The "fake vacation" aspect is because Disney had effectively offered a few VIP influencers a more in-depth preview experience. The "screen" you see on the window is called a fresnel, it basically evens out the light coming out of it So the edges don't appear darker than the center. It may also magnify the size of whats on the other side.
This room changes everything I think. Imagine getting a bunch of friends together and splitting up the cost. I think people got stuck into thinking the Starcruiser was a family of 4 thing but after watching all the videos of this place so far, it is much more of an multi family and friends combo adventure which cuts your individual costs in half or more making this soooo much more worth it.

True but a lot of people have complained that the standard rooms are much too small for the price. Disney didn't think this through very well. And the price is ludicrous.
Do the bedroom night stands fold up into the wall??? That could resolve the closet door conflict.... Lets see the space window with the lights off... may look way better and not light polluted....Bright Suns!!!!
Seriously, for $6k, I can fly to Turkey for a week and stay at an all inclusive 5 star resort that serves all you can eat truffle and caviar, and still have an extra $3k left over.
If they made it themed like this with minimalist amenities and made it a moderate or moderate resort? Then you could transport back to earth and go to the parks I mean with this price tag there isn’t even a pool or hot tub lol
The view ports like a projection TV screen. With like the magnifying screen. I'm usually not into spoilers, but since ill probably never see the inside or stay there, im loving all your videos of the Halcyon. Thanks!
Disney filed a bunch of payments for collimated displays in 2020. Above the window, it looks like there's a space for a projector, pointed to a bigger screen, with a lens in front. The lens means the view looks the same for any angle while giving the perception that things are far away. They use the same technology in flight simulators used for pilot training.
I could not imagine crawling on a hotel room floor to go through a "secret tunnel". Just stop and think about that; crawling on a hotel room floor. That would be so nasty over time as more and more people stay there!
Every ounce of criticism Disney is getting is deserved. They've made so many bad calls after obtaining the rights to Star Wars it should be a stark reminder that if you focus on what people want rather than what you think people need that that business model will serve you best. Disney had a slam dunk with the Star Wars IP and have slowly been destroying that on their own.
Less of a sterile hospital feel, more of a really nice, new, multi-car garage feel. No, I wouldn't hide in the tunnel. I'd worry the doors wouldn't open for some reason, though, if they act like the shower door, they wouldn't close completely.
Oh and I forgot to mention the secret tunnel. Good grief what were they thinking. I mean who is it for. The dog? The kids? I mean that's just what you need when you're in bed, the kids creeping up on you. Yikes
Great video.. I love the tour.. especially the Indiana Jones and the Little Bedroom Tunnel adventure. Hope your gravity generators stay active your entire voyage..
I’ve noticed on both room tours that is sounds like there is no noise proofing. You can hear people in both loud as heck. I hope this is just some strange video thing.
Maybe but CHEAPek wouldn't want to put any real value in this silly excuse for a hotel. Golly, they don't even give you free drinks on your first night...
Correct me if I’m wrong, but this still only sleeps 4? I think I would rather sleep in the bunk beds. From what I’ve watched on other YT channels you’re not in the room much, if you wanna fully immersed experience.
what's the point of storage if you are only there 2 nights, I wouldn't even unpack my bags for that. I would pay maybe under $2000 for that stay but I still can't see anything from this hotel that warrants a $6000 price tag. For that I would just remodel my family room and make my own version. But I hope you enjoyed the stay.
The room looks so much better than I thought it would. The little details really standout. I love the tunnel/ secret entrance between the two rooms. The Galaxy Suite is a very nice size. I am not sure the double shower was a great choice. If there was a divider down the center maybe. But having 2 toilet rooms would have been a better choice. There usually aren’t too many shower emergencies. But more than one potty emergency at the same time is a much more likely scenario. My recommendation would have been 1 shower and 2 toilet rooms!
I bet the view out the window looks _much_ better without every light in the hotel room on! (Just sayin' ✌) Maybe, if you tried turning most of the lights off and then tried catching a glimpse out the view port, you know, because space is dark lol it's just like trying to look outside your windows at home at night, you have to cup your hands around your eyes with your face against the glass to really see anything. Unless you turn the inside lights off. (Just a suggestion.)
Looking it up the couch is similar but the main length of the couch is longer for the Starcruiser and the Incredibles couch doesn't have the tables/storage on either side. It's just a kinda-sorta mid century modern love seat with a piece jutting off the end. There was a separate side table with a small foot rest you could pull out so I guess you could have used it as storage...as long as you didn't put the footrest back.
@@Nicole-Lily Apparently it does! I didn't know that room existed. Costs apparently over $12,000 for 6 in it, so I'm thinking it'd likely be near $14,000 to fill it.
Considering that a LARPing adventure of this scale has never been accomplished before, I would say Disney has done a pretty good job. However, I am looking forward to Universal taking this concept to the next level.
