Really nice video. Some additional points: - You don't *have* to transition overnight. Do it at whatever pace works for you. - Read the labels in the supermarket. For my birthday my non vegan flatmates went all out and made a vegan spread for me, from the veggie burgers to the vegan cupcake AND the side of chips and guac. They loved eating it, too! It's not boring and if people hate on you, ignore it. They don't know what they're MISSING!
I just turned completely vegan in 2023. I’m doing it for the animals and Mother Earth. Weight loss is a really nice perk to eating vegan and limiting ultra processed foods.
I've been vegan for 27 years. At first I was vegetarian for a few of months, then I decided to to go all in and become vegan. I first heard about veganism at a goth club I went to in the 80's. The hardest part of going vegan, for me, wasn't the food, it was the clothes. I had to give up my black leather boots and my prized black leather biker jacket. That was tough for me!!
You could have kept it because it was a precious memory. I don't buy leathers at all but if I see something that's sturdy I try my hardest for second-hand shops because I'm not contributing to animal cruelty or fast fashion plus it isn't wasteful. There are ways! 💛
That’s the hardest part for me too. Well, that and beauty products. I had to go years without a spa day, because I needed to find a salon/spa that used vegan products.
Wow, I love that! Have you been able to replace the leather gear with vegan alternatives? I am so excited about the growing use of pinatex (pineapple leather) and mushroom leather!!
You don't have to give away everything g you own that isn't vegan just moving forward don't buy any non vegan things ... if a animal has died for your clothes it's wasteful to give it away..
i like the distinction in the beginning between the vegan diet and the vegan lifestyle. not everyone who follows a vegan diet lives a vegan lifestyle (especially depending on why you went vegan to begin with). don’t overwhelm yourself if you’re just starting out (:
I try to eat a vegan diet 90% of the time. But I don’t live a vegan lifestyle. I transitioned due to my health, and my severe migraines. But I don’t use non-animal products. I respect the reasons why people are vegan, like they love the planet and animals and stuff. I personally don’t care.
@@Melingue That’s not entirely true (there are many vegan or close to it indigenous cultures around the world) but let’s pretend it is; it’s still a poor argument. The current state of animal agriculture is unlike anything that ever existed before this past 100 years and it’s far past the point of necessity for survival. My ancestor may have had to kill a wild animal to survive. I get to walk into a market and buy rice, lentils, and broccoli. My decision is much easier to make in the present day western nation. Also, I have what we call a moral obligation to make it because I understand that animal products are the direct result of unnecessary suffering.
I originally became vegetarian about forty-five years ago because I hated cooking meat and it was so expensive. I became totally vegan because of a serious dairy allergy. I can honestly say vegan foods are absolutely delicious when prepared with the same love and skill as non-vegan.
The biggest thing that has helped me get on board is realizing the different food I already eat that was already vegan and acknowledging it and keeping a log of it
If you’re like me and low/no sodium as well as vegan you need to eat seaweed or take a supplement to get iodine. Dried seaweed (nori) make a great snack and are available in Asian groceries
You're one of my fave plant based people. I can't claim Vegan-dom. I'm sitting on an old leather couch and still kill ants and all those little tiny bugs that get on my plants. I always want to eat as healthy as possible so have resorted to some dried and frozen vegis as long as it's hard to get to a store. I am ok with that as an option to getting sick. It's so important to watch the creative meals you fix in order to stay on track. Thank you for posting and for talking about the plan. It helps.
I am SO glad that you brought up using iodine along with other necessities like vitamins. I am almost 5 years vegan now, but when I first started out in 2016 when I was 17, every vegan RUclipsr that I followed would always rave about Himalayan salt and diss all the rest. So.. I tried cutting out iodine salt completely for a year or more and ended up with a thyroid issue 🙃 I now use iodine every day
I food prep one item each day like bake a bunch of potatoes, steam rice, cut up a large salad etc. That way there is a base to easily add the non starchy veggies to.
