I grabbed a sr+ 2019 with 122k miles I was crazy reluctant but once I seen and drove the car. Owner took meticulous care beside small minor cosmetic interior dirt which is fixable this thing looks minty and drives like day 1
Excellent video with lots of great info. I put a ton of research in when I bought my car (fun fact my car is the blue one in the video) and I still learned new info.
One other fun little detail (I went from a 2019 to 2022) is that the frunk is slightly smaller. The mechanical sound when engaging the park is also a little less pronounced. 2019 had controller via USB support and has additional games like Cuphead and Sonic, most 2022 models lose data capability on all USB ports (except glovebox), and no longer support controllers or games that use them, so no more Sonic or Cuphead. The rear mounted (behind passenger) deck speakers are also missing in the 2022, but present in the 2019, although they were disabled. May only matter for those that wish to aftermarket enable the disabled speakers. The front fog lights were enabled on the 2019 SR+, but not on the 2022 RWD. Just sharing some observations since I’ve owned both to add to the things you helpfully pointed out to people.
You missed (I previous had 2020 LR and now have a 2022 LR)... 1) Heater steering wheel is now included 2) Heated windscreen wiper position - to defrost the wipers from ice. 3) Removal of the lumbar support on the passenger side. 4) Improved paint as they have got better with the water based paints. With regard to AC charging, Tesla's also supports 3 phase type II @ 16A (total = 48A) charging where available.
Really cool comparison between the two of them. Also love your voice and how you come up with the information. Keep up the good work, always a pleasure to play your videos ! :)
Luckily you're not my car saleswoman, ... believe you would buy everything ! ;-) Very beautiful video! My Tesla Model 3 SR+ is from December 2020, and i'm happy with him,...he doesn't make ANY noise!! Greetings from Switzerland.
Great comparison! Very clear, concise, and well spoken! Only one minor mistake, the new LFP batteries are not 2170, they are CATL Prismatic cells. I'll be curious to see what the 2023 uses for batteries as both CATL and BYD have made major improvements in their LFP cells.
What are your observations regarding suspension? People say it's vastly improved and not as bumpy of a ride in the new models whereas the older ones are very stiff and not very nice
The LFP is hands down the way to move forward...i could order any trim of the Model 3 or Model Y but after doing the research on the batteries, no way will I go for a NCA battery...so its the RWD. Most efficient of the group at a price point that makes sense.
I want to see what they can do when the LMFP cells are introduced. I have a 2021 SR+ M3, everything the new one has except for the LFP battery. With regard to the CCS adapter, before you buy one, make sure your car supports it. You have to check the vehicle information and make sure CCS adapter support is enabled.
I found me 2 model 3's both in white. 1st one was $31k the 2nd was $35k. I've been saving up for the car for a while. Plus soon I am hopefully getting drivers lessons. So hopefully my tesla will be waiting for me.
That was way more detailed and better than I thought it would be. I don't think I could own an electric car until range or charging stations become more wide spread. I live in the middle of the USA and there is only one charger within 50 miles of me.
The real question is what’s your daily driving range? How many miles do you put on? If it’s less than 200 on average, then you’ve got a comfortable buffer for any 300+ mile trucks. If you need to tow heavy loads and do miles every day, that’s maybe interesting ,but few people use their trucks for heavy loads regularly.
You left out the performance- aka sleeper model that came out in late 2019 as a 2020 model but it was very limited and wasn't advertised from the Tesla website.
One major point that many didn't bring up is the 2019 use the same rear motor as their performance. The 2022 use a weaker motor, which is why uts slower.
I have the same 2019 sr+ as yours. We're able to unlock the speed and speakers (6 speakers total including 2 rear unlike the newer models) . I don't have the red roof tho
Thank you for this! If given the choice between NCA and LFP, I’d take the NCA because of the acceleration. Still, I can’t wait to take delivery in the next few months!
Waiting for my 22 LFP M3 due to arrive in October. Since there's no adjustment for regen (?), is the one setting robust, moderate or weak? I'm used to D & L choices on the Bolt EV. Toggling back & forth is easy - L for city, D for hiway. Not sure what to expect on the 3.