Mmmm I honestly dont see universal doing an "experience" like this but they are doing escape rooms which will be interesting. Universal is building the most immersive and biggest theme park in America they honestly don't need something this crappy. Once epic universe comes out this experience will be long forgotten
@@marionass593 The thing is, I don't want this experience to be forgotten--I want people to remember this as a cautionary tale and learn from the disastrous and disappointing mistakes Disney has made with the Starcruiser. I really want a world-class LARPing adventure, but not like this. A LARP escape room would scratch the itch--if everyone got in costume for two hours, had a themed meal, and then solved a series of thematic puzzles to escape, that would be a great experience.
Universal owns the original "Battlestar Galactica". Create a "Rising Star" hotel experience and I would be SO in. The original BSG was colorful and fun. This looks gray, sterile, and COLD.
@@kentslocum it'd going to be jurrassic and back to the future themed escape rooms universal gonna make it more amazing than that crud and true to each their own but I don't see universal doing that with a hotel
I'd disagree. Ita great for families, but for adults traveling together the fact that the shower door doesn't close all the way and that 1 of the pull down beds is in the bedroom instead of also in the main room makes me prefer the standard room
Thank you for the tour! Oftentimes, designers think silver and gray theme translates to a modern look. This is frankly sterile. The bathrooms don’t provide a tub which isn’t family friendly (just a weird multi-person shower?) Ohhh complimentary Dasani Water? Really? Lol. The lighting is atrocious; could’ve used a dimmer / other hues. Not to mention no pool, room service, or spa service. This is not a ‘luxury’ cruiser. These pods are better examples of future housing for the general populace working off this planet. 😑
Why did they deliberately make this unsuitable for two couples by putting the extra bed in the bedroom? Even the all stars resorts have 2 double beds and a single pull down.
They rushed through it all and never actually tested the finished product. This is Chapek's legacy: an overpriced room that was slapped together and isn't useful for families with two children.
I'm thinking Stanley Kubrick , "a clockwork orange" , not a galaxy far far away. what were they thinking, original star wars interior design/cinematography pictures are everywhere on the internet as reference ... Truth is, if they wanted to do a star wars hotel they should have stuck with the Tatooine vibe ( 1 bungalow =1 room), it would have cost them less and would actually be fun . Either that or Naboo
The window looks like a Fresnel Lens. They were used in projection TV’s to create a large image using a small projection. It’s either part of some 3d effect or it is there to cut cost on screens.
That fancy glare on the viewport is most likely tiny grooves carved into the glass/plastic to refract projection images to mimic ray convergence, also called a wave guide
Wait, the standard cabin has the big bed, two bunks and a fold out, but this one has the big bed and two fold outs? So standard fits five (ok, kids, right) and this cabin only fits four? I must have missed something.
FWIW, the bunk beds are bigger than they look. I saw a video where a very tall guy got in and he said he fit fine, but anybody 6'4" or 6'5" wouldn't. But yeah, it's weird that the suite's couch isn't a pullout bed and weirder that it doesn't also have bunk beds.
Ah, @Gideon October, I never married a super nerd, unfortunately. Hey, that might have been a better idea. And yeah, I could see this as a honeymoon thing.
I can almost see Star Trek THe NExt Generation where we get on board the Enterprise and stay for 2 to 3 days , although I liked seeing this I think 2 days isnt enough to get fully involved in Star Wars !! It needs to be a week with Activities and things to do !! And the price needs to be cheaper because for the rooms your in you really don't get a chance to even use them all that much. If it was a week long or two weeks it would be a lot more fun for kids and families and they would feel as though they got their money's worth.
@@dorothylecuyer9183 That is correct. If someone is going to spend that much for the Experience they might as well go for the suite. It looks to be more comfortable then the standard cabin.
The bedside tables look like they fold into the wall...did you try that? Seems like a huge design flaw for a Disney themed property to have the closet door hit an end table when opening.
If the voyage was for a week I think the suite is super cool but for the 44 hours on this voyage I'd be out in the main ship for everything but sleeping and maybe (maybe) a bath. LOL but it's a nice space and the living area is very cool.

Right now, the worst feedback feedback I've seen is Molly from AllEars saying it's not for everyone due to the pricetag, but even she spun it as "that's a week's stay at Disney World instead, depending on the family's needs."
This room only sleeps 4.
@@mushieslushie queen pull out in couch 2 hidden beds king master and 2 bunk beds. That's 8 people. Oops. No bunk beds so sleeps 6. That could get your cost per person down to like $1500 a piece which yeah is still pricey but much easier to swallow then $6000 for a family of 4.
@@catalyst6313 it's not a pullout couch.
@@mushieslushie crap. Thought it was. Either way, a basic room split 5 ways between friends still changes the dynamic most people complaining about the price using a family of 4 as their pricing model.