This is awesome!! My hubby and I are doing a 30 plant based challenge. I have chronic migraine and fibromyalgia so hoping this will help w inflammation. This is day FOUR!!🙌🏼♥️ We are loving the Buddha bowls and salads for lunch BUT dinner is a challenge since I have 3 teens who loves meat 🤦🏻♀️🤞

The first vegan meal i learned to master was tacos. They're my favourite food of all time. So using many vegan fillings became an adventure and I still experiment to this day!

I don't know if you will ever read this, but I just discovered your channel and I am binge watching all of your videos and I want to thank you for your work here on RUclips and on your blog! First of all, I love how you are so positive, clear and glowing inside out, you make it really easy and fun to listen to you, and your editing is sooo nice to watch, the music, the images, all just comes together so good. And of course last but definitely not least I looove how you approach veganism, I love the recipes that you share, how it's fresh, healthy, delicious, noutrishous, and also possible on a low budget. Thank you!
I'm a pescatarian, and leaning towards plantbased foods. Yeah, the 80/20. Is so great. Thank you. Its doable. When I began my journey towards becoming a pescatarian, my mind just looked a food differently. 🤷🏽♀️ my urge for egg and 🐓began to disappear. Haven't eaten meat for over 25 years. I found that I wasnt getting sick from colds but still have pollen allergies. I'm gradually reducing consumption of seafood. My transformation was/is to feel better and to reduce health complications such as arthritis etc thats based upon my family history. Thank you sharing your video.
Hi there, I found your channel after deciding to go vegan after watching the “What the Health” documentary on Netflix about a month ago. Your videos, advice, and recipes have helped in my transition so much. Wish I would’ve gone vegan sooner! Thanks so much for all the work you put into your channel! Stay healthy :)
When I first saw the title of this video, I thought you meant you had a new trick for how to literally turn into a vegan in just ten minutes. I was thinking what sort of sorcery did you just discover? Hahaha. What really worked for me was going at my own pace and not setting a deadline to go vegan. I knew if I tried to do it overnight or within a set period of time that I would be setting myself up for failure. It was about eight months or so of binge watching vegan RUclips cooking videos and slowly making changes to my diet that I was finally comfortable going fully vegan. It also helped that as time wore on just seeing animal products repulsed me (except regular NY style cheese pizza. I still miss that one, but the desire isn't so great that I'd ever cave in and order one). So glad I made the switch!
I gradually went vegan (not just the diet aspects of veganism) i was on a standard diet so the first thing that went was the meat, poultry, fish then the dairy and eggs and other animal byproducts then the animal non food products.
HI! I am doing meatless challenge with a few friends this month: I have always been a part time vegetarian but this has been easy as I keep dry goods, and had whole foods at home. Focused on vegan, wish me luck! Thanks for your tips.
Dr. Terry Wahls, although not vegan, really helped me learn about what the body needs! I wish I had seen your video three years ago! Such hard lessons to learn lmfao. YOU ARE SO BEAUTIFUL! ❤️
I have been a whole plant base/vegan lifestyle for about a year. Lately, I am experiencing low blood sugar. Though my doctor wants me to eat meat I feel way better without it. She says I need more protein and fats. I am kind of struggling for a good balance here.
Thank you for this good information, however, with me I am now a transitioning vegan (still weaning off dairy), I decided to change to a plant based diet, because of my thyroid condition, which is called "hyperthyroidism" unlike hypothyroidism, I have to stay away from iodine, because of my thyroid processing to much TSH. I just wanted to let you know that there are two different types and we are cautioned to stay away from anything iodine (salt, seaweed etc). For all of those suffering with Graves/Hyperthyroidism. I currently use Himalayan salt.
Long time subscriber here just wanted to say I LOVE YA sis...ohh yeah and the cookbook! I got it on ebook BUT I think I’d rather have it in hard copy. Y’all if you don’t have that book it’s awesome and it has instant pot goodies in it too🌸
I've gained the confidence to become vegan thanks to your lovely videos!😍I'm really new to veganism but I've been a vegetarian for a long time which I hope will make the transition a bit easier for me! 💕💕💕 Love you and thank you!
