Hey KaiJoy huge thank you for all the info given in your videos . myself and all my crewmates have benefitted hugely from your pearls of wisdom, im almost half way to gold skele now at lvl 428 servant and your tips helped get me there, really thank you. we started a tiny discord and in honour of BSG we decided to go with "red sail piracy" as a crew name. Hope to see/fight you on the seas some day...we will lose but it would be an honour ;)
Great tutorials, man. I've been learning a lot from them, but so far, maybe I missed it, I haven't seen much information on when to send your flex or MC to board, when taking over the helm role. What are the best times to initiate boarding? I assume when they have more than one person needing to bucket is an optimal moment, but what other scenarios are ideal to be sending in the troops? I'll rewatch your video on playing the helm in case it's in there, but any additional information would be great! I've had this game for almost a month now and I've already put in 300 hours, so I think I'm getting the hang of it. This game's an absolute blast and I thank you for your rock solid content. I know the video is over a year old now, but you did comment towards the end of the video that you do actually read all of the comments, so here's to hoping you can help define some situations where boarding is ideal. Thanks again!
In Galleon hourglass you should always send your flex (or MC) to go for a board when you have more people shooting than they do. So if you have your MC, Helm, and Flex up (3 people) and the enemy crew only had MC and Helm up (2 people) then you want to send your flex over to the other crew’s boat. The reason why is because if you send someone over, the other crew has to send 1 guy to watch you at all times. Meaning that they ONLY have 1 person shooting (their MC) And that 1 MC is not usually going to be able to put in enough lowerdeck holes that your bilge HAS to call someone down to help him. So look for when you have your flex up and 3 people shooting cannons, and the other crew only has 2 people shooting, and send someone over to their boat to push the advantage.
@@kaijoi8938 thanks a lot for your reply! A lot of my playing time has been spent solo, but I finally found a decent guild who said I was surprisingly good for having played for such a short time, but your videos are top-notch. I watched your helm guide again and it had some good examples that made me want to try a couple of things. In one of your videos you mention different strategies that people will try to use to board your boat and someone commented something about how there are only two real roles: the rammer and the boarder. So I laughed, because that's a terrible strategy, but a couple groups pulled that stunt on us earlier and one group actually did succeed in boarding and killing us. I wasn't sure what to do, but the video gave some good tips. I just had the idea in my head, though, as I was getting ready to lay down and I thought that, what if, while someone is attempting to ram you, you drop anchor and do a 90° anchor turn to try and make them miss, raise anchor again as fast as possible right when the anchor hits the floor, and angle your broadside back towards them. Wouldn't they have to drop their anchor, too, otherwise they risk blowing right by us and into our cannon angle? It was just an idea that popped into my head that might [be] a surprise and catch the other group off guard. Have you tried anything like this before? And thanks again for reading and responding! I've been benefitting greatly from your efforts! I've definitely subscribed and I'll keep an eye out for new videos. Edit for a typo. Second edit: it's actually this video that the aforementioned comment was posted to, haha.
Hey there. Solo sloop just getting into sea of theives. Always loved how the PVP looked but could never understand it. All your videos have been very helpful to me and i might get into playing scrims soon. Thanks!
Lol, this guy talking about not shooting the same spot on the ship and I'm just trying to hit the ship at all. xD I guess I'm going to be watching your other vids as well.
As for how to aim a player from cannons: Their trajectory is the same as the chainshot. The spot where the chainshot hits seems to be around where their head is (from testing I did last night actually). As a result, if you somehow manage to land a chainshot on top of their deck, if you shoot a player out plus a smidge up in the vertical direction, then the player's feet will touch somewhere near where the chainshot lands.
Tutorial for the best way to tank pls. I always try my best but i'm sure i'm missing something. I see many streamers what he's crew can survive for a very long time with 3 sails down and a lot of cannon preasure, when my team is on that position we lose 80% of the time and we know what we are doing. How can we come back the battle? What is my crew supposed to be doing? How can we stop the boarders? Is shrouded ghost real? Edit: Nice vids, since you make this advanced tutorials I started to win more battles, you are very helpful for the sea of thieves pvp community. Keep it up, much love KaiJoi.
