Really nice video. Some additional points:
- You don't *have* to transition overnight. Do it at whatever pace works for you.
- Read the labels in the supermarket. So many processed foods have hidden dairy in places you'd never expect.
- Don't beat yourself up if you accidentally eat the wrong thing. Mistakes happen.
Really good advice!!!
Love these points! You are so right. Thanks for sharing!
Couldn't agree more
Should I just look at what it "CONTAINS:" or could you tell some of the hidden dairy names?
@@afisanaa thanks
For my birthday my non vegan flatmates went all out and made a vegan spread for me, from the veggie burgers to the vegan cupcake AND the side of chips and guac. They loved eating it, too! It's not boring and if people hate on you, ignore it. They don't know what they're MISSING!
That's so sweet!! Maybe they'll become vegan one day too.
i like the distinction in the beginning between the vegan diet and the vegan lifestyle. not everyone who follows a vegan diet lives a vegan lifestyle (especially depending on why you went vegan to begin with). don’t overwhelm yourself if you’re just starting out (:
I try to eat a vegan diet 90% of the time. But I don’t live a vegan lifestyle. I transitioned due to my health, and my severe migraines. But I don’t use non-animal products. I respect the reasons why people are vegan, like they love the planet and animals and stuff. I personally don’t care.
That's totally right! Everyone is on their own journey.
I call myself a part time vegan/plant based eater. I try! lol Looking to be full time in the future😊 appreciate your videos ❤
Same here. 😊 💜
@@juneberry1982 😊Thats whats up!!
At least your trying 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
@@lovedev9308 Yeah girl baby steps lol
Good luck girl!
This is a great guide.
Also I’m eating 100% healthier compared to when I ate meat because I actually think about the food I consume
🙏🏻💯
@@Melingue That’s not entirely true (there are many vegan or close to it indigenous cultures around the world) but let’s pretend it is; it’s still a poor argument.
The current state of animal agriculture is unlike anything that ever existed before this past 100 years and it’s far past the point of necessity for survival. My ancestor may have had to kill a wild animal to survive. I get to walk into a market and buy rice, lentils, and broccoli.
My decision is much easier to make in the present day western nation. Also, I have what we call a moral obligation to make it because I understand that animal products are the direct result of unnecessary suffering.
Thank you! Yes, I had the same experience. It can really happen when you prioritize wholesome plantbased food.
If you’re like me and low/no sodium as well as vegan you need to eat seaweed or take a supplement to get iodine. Dried seaweed (nori) make a great snack and are available in Asian groceries
Good tip! I use iodized salt, and I love seaweed. Thanks for sharing!
I am SO glad that you brought up using iodine along with other necessities like vitamins. I am almost 5 years vegan now, but when I first started out in 2016 when I was 17, every vegan RUclipsr that I followed would always rave about Himalayan salt and diss all the rest. So.. I tried cutting out iodine salt completely for a year or more and ended up with a thyroid issue 🙃 I now use iodine every day
Yeah, I love Himalayan salt but we can't forget the iodine! So crucial. Thanks for sharing!
I use garlic salt for my cooking.
This is awesome!! My hubby and I are doing a 30 plant based challenge. I have chronic migraine and fibromyalgia so hoping this will help w inflammation. This is day FOUR!!🙌🏼♥️
We are loving the Buddha bowls and salads for lunch BUT dinner is a challenge since I have 3 teens who loves meat 🤦🏻♀️🤞
Maybe you can share an update on your health status when the 30 days are up?
@@axantedrijvers4444 YASSS! I can definitely do that! So far I’ve seen just a few changes .... I’ve had to use a laxative of some kind since I was a kid ( sorry TMI ) that’s already a million
Times better. And I don’t feel as sluggish if that makes sense... I told my hubby yesterday I feel happier .... weird I know 🤷🏻♀️ I’ll hop back on the thread a 30 day mark and let you know how things went 😊
Awesome! I really hope it helps with the inflammation. I have a video all about anti-inflammatory foods too, so check that out. Have you tried the vegan meats for your kids?
I don't know if you will ever read this, but I just discovered your channel and I am binge watching all of your videos and I want to thank you for your work here on RUclips and on your blog!
First of all, I love how you are so positive, clear and glowing inside out, you make it really easy and fun to listen to you, and your editing is sooo nice to watch, the music, the images, all just comes together so good. And of course last but definitely not least I looove how you approach veganism, I love the recipes that you share, how it's fresh, healthy, delicious, noutrishous, and also possible on a low budget.
You inspire me to take my vegan cooking to a whole other level, not only health and tastewise, also on a organizing side (prepping, budget...)i, and you make it easy and fun and that's so great. Thank you!
I just turned completely vegan in 2023. I’m doing it for the animals and Mother Earth. Weight loss is a really nice perk to eating vegan and limiting ultra processed foods.
