’m completely overwhelmed and don’t know where to start with hooking the actual pump up to the pool, do you have a video from when you did yours? This video was super helpful tho, I didn’t know how I was going to change out the 1 1/4 hoses to 1 1/2 so thanks for clearing that up at least!!
I don't, but I'd like to help. Do you have a saltwater chlorinator as well?
@@getitdone308 I don’t have a saltwater chlorinater, just the new pump
Ok. Are you upgrading any of the hoses or are you staying with what came with your pool originally?
I took a screenshot of the things you bought to change out the hoses, is that all I need to buy to hook the sand pump up?
So we need to clarify what you need help with. Do you need help with your pump/sand filter connection...or do you need help with converting the smaller hoses to the bigger hoses?
This video shows how to convert to the bigger hoses. Connecting them to the filter...I didn't do anything different than what my original pool instructions told me to do.
Hi I stumbled upon your video and I feel like I would benefit from your upgrade would u mind letting me know or linking the plungers and all the size of hoses you used to make easier for me to purchase the correct ones please
Hi Beatriz,
I've added them in the video description. Let me know if you have any questions. Hope it helps!
Hi thank you for your reply how many plungers and hoses are needed also can you link the t-suction
The T-junction came with my pool already. It's a 1.25" inlet to a 1.5" outlet. I plan to upgrade that at the end of the summer to a fill 1.5" all around.
As far as hose and plunger counts are concerned, that depends on your pool. Mine has two inlets (to the filter) and one outlet (to the pool). This means I need 4 1.5" hoses total (2 from the pool to the T junction, 1 from the T junction to the filter, and one from the filter to the pool). It also means I need 3 plunger valves (2 at the inlets and one at the outlet). When I upgraded my pump, it came with a plunger valve already
18ft by 9ft 48in Bestway oval pool, 3500 gallon capacity, should I buy the 2100 gph sand filter from intex or 2800gph given the size of the pool. Also when using an intex sand filter on Bestway pool, are the adapters and clamps the only thing required to make it compatible to the pool?
With that size pool, you probably only need the smaller one. That said, there shouldn't be any harm to get the bigger one. It just filters more water per hour (no harm in that).
The Intex/Bestway compatibility is almost identical right out of the box. In other words, you can connect to Intex hoses to the Bestway fittings no problem.
Get it Done thanks for quickly responding, sounds good. Also, do you have a link on setting up the skimmer, need to also purchase that too
I do! Hope it helps! ruclips.net/video/Rg6uIBo0aEg/видео.html
Can you detail how you made your pool steps please? I have the same pool and I bought premade stringers and they are giving me hell🤦🏼♀️🥴😩🤯
The stringers will work, but they're not "steep" so as long as you use them for the outside of the pool (the stairs...not the inside ladder) you'll need to add more distance. If you do use them for the inside ladder, you can...but again, the stairs will go far into your pool.
Actually the stringers for the outside of the pool are a great idea. Just bolt/screw the top side of each of the stringers to the H-frame (exactly like I did with the ladder I made).
The reason I didn't use stringers was because I couldn't find any pre-made that were tall enough.
I have a video showing my steps in detail. Check it out!

What is the "pool nipple" part you referred to before assembling any of the intake/ outake valve parts? My pool is missing this part and I need to replace it. Thanks!
It's the rubber piece that's attached to the pool that you clamp the hose to.
@@getitdone308 For sure, but I can't seem to find this particular piece anywhere. Any ideas? I appreciate it.
@@getitdone308 It is 100% a stupid question. I'm just blown away that I can't find any information in regards to this piece. I was contemplating using a 3/4" pvc pipe or something, but what I ended up purchasing and attempting to put together just leaked anyway. I just don't want to keep buying couplers of sorts just to consistently have leaks.
You can't find it anywhere because it's attached to the pool. It's not something you buy. That said, if you wanted to, you could cut them out and affix bigger openings for bigger hoses.
@@getitdone308 Thank you! That makes more sense now. I was given a new pool but it was missing these parts.
did all those 1.5 inch hoses come with the intex sand pump? or did you have to buy those separate also?
I had to buy those separate. Check out the last video I posted that shows the even better (full) conversion to 1.5. It's WAY better!
Nice video. Can you tell us where you purchased the adapter at 6:19 to go from the surface skimmer hose to the 1.25" inlet on the pool please? I don't see a link in your description. TIA.
Thanks. Hope it helps.. check out my latest video where I upgraded to 1.5" completely. In the meantime, the black plug came with the pool and came with my skimmer. I didn't buy them separately. You can get them on Amazon though...www.amazon.com/dp/B08JTRYS5G/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_QSWE3SE0B3QWJYPYX8RV?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
@@getitdone308I can’t seem to find this video referenced for the whole conversion….i bought the new filter system and the adapters and only when I went to install did I realize I need the plungers AND more 1.5 hoses. A total conversion part list and video would be awesome
It sounds like you have the list. You need plunger, the skimmer (which comes with the adapters), and 1.5" hoses. Everything else came stock with my pool and filter.