Just started playing last night. We put the red reaper flag on ( I know- noob) and we were getting attacked by everyone 😂 we definitely have no idea what we’re doing but held our own in a few. Definitely sank ALOT last night. Thanks for the tips!
I hope that anyone that wants to learn how to pvp watches these videos. It doesn't matter if you're amazing at boarding or can hit any cannon shot. So long as all your crew are completely unorganized you will not win a single battle.
Could you do more with smaller ships? I think I speak for most by saying that I rarely ever play on galleons. Or at least make a kind of “translation” section or separate video so that we know what to do on each ship type. Like maybe a video called “mastering the sloop” or something like that and going over all of the big points of these types of videos. If that makes sense. Great video by the way, I’ve watched all of these videos and I love them, they have truly transformed my thinking process and gameplay.
Good Job just like the other Guides You did. Waiting for the Bilge/ Boarding Vid Two Questions: 1. If Helm is off does the Bilge call for Mc or Flex? 2. Where should Helm aim? In the Mc Vid you said Bilge lower, Flex lowers and Mc Tops but where should Helm aim?
I see Flex as a Center Mid in Soccer. Man has to be able to play the whole field not just Bilge (Goalie), Cannon (Striker), or Helm (Coach/Sweeper since they help Bilge (Goalie) mainly while also making calls.
Excellent video as always! I'm exited to see bilge next in line as that my role on the seas! If you like, you could use my povs as bilge on the scrims i post on my yt. They are not amassing but they are not terrible ether :)
Love the videos man! Got a few questions while I am here. -These role videos are great but as a main helm my biggest issue is how to give some the tldr run down on a random lfg server in an easy to understand way? -Out of curiosity why do you have flex go for lower, and MC for higher? MC is on cannons more so I would think they'd be doing lowers. Is it to make sure they are off cannons as much as possible? -Slightly unrelated but do you plan for any guides on how to fight smaller ships as Galleon?
Either a person knows how to play on an LFG or they don't. A good player won't need a TLDR case they just know what to do. And a bad player can't absorb all the information you give them / can't put it into practice. So you can give basic comms like: "if someone dies then I will resurrect them, you stay on cannons* Or something small like that. But if you're trying to teach them a role, then they're not going to be able to learn it in 10 minutes. You definitely could have MC hit lower decks. And in certain broadsides you can have everyone hitting tops or every hitting lowers. Especially in 1v1's, having your entire team spread lowers can 100% be better than hitting tops. However it's really up to you. It's just the way things are done just to make everyone's life easier, rather than needing to communicate who shoots what and such. But you can do whatever you want, but lowerdecks win games. So as long as SOMEONE is hitting lowers, you're good. How to fight smaller ships as a galleon? You're a bigger ship, just ram them. If you're opening up broad from max range as a galleon, *WHY ARE YOU DOING THAT?* You have 4 cannons and a sloop has 1. You have 3 masts and a sloop has 1. You have 4 people and a sloop has 2. You can tank SO MUCH more pressure than a smaller ship can. So just ram them if they keep playing distance and don't let you get close. You have all the advantages. You'll automatically win if you can prevent them from running away, just full nose them so that you can get close. (that's 1 way to fight them)
I quit the game because (arena obv but) all my teammates quit and when I go play with people and tell them that I'm the flex, they still fucking board every single time because no one understands the roles!
Honestly, your my favourite sot RUclipsr, and if I could give any advice, it would be to just make more content, you make so little that it’s difficult to get enough impressions to grow fast, maybe hire an editor or spend a bit less time on it editing it yourself.
This is normally a bad strategy to employ whenever you fight good crews. A good crew will pump you full of lowerdeck holes, so you want to have everyone reball belowdeck so that they can all take a courtesy bucket for the bilge. If you don't do this then you'll need to have your flex hold buckets for a good minute. Meaning that you have 1 less person topdeck for a long time. And a good crew will also just put those creates on top of your grate and make it impossible for you to bucket through the grate. This strategy can work against crews that aren't the best, but is not a good idea when fighting good teams.
