A pump similar to oil pump so we can find which oil is the fastest
Sweet
Yeah
You put the bearing in different with each oil test.
Magnatec is important because it keeps a molecular coating of oil on the cylinder walls to provide lubication upon startup. VERY IMPORTANT
I’m watching all l these vids they are very useful thank you very much
Very good video, I hope to see more of this VS
I bought pennzoil api sn for my motorcycle engine but after I watch this is now it's for my chain use. I have to buy Castrol active api sl now. Great video
Castrol always made a great product have used it for years in different vehicles. and engines with great results!
Martin Wall 💩
So have I!
You should do a video of Quaker State vs Pennzoil both 10w30 or 5w30. When I worked Jiffy Lube the first time in the late 90's they had Quaker State on tap and commission. The second time I worked at Jiffy lube was around 2007 and they switched to Pennzoil on tap and no commission!!!
Good to know as I was using Pennzoil but switched to Castrol awhile ago.
Were did you get that wear testing machine and pieces of metal you test ?
Hey can you do a cold comparison of only both Pennzoil & Castrol?
When the Castrol still had 2.0 after the test he said wow Castrol came out on top, let me recalibrate the scale😂😭
Great video! thanks for the information.
Would Castrol Edge full synthetic have similar results as the one you were testing in the video?
Yeah I'm notice that you compared Castrol edge conventional oil against a full synthetic Pensoil full synthetic platinum
What I like about Castrol is that any of the oils are pretty much good. Me personally I have 5w-30 & I use Ultra Clean on my Highlander while the Rav4 97' will get High Milage both oils at Home depot 5Q aee around 17-19$
i like castrol also. i use regular. and i add half quart risilone concentrate together. no issues. its around $7 here a qt. so i get my oil changed for $35. saves me $ but mainly saves my back. castrol for the win.🏁
I have a 97 awd automatic rav4 and I also usually use the castrol.
I would say it depends on the engine and make.. BMW with turbo goes with full sun Castrol while 4.6 ford perfectly set up with platinum Pennzoil
Castrol edge?
A good video idea, try to test the oils when you reach they are used on the boiling test. REgards
I tried in the first video
Have you ever considered testing Marvel mystery oil as an oil? If it can be used for up to 20% of your oil capacity, I would love to see how it would stack up against actual oil. Maybe against a 0w16
Harvest king full synthetic. Sold at Rural King. I would love to see more reviews on it.
Thanks for the suggestions
Nate, you’ve done a very good job with this one. You’ve tested a lot of parameters with amps and decibel levels added. This is going to give us a really idea of which oil is best.
I would like you to test a Euro spec oil like Lubromoly or some other brand as they are supposedly held to a higher standard. This would really prove if there is a big difference between oils. If foreign oils can’t be used then maybe Mobil 1 or Pennzoil Euro oil can be tested.
Thanks so much and what can improve our test
European oils have higher zinc shell / pennzoil tech said but in turn dont meet american specs like SN and car manufacturers specs because can clog your cats in your vehicles because high zinc levels
Yes however if you aren't burning significant oil and small amounts parts per million low then i would be ok with use.
Like to see a test with Havoline nobody has done that yet and I was curious how good is Havoline
the performance of engine oils cannot be determined by this test, because their performance shines when under pressure and higher temperatures, not room temperature. for example, their viscosity changes with temp (5w-20 etc). so at room temp, castrol may be the winner, but neither castrol nor the Penzoil is used at room temp (yes i know, at startup of an engine) for too long.
one could expect viscosity change relatively the same for both oils. a relatively higher viscosity wins? I would not rule just on that.. it also depends on how much less surface tension is provided by the chemicals in it.
What is the best oil for 5w30w or 10w30 what is the best oil test
Magnatec is not following same guidelines as the Pennzoil platinum as it only meets a couple ford specs were as platinum meets GM 6094/4718 mopar 6395 specs which in turn could give Castrol the edge with different rogue oil make up.
A better test would be Castrol baseline synthetic Castrol edge vs Pennzoil platinum OR Pennzoil ULTRA vs Castrols next step up like Castrol edge extended performance or whatever it is
It probably had more zinc or something
This is Castrol Magnatec vs. Pennzoil Platinum. Other Castrol and Pennzoil variants (for the same oil weight) have very different formulations.
