Welcome to Get it Done! Eric here and I'm here to help you do just that: Get it Done. This channel is created to show you tips and tricks that I have found to help me and my family get things done using a Do It Yourself (DIY) mentality.
Yes, you can call an expert out to get many things done, but also YES, you can get it done yourself with a little ingenuity, determination, and for much less money out-of-pocket. Sometimes it's necessary to call in the professionals, but I've found that most times, I can do it for so much cheaper if I put a little thought into it.
I have a basic tool collection and many years experience in fixing up my home using them. I'm confident you can use this knowledge as a springboard to fix it yourself, build it yourself, DO IT YOURSELF,...and just get it done!

Sail Shade Over Above Ground Pool
Being in Texas means that my pool is exposed to HOT temperatures a lot. Heating it is not a problem. In the dead of summer, it'll be in the 90's (the pool, not the air). Further, if there's no shade, having the sun beat down on you can make the pool less fun.
So I installed a shade sail for above the pool. It allows about 1/3 - 1/2 of my pool to be covered at any given time making it possible to be shaded in some of the pool...and in the sun in others.
I used 2 of my trees and my ladder as the 3 points of contact and used ratchet straps to keep it tight.
It works great!
You can buy any sail shade you want. I got mine at Amazon for about $30 and a set of ratchet straps can be $20-$40...depen...

Easily Converting a Bestway Above Ground Pool to an EXTERNAL Skimmer. 4 Awesome Benefits!
Просмотров 63 тыс.3 года назад
Last year, when I was a first time pool owner, I added an Intex skimmer to my above ground pool. It worked great...when nobody was in the pool. Unfortunately, I needed something more than what the Intex skimmer could deliver, so I upgraded to a Hayward skimmer...which is an EXTERNAL skimmer...meaning I had to CUT into my above ground pool. It was easy, and the benefits were astounding! Benefit ...
Drain Your Bestway Above Ground Pool ALL THE WAY!

The Bestway pools are great and they come with just about everything you need to properly use them. When it comes to taking them down after the season, they even give you a hose adapter/valve that easily drains the pool...well MOST of the pool. The valve isn't on the "true" bottom of the pool, so when the water drops below the valve...nothing else comes out. This video will show you how to easi...
High Salt / Code 92 Intex Saltwater Chlorinator for my Above Ground Pool
Просмотров 16 тыс.4 года назад
Please LIKE and SUBSCRIBE! I have an Intex saltwater chlorinator system. I purchased Clorox salt test strips that told me that I was drastically low on salt. I trusted them, but made a rookie mistake: I forgot my Intex system will tell me if my salt is too low. So what did I do? I added more salt to my pool due to the Clorox strips telling me I needed to. So what happened? Well...my Intex chlor...

Converting a Bestway Above Ground Pool to Intex 1.5 inch Hoses Using Type B Adapters
Просмотров 243 тыс.4 года назад
I have a Bestway Above Ground Pool that is 20 feet by 48 inches. It's great! We upgraded our filter to an Intex 16" sand filter with saltwater chlorination along with an Intex skimmer. We quickly learned that the 1.25" stock hoses that came with the pool weren't providing efficient suction and were quickly introducing air into the filter system. Additionally, the Intex skimmer wouldn't function...
Intex Pool Skimmer Upgrade for Bestway Above Ground Pool
Просмотров 60 тыс.4 года назад
The Intex Skimmer for above ground pools is awesome. However it needs some slight modification for (likely) anything other than Intex pools. My pool is a Bestway (Coleman) 20 foot by 48 inch pool and it doesn't quite attach the way I want it to.
Above Ground Pool Heavy Duty Wood Ladder and Steps
Просмотров 58 тыс.4 года назад
We all know that the ladders that come with above ground pools tend to be very basic and very unstable. I found that if I created my own ladder system, I was able to save hundreds as opposed to purchasing any other ladder or step system. I am using this system on my Bestway (Coleman) above ground pool that is 20 feet by 48 inches. I don't have a full (detailed) shopping list. I made a few trips...
