I wouldn’t say must buy but it definitely gives you the most with that combination. I think its value will come more with time as I can see games slowly becoming worse and worse performance-wise on the base PS5 over the next few years.

I never got the PS5 or PS5 Slim and I've been saving up money on the side and sticking with PS4. So the PS5 Pro will be my choice, I intend to stick with it for a while so I might even get a 4TB SSD.

You will be making a mistake. Its got the same CPU so the same bottleneck. And no GTA6 will not run better on it. Go look at Loading times videos and the Matrix Awaken video comparing FPS... both at 30 FPS. Because it is bottlenecked by a 5 year old CPU. Save your money and get a cheap base PS5 on black friday my dude... thank me later.

GTA 6 will most probably still run at 30fps on the Pro. However the game will almost certainly look better than the base PS5. It's got a much stronger GPU and better ray tracing.

The bottleneck is made sure by Sony's scam which at the point of GTA6 release... the "pro" console will have a more than 6 years old CPU. Hence it Loading the same and having the same FPS as the base model. For RT to be stable at higher framerates, you need the CPU to keep up. Sony opted to bottleneck the CPU so by the time PS6 comes every single PS5 "pro" user has to upgrade. So they can avoid the situation with the PS4 Pro...where people held on to it. Rightly. The biggest issue i have with the system is the price to how much time is left before the ps6 arrives. That's $700 for a 4 year only commitment if you plan on getting ps6 at launch.
I feel like you need to be the launch day console person or the mid grade console person. I just got the PS5 Pro two days ago. If you already have the PS5, stay where you’re at. Honestly. I got a pro and have base ps5 and a high end pc, so saying pro is just for new players is a poor statement And enjoying games like tlou1 and 2 in 90+ fps, same with resident evil village and re4, stellar blade got 80fps so for me it’s a worthwhile upgrade But not everyone can afford one or care about framerates so i get that a console that runs games better is not as valuable for everyone

Nah most people get a discount on their phone from a cellular provider then finance it over 24 months. The cost of the phone is then subsidized from the monthly plan.
PC is different mate, like a PC can do WAY more than just play games. And kinda the same with the phone. Like you can’t make phone calls or SMS on a PS5.

I’m still happy with playing with my PS4. I bought the destiny themed special edition PlayStation 4 for $179 and I’m gonna tell you right now. It is the best thing of my life and the best choice of my life that I have ever done. I can’t believe I’m having so much fun with one console And I used to be on a PlayStation a lot more and I was an Xbox user before I’m still on Xbox easier I play both consoles but honestly PlayStation to show me a little bit more gratitude a little bit more fun things and a lot of cool exclusive games so yeah PlayStation 4 is worth to have
I kinda want a ps5 pro but i got a decent gaming pc instead and its hard to look back since im gaming everything at 120-144fps now and 60fps or games that are barley hitting that are just a no go. Plus i use a controller on pc in the living room so it feels exactly like a console just better
To me, it was worth buying the Playstation 5 Pro even though I already have the Playstation 5 Slim Disc Version. I am a graphics type of guy and largely prefer 4K graphics over 60fps performance. However, that doesn't mean I dont still hate having to compromise. Being able to have a Performance Pro mode that uses PSSR to give me 4K at 60fps is exactly what I've been yearning for. I do wish on games like The Last Of Us 2, that every game just had one pro mode to choose instead of still making me pick between fidelity pro and performance pro. Like I said, I'm a graphics and visual guy, so those fidelity pro modes are still tempting, but they mostly just boost ray tracing ability rather than resolution while still playing at 30fps. I can live without ray tracing as long as I have my 4K at 60fps. Plus, most performance pro modes still feature basic ray tracing anyway. I also really love the look of the Playstation 5 Pro. It's very aesthetically pleasing and super reminiscent of the Playstation 5 Slim, and since I had a Playstation 5 Slim to begin with, now having them side by side look absolutely amazing in my setup.
With the Pro version costing $1300NZ and add the cost of a disk drive bringing the cost to close to $1500 NZ yeah nah think I'll stick to my original ps5.