Thank you so much for the incredible content! I switch over to a whole foods vegan diet about a week ago and have become overwhelmed with all of these new foods! So many things I have never tried before.Your videos have been so helpful along the way and I am so appreciative of you and your channel!
Excellent video! Clear concise and covered most of the starter basics thoroughly. You're really good at this. I just watched the video you made about vegan sausage and it too is really good. I subscribed and as a mentor for Challenge 22, I am going to recommend your channel and IG .
I want to go vegan one day, it's my goal! right now im in the stage of trying out recipes and learning about nutrition so I don't fall into the habit of taking the easy way out and relying on processed, store-bought, premade meals. I dont think my completely vegan food plan will happen soon though, because I live with 5 people and I literally have one cabinet and one shelf in the fridge to store my food, and we all know veggies are bulky and hard to store... But I will get there eventually!
Sounds like you're making some really good moves-- starting right where you are! The more you think, plan, execute and enjoy your journey veganism will grow in your heart. Lock it in and you will be utterly amazed at how smooth, effortless and 'organic' your transition will be. You might even influence the other 4 to join you! Keep up the good work, to your good health. ☺🍴💕
Would you say you adhere to the McDougal starch solution plan? Your lifestyle seems less strict, but I’m not sure what the difference is. Great video. All your videos are wonderful and so informative.
I find it hard to eat out here because I am already gluten free (celiac) so finding both at restaurants can be challenging. I’m in rural southeast Texas but even Houston doesn’t have a ton of options for both. So far I have not fully changed to plant based but I definitely don’t eat poultry or fish daily. I’m on week 4 of no dairy or eggs.
Hi! I went vegan overnight 1,5 weeks ago but I was wondering, what did you do with all your clothes and cosmetics that are not vegan? How do you go about it all?
I wonder if I would like to prepare the day before what vegan pots hold up good for a party? I was thinking fried cauliflower chicken not sure if it would work
i tried low carb for only two months when i started college so long ago and it was MUCH harder than being vegan. There's virtually no options at most restaurants for low carb! There are SO many more options as a vegan, it's ridiculous! 2.5 years vegan and it's the easiest lifestyle changed ever.
Do you have any plant based/vegan diet or just health good books you recoomend, like information wise not cookbooks? Actually, it would be awesome if you did a video on books you recoomend, documentaries, podcasts etc :)! Or if you just have any recommendations for little old me I would so appreciate too :)!!
Thank you for your lovely tips, Jenne! 💗 I stick to the 80/20 rule a lot, but do you portion your meals at all or do you just eat based on how you feel and only if you are hungry? I have heard it is not healthy to only eat when you are hungry and that you are supposed to eat throughout the day, but I have issues with portion control and wasn't sure how that would apply to the vegan lifestyle, especially if I would be eating super clean...
You do have a sweet soul! I love all your yummy meal Plans! You look so beautiful! I’ve been vegan for 10’years! Big tip to go vegan, no animals! That’s it! Not hard to do! So many alternative meats out there! I’m not a huge fan of the meats but it’s a good way to transition! It’s so easy! ! Love your Chanel !
Glad you made vitamins recommendations. But I heard from Dr. Gregor that studies have shown multivitamin may not maximise absorption of B12. I don’t have a link. But search in Nutritionfacts.org.
Take your time may be the most important tip. Take your time to switch your diet to get used progressively psychologicaly and your digestive system. There is no shame reduce animal products bit by bit. We don't want people to lost the opportunity to being vegan by rushing it.
Hi jene,' I love your channel and love your recipes, but I Cannot eat sugar products. Sugar is very bad for the body especially for the liver. I'm pre diabetic and have fatty liver dse. I dont know if many of your followers know but its caused by adding any flour sugar fats and unhealthy products including alcohol. So asking if you use regular white sugar or coconut sugar?