Bestway Above Ground Pool - 1st Time Pool Owner

I'm a first time pool owner. This video is the first in a series of showing tips and tricks that I have learned from other RUclipsrs and DIYers along with some of my own personal know-how and skills. This is a Bestway (Coleman) above ground pool that is 20 feet by 48 inches tall, with an Intex 16 inch sand filter with salt water chlorination.
THANK YOU. I could not figure out what kind of adapter I needed to do this It's a type b! Thank you so much This does help thanks for caring
Thank you so much! Over the years, ive used a shop vac which takes WAY too long and so much effort. I just tried this and its draining right now! THANK YOU!!
Glad it helped!
Were can I find the link to those plunger valves please
Amazon. Just look for Intex plunger valves
@@getitdone308 thank you for responding 👍
Is that a Coleman pool 18 x48?
Bestway 20x20 (same as Coleman)
@@getitdone308 ok thanks because I wanted to know because I also wanted to put those water valves like you did because it's a pain having to clean the filter every time and having to un do those hoses and just wanted to know the size of those port's to get the same set up as you my friend and thanks for the video very appreciated 👍
Check out my other video where I upgraded further to full 1.5" hoses. I did an in-wall skimmer. Made a WORLD of difference.
Could you just plug up one of the B holes and use a single hose. From your skimmer to the pump?
To do what?
@getitdone308 to not have to mess with plunger valve and hose on the intake your not using.
I have this same pool - thank you for the video. I’ve been having so many issues. I have no suction. Will check for air bubbles, etc. I want to install a skimmer like this one, but I don’t have a valve to shut off my other B port so I think I’ll just put a plug in it?!
That really depends on your pump and how strong it is. What ultimately helped me was installing an in-wall skimmer. It was awesome! Check out my video on it.
Great idea but the wood in the water won’t last
It's lasted for years. Given me zero problems.
@@getitdone308 that’s awesome
It really is! Love that thing!
@@getitdone308 yeah my wife tore her meniscus she had surgery and I liked your video. It’s perfect it’ll be perfect for her once she’s healed
3years later and still helping people with this! You sir need a cape as your a hero.. I was using a bucket then found your video! Thank you! 🙏
Glad it helped!
Thank you
Hope it helped
Do the hoses tangle? How do you stop it from doing it?
The hoses float and pivot around the connection on the vacuum. So tangling really isn't an issue.
@@getitdone308 Every time mine runs, I have to check every 10 or so minutes because it tangles and just won't keep on running, just stays in one place.
That may be a water pressure issue. If there's not enough pressure going through it, it simply won't move.
Thank you!
THANK YOU!!!!! 🤯
Hope it helped!
In order to run this pump, did you have to cut your pool lining for the pool inlet “A”?
No I did not. But I did do that the following year. Check out my other video to see what I did.
It was getting the exact same suction. You STILL only have a 1 1/4” hose opening lmao. Wow. 🤦♂️
It was slightly more. It enables me to use hoses and accessories that are more accessible...and as you saw, it helped with my skimmer. It was definitely an upgrade. But if you look at my other video, you'll see where I went to full 1.5". That was way better!
Just curious, what kind of wood glue did you use and did you use the wood glue for the ladder inside the pool too? And if so is toxic to put it in the water?
Just standard Tite Bond wood glue. I had no problems with the water/chemicals at all. My chemical levels were always fine.
@@getitdone308 ok thank you
Do you have a video on the steps you made for the pool , great video by the way
Thank you! I do. Check my channel. Admittedly, I built the steps before I decided to make a video, so it's more of a talk through.
It didnt work for me and Idk why
It has to be a true siphon...meaning...NO AIR WHATSOEVER in the hose, the end in the pool has to be at a higher elevation than the other end going to the lawn. Otherwise, it won't work.
What pump do you have?