I preordered mine and am happy but the answer is no. I sold my OG PS5 for $300 to cut on the Pro loses. I play on a 77” OLED, usually on my 4090/7950X PX. If that’s you…you already got yours. If that’s not you…yeah, save the cash. Not worth it.

I think pro would be the way to go for my first PlayStation, for future proofing, and the fact that games running at 30 per second really bother me so I think this would reduce the chances of that happening. Only problem is, I doubt I would be able to get elder scrolls or other Bethesda games on this system. 😭😭 That storage upgrade option sounds amazing for me!
Besides the price and besides it not coming with a disc drive, I feel like this console was a waste of energy and effort from Sony. Sony has been doing a lot of questionable things for its fan beats this whole generation and it definitely looks like something from a company who doesn’t feel threatened at the top. Sony wants people to buy this pro and replay games they have already beat. Their newest game Astro bought takes no advantage of this console, the live service game they have GT7 patch is not ready, I don’t think Concord was going to benefit from this console either. So it’s kind of odd for them to put this counsel out with no games no games in the near future a.k.a. five months that’s going to benefit from this console. It just doesn’t really make a lot of sense to offer this to its customers with no huge benefit. PS4 Pro made sense but a lot of people didn’t upgrade to 4K TVs but enough did and the market for those TVs were dropping so drastically that it makes sense also, I think they got sense. Xbox was doing something so they decided to whip up something. I think Sony might have jumped the gun a bit and thought Xbox was going to have a mid gen console again and they wanted to match, but Xbox doesn’t need it. I also feel like outside of F1. These companies could have optimize their games a lot better to have better performance. This generation hasn’t touched the power of either of the current consoles. Overall, the system doesn’t make any sense and I really wish I was in Sony headquarters getting the real reason why this was made.
What I think is really interesting about most of the reviews I’ve watched is that they seem to forget one extremely important detail you need to consider before you even entertain the idea of buying the PS5 Pro; Do you have a minimum 65” 4K, OLED, 120hz TV with VRR and HDR capabilities? This TV will cost anywhere from $1000 to $1500. If you don’t have one, you’re not even going to utilize any of the Pro features properly.
If you already have a PS5, you can sell it then upgrade. I sold my PS5 for $340 and then the cost to upgrade was $360, which was worth it in my opinion.
Sony announced the regular PS5 slim for this Holidays at a $70 discount, so the PS5 Pro is basically twice the investment as a PS5 regular. Now does it offer twice the performance and graphics over the regular PS5? That's something to consider when choosing in my opinion. Also if you are already invested in the original PS5 disc version, there is no reason to spend almost $800 for a system that does not offer returns of said investment. It is too expensive for too little of an upgrade.