Go into the menu for "Stopping Mode" and choose "Hold". That settings gives the most regen. You have to be in "Park" before you can change the setting.
Mine was scheduled to arrive in OCT now it's showing September, with the tax credits pending, and long range no longer being available, plus potential price reduction, i am totally on the fence, not sure if i should push my delivery further out, are you taking yours?
If I purchased eap for $6000 but wanted fsd in the future will it be discounted from the $12000 price? I see in the site they discount it monthly but what about the full price version? Thank you! Great review!
@@EleazarGray Instant heat and a lot of heat pumps where exploding up in Canada but Tesla has solved this issue as of now. I guess in very cold weather the pumps where ingesting liquid refrigerant. Guess what? You can't compress a liquid so the pumps would quit working and would need replaced. So yeah the old resistive heat was more reliable. This is all at the cost of range tho.
Test the 0-60 in the 2019, it has the rear performance model 3 motor, it can do under 5seconds after update! (0-100 km/h 5.08s) Also above 100km/h to top speed difference is even bigger, about 16seconds faster for older model
It’s disgusting. The new car does NOT have parking sensors! I had a 2019,now have a brand-new one and Felt I’ve been missed sold. The fact was hidden from me, that they have just removed the parking sensors in the European and North American market😡 for nearly a £50,000 car!
Some improvements are desirable; others… not so much, Lorraine. I'll just stick with my 2018 model for now, and we'll see what alternatives are available in the future. One thing I will say: the PCS in the HV Battery Service Panel is starting to break down in a growing number of older Model 3s like yours and mine. The bad news is: Tesla won't repair them under the HV Battery Warranty. BAD decision, Tesla! Do BETTER!
Used is way better from private seller so u can get your purchase price Lower on the pink slip. I save 400 a year on registration and saved 1000 in taxes when I bought mine by doing this
Buying used from Tesla, you would get an extra 1 year/10k miles warranty, essentially guaranteeing the mechanical condition. Savings on registration would be dependent on which State.
there is zero logic to buy used tesla, at least in Europe: - prices are overinflated - cars are 3-4years olds with 80k + miles - battery degradation - and most important, technology improved so much in this 4 years
With the price increases and no tax credit, it's not worth upgrading to a newer model Tesla. And that $35,000 standard range only lasted a couple weeks before they stopped selling them. But not only did the roof glow that orange color when wet, most of the rear glass did too. Then they started selling them with only the center roof doing that. And it's pronounced "Tes-La", not "Tez-La". Elon doesn't pronounce it correctly, he's not an original founder of the company and they pronounced it as "Tes-La". On the interior you forgot to mention that the lower door panels around the cup holder is a hard plastic now and not that soft touch material that can get nicked easily. And Vegan Leather is a fancy name for vinyl. Removing the radar has caused even more phantom braking events, even though Elon said removing the radar would cause less of them.
Kia EV6 GT Line has many more features than the Y, about $12k less plus $7.5k fed tax credit. fast charging DC 800v architecture in 18min from 10-80% which is 2x the Y. 320 hp, 0-60 in 4.6s, 300 mile range, dual motor or single Eco mode. 1000kwhr free charging equivalent 2 yrs of driving via Electrify America. Ventilated seats, 20” wheels. Kia service everywhere, no waiting weeks/months like Tesla service if you can find one within 100 mile radius.
Once you spec up the GT line to compare with the Y, the price is very very similar. Also, EV6 dealers add about $10,000 because everybody wants one. Another benefit to Tesla because the price is the price.
The LFP cells in the 2022 RWP model are prismatic form factor and not 2170 (cylindrical).
Ah! Thank you for that. Right!

Great addition!
The controller support is still there through the glovebox.
3:30. I think the reason that the newer RWD is heavier than the old SR+ is that the former got an LFP pack.
more isolation, speaker in the front, double glassing and other batteries.

Good to know not much has changed!
A lot has changed imo! 2022-2023 model is much preferred, good improvements of battery (LFP is super), interior, options, noise, exterior quality.

Lfp is great! Probably the preference for most drivers, unless one specifically wants to have a little extra oomf when accelerating from 0 km/h
"automatic frunk" is such an oddly funny sentence. Like a cheesy pickup line. "Hey baby. want to check out my automatic frunk?" lol