That same Castrol makes noises at start up. Got rid of it immediately
Can u test Castrol super snowmobile oil against amsoil and other 2 stroke oil. I think u should also test oils at engine operating temps instead of cold
Nice test..I noticed you put the bearing in a different way for the pennzoil. Not sure it makes a difference or not..??
QS ultimate durability, Supertech synthetic and or synthetic HM. I would like to see some of the inexpensive "off the walmart shelf" oils that every day Joe uses.
I used super tech at the 1st video in the tournament
Stay away from QS if u are using 2007 and up cars
What’s the proper oil to use on a 2012 VW CC 2.0t sport 4 cylinder??
Castrol Edge 5w40.
A chevron classic. Please test the Havoline Pro DS full synthetic 5w30 against whatever. They have a very high flashpoint. More than both of these. Thanks
How about Castrol Bio Synthetic?
Castrol anti-friction 👍.
Test Castrol edge FST titanium please ? she is more upscale than the magnatec!
Thanks for the suggestion and what can improve our test
Magnatec has better viscosity index and noack %.
How about castrol magnetic 0w30 c2 vs penzoil ultra platinum witch one is better
Amazon Basics vs Super Tech 5w-20 full synthetic
They did it. Amazon won. They're just another brand of oil not made by Amazon, with an Amazon label on it. I forget the company, but it's a major petrol corporation.
I think the cheepest version of Castrol full synthetic beat the cheapest version of Pennzoil full synthetic, very nice and unexpected.
Platium is more expensive than regular Pennzoil black label fully synthetic. I have been using Magnatec since I saw Magnatec synthetic oil tests few years ago. Also, it’s important for cold start in mid west
Ever heard of PQIA ?
It's a reputable major lubricant testing organization you can see results online.
If you compare Castrol edge on there as far as volatility test Pennzoil wins in past years and up to last tests in 2017 !
I'm hoping your volatility test was accurate and not somehow off.
I mean it's possible as MAGNATEC is really a rogue oil that dont meet any manufacturers specs except a couple old ford specs if I recall correctly. So in other words MAGNATEC is not playing by the same oil make up rules !
COUNTRY FAMILY FOR LIFE ! Dude Ive gone to their page a couple of times but I can’t find any specific results for pennzoil ultra, maybe it’s me but that page is a pain to browse
Thanks for sharing
Castrol magnatec is one of the best oils on the whole market
The difference is that the whole line of Castrol Oil is great. Not just the top
Ever done 2 stroke oils?
What's the price difference?
It doesn't seem that big of a difference..
.....why do you turn the fixed test sample , 90 degr. in the holder ? that is not fair....
Faulty test. The roller bearing on the Castrol test was installed in a different orientation from the bearing on the Pennzoil test. The orientation of the roller bearing on the Pennzoil test has a greater contact patch than the bearing on the Castrol test.
Test is invalid.
Thanks for watching
time stamp?
Is Casteol EDGE truly better?
Hi could you please test liqui Moly against Castrol both of them 10W50 full synthetic
Can you test Valvoline full syn high mileage?
I highly agree. Valvoline full synthetic high mileage 5W-30. That's my personal preference when it comes to motor oil.
What can improve our test
I need ideas for testing
NATES INTERACTIVE AUTO Test the various brand of High Miley Oils on the Market I have been asking for Months and use 5w20 not 5w30 thx
Quaker atare Highmilage va Castro edge highmilage or Castrol edge vs Castrol magnatec....
Thanks for suggestions and what can improve our test
In the future, can you somehow put a timer on the pour tests to compare the pours of different oils from different tests?
Im concerned if the room temp is off one day it could play a difference.
@@NATESINTERACTIVEAUTO it would! Not easy being a scientist conducting experiments! 💪 great job so far!
Stp motor oil should be in this can get it at autozone
Amazon basics next please

Thank you!
Great video
Thanks a lot so what can improve our test
can you test Motul 8100 X-Power 10W-60
Thanks for the suggestions and we have some great oils on the way
Super tech high milage full synthetic 5w20
Thank You.....