The first vegan meal i learned to master was tacos. They're my favourite food of all time. So using many vegan fillings became an adventure and I still experiment to this day!
Can you share the recipe? :)
Mmmmm, can't go wrong with tacos!
Hi there,
I found your channel after deciding to go vegan after watching the “What the Health” documentary on Netflix about a month ago. Your videos, advice, and recipes have helped in my transition so much. Wish I would’ve gone vegan sooner! Thanks so much for all the work you put into your channel! Stay healthy :)
Wonderful! I'm glad you found that doc and my channel. I think for many of us, our main regret is not going vegan sooner.
Just remember your B12 vitamins! 🥦
That's right!
I’ve been vegan for 7 years and my doctor keeps telling me my B12 is super high lol
@@miriamschiro8585 yea, every body saves super much B12. (For like 5-7 years if you ate years and years meat)
When I first saw the title of this video, I thought you meant you had a new trick for how to literally turn into a vegan in just ten minutes. I was thinking what sort of sorcery did you just discover? Hahaha.
What really worked for me was going at my own pace and not setting a deadline to go vegan. I knew if I tried to do it overnight or within a set period of time that I would be setting myself up for failure. It was about eight months or so of binge watching vegan RUclips cooking videos and slowly making changes to my diet that I was finally comfortable going fully vegan. It also helped that as time wore on just seeing animal products repulsed me (except regular NY style cheese pizza. I still miss that one, but the desire isn't so great that I'd ever cave in and order one). So glad I made the switch!
I gradually went vegan (not just the diet aspects of veganism) i was on a standard diet so the first thing that went was the meat, poultry, fish then the dairy and eggs and other animal byproducts then the animal non food products.
Haha, I'm still working on my sorcery. Will share when I've mastered it!
NYC pizza was the last thing I gave up!
I’m a new subscriber and made it a month in so far, and my tip is reach into other cultures of food, it keeps things fresh and exciting! There’s literally a WORLD 🌍 of food to learn
I originally became vegetarian about forty-five years ago because I hated cooking meat and it was so expensive. I became totally vegan because of a serious dairy allergy. I can honestly say vegan foods are absolutely delicious when prepared with the same love and skill as non-vegan.
Just ordered my Ritual multivitamins
I'm so glad I found your channel. Your recipes are going to get me through Lent this year. Thank You!
Everything you make looks absolutely delicious. Edited to Add: The World's Healthiest Foods is in book form too. I own it.
P.S. you're one of my favorite vegan RUclipsrs.
I do too
I need to get that book!
Thanks so much :)
I've gained the confidence to become vegan thanks to your lovely videos!😍I'm really new to veganism but I've been a vegetarian for a long time which I hope will make the transition a bit easier for me! 💕💕💕 Love you and thank you!
I want to go vegan one day, it's my goal! right now im in the stage of trying out recipes and learning about nutrition so I don't fall into the habit of taking the easy way out and relying on processed, store-bought, premade meals. I dont think my completely vegan food plan will happen soon though, because I live with 5 people and I literally have one cabinet and one shelf in the fridge to store my food, and we all know veggies are bulky and hard to store... But I will get there eventually!
Sounds like you're making some really good moves-- starting right where you are! The more you think, plan, execute and enjoy your journey veganism will grow in your heart. Lock it in and you will be utterly amazed at how smooth, effortless and 'organic' your transition will be. You might even influence the other 4 to join you! Keep up the good work, to your good health. ☺🍴💕
gosh, you spoke fast! love the video, super helpful and encouraging in my journey... second week of transition looking good! :)
Loved thid video !! Especially the 80:20 guide and the meal plan/prep tip ! Sending much love xx
Long time subscriber here just wanted to say I LOVE YA sis...ohh yeah and the cookbook! I got it on ebook BUT I think I’d rather have it in hard copy. Y’all if you don’t have that book it’s awesome and it has instant pot goodies in it too🌸
Thanks for sharing the added resources. I'll check them out.
So true! Just one comment on vitamin B12. A lot of meat eaters are deficient on B12 because of soil depletion.
Kelp is also a great source of iodine!
Thanks for the great advice! I am looking forward to this lifestyle in becoming a Vegan Eater!❤
I find it hard to eat out here because I am already gluten free (celiac) so finding both at restaurants can be challenging. I’m in rural southeast Texas but even Houston doesn’t have a ton of options for both. So far I have not fully changed to plant based but I definitely don’t eat poultry or fish daily. I’m on week 4 of no dairy or eggs.
Ever tried calling ahead to the kitchen or bringing your own?
Terrific advice! I really like your videos and info provided.
