That was The best documentary that I have ever seen on Long Kesh/ The Maze. Peter Taylor did an absolutely fantastic job, just listening to him and the mannerisms as he tells the story, you can see he has a personal connection with the events he is telling you about. They were terrible times for all concerned, thankfully the likes we will never see again.
Peter Taylor is a remarkable man covering the troubles from basically the start rite throo to the present day what an achievement he's done he deserves a medal for all his hard work and dedication he has put in to all the documentaries well thousands thanks Peter Taylor love looking back on these dark years on the troubles
He seems lije sych a decent nan does Peter Taylor he actually reminds me quite a lot of my dad when my dad was a bit younger. Anyway mych respect to mister Taylor for his lifetimes work on reporting the Ireland conflict as well as many others
As a southern republican like most in the republic it sure feels sad that all that had to happen and still Ireland is not reunited but the foundation is laid and it is close now and everyone knows it.. My greatest respect to Peter Taylor..he is what you call a real journalist not like the bias lefty fake news type nowadays.
Interesting to hear the interpretation of an English journalist, Peter Taylor, after meeting a republican prisoner who said he was normal, Taylor's response was 'normal people don't kill people'. And to compare it with the response of an Irish minister after meeting loyalist David Irvine, the Irish minister came away with the thought: if a man as intelligent and fundamentally decent as David Irvine became a paramilitary, then something must be very wrong in Northern Irish society.'
If you're not Irish you shouldn't be making silly statements like this ..wdf are you from anyway...???Do you think they were there by choice like they were criminals or something..???
Could Mr Taylor in all his wisdom just once acknowledge the IRISH NATIONAL LIBERATION ARMY . I’ve watched many documentaries he’s done brilliant but remember Mr Taylor Eirey Neave wasn’t just executed by Republicans but INLA Republicans for someone so versed on the Irish Struggle you constantly air brush these Volunteers out for whatever reason ? You made quite the living out of this struggle so don’t censor.
I think he does that in an effort to simplify things for the everyday viewer back here on the mainland. I can understand your frustration but he's trying to both attract & inform a largely unknowing audience and trust me the average Brit knows little about NI and cares even less unfortunately.
@@garrychalmers67 he has throughout his history of reporting and documentation neglected to mention the INLA on many many occasions choosing to say REPUBLICANS . I’ve watched everything he’s done and he neglects to mention the organisation on many occasions not to mention calling the 1981 Hungerstrike an IRA hungerstrike .
@@Sean-zg4iy I get your point on the simplification , not knowing or indeed caring what went on here to specify the INLA may confuse matters but I’m from here I lived it so it’s important that all combatants are afforded the history they attributed to .
respect to peter taylor as an englishman telling it how it is never any bias. great journalist. love his docs.
I read somewhere that he was one of few journalists that both republicans and loyalists would talk to.
The Best Journalist in my lifetime a man that Commanded Respect from all sides.

Peter Taylor talks and people listen, past present and future generations. 🇮🇪
Mr. Taylor is a remarkable journalist. Love his books, particularly “Behind The Mask: The IRA and Sinn Fein.”I couldn’t put it down. 📖
I loved this book too! So many details and perspectives
They must have been like ice boxes in the winter...
They were, I used to put my jeans between the blankets so they were dry in the morning.. The huts were damp

Like Connollys and Pearse did the lit the fire to keep the struggle alive for the future

Just what one would expect from this man , a teary eyed eulogy for republican sands. , And barely concealed contempt for loyalist wright..
INLA most important hit was by Crip at the end when executing Billy Wright
Peter Taylor = legend, if he was Irish I’m sure he’d be a republican
So this is all who is left of the the maze and the h blocks?
so true it is like the INLA never played it's part for national liberation of our country only sinn fein ever gets mentioned
Wait!! What! Liberation!! When? How? Have I missed the whole thing, can I see it on on Channel 4+1?
Yeah but you know about f****** private schools and hutts
Too good a place for them. I would have had them all breaking stones for gravel.

Shower of scumbag Republican murdering bastards. FUCK INLA