You should have used Castrol Edge, the black jar. The Gold is even better which compares with the PUP.
These are to great oils I think the Pennzoil is a little better oil but used Castrol also both are great
I would like to see castro high milage 5/30 vs. Penzoil high milage 5/30.
Castrol* it's named after a bird.
@@Litvagopnik Not my bird
Use a Torque wrench instead of the weight, push it down till the metal is under load, see how long before it smokes and read the pressure and read the resistance on the electric motor, will tell exactly how good the oil is )) and check for wear
I can just add more weight a torque wrench style is easy to give unfair results
@@NATESINTERACTIVEAUTO Read the torque as applying the pressure, load them both up til one breaks down first, its very accurate
Thanks for your suggestions
@@NATESINTERACTIVEAUTO Cool, i seen a practical demonstration years ago with oil additives
Yeah i have seen different demonstrations as well
I've gone thru lots oil tests in my vehicles. I've used every brand and was a die hard Valvoline Full Synthetic High Mileage guy but, I've been recently been using Castrol Full Synthetic High Mileage and after 2 oil changes you can definitely tell the difference. Runs alot smoother and oil seems to last longer compared to Valvoline. I've had to top up with Valvoline compared to Castrol. I added Liqui Moly to my oil to see what the hype is about.
Thanks for sharing and what can improve our test
What's the difference between high mileage full synthetic and the regular full synthetic oil?
@@C.G91 Oil seal additives in high mileage oils help keep your oil seals reconditioned and swelled to prevent leaking/burning
Seems like no one picked on a unfair disadvantage during the test given to Penzzoil.
The first abrasion test was done with Castrol oil on super slick wheel. Then the wheel was made abrasive with a sandstone which made it much harder for the oil to smoothen the resistance so it took more amps of energy to roll against heavier abrasion made with sandstone.
At the end of the test during the comparison of removed material, the penzzoil side looked way more roughed up than the super slick side of castrol.
To make the test fair, sand stone should have been used during both oils tested to make same type of abrasion for the both oils to fight against.
He does it between tests to keep it consistent lmao. Turn your ears on
I have 2 hemis and i have never used straight 5w 20. Its too thin. Even from my days of owning an f 150 that required 5w 20, i always mixed one or 2 quarts of 5 w 30. Has always worked for me. Never had a tick problem
Awesome i appreciate you sharing with us.
Smart man here.
I have a Hemi Tick going and once I switched to pennzoil full synthetic, the Tick is much more quiet now.
You seem biased to Castrol. You don't show the results of the test as you get them, and there are lots of cut aways which may lead some to believe you're tampering with results in favor of your oil. I point this out only because I know magnatec is a low grade synthetic, and Pennzoil Platinum is high quality, out performing high end oils like Mobil 1 and Royal purple. Maybe it's just me, but this seemed done in a way so that it would be impossible for Mag to lose.
Thanks for watching and castrol lost many times.
@@NATESINTERACTIVEAUTOWait what? Elaborate please!
So the class III Magnatec beat the class IV Pennzoil?
The 3 motor oils that always come on top are AMS oil , red line , and ultra platinum penzoil.
No Mobil1?
Pennzoil ultra platinum.
Mobile 1 is better
@@marlon94124 I use Pennzoil Ultra Platinum to get among the top best without the top price at Walmart. My engines runs so smooth with it. I also use Fram Ultra Synthetic oil filter, which is much cheaper than the Amsoil filter without much a difference in quality.
@@marlon94124 you don’t know that. You’re just speaking out of bias.😊
Truthfully both oils are amazing. Obviously this isn’t the most accurate test but it’s about as accurate as we need for an idea on what these oils can really do,it seems they are all individually stronger in their own aspects. Pennzoil is better at certain things then Castrol,& Castrol is better at certain things then Pennzoil…all comes down to preference.
Would have been a better contest if you used the ultra platnium
Ultra platinum on the way
We sell magnatec as a synthetic blend at my job lmao. Castrol Edge is their main full synthetic, and then they have edge advanced protection or something.
Castrol Magnatec works so good Castrol pulled it off of the market. It was too good. When is switch to it my truck made no noise at all anymore in start up!
