@@joeygarcia5114 will do! Should have something soon
Amazing! I recently discovered one of your vids and am now really enjoying it. Yes, I like the note copy of the chords you mentioned. You are a precise teacher with a straightforward approach, but there is lot to it. God Bless!
@@JirehAsis aw!! Thanks for the kind words! The PDF and lesson video are in process. Hopefully I’ll have it out soon

Bro this video is excellent! I ALWAYS have a capo on my electric (I play a Les Paul) and playing in open-position C and G shapes is pretty much where I live. I would add just a few comments as to other little bits that tighten up our worship guitar playing. For one thing- arpeggios are perfect but less is more. Ever listen to Andy Summers of the Police? Three note triad arpeggios- brilliant voicings- tons of space. Yeah, everybody wants to sound like The Edge in U2 but go back to Andy and listen to his chord voicings and his glorious use of space. Secondly- don't forget to use the TONE KNOBS on your guitar. Strats are versatile and I played one for 30yrs but didn't understand what a truly versatile guitar sounded like until I started playing a 'Paul. Two pickups, two volume knobs, two tone knobs and endless possibilities and sounds that mimic everything from rumbly, organ-like dark tones to muted flute sounds. And every electric guitarist should have a compressor for those clear tones. A compressor focuses and broadens our modulation effects and is pretty much essential for producing those ambient tones that are so popular in worship music these days . . .
Anyway . . . Dave . . . great video and solid instruction . . . Blessings 2U and yours . . . 😎
Aw, thanks so much! Thank you for the kind words. and great additions! Blessings!
Yes please when u have a chance please make the pdf for capo lesson. Thank you!
@@1stLightPhotoDXB thanks for letting me know! It’s in process, hopefully will be done soon! 😊
Only just come across this channel... Can't wait for that video!
Very soon! Thanks for watching!
Spot on, Dave!
Thanks bro!
Thanks Dave! Very helpful video for someone like me transitioning from acoustic to electric. I’d love to see that PDF chart as well for capo!
I'm glad this was helpful! I've had a few people ask about the PDF so that's gonna need to happen. Keep rockin bro!
Yessss the capo sheet is amazing thank you for the great content, will also help me in my worship team. 🙏
Another vote to make that capo chart. Things are looking like I need to do this.
Good advice and encouragement. I try to emulate the style and approach of the band adding my own nuances and flair to the into’s and I tend to develop my own lead. I’ve been playing for 50+ years. Keep up the good work. You definitely are helping fellow blessed
I have been looking for your videos (how to: worship guitar, and everything else) for YEARS! I'm so glad to have found your vids! However a slight bit of a critical suggestion for you to consider.... Change the name of your Chanel to something containing (worship guitar). I believe I would have found you much sooner.
I'm so glad you found this channel! And thank you for your input, I wasn't 100% sure what this channel would look like when I made the account, I just knew I wanted to help people. I will take into consideration a name change and see what's out available. Thanks for watching and thanks for the constructive comment. 😊
Love your green screen ambient backgrounds!
@@SergeUnplugged lol green screen would be so much easier. To date all my shots with a studio in the background is me in the studio. At the very least this one is legit.
As a sound guy, I love when guitar players use the available pickup positions to mix themselves.
If you are playing single note "leads" while the vocalist is singing, it's a great time to do it on the neck pickup as the rolled off high end places it behind the vocal where it belongs.
Great video Dave.
For sure! That's a great way to not get turned down by your audio engineer. 😁 It's great if you have am A1 that you can talk about what you can do from stage to make the mix stronger. I'm lucky to be able to do that every week with our production director.
@GettinBetterWithDave or worse, turned down and not turned back up later. 😉
You really are getting us better Dave!
Thanks for that!
Keep makin' videos, Dave. These are superb.
Thanks very much, Matt! I'll keep making them for sure!
Video and pdf sounds great.
@@jerrypiatt1105 thank you for letting me know! Should have things put together very soon!
Would totally like that pdf as a resource
@@karenmcspadden7240 I will have some time very soon to work that out. So keep an eye out for it. 👍🏻
@@karenmcspadden7240 thanks for letting me know you would use it! 😊
My brain struggles with transposing…which causes me to avoid the capo. You have a good point about its usefulness. Good stuff.
I feel ya, That's part of the reason that I love the number system, it narrows down the number of options and then if you calculate where the capo needs to be before you play, you're not thinking of it as much while you're playing. At least that's been my experience.
Thanks for the comment!
I would love to see that video and PDF
@@Izthewright awesome! I’ll have some time to work on that very soon! Thanks for letting me know! 😊
Yes, Dave! Please make the video and PDF Cheat Sheet.
I've had a few people ask for it, so I'll get going on that.
Yes TOTALLY PLEASE MAKE THE PDF CHORD SHEET,I NEED IT DESPERATELY
Working on it, but it's taking a bit to figure out how I want to lay things out.
That Paisley Telecaster is awesome! Love playing mine, and the weight is almost nonexistent. 😂 Plus it just sounds good.
@@BrianLeverett for real! The first time I picked it up I was like “wait, what?!? Where’s the guitar?”. And I like the sparkle road worn look. Did you keep your stock or swap pickups?
@ I still have the stock pickups in it. I typically use just the neck or the bridge, switching between them as needed. The middle position is a very pronounced out of phase sound that I rarely use.
@ right on. I got mine used so I don’t know for sure if the pickups are stock but the neck feels a little weak compared to the bridge which feels great. I will probably try a new set pretty soon.
that cheat sheets will be super helpful. so yes please
@@stanleychengchen I should have some time to work on that very soon! Thanks for letting me know!
Great video. What guitar is that? Brad Paisley Signature?
Yes it is! Great eye! I just swapped the pick guard to make it a little less Brad. :)
Yes, absolutely make the video.
I'll be working on that very soon! Thanks!
Ok, what about if your leading worship solo and play rythm electric?
And what are " Diamond"?
@@cassandrahuskey8866 great question! That maybe a exception to the rule. (Not that it’s a rule, just my opinion)
However if you’re the only guitar on stage your dynamics become even more important, if you’re just strumming away the whole song, it won’t have as much dynamics. I would try to use some of those other alternatives to strumming first and use a big section as your time to strum more like an acoustic.
Also, a “diamond” is a term I picked up in Nashville referring to 1 down strum per chord change.
Thanks for the comment!
Please make the sheet.
Working on that very soon! Thanks for the comment!
Capo video yes
It is in progress now! :)
make the pdf
Will do!
B sharp is a... C. Lol.
Lol Glad to see someone was paying attention! lol Thanks for watching!
who wouldnt use the cheat sheet????
@Tennessee_Angling lol noted! I should have that video and sheet hopefully very soon
Yes I would use the PDF with all the chords and shapes. Really all of this only helps what I hear. Because I play in a church where the sound guy admitred yesterday that electric guitars are muted. Makes me so mad.
@@tombrackettjr.9308 bummer! If I were you, I’d try to have an open handed conversation about what needs to change for the electrics to be part of the mix. Try not to be upset or offended, I’m sure he’s just trying to do what’s best for your church. Take his input and do what’s you can to improve things, even working together with other electric players to set up your audio engineers for a win. I’ll pray that things go well with your team and that you all get to use your gifts to glorify God! Thanks for the comment!
I should have that pdf here in the next few weeks.