If you love to cook: 1. Start a Pinterest page to collect recipes. Divide into sections that make sense for you (e.g. breakfast, dinner, snacks, salads, etc). I have a “dinners to try” section for recipes I want to try, then move the recipe over to “dinner favorites” if I want to make it again (and delete if I didn’t like it). 2. If you love a recipe scour the author’s blog for more recipes to add to your Pinterest. Satisfies your internet itch, but more positive than doom scrolling, and expands your repertoire. Also see if they wrote a cookbook. 3. See if authors of your favorite pre-vegan cookbooks have published a vegan or vegetarian cook book (e.g. Cooks Illustrated has a vegan and a vegetarian cookbook). You may find a variety of recipes more familiar to your palate. 4. If you keep seeing recipes for jackfruit, mushroom, or cauliflower tacos, etc, that look delicious but won’t fill you up, come up with ways to bulk up protein/calories of any recipe. I like to crumble tempeh into tiny pieces and sauté with salt and garlic powder. Bitterness can be toned down with a splash of liquid you then cook off (water, broth, wine, soy sauce). Or cut homemade seitan into thin slices (think bacon) and freeze. Throw frozen slices in pan with a bit of oil (or cut into small pieces first), then throw on a splash or 2 of soy sauce and cook off. Or simply microwave frozen edamame with water then drain. Add any of these to your jackfruit tacos or mushroom pizza...delicious and filling,
Do you have suggestions for where to take plantbased courses for certification? There are so many options, I'm unsure as to who is reputable and legit 😬❤
I struggle with planning.. not the actual planning.. the fact that I might change my mind 5 times about what sounds good for dinner after something is already prepped out. lol
I think you need to tell people you are going vegan so they know. I'm thinking of going vegan. What if you live with other people how do you become vegan without giving in to temptation? How do you deal with the pressure from other people?
The one thing I'll have to disagree on slightly is the 80/20 rule. Obviously the more highly processed foods you eat, the less nutrionally dense your food is. The more whole foods one consumes, the healthier your lifestyle is. Eating more whole foods plant based isn't the only way to be a vegan. There are many "junk food" vegans that are successful at being vegan, some even made a career out of that lifestyle. :)
One phrase that scares me when someone is serving me food they made is "I just went vegan" 😅 I'm so excited that they are switching, but I have had so many experiences where they made the same dish they always made but just took out the animal products. Yikes, so bland! Experienced vegan cooks make delicious, wholesome food, but you gotta know your spices and what plants need to take the spotlight. Don't worry, you'll get the hang of it.
Hi! I am really working on how I eat. This video is similar to what you are sharing: ruclips.net/video/LZdMrL30eso/видео.html. I know it’s a bit over engineered, but what are your thoughts around how she is picking the colors? Is this how you eat? Is this in the vein of how you eat during the day?
Really nice video. Some additional points:
- You don't *have* to transition overnight. Do it at whatever pace works for you.
- Read the labels in the supermarket. So many processed foods have hidden dairy in places you'd never expect.
- Don't beat yourself up if you accidentally eat the wrong thing. Mistakes happen.
Really good advice!!!
Love these points! You are so right. Thanks for sharing!
Couldn't agree more
Should I just look at what it "CONTAINS:" or could you tell some of the hidden dairy names?

Terrific advice! I really like your videos and info provided.
Everything you make looks absolutely delicious. Edited to Add: The World's Healthiest Foods is in book form too. I own it.
P.S. you're one of my favorite vegan RUclipsrs.
I do too
I need to get that book!
Thanks so much :)
Just remember your B12 vitamins! 🥦
That's right!
I’ve been vegan for 7 years and my doctor keeps telling me my B12 is super high lol
@@miriamschiro8585 yea, every body saves super much B12. (For like 5-7 years if you ate years and years meat)
Ever tried calling ahead to the kitchen or bringing your own?
Hi! I went vegan overnight 1,5 weeks ago but I was wondering, what did you do with all your clothes and cosmetics that are not vegan? How do you go about it all?
Thank you so much! Love your necklace!
whats the recipe at 3:20 ?
Love this channel... Now it might use less faux vegan foods and oil. Blessings!