Great video😊
Thanks

@@NATESINTERACTIVEAUTO you're welcome 😊
@@NATESINTERACTIVEAUTO I'm not sure. I'm just learning from you lol.
Any ideas please let me know
It seems to be a good scientific test.
With Castrol 5w-40in my 5cylinder oil pressure is around 22psi idling 62 constantly while cruising with pennzoil idle is 18 cruising is 59-60.
I like the decibel meter tho
My car used to consume 1 liter oil at 3.500 km. Changed to magnatec, now it almost does not use any oil.
I don't know why but I was religious about using the magnatec in my 98 corolla. That thing went ~90k miles for me, 207k-298k miles in my ownership. For the price, I could absolutely have gotten better oil.
Weight scale of 1 Gram is way more precise then in ounces. The difference between 1 to 1.1 os gives 3 grams without change on the display... At least You wet the top of the bearings to start with a filme of lube already apllied.
Amazon basics sn plus oil
Thanks so what can improve our test
Castrol a class of its own
Interesting
Well said.
I agree quality oil
Castrol edge titanium /extended (yellow bottle)
What can improve our test
i use castrol regular with 1/2 qt risilone together. no issues ever.
Valvoine and royal purple
Have you seen the valvoline and redline and yes we can
Test is null. You had the bearing in against the grain with Pennzoil, then showed the bearings at the end with like directional scars.
weird since both are Shell brands, and Penzoil is the more pricey, slightly more premium option compared to Castrol.
So project farm did this and Pennzoil actually had better lab results then most brands. In fact the only two oils that were better were the Amsoil and Kendall and not by much. It was also the Ultra platinum. I switched from Royal Purple to Pennzoil Ultra platinum and my car is running so much smoother with better throttle response and gas mileage. The heat test to me isn’t accurate. With a flat plate griddle you can control the temperature being applied. With a bunson burner you can’t accurately control the temperature.
Your oil brand has NOTHING to do with you thinking your car is "smoother" and gets more MPG.
You obviously know nothing about engines. A brand of oil wont make ANY change you can feel. Think again.
Definitely getting more mpg with Penzoil and no oil burning!
He never tested Castrol Edge!
Castrol goes the distance!!!
Maybe
plees test oil EZI Extra Power Lube Blue

Why is it that no one has compared Pennzoil ultra against Platinum synthetic high mileage? I'm hoping to see something soon or else I am going to assume the High mileage platinum 5W20 synthetic isn't all what it's cracked up to be !
I've always used Castrol in my pentastar even tho dodge recommend to use Pennzoil 😏💪
Alessandro Terracciano I have the pentastar in my Jeep as well and was told to never use Castrol it would cause serious lifter tick. What’s your experience with using castrol?
@@dakotabraswell Lol and why would you have problem using the same oil ? It's not like you've changed viscosity i still use 5w20, Castrol has more detergent so it will keep your engine clean, it resist better to high temperature too, i usually change my oil every 8k even tho Dodge recommend to change it every 15k and i bought it brand new now i have 50k on engine no tick or else for now, but even with my older vehicle in Italy I've always used Castrol and I've always been fine 👍
Dakota Braswell I have been using Castro’s for years on my v6 Dakota and it’s been good.

Thank you and what about testing flow threw a actual oil pump set up outside the engine
@@NATESINTERACTIVEAUTO that actually sounds really cool tbh
Yeah I have had it but I'm skeptical if people will like it I've looked for a proper flow meter but for now can measure the oil pumped in a specified time set on my 12 volt timer as its 12volt and uses electricity but the guts are working the same as any other oil pump
I'd test at severe sub zero to show oils true colors for cold start up protection

Good video ... however that’s a digital caliper not micrometer , it’s not precise if you eyeball and measure that way
According to the definition a caliper or a micrometer is a instrument designed to provide highly accurate measurements. caliper is correct and yes thats not the best way to measure the scars. So thats why i didn't hardly do it. This is why a show the weight. But the difference in scar size was easily shown with the caliper because the difference was significant enough. However i hope you have a great day. Tell us what you like. There is much to be improved this is why we need to work together.