I have a bigger saltwater pump. It was well worth the upgrade!
It didn't work for me
Be sure it's a true siphon. This means NO air in the hose whatsoever, and the end of the hose in the pool must be HIGHER than the end in your yard.
Great video! However, My man clean your pool before turning on that skimmer....
Had to keep it to show how it worked. Otherwise...yep! Pool was always clean.
Ive tried this sooo many times and it never worked for me :( i think its because gravity is working against me, my patio w the the water spicket is up hill quiet a bit. But i spent so much time trying to get it to work. My pool is BLACK w some NASTY floating stuff! I let it go midsummer last year, just didnt have the time, then it sat all winter, I would trust swamp water w gaters before getting in that thing! I got it all drained except the bottom 3 inches... (a lot of water!) 25×52... I still wont get in that 3 inches. Cant see through it AT ALL 😳😳🫣
Gravity is your enemy here. Yes, the pool has to be higher than where the water goes out the hose.
@@getitdone308 I decided to fill the hose, held both ends up, (hose full of water) carried it to the pool, threw one end in, and threw the other downhill, and that worked!! So it at least gave me an idea of what else to try! Thank you!
Your 1 1/2 inch adapters didn’t make a difference because you still have a 1 1/4 inch restriction at your inlets. How you created more suction was by adding the on/off valves which let you stop suction at one inlet and divert all the suction to the inlet with the skimmer. I have a similar setup. Next year I’ll be cutting out the 1 1/4 inch inlets and installing proper 1 1/2 inch fittings to create much more suction at the skimmer.
The internet 1.5 hose...is that what was connected to the B spot on pool? I wish I could send you a pic of my setup so you can help since it's pvc. I have a leak and no idea how to fix it
Thankyou SO much!! I started bailing with a bucket and was like " Oh Heck No"! Lol This worked great! Plus, I would have tried to use my mouth if I hadn't seen this way!!! Lolol We've all done it! 🤢 Thanks again
Glad it helped. That's exactly what to avoid!
How come it didn’t work for me??
It has to be a true siphon. Meaning NO/ZERO air in the hose. The end IN the pool has to be a higher elevation than the other end (so gravity can take place). I'm literally doing this right now in my hot tub. Also, depending on your hose, some of the newer ones are 1-way (I learned that the hard way).
Thank you for this video! I need some more help on how to get the inlet to work on the inside of the pool. I have no idea how to adapt it😢can you help? Also I’m trying to do the same mods that you did and also a first time pool owner. I don’t want to mess it up, I need help🙏🏻
I do have a series of videos, so check them out. The next year I upgraded to full 1.5" hoses and it was a game changer!
I am tired of tadpoles. I just found tons of them in my pool after the cover went down in the water. I want to just drain it out, wash it then refill 😢😢
This process will help!
Most likely mosquitoes
Can you tell me how you converted jet nozzle from 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 from jet nozzle to hose at pool side?
If you're talking about the hose that puts water IN the pool...it's already 1.5".
@@getitdone308 mine is 1-1/4 bestway pool
Closing one of the outlet valves doesn't cause your pump to work harder? I'm wanting to upgrade our hoses but afraid it'll strain the sand pump
I never had that problem. That said, I upgraded further and did a cut out skimmer and it was awesome! Check out that video on my page.
@getitdone308 we upgraded the hoses from 1¼in to the 1½in hoses. Now my pump pressure is high. Backwash and rinse help for about 30mins to and hour and pressure goes back up. Could my pump not be big enough to handle the upgrade?
That definitely could be the case! I upgraded my pump to a bigger one.
Nice stairs in to the pool . Do you got video on them
Yes I do!
thank you so much for theses videos amazing i have been looking for this and no one has the video that i exactly needed to make this work thank you thank you please keep making more of them 👍
Hope it helps. Check out my other video where I upgraded even further.
