Another RUclipsr recently had a tour of this mine, the miner giving the tour had so much knowledge of this still-operating mine, it gave me fresh insight into how these mines work and how modern tech helps today. Great mine!
This was such a great video to watch! Thanks for the historical footage and I really hope more people can appreciate this hard working path few have taken!
"Still producing some *FINE* gold." LOL! No one tells a story quite like Huell Howser. This whole video was an absolute gem. It was so very interesting! And Huell Howser was such a great interviewer.
it's funny years later he (miller) was convicted of dumping a huge amount of toxic waste into a pit close to the creek and when ousted from the mine stole all the equipment and gold (owned by the shareholders). now he's out, but still owes year's worth of fines and taxes and no dividends payed out.after being hostilely taken over by new company who actually bought out shareholders stock valued at less than 30 cents for $1 each
Nice to hear from you Aaron. I moved out of California 5 years ago and have not heard much about the mine. I did read about the toxic waste incident, but didn’t know what else had happened.
The video cut out just before it said what the "largest gold nugget" weighed? I'm assuming it means largest "in California" since "the largest" is "Welcome Stranger" at 193 troy pounds, found in Bakery Hill, Ballarat, Australia in 1859. And the "Canaã Nugget" was 162.9 troy pounds, found at Para, Brazil in 1983. I read that the biggest nugget from California is the "Ironstone's Crown Jewel", 44 troy pounds, found in Jamestown, California in 1992. Though I'm not sure why that is considered the largest since a 65 troy pound nugget was found at Whiskey Flat near Paradise, California in 1859.

Yes, TVR Exploring went on a tour of the 16to1 Mine.

Thank you!
I toured this same mine with Mike this last Saturday 11-16-19... spent 3 hours underground... greatest and most unique experience ever.
You are correct! That mine is very unique and extensive!
I got claustrophobic just watching this video. I’ll stay up above ground. Thank you.
@@stevenheal2950 To each his own. Some people on tours do get claustrophobic and have to be escorted out.
This is absolutely awesome!! Thank you so much for sharing this ❤ 💗
thanks for sharing the footage bud! Don't forget to keep us posted on your newest adventure when you get where you're going!
My newest adventure is waiting for a new mine to open in 2020, meanwhile, I'm turning a wrench servicing heavy equipment. Thanks for watching!

@@muleskinnermining8661 it's a total shit show still....miller got out of the epa stuff with just a fine
@@aaronkeeth651 He managed to dodge the criminal charges? Damn! Is the new company that took over doing anything with the mine currently?

awesome video
That was great
he has "big plans "for the mine alright..... run away with the loot after running the mine into the red. Huell sure was a class act
That is a very valid comment. Ran the mine into the red and ran it into the ground.

Whats the story with the president Michael miller?
cody popke, long story about that Man. Couldn’t get into it on this format.

Criminal charges! Is there anything new about those charges? He should spend some time behind bars. Is the mine still shutdown due to COVID-19?
