Love this Phuzzy! I sail almost exclusively on galleons, just cause i think the more the merrier, player interactions make the game fun. Since my dedicated crew is usually just me and my First mate, it's easy for us to fill the ship upkeep/navigation roles, so our switch out crew members are usually our sweats/free roaming crew. We usually fare fairly well as long as the semi-randoms are able to take basic instructions. Keep up the great work Phuzzy!
gotta say that fast forward speed ramping on the intro looked pretty slick phuzzy, also the overview at 2:42 is very clean. should use those more often to explain different strategies based on where the enemy moves. could really help new players understand ship manuevering :) another great video as always.
Incredibly helpful in establishing crew dynamic, as I always felt that the people I sailed with were practically hand-crafted for certain rolls. Also love the Minibond content! God bless that little man.

I had this happen to me yesterday! We were a lvl 3 reaper galley going against a lvl 5 reaper sloop and we chased them down. Everything was fine until we found ourself in the red waters and our anchor dropped out of nowhere. We didn't know what happened and then suddenly a tucker appeared and killed 3 of us leading to our ship being sunk. It was miraculous how we ended up in the red sea and they didn't. Excellent execution on their part.

If you want to get sweaty with galleons for ship on ship fighting you ideally need a dedicated helmsman/woman a compitent bilge, a flex who can do what ever job needs doing at the time be it cannons or fixing and the 4th guy will generally be a boarder/flex. Its easy to give these roles out to your crew but its harder to keep your cool and stick to them mid combat. Some pointers your helm will give you orders for offence and the bilge will give you orders with defence listening to these two will make the difference in a battle.
If you dont want to get sweaty with this just have fun with your friends
Yeah but playing with random peopl 90% of them are already in the water trying to board the enemy cuz they think thats the only pvp aspect while im trying to get 3 sails rotation and turning while bombarded by the enemy cannons.
Dedicated crews are rare.

I think you should make more videos like this one, explaining more about communication and crew roles on larger ships, since we can't find it anywhere else.
No matter what ship I’m on the moment one mast goes down everyone jumps off to try and board, 99% of the time missing ladders and merming back just to repeat the cycle of humiliation.

In the NAL there is something similar tot his in having a deckhand main cannon flex and helm one of which is the boarder depending on your team.

Playing a galleon with friends is great, because, by the end of things, everyone will know which of you is actually the leader of the friend group.
My team goes as follows:
Me: boarder/ cannons (depends on how many crew mates I have)
Buddy#1: boards alongside me or is on cannons beside me, or boards while i cannon, or he cannons while I board
Buddy#2:steers the ship and raises and lowers sails
Buddy#3: repairman
It’s rlly good because our repairman isn’t very good at the game, so because of that, they’re not tempted into boarding, meaning they are super dedicated to repairs, my captain(buddy#2) is rlly good at knowing how much time the ship has before anything happens, I.e. before we get to a ship, before a ship gets to us, or before someone boards, he’s always like “we are gonna reach them in 1 minute” and he’s usually correct
And me and my boarding buddy play on a sloop a lot so we probably are the best of our crew, in terms of swords and guns, my buddy runs sword blunderbuss, I run sword sniper, and so he rushes in while I support him from a slight distance, but I can run in with a sword if he needs it
Crazy efficient crew, only problem is our captain is kinda trigger happy, so sometimes he aborts the ship for a board and that’s when all hell breaks loose, but if he sticks to the wheel and sails, it all goes well
Our crew does cannoneer/boarder, repairmen and Captain
The only position set by one person is captain, people rotate to repair and board
When we board we spam fireball and lower anchor, then proceed to blast from range

Optimal crew: 1 helm/cannoneer/bilge/navigator/sail angler/anchor raiser/ladder guarder and 3 sweaty boarder spawn camping double gunners just the way I like it 😈

Basically my crew lol we usely atleast try to stick one guy on Bilge though lol
The real issue is your crew not taking it as seriously as they should, of course it’s a game and no one wants to be shouting down the mic like a drill sergeant but this method requires mature players in the first place to work

Apprentice-Whoever might be sailing with us
Boarder- Whoever is currently not needed

Ok, first off. Work on buying your own captaincy gallion. Now remember You own the ship, let them know you own the ship, establish that because you own the ship, you have the final say in how it operates to assert your self as captain. Just don’t be a d- about it.
Have bravado as captain. Simply owning the ship won’t get you the respect you need to keep people from getting board and doing their own thing. Sound like you know what you are doing and measure the strengths and weaknesses of you crew. That means, introverts, your going to have a hard time fulfilling this roll. Yes I’m calling you out. I would say fight me but that means you would have to go out side and meat new people.
I digress.
Remember every one is a gunner but establish the worst shot as the designated repair guy. Don’t force this on the person and in some cases don’t even tell them they are the repair guy. just remember to call their name for repairs during a fight and they won’t even consider their roll on the ship and just do it.
Well, it’s a good start at least. Good beginner’s guide, I’ll give you that.

My issue with anything that isnt a sloop is that you gotta start trusting people more and can fix the situation alone
No cap, OperaGX is greeeeeat, I've been using it for a couple of years, however I have heard they are doing some fishy shit with the collected information. I still use it because google does some, if not most of that too and it eats through half of my ram.

I did have a good m8 but turns out he just couldn't chill and had to sweat every second of a play session. I'm yet to find a good of a crew as I had a while back, we just clicked but it was a post crew so sadly I'm now crew less and sit on the outpost waiting for someone to come along

The big takeaway here is that there isn't a specific set of roles, it's whatever works and what matches your crew. You really only know who's role is who's after playing for a while.
Try that against an NAL, LBH or LoT crew
Not just watching for borders but more importantly listening for borders

Ah just as I feared, the best use of the Galleon is not using it at all lol. Our regular crew has grown into that of a Galleon but it is difficult because we all much prefer something more nimble like a sloop or brig. I am learning it is important not to fall into that game of cat and mouse with the Galleon as you have no way to keep up constant chase with it's lack of mobility and rather you want to try to use the other ships heading to help you line up where you need to be.

Just a little bit of information for anybody out there who may not know the driver of the ship is called the helmsman helmsman and Captain are two different things and more often than not the captain would be part of the boarding crew not staying on the ship