I have been a whole plant base/vegan lifestyle for about a year. Lately, I am experiencing low blood sugar. Though my doctor wants me to eat meat I feel way better without it. She says I need more protein and fats. I am kind of struggling for a good balance here.
Take your time may be the most important tip. Take your time to switch your diet to get used progressively psychologicaly and your digestive system.
There is no shame reduce animal products bit by bit. We don't want people to lost the opportunity to being vegan by rushing it.
Great job Jenne and you are looking good!!! Have a great weekend. :)
Sis you are absolutely glowing!!!! 💚💚💚

Right! She is glowing!
Thank you!
Thank you so much! Love your necklace!
Hi! I went vegan overnight 1,5 weeks ago but I was wondering, what did you do with all your clothes and cosmetics that are not vegan? How do you go about it all?
Great video! Thank you for sharing these tips! 💗
Thank you for your lovely tips, Jenne! 💗 I stick to the 80/20 rule a lot, but do you portion your meals at all or do you just eat based on how you feel and only if you are hungry? I have heard it is not healthy to only eat when you are hungry and that you are supposed to eat throughout the day, but I have issues with portion control and wasn't sure how that would apply to the vegan lifestyle, especially if I would be eating super clean...
One phrase that scares me when someone is serving me food they made is "I just went vegan" 😅 I'm so excited that they are switching, but I have had so many experiences where they made the same dish they always made but just took out the animal products. Yikes, so bland! Experienced vegan cooks make delicious, wholesome food, but you gotta know your spices and what plants need to take the spotlight. Don't worry, you'll get the hang of it.
I struggle with planning.. not the actual planning.. the fact that I might change my mind 5 times about what sounds good for dinner after something is already prepped out. lol
100% for my health ❤
Very helpful video, as well as the sites. I really enjoyed it.
Love this channel... Now it might use less faux vegan foods and oil. Blessings!
Definitely needed 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽😊 refreshing and healthy
That’s some great advice!
There’s no excuse to eat animals anymore. The food is so damn good! 😀
Agreed!
I wonder if I would like to prepare the day before what vegan pots hold up good for a party? I was thinking fried cauliflower chicken not sure if it would work
You look so lovely🌻. What a great video!
Thank you

So so pretty. And I love your choice of music

32 days vegan today!
Congrats, I’m 1 day vegan lol :)
I really like your videos and I do like and I’m subscribed but as some feedback I find it a bit cheesy when you say it multiple times in your video!
I really want to be vegan but I am concerned that most of the evidence to support the diet is based on a fraction of vegans that belong to the Adventists. If the diet really is sustainable I feel like there would be more societies in the world that are fully vegan. Anyone know of any society besides the Adventists that are fully vegan and lived through multiple generations? Any info would be helpful, thanks.
Can you be my coach?
You are so sweet 💗
I have never been able to go 100 percent vegan, I'm only in it for the moral reasons, I don't care about the environmental arguments or the health stuff much. I just don't want animals hurt. Makes me fat and weak but I agree it is the moral diet.
I won't go vegan entirely, but for health reasons and because meat is just a lil too extra for me....I am going more plant based ❤️ i already do meatless cooking whenever I cook for myself. I plan to own bees, livestock, and a farm/orchard. My own little circle of life. I take some honey and wax from the bees (they abandon their hive if they make too much honey), and provide them with yummy pollen from crop flowers and they help to pollinate my crops ❤️ my livestock can eat my plants and fertilize the ground, and if the moms have any extra milk they would like to provide then I can pasteurized it and make creams and butters ^-^ and I will only slaughter if absolutely necessary. I feel like this is so much better to have these options because my food will be fresh and because I will grow too attached to the animals to kill them xD ❤️ I feel like the only reason why there is a large meat industry is because people want too much meat and they're not willing to do the work. One cow butchered will last a family a long time. Like a really long time. If you freeze it and eat the correct meat portions then you won't have to contribute to the business of treating animals like crap just for a slice of bacon or a burger. But nevertheless I love your channel and I think it's wonderful that you are so dedicated to teaching people all about veganism ❤️ to each his/her own! :)
yes I used to think like you...but you are still killing an animal just like you who does not want to die
@@Scor-ah I respect the circle. :) It's nature, if I do not kill it, trust me, another animal will. If we just respected the circle and stopped over producing, we wouldn't be in such a mess. I'd rather kill a free animal than eat meat from an animal that never had a chance.
Honey is the bees’ food.
@@rainnmoon114 , excellent point! Animals eat other animals. We could eat less, though. Plenty of cultures make it the side (1/4-1/3) instead of the main item.
@@jillom397 It is their food, but when they make too much, which they have a tendency to do, they just disappear and make a new home lol 😂
I just made your sweet potato pancakes from your cookbook. They were epic, thank you so much xxx
Don't forget about the animals. Check out the pig I saved.