You crack me up! Enjoying your videos and style of advice SO much 😁
What about second breakfast?
I wonder if I would like to prepare the day before what vegan pots hold up good for a party? I was thinking fried cauliflower chicken not sure if it would work
i tried low carb for only two months when i started college so long ago and it was MUCH harder than being vegan. There's virtually no options at most restaurants for low carb! There are SO many more options as a vegan, it's ridiculous! 2.5 years vegan and it's the easiest lifestyle changed ever.
WOW! Looks so delicious! I'm not 100% vegan but I'm always open to trying new ways to eat and prepare food! 😍😍
Great tips!! I'm new to vegan in 2021.
Thanks for sharing the added resources. I'll check them out.
Excellent video, thank you!
Definitely needed 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽😊 refreshing and healthy
Do you have any plant based/vegan diet or just health good books you recoomend, like information wise not cookbooks? Actually, it would be awesome if you did a video on books you recoomend, documentaries, podcasts etc :)! Or if you just have any recommendations for little old me I would so appreciate too :)!!
Great video! Thank you for sharing these tips! 💗
Very helpful video, as well as the sites. I really enjoyed it.
Sis you are absolutely glowing!!!! 💚💚💚
#PoweredByPlants
Right! She is glowing!
Thank you!
Thank you so much for sharing 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Thanks.
So so pretty. And I love your choice of music
Thank you
100% for my health ❤
Great video/ advice. Is loosing weight also in this vegan package?
You look so lovely🌻. What a great video!
Appreciate this.
Glad you made vitamins recommendations. But I heard from Dr. Gregor that studies have shown multivitamin may not maximise absorption of B12. I don’t have a link. But search in Nutritionfacts.org.
Very helpful
Love your hair!
Hello!
Do you have a enchilada recipe, lentil loaf recipe?
Check out her website! There’s sooooooo many recipes there 😊
@@xxxTacoJuicexxx
Thanks for the information!! 😃👍
Take your time may be the most important tip. Take your time to switch your diet to get used progressively psychologicaly and your digestive system.
There is no shame reduce animal products bit by bit. We don't want people to lost the opportunity to being vegan by rushing it.
Thank you so much 🥗
Great video!
I use stevia.
Beautiful hair!
If you love to cook:
Forks over knifes have a great course
Good advice and I’m trying to be vegan!❤️
Good
Love it tfs Queen
I’ve been vegan for 5 years but I’ve gotten into a rut during college and I’m struggling to transition to a healthier vegan diet
Maybe try 80/20 and make the 20% recipes that you find and like here from other channels and books you like.
Excellent video! For all the guys who can't be convinced about veganism, check out The Game Changers, also on Netflix.
I struggle with planning.. not the actual planning.. the fact that I might change my mind 5 times about what sounds good for dinner after something is already prepped out. lol
getting more vegan! Loving it!
I think you need to tell people you are going vegan so they know. I'm thinking of going vegan. What if you live with other people how do you become vegan without giving in to temptation? How do you deal with the pressure from other people?
Sir....u must learn discipline....it is a must.
But if U slip....don't beat yourself up....just know to do better the next time #1-Day@ATime
You prepare food ahead so it’s always ready and you allow and forgive yourself when you eat something else❣️
When a host says they will "include a link"...where is the link?
Which link are you looking for? I must have overlooked it.
Did you look in the description box?
The one thing I'll have to disagree on slightly is the 80/20 rule. Obviously the more highly processed foods you eat, the less nutrionally dense your food is. The more whole foods one consumes, the healthier your lifestyle is. Eating more whole foods plant based isn't the only way to be a vegan. There are many "junk food" vegans that are successful at being vegan, some even made a career out of that lifestyle. :)
I am Anemia, and certain foods that are non meat that has iron in it does not provide the right amount of iron I need.
Here are some vegan iron supplement that can help....talk to Dr 1st......Garden of Life Healthy Blood or Raw Iron, or Mega Food Good Builder
@@fitnesswithyou thank you so much! I'll check everything out!!
I did it for health reasons