Great video man! After the 1st year with a 14’x48” Bestway pool, we definitely needed a skimmer. Then realized I had to up grade to a bigger filter. I didn’t want to cut any holes into the pool. I bought the wrong adapters. This video is really helpful. Thanks!
Just add the on/off valves. No need for the adapters since you’ll still have 1 1/4 inch restriction at the inlets. He created more suction by turning off the valve without the skimmer!
The on/off valves need the adapters. They're 1.5. They won't fit on the 1.25 inlets.
What setting did you put your sand filter pump on ?
There's only 1 setting really..."on".
Thank you so much!! I was stressing on how I was going to manage this by myself. This is brilliant!
Hope it helps!
Where you get the eyeball inlet I have the same pool did all the upgrades like you did all I need is that inlet
It came with the upgraded pump I purchased.
I have the same pool. Did it take much effort or isn’t it complicated to put in an eyeball jet outlet? Thanks for the video. It was great.
Are the steps going into the pool 10 inches high to get to 50 inches on top platform thanks
I'm pretty sure that was the case. You can make them as close as you want.
Are you suppose to take this type of pool down every fall? My neighbor never takes her pool down in the fall. She has this same pool. Come fall she empties her pool out 1/2 way and puts a cover on it. Then come spring She empties it out cleans it and refills it. So far she's had no issues. We live in Ohio...
You don't HAVE to. I chose to because I had a dedicated storage space for it. That said, I always didn't rust how well they'd last in the Texas summer (here). The more it's up and out in the off-season, the more chances it has to get hit by something (kids, trees, etc) and rip or get punctured. I've seen 50/50 people keep it up and winterized vs. store it.
For plunge valves

Awesome, thank you. Just what I've been looking for :). A quick question; on the pool side, did you find the preservative in the wood contaminated the pool in any way?
I get asked that a lot. Truthfully...no. I didn't see any noticeable impact to my pool. It's a salt water system. Also, I was very focused on my water/chemicals. I didn't have to do anything different to keep it all balanced. It was the BEST upgrade I did for my pool, hands down.
Thank you for your quick reply, much appreciated 🙏
Thank you so much!! This worked like a charm 🎉
Glad it helped!
Wood in the pool? Won't it warp, splinters?
In the 3 years I had it...never a splinter. To be fair, the 3rd year when I was installing it, I noticed a spot on the top that may cause a snag, so I sanded it down smooth. Easy fix. It didn't warp either. I did put a kitchen rubber mat on the pool floor under the legs so it didn't rub. Honestly, it was THE best upgrade I did for my pool.
I know this is a few years old, but can you tell me what eyeball inlet you used? I’m assuming to fit a 1 1/4? I’m just a girl trying to change a pool filter pump lol so I’m sorry if I’m sounding dumb.
The eyeball inlet I used came with the Intex pump. Later, I upgraded to an in-wall skimmer/filter and got a different/better eyeball inlet. I have a video for that as well.
The way you have the new hose is only pulling water out by the skimmer to pump, you should have skimmer and one of the other ports pulling water to pump
There wasn't enough suction to keep them both open. Also, that pool was made to pull from 2 smaller hoses. This allowed to pull from 1 larger hose.
It worked all the way up until the end. Too much to start cleaning and a too much to flip the pool. Probably will just have to wet vac it out.
I had to do that once the water level was well below the diameter of the hose.
Try ading lamp to fountain
That would be cool! Needs to he safe though. Water and electricity don't mix.
I couldn’t get this to work 😕. Tried and tried. Moving and need to get rid of the pool. No time to order more pumps so looks like we’ll have to slash the sides open and toss it 😞
Siphoning is dependent on 3 things: 1. The hose stays full of water (no air...at all) 2. The hose is submerged in water where the water goes in (in your pool). No air. 3. The other end of the hose is not elevated higher than where the water goes in (gravity helps propel the water) Can you confirm that's the case?
Ty couldn’t find any video on this
Hope it helped!
That's what she said 😂
Outstanding video, a much need for me right now.
Hope it helped!