And not true RDNA 3? I have 42 LG C3. I love thst AMD Freessyn Premium on Xbox. I also have an original ps5 with disc. Xbox has Dolby vision but does it matter if ps5 pro has PSSR and 16.7 teraflops. I heard it’s really like 23 or 33. But it technically is 16.7. Is it worth it? I use my Xbox more because of forza and all the pro controllers. Steal ultra. V3 Wolverine. Victrix. Anyways. Crkd+ plus is great. Love it. The vibration isn’t hd. But it isn’t bad. But I heard mobapad m6 hd is way to go. Ronin grip is cool and I have eclipse kontrolfreek for my pastel green and purple joy cons. But the Hall effect sticks on the cracked r amazing. And the sidekick buttons r pretty awesome. I use y still cuz it’s easy but hitting a x b can be out of the way controllling, anyways. Love u mam!
Of course, it's NOT enough, players are waiting PS6, true 4K 60fps/120fps machine as PS5 advertised. BUT, PS5 Pro is amazed me, how clear the image can be on LED TV other than owning an OLED TV, it sharpens the graphic and keeps same fps or more enhanced fps, it totally fit its marketed goal.
A lot of these PS5 Pro enhanced games are available on PC. Including the 1st party games. So it would be a better investment to get a mid - high range PC. You're getting more capabilities than the Pro with the opportunity to upgrade with future graphics cards and CPUs. With PS5 Pro you are completely depending on developers making a patch at a set specification.
What I really need to know that I can't find anywhere is: - What wireless keyboards work with this via bluetooth without a receiver - What keyboards have USB-C receivers - IS there a USB-C to USB-C cable that fits the previous dualsense edge cable housing perfectly (it needs to be rectangular) & sony doesn't seem to be offering an updated cable direct. Honestly the loss of the front USB-A port has been the biggest pain in the arse for me with the Pro, because I need the two rear ports for my Shure mic & DAC/AMP, so the front port was always for my charging cable, or keyboard & my current keyboard doesnt work with PS5s bullshit restrictive bluetooth
The Pro seems pretty cool in some respects but man, $700 is just kind of nuts. And I’m definitely one of those people that love having physical copies of games, so an additional $80 for the disc drive plus taxes and all that… yeesh. I’ll stick with my launch PS5 lol.
$1100 CAD for a aoftware upscaler. The hardware itself is NOT 45% increase in raw performance, thats just creative marketing, selling the idea that the upscaler creates the perception of that visual increase. The actual increase in raw performance is closer to 15-20%. Its just a new upscaller and sharpening. Probably the equivalent of an RTX 3070.
then most gpus such as the 3070 are upscalers and sharpening if you put it that way as nvidia are going the same route, we are getting to the point were the graphical differences will be minimal, dont expect the ps6 to look like a generational leap like ps2 to ps3. this machine is not for everyone

I've had the ps5 slim since launch, I've played a handful of graphically gorgeous games....R.E.4, Deadspace remake, stellar blade etc. Honestly I've had the most fun playing prince of persia the lost crown so much so that it has got me hooked and pushing me to play other metroidvania games like hollow knight. I'm burnt out on these games that take the fun out of games and are just interactive animated movies. Sand box games have seemed wash and repeat for the last 15 years as well, with the exception of the yakuza series and a few others.
I really like pre-am I PS5? Is treating me good but unfortunately Jamie Curtis is no longer 35 years younger in exercise outfit looking good so I think we have to make choices in life. Do you wish for the rest of your life at Jamie Curtis? still look good or do you spend an extra couple of hundred quid on an awesome console? What if: You havent purchased the PS5 at all the past 4 years and havent played the vast majority of the PS5/PS4 games that came out, would it be worth then to pay the extra $200 and get the Pro over the base (Slim) 🤔 I'm guessing the PS6 is going to come out around 2027/2028, so there is also the case of future proofing for the next coming years ... its a bit vague atm to be hounest, if it is worth it or not to plunge $700 (or more) on the Pro 🤔
If you never had a ps5, absolutely buy the pro. If you have a 5 already (you said you dont, but for others reading this..) don't waste the money, minimal upgrades for another $700. But your case specifically, when I bought the 5 on launch day, it was a MASSIVE difference in quality, speed, loading times etc. from a 4 to a 5. So for you, yeah buy the pro. But for existing owners like me, it's not worth upgrading.

I kinda want a ps5 pro but i got a decent gaming pc instead and its hard to look back since im gaming everything at 120-144fps now and 60fps or games that are barley hitting that are just a no go. Plus i use a controller on pc in the living room so it feels exactly like a console just better

To me, it was worth buying the Playstation 5 Pro even though I already have the Playstation 5 Slim Disc Version. I am a graphics type of guy and largely prefer 4K graphics over 60fps performance. However, that doesn't mean I dont still hate having to compromise. Being able to have a Performance Pro mode that uses PSSR to give me 4K at 60fps is exactly what I've been yearning for. I do wish on games like The Last Of Us 2, that every game just had one pro mode to choose instead of still making me pick between fidelity pro and performance pro. Like I said, I'm a graphics and visual guy, so those fidelity pro modes are still tempting, but they mostly just boost ray tracing ability rather than resolution while still playing at 30fps. I can live without ray tracing as long as I have my 4K at 60fps. Plus, most performance pro modes still feature basic ray tracing anyway. I also really love the look of the Playstation 5 Pro. It's very aesthetically pleasing and super reminiscent of the Playstation 5 Slim, and since I had a Playstation 5 Slim to begin with, now having them side by side look absolutely amazing in my setup.