@@kaijoi8938 then put the crate by map table so the timing is reduced but the benefit of having people run to bottom deck is still there, or if your comms are very good bilge should just call out when they need an extra bucket. I could also be completely wrong im a slooper
It’s up to you. However giving the courtesy bucket is way more powerful than the 4 seconds you’re saving by reballing from a crate topdeck. But you can do whatever strategy you want
I know "Just Aim Lower" in the obvious answer, but where exactly does the lower deck start in terms of hitbox for cannon balls on a galleon? Knowing is a lot better than just aiming as low as possible and just assuming you are hitting the lower deck, and can provide a lot more confidence in the status of the enemy vessel.
Where the decoration cannons are on a galleon. I have a visual representation in my Main cannon video near the end. But it’s directly under the decoration cannons on a galleon.
As a helm I do sometimes find it annoying whenever the flex asks if they can board. Half the times I end up agreeing 'cause boarding really excites them. We do mostly play for fun tho so it's usually no big deal Also if anyone of my crewmates happen to find this comment. You didn't hear it from me..
I think the idea of having having flex as main boarder is not necessarily the right way as they are needed most of the time. That's why I always send bilge to board first 🥶
I think it is not the smartest idea to send the bilge. You need three main things on the ship: one who steers it, one who shoots and one who keeps it alive. Flex is the support role here, doing the jobs which the others had to do if he didnt to assure they have as much time for their jobs. Still, when he goes out boarding, they can do the things he previously did. Through him boarding he applies pressure to the enemy and hie own crew can take their time for a quick mast raise or smth.
@@trollcrafterchen2297 bilge first boarder, helm is secondary boarder. Who needs a boat because you already ruin their mental if they know they died to classic helm board. Truly deviating
Depends on the situation. But usually on sloop it's up to helm to repair the mast and such. Unless you're peeling off of a broad and you're trying to run away, you usually don't want to triple repair the masts because you have better things to do like shooting cannons, sniping, or bailing the boat.
Put any further questions you had in the comments section and I'll gladly answer them.
You had such a thorough video I can't even think of a question. Amazing guide series, and thanks for giving us further prowess on the seas.

Love the guides, when do you plan on dropping guide (4/4) the bilge?!
Never. Watch this instead: ruclips.net/video/JqzQl_FhYzM/видео.html
Love your videos. Any updates on the upcoming Bilge guide?
I quit the game because (arena obv but) all my teammates quit and when I go play with people and tell them that I'm the flex, they still fucking board every single time because no one understands the roles!
Honestly, your my favourite sot RUclipsr, and if I could give any advice, it would be to just make more content, you make so little that it’s difficult to get enough impressions to grow fast, maybe hire an editor or spend a bit less time on it editing it yourself.
Always have a storage crate on top deck and get used to using it
This is normally a bad strategy to employ whenever you fight good crews.
We do mostly play for fun tho so it's usually no big deal
Also if anyone of my crewmates happen to find this comment. You didn't hear it from me..
man that was a lot of weeks
I mainly solo sloop, so I figure flex is most similar to that. I know it’s not exactly the same because it’s 1 person not 4.
Nice video, man, thx
Yo its that kaijoi guy! 😮
Are u going to do a video that explain boarding tricks like you said pixel board or funny board?
What do I do about a flex that boards way too much. Many times not even saying he will leave.
I can only chew him out so many times.
does BSG stand for Best Sailing Guides? because these are amazing
BSG stands for Blue Sail Gang
I feel so seen with my random reddit comment, lol. Just trying to spread your tips to build future legends.
Wheres the bilge role?!?

me patiently waiting for the bilge guide.
Take bucket and make water go away
Will you be doing a solo guide like these when your done with the gally roles?
How many planks should you put on mast for gally and brig I feel like it should be 2 but on sloop you should always have 3
Depends on the situation. But usually on sloop it's up to helm to repair the mast and such. Unless you're peeling off of a broad and you're trying to run away, you usually don't want to triple repair the masts because you have better things to do like shooting cannons, sniping, or bailing the boat.
❤
So the flex is just a solo sloop player. Just kinda does everything
Hello, can you do a main bucket role 4/4 please ? 🥺🙏
LOVE THE VIDS KEEP IT UP. I ALSO REALLY WANNA SEE THE BOARDING AGAINST GOOD CREWS VID
My Crew just doesnt listen to me xD they are my friends but they dont care about dedicated roles lol