📝✔📝👍🏾
me sees cow in minecraft sees village near by going for dat cow casue im sooooo hungry
Why give away animal so-called food? I have to set an example and giving those away I’d not a good example so a better advise is to compose it. I rather throw it away because I don’t give away what I’m against I throw it away. It’s not wasting if it’s bad for you. I don’t support no ones animal eating habit
It’s important to distinguish what veganism actually is. Veganism is a philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude-as far as is possible and practicable-all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose. Veganism is not a fad diet, not plant-based, not for health or environmental purposes. It is for the animals. Other benefits happen to come along with stopping the Holocaust of animals, and you can be passionate about health or the environment, but veganism in itself is a philosophy about the liberation of animals.
Not necessarily
@Diyonte Ladson no, that would Mahe you plant base. Not vegan
Yeah, because I know a few vegans that are fat unhealthy slobs.
@Diyonte Ladson sorry there isn't. People like to change up things to suit them all the time. A vegan is for the animals. I "thought I was vegan for the longest, then took a deep look at the "fast fashion," and loads of waste I bought such as paper plates. Plant based is a diet. Vegan is a lifestyle
But I do strive to be vegan and appreciate everyone that reduces harm that hurts othwr creatures
We have teeth that are dedicated to eating meats. Enuff said
These outfits are uh, youthful
The B12 information you presented here is partially incorrect. The animals people eat do not get their B12 from the soil and food they eat. In fact, around 95% of all B12 supplements manufactured are actually given to farmed animals. So people who then consume the meat from these animals are just receiving the B12 which originally came from the supplements fed to the animals.
She's talking about the animals that get thier vitamins naturally.
I've been vegan for 27 years. At first I was vegetarian for a few of months, then I decided to to go all in and become vegan. I first heard about veganism at a goth club I went to in the 80's. The hardest part of going vegan, for me, wasn't the food, it was the clothes. I had to give up my black leather boots and my prized black leather biker jacket. That was tough for me!!
You could have kept it because it was a precious memory. I don't buy leathers at all but if I see something that's sturdy I try my hardest for second-hand shops because I'm not contributing to animal cruelty or fast fashion plus it isn't wasteful. There are ways! 💛
When I transitioned from vegetarian to vegan I didn’t purge my non vegan items, I just made sure that any new items I bought were vegan
That’s the hardest part for me too. Well, that and beauty products. I had to go years without a spa day, because I needed to find a salon/spa that used vegan products.
Wow, I love that! Have you been able to replace the leather gear with vegan alternatives? I am so excited about the growing use of pinatex (pineapple leather) and mushroom leather!!
You don't have to give away everything g you own that isn't vegan just moving forward don't buy any non vegan things ... if a animal has died for your clothes it's wasteful to give it away..
I’m 80% plant based and enjoying this sooo much! Not talking too fast and covered all the highlights. Thank you for sharing this! 🤗
Awesome! Thanks so much for watching :)
I was just about to look for this kind of video. Thank you.
You're one of my fave plant based people. I can't claim Vegan-dom. I'm sitting on an old leather couch and still kill ants and all those little tiny bugs that get on my plants. I always want to eat as healthy as possible so have resorted to some dried and frozen vegis as long as it's hard to get to a store. I am ok with that as an option to getting sick. It's so important to watch the creative meals you fix in order to stay on track. Thank you for posting and for talking about the plan. It helps.
Thank you so much! You're doing so well.
The biggest thing that has helped me get on board is realizing the different food I already eat that was already vegan and acknowledging it and keeping a log of it
HI! I am doing meatless challenge with a few friends this month: I have always been a part time vegetarian but this has been easy as I keep dry goods, and had whole foods at home. Focused on vegan, wish me luck! Thanks for your tips.
Thats so great !! I had the same situation when i went vegan last year
Love it!! Good luck, Mocha Sistah!
Great video! Hain has an iodized sea salt too 👍🏾
i tried low carb for only two months when i started college so long ago and it was MUCH harder than being vegan. There's virtually no options at most restaurants for low carb! There are SO many more options as a vegan, it's ridiculous! 2.5 years vegan and it's the easiest lifestyle changed ever.
I food prep one item each day like bake a bunch of potatoes, steam rice, cut up a large salad etc. That way there is a base to easily add the non starchy veggies to.
Thank you for this good information, however, with me I am now a transitioning vegan (still weaning off dairy), I decided to change to a plant based diet, because of my thyroid condition, which is called "hyperthyroidism" unlike hypothyroidism, I have to stay away from iodine, because of my thyroid processing to much TSH. I just wanted to let you know that there are two different types and we are cautioned to stay away from anything iodine (salt, seaweed etc). For all of those suffering with Graves/Hyperthyroidism. I currently use Himalayan salt.