With the Pro version costing $1300NZ and add the cost of a disk drive bringing the cost to close to $1500 NZ yeah nah think I'll stick to my original ps5.

Is the ps5 slim worth upgrading over the original ps5 ?
I preordered mine and am happy but the answer is no. I sold my OG PS5 for $300 to cut on the Pro loses. I play on a 77” OLED, usually on my 4090/7950X PX. If that’s you…you already got yours. If that’s not you…yeah, save the cash. Not worth it.
You can add your OWN??? Seriously I might need to pick one of these up! For my first console in a while. Unless Nintendo does something cool, which I can’t see that happening. I think pro would be the way to go for my first PlayStation, for future proofing, and the fact that games running at 30 per second really bother me so I think this would reduce the chances of that happening.
Only problem is, I doubt I would be able to get elder scrolls or other Bethesda games on this system. 😭😭

Besides the price and besides it not coming with a disc drive, I feel like this console was a waste of energy and effort from Sony. Sony has been doing a lot of questionable things for its fan beats this whole generation and it definitely looks like something from a company who doesn’t feel threatened at the top.
Sony wants people to buy this pro and replay games they have already beat. Their newest game Astro bought takes no advantage of this console, the live service game they have GT7 patch is not ready, I don’t think Concord was going to benefit from this console either. So it’s kind of odd for them to put this counsel out with no games no games in the near future a.k.a. five months that’s going to benefit from this console. It just doesn’t really make a lot of sense to offer this to its customers with no huge benefit. PS4 Pro made sense but a lot of people didn’t upgrade to 4K TVs but enough did and the market for those TVs were dropping so drastically that it makes sense also, I think they got sense. Xbox was doing something so they decided to whip up something. I think Sony might have jumped the gun a bit and thought Xbox was going to have a mid gen console again and they wanted to match, but Xbox doesn’t need it.
I also feel like outside of F1. These companies could have optimize their games a lot better to have better performance. This generation hasn’t touched the power of either of the current consoles. Overall, the system doesn’t make any sense and I really wish I was in Sony headquarters getting the real reason why this was made.
What I think is really interesting about most of the reviews I’ve watched is that they seem to forget one extremely important detail you need to consider before you even entertain the idea of buying the PS5 Pro;
Do you have a minimum 65” 4K, OLED, 120hz TV with VRR and HDR capabilities? This TV will cost anywhere from $1000 to $1500.
If you don’t have one, you’re not even going to utilize any of the Pro features properly.

If you already have a PS5, you can sell it then upgrade. I sold my PS5 for $340 and then the cost to upgrade was $360, which was worth it in my opinion.

Sony announced the regular PS5 slim for this Holidays at a $70 discount, so the PS5 Pro is basically twice the investment as a PS5 regular. Now does it offer twice the performance and graphics over the regular PS5? That's something to consider when choosing in my opinion. Also if you are already invested in the original PS5 disc version, there is no reason to spend almost $800 for a system that does not offer returns of said investment. It is too expensive for too little of an upgrade.

And not true RDNA 3? I have 42 LG C3. I love thst AMD Freessyn Premium on Xbox. I also have an original ps5 with disc. Xbox has Dolby vision but does it matter if ps5 pro has PSSR and 16.7 teraflops. I heard it’s really like 23 or 33. But it technically is 16.7. Is it worth it? I use my Xbox more because of forza and all the pro controllers. Steal ultra. V3 Wolverine. Victrix. Anyways. Crkd+ plus is great. Love it. The vibration isn’t hd. But it isn’t bad. But I heard mobapad m6 hd is way to go. Ronin grip is cool and I have eclipse kontrolfreek for my pastel green and purple joy cons. But the Hall effect sticks on the cracked r amazing. And the sidekick buttons r pretty awesome. I use y still cuz it’s easy but hitting a x b can be out of the way controllling, anyways. Love u mam!
Of course, it's NOT enough, players are waiting PS6, true 4K 60fps/120fps machine as PS5 advertised. BUT, PS5 Pro is amazed me, how clear the image can be on LED TV other than owning an OLED TV, it sharpens the graphic and keeps same fps or more enhanced fps, it totally fit its marketed goal.
A lot of these PS5 Pro enhanced games are available on PC. Including the 1st party games. So it would be a better investment to get a mid - high range PC. You're getting more capabilities than the Pro with the opportunity to upgrade with future graphics cards and CPUs. With PS5 Pro you are completely depending on developers making a patch at a set specification.
I have been really happy with the purchase but you said it pretty good its not for everyone and I dont think it was meant to be