@WhenTheChipsAreDown eh. Too each their own i guess. I dont go to Disney for the room but whats outside the room for me is what really counts. Thanks for the great conversation though as you made some very good points.
This room looks WAY more fun to stay in than the standard rooms. A pity those rooms are so substandard. There are so many of them!
This is how all of them should have been
Shame that it’s SUPER EXPENSIVE!!! $6,000?! That’s a little much!
@@G.S.Productions 6k is for the standard room. The largest ones are like double the price
True but a lot of people have complained that the standard rooms are much too small for the price. Disney didn't think this through very well. And the price is ludicrous.
@@G.S.Productions you're not paying for the room. It's a 48 hour escape room, larp, mystery theater with alien buffet
The secret tunnel and plant are amazing! I would sleep in the tunnel, head in the bedroom and feets in the couch room.
the only room tour and opinion of this experience I care about, right here! Well done so far!!
A themed hotel having these rooms without the game and at a lower price point would appeal to me.
If they made it themed like this with minimalist amenities and made it a moderate or moderate resort?
Then you could transport back to earth and go to the parks
I mean with this price tag there isn’t even a pool or hot tub lol
The view ports like a projection TV screen. With like the magnifying screen. I'm usually not into spoilers, but since ill probably never see the inside or stay there, im loving all your videos of the Halcyon. Thanks!
Disney filed a bunch of payments for collimated displays in 2020. Above the window, it looks like there's a space for a projector, pointed to a bigger screen, with a lens in front. The lens means the view looks the same for any angle while giving the perception that things are far away. They use the same technology in flight simulators used for pilot training.
That’s exactly what it is... I cannot imagine they didn’t use a high definition monitor-
I’m pretty sure the hairdryer box was standing right next to the towels, under the sinks. It was quite camouflaged. Great tour. Thanks Tom.
I could not imagine crawling on a hotel room floor to go through a "secret tunnel". Just stop and think about that; crawling on a hotel room floor. That would be so nasty over time as more and more people stay there!
This should be EVERY room for that crazy price
Every ounce of criticism Disney is getting is deserved. They've made so many bad calls after obtaining the rights to Star Wars it should be a stark reminder that if you focus on what people want rather than what you think people need that that business model will serve you best. Disney had a slam dunk with the Star Wars IP and have slowly been destroying that on their own.
That secret tunnel is brilliant. That probably would have been the highlight of the whole experience for me as a kid.
Not a secret anymore..
My kids would spend the entire time crawling back and forth through that. 😄
Yikes
Its for the droids
That was my thought too lol
Those pull out beds look so small and I would easily fall off during my sleep
I think they’re intended for kids, like the bunks in the standard rooms
@@montague8878 you would think so, but disney website says its for adults
Great video.. I love the tour.. especially the Indiana Jones and the Little Bedroom Tunnel adventure. Hope your gravity generators stay active your entire voyage..
Galaxy Class... That's very.. STAR TREK!!
Personal Finance Class with Tom, debt= bad. Thanks Tom 🙂
New segment? 😊
“It’s not a big jump in price from the regular”
Ahhh the ol’ sunk cost fallacy at its finest lol
Wow, this is an upgrade and it still only sleeps 4? The teeny tiny standard rooms actually sleep more! Am I missing something?
I’ve noticed on both room tours that is sounds like there is no noise proofing. You can hear people in both loud as heck. I hope this is just some strange video thing.
The "tunnel", in-universe, would probably be storage for a MSE droid or some other cleaning droid.
Someone could probably sleep on the couch but yes they only provided bedding for 4 and probably only allow you to book 4 people in it.
what's the point of storage if you are only there 2 nights, I wouldn't even unpack my bags for that. I would pay maybe under $2000 for that stay but I still can't see anything from this hotel that warrants a $6000 price tag. For that I would just remodel my family room and make my own version. But I hope you enjoyed the stay.
EXACTLY! Does anyone actually unpack their suitcases and use hotel drawers, unless you're staying for like a WEEK or more?
Disney's biggest mistake was not making the land, rides, and hotel based off the original trilogy.
Remember, this is NOT the standard room. This room is almost $11K for ONE person for 2 days! Yikes. Not worth it.
@@largol33t1 this is not the $11k room, this one is about $1,000 more total. The other room is the GRAND CAPTAIN SUITE which sleeps 8
never knew star wars folk to be fans of bathing
I like the case that the snacks came in.
Thank you! I think the nightstand folds up into the wall to allow the closet door to open fully.
I bet the view out the window looks _much_ better without every light in the hotel room on! (Just sayin' ✌)
Maybe, if you tried turning most of the lights off and then tried catching a glimpse out the view port, you know, because space is dark lol it's just like trying to look outside your windows at home at night, you have to cup your hands around your eyes with your face against the glass to really see anything. Unless you turn the inside lights off.
