Why not write a fact novel? You could describe how the women,children & babies were murdered, and for what? Ireland should be one country & myself and my fellow soldiers thought the same but the terrorism?
Did you sleep through history? Certainly looks like it. You make it sound like their were only victims in one aspect of the conflict. Bizarre. Some PIRA volunteers (& INLA) were more or less persuaded to join up because of beatings dished out by British soldiers at road blocks. Big hard tough squaddies armed with an SLR battering the fuck out of teenagers having stopped them at a roadblock, all basically because they lived in the wrong area or had the wrong surname or had a family member that already got involved. Catholics were second class citizens, even down to housing allocation. How many people has the British empire killed in Ireland? How much vote rigging has taken place? Political gerrymandering at its finest. Lets not forget that the first victims of the modern day conflict were those innocent civilians killed by the UVF.

My father was on the blanket with Michael. I went to Sprinvale tech in West Belfast and it just happened that Michael worked there. I got to know him and we became good pals while I was there. He spoke very fondly of my father which made me proud. True gent Michael. 🇮🇪