What I really need to know that I can't find anywhere is:
- What wireless keyboards work with this via bluetooth without a receiver
- What keyboards have USB-C receivers
- IS there a USB-C to USB-C cable that fits the previous dualsense edge cable housing perfectly (it needs to be rectangular) & sony doesn't seem to be offering an updated cable direct.
Honestly the loss of the front USB-A port has been the biggest pain in the arse for me with the Pro, because I need the two rear ports for my Shure mic & DAC/AMP, so the front port was always for my charging cable, or keyboard
& my current keyboard doesnt work with PS5s bullshit restrictive bluetooth

The Pro seems pretty cool in some respects but man, $700 is just kind of nuts. And I’m definitely one of those people that love having physical copies of games, so an additional $80 for the disc drive plus taxes and all that… yeesh. I’ll stick with my launch PS5 lol.

$1100 CAD for a aoftware upscaler. The hardware itself is NOT 45% increase in raw performance, thats just creative marketing, selling the idea that the upscaler creates the perception of that visual increase.
The actual increase in raw performance is closer to 15-20%. Its just a new upscaller and sharpening. Probably the equivalent of an RTX 3070.
then most gpus such as the 3070 are upscalers and sharpening if you put it that way as nvidia are going the same route, we are getting to the point were the graphical differences will be minimal, dont expect the ps6 to look like a generational leap like ps2 to ps3. this machine is not for everyone

I've had the ps5 slim since launch, I've played a handful of graphically gorgeous games....R.E.4, Deadspace remake, stellar blade etc. Honestly I've had the most fun playing prince of persia the lost crown so much so that it has got me hooked and pushing me to play other metroidvania games like hollow knight. I'm burnt out on these games that take the fun out of games and are just interactive animated movies. Sand box games have seemed wash and repeat for the last 15 years as well, with the exception of the yakuza series and a few others.
Is worth it to me. I notice a difference in the games i play.
I really like pre-am I PS5? Is treating me good but unfortunately Jamie Curtis is no longer 35 years younger in exercise outfit looking good so I think we have to make choices in life. Do you wish for the rest of your life at Jamie Curtis? still look good or do you spend an extra couple of hundred quid on an awesome console? They can fill in the gaps PS5 pro all the way I think it’s absolute Grey and something people aren’t mentioning is just the fluidity of its own menu system is just working better. This quicker you go to the store it’s quicker might be a minor thing but anything that makes that heap quicker is good for me. It’s good stuff I like it. What if: You havent purchased the PS5 at all the past 4 years and havent played the vast majority of the PS5/PS4 games that came out, would it be worth then to pay the extra $200 and get the Pro over the base (Slim) 🤔
I'm guessing the PS6 is going to come out around 2027/2028, so there is also the case of future proofing for the next coming years ... its a bit vague atm to be hounest, if it is worth it or not to plunge $700 (or more) on the Pro 🤔
If you never had a ps5, absolutely buy the pro. If you have a 5 already (you said you dont, but for others reading this..) don't waste the money, minimal upgrades for another $700. But your case specifically, when I bought the 5 on launch day, it was a MASSIVE difference in quality, speed, loading times etc. from a 4 to a 5. So for you, yeah buy the pro. But for existing owners like me, it's not worth upgrading.
What makes it pro exactly? Its just a word to suck people in to buy it just like the iPhone pro max if want the best features you must pay more money to get it.