(Just a suggestion.)
Furnishings for the Galactic Star Cruiser hotel brought to you by IKEA !
Thanks for sharing:... makes me feel better about not staying there ever! I would take a week at the contemporary club level theme park view instead.
UNIMAGINATIVE!
Reminds me of an episode of AMATEUR HOME MAKEOVER.
That window thing is the best part of the entire hotelship
The idea of being trapped in a room without actual sunlight is a nightmare. Just surrounded by screens and videogames. This sucks
Yeah, I feel like this should have been the standard. I also wish they had more options for larger families. AFAIK, there's no room that sleeps 7.
Dosent the captain's sleep 8?
@@Nicole-Lily Apparently it does! I didn't know that room existed. Costs apparently over $12,000 for 6 in it, so I'm thinking it'd likely be near $14,000 to fill it.
Loved the full comprehensive video
Considering that a LARPing adventure of this scale has never been accomplished before, I would say Disney has done a pretty good job. However, I am looking forward to Universal taking this concept to the next level.
Lol
I find it absolutely hilarious that anyone who wants merch bad enough can already buy it on E-Bay!
Now this room is a 100% improvement to the standard room. Is this the $20,000 suite? Cheers Tom, enjoy!
No this is the medium suite. There's a captain's suite above this.
I'd disagree. Ita great for families, but for adults traveling together the fact that the shower door doesn't close all the way and that 1 of the pull down beds is in the bedroom instead of also in the main room makes me prefer the standard room
This room is 8k for 4 people
@@asjxvii That’s not too bad considering how much bigger it is than the $6000 one (still a tonne of money though of course)
@@DisneyMarkUK unfortunately there are only 4 available out of the 100 rooms so demand is high
Exactly. This felt like IKEA's version of Star Wars...
The mouse/maybe astromech droid tunnel is a nice touch
Why did they deliberately make this unsuitable for two couples by putting the extra bed in the bedroom? Even the all stars resorts have 2 double beds and a single pull down.
Good point!
They rushed through it all and never actually tested the finished product. This is Chapek's legacy: an overpriced room that was slapped together and isn't useful for families with two children.
No swingers allowed!
This video needs to be added to the playlist.
Strange that this suite only sleeps 4. And it’s split by 3 people in one room and 1 person in the other?! Why not 2 and 2
I think this would be a great themed space room. But it just does not have a Star Wars vibe - If anything it looks more like Star Trek.
“Create your own adventure” 😂😂😂 that room is super cool.
You know what i swore i have seen hotel like this at Akibahara in late 2000s.
As much as I adore Star Wars, its a no for me. Thanks for the tour!
Great reporting! Appreciate your honest advice on the cost and financial responsiblity, How much is the price for this cabin? Please.
I think that is the 10K cabin
@@TheKarnophage 10k !!!!!!??!?!?! 😮
@@TheKarnophage Yikes!!!!
@@TheKarnophage I found out it's a bit over a 1000 more than the standard cabin room.
@@dorothylecuyer9183 That is correct. If someone is going to spend that much for the Experience they might as well go for the suite. It looks to be more comfortable then the standard cabin.
OMG! I can't believe people are dropping $6k for this. It's true what P.T. Barnum said.
Why does the interior reminds me of a hospital?
the "window" has too much glare from all the lights... should have turned them out, can't see anything on video
Create your own adventure! Perfect way to say it without saying it. I'm very impressed 👍
I think that little tunnel is for storing your suitcases and you can get access to them on either side???
Yeah, I think it has some functional purpose. Not a tunnel for fun. 😆
Love these tours. Closest I'll ever get!
Automatic doors would be cool and the emergency room look like escape pod interior would also be sweer touch.
The bedside tables look like they fold into the wall...did you try that? Seems like a huge design flaw for a Disney themed property to have the closet door hit an end table when opening.
Did you ever release the video showing the tv? I’m curious if it has movies or cable.
Does anyone know of a review where they turn the lights off completely so that the space window can be shown without that glare?
If the voyage was for a week I think the suite is super cool but for the 44 hours on this voyage I'd be out in the main ship for everything but sleeping and maybe (maybe) a bath. LOL but it's a nice space and the living area is very cool.
We noticed that in all three room tours….no coffee maker. Is there one available?
Did you ever find the price for this one Tom?
Galaxy Class? Like the Enterprise?
They have Dasani? Ugh, pack your own water...
No hair dryer and the shower door doesn't close all the way? Yeah, contact housekeeping about those issues.
Seeing the secret tunnel made me think I'd be much more inclined to do this if it was an Avatar the Last Airbender hotel.
Great camera quality
I'm starting to save my money for this. I want it all !
You’d be better off just using one of the other less expensive hotels in the park.
Does the star toilet actually vaporize poop or compress it into lithium diode crystals and launch them into galactical orbit?
