  • In this video I compare a 2020 Model 3 Standard Range + to a 2023 Model 3 Long Range.
    The Model 3 was announced in 2016 and released in 2017, in 2021 there was a minor refresh and for the 2023 model year there are no real changes other than the removal of the USS sensors.
    The biggest changes coming from a 2020 or earlier model:
    -Black trim over the silver - including door sills
    -Double pane window glass (for noise reduction)
    -Headlight change
    -Center console change
    -Change from Intel to Ryzen chip for MCU
    -Resistive to Heat Pump for cabin heating
    -Door panel change
    Plus some more minor changes outlined in this video.
    Time Codes:
    Intro: 0:00-0:34
    Exterior differences: 0:34-4:19
    Interior differences: 4:19-10:32
    Keycard differences: 10:32-10:59
    Quick interior view of each car: 10:59-13:00
    Outro: 13:00-14:40

    I just picked up my 2023 Model 3 this past weekend after returning my leased 2020 Model 3. It's the same car, but Tesla has improved it tremendously. The cameras are better, the car is definitely quieter on the road, the responsiveness of the screen is better. I am really happy with it.

    I own the 2030 model 3, it has a new invisible design, so you won't find it in my garage

    Thank you for doing this video. I have driven a 2023 M3 LR for a Demo Drive but thinking of buying a used 2020 LR. This helps me understand some of the differences.

    I had the same both cars. One point to mention is that driver seat height is now higher than 2020 model.

    Yesterday September 18th 23 I purchased a 2020 Model3 from Carmax used. And I love it haha. Thank you for this video. I saw this video before and felt kinda sad for the usb connector on the back by the A/C because in this video you mention that the 2020 comes with the usb A. So the first thing I checked on this car that I had reserved for a week I notice it comes with the usb c. So I’m pretty happy.

    will be getting a new RWD LR soon. My only no no is that I won't like the wood panels on the dash/doors. I've seen covers for that but do not know if the tape will last. will maybe also be covering the white exterior mirrors with mate plastic cause I think they will scratch easily. the front white bumper is also going to get some ugly scratches so maybe I'll ceramic coat that or plastic wrap it. Highland will just have to wait some 6 more years...

    Thank you for this. I've made a decision to purchase a Tesla. Currently I have a BMW i3. I've noticed that the models between 2020 and 2023 they have a lot of similarities and then they also have differences. So I'm on a research binge trying to make a decision.

    Are the electrical systems different? Are the 0-60 different.

    i know it is personal preference but i much much more prefer the chrome accents, it makes it look more luxurious, the black trims makes it look cheapy plastic but also looks cleaner

    Thanks a lot for the video! I am in Norway and getting my 2023 M3 LR AWD this week, and this video was perfect!
    Quick question: Are the cameras the same or is there and difference? Has been mentioned about new cameras with 5 MP, but maybe its no on the M3?

    How has your 2020 held up? How many Miles do you have ? Did you lease it ? Any reason why I shouldn’t buy a used 2020?

    • @IansTech
      @IansTech  10 месяцев назад +1

      2020 was fine - I had it for ~7 months before getting the new one. Can’t speak to longevity. I got it with 24k miles and ended with 31k miles. No reason to not consider it - 2021 model has the more updated look and better sound deadening. 2020 model is still great tho.

    Hi I take delivery tomorrow of M3 AWD 2023 model I have seen car mats/trunk liners pack advertised for M3 2020 to 2022 models so does that mean they will not fit my 2023? not sure what the differences are there? if any?

    • @IansTech
      @IansTech  7 месяцев назад +1

      Those mats will fit just fine. I’m using mats I got for my 2020 in my 2023 model now

    Thank you. At the moment, Tesla has good prices on 2020 AWD models. The only feature I might miss is automatic trunk opening.

    • @IansTech
      @IansTech  9 месяцев назад

      They have a retrofit for 2019 and 2020 models for $800 if you want the power trunk.

      In some ways yes, but in some ways the older models had more luxury feel.
