You have just witnessed one of the greatest guitar player ever. Stevie Ray Vaughan born in suburbs of Dallas Texas was playing guitar at the age of 7 years old was influenced by legendary blues artists first and foremost his older brother Jimmy Vaughan who is a legend in his own right. Other artists include B.B. King, Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy, and a host of other legendary blues artists. Stevies talents were off the chain. They describe him as saying "he played like a man on fire." The world mourned the untimely death of Stevie Ray Vaughan, his musical talent and gift of expression through his music will live in our hearts forever. RIP Stevie.
I commented already, but I have to say, people that don't play guitar might miss out on this (as well as a lot here lol), but when he reaches over to tune his "hi E" string, he's doing that BEFORE he goes nuts bending that string 🤯... so he's anticipating the drop in tune that he's about to give it by bending the hell out of it, plus the little extra high notes he'll get by doing that early... Any players out there will get what I'm saying. That's f*n insane. I dont think I've ever seen anybody do that. Even Hendrix. 🤯🤘💙🤯
He didn't sound out of tune, I was wondering why he did that quick adjustment. Stevie can bend the hell out of a string. I play, I understand what your saying. Very good call, Zack, most excellent.
Nope, no way. No decent guitar player pre-tunes a string sharp, before bends, anticipating that it will drop. Especially a guitar player of his caliber. He has guitar techs and any number of manufacturers that would ensure he’s playing equipment that doesn’t have to be tricked like that.
Stevie Ray was so into it once he started playing I wonder if he even new there was anybody else in the room. I wish I could go to that place he goes to when he's tearing it up. It must be such a cool place.
I know I am responding a little late but you can.... Just pick the ol' flat top and just start running through a scale add a couple of blue notes and keep it going. No can't play like him but to get the vibe its in your heart and let it rip to your fingers man. Grab your favorite drink and just play like no tomorrow man. I do it all the time.
Def BUILT DIFFERENT! Funny you said that! Not only inside; He was 5'6 at most but is famous for having hands like a 6'1 or 6'2 guy! He played strings so thick virtually noone else could have bent them like he did! FREAK OF NATURE!!! MY MAN,SRV
Stevie wasn’t short - pretty average in height at 5’-9”. Check out the Hopkins biography - both volumes have images of documents like his booking card from when he was arrested in Houston, work visas, a Canadian fishing license, etc. All list him at 5’-9”. Afterward Stevie said, "not bad for a blind man!" Jeff replied, " Yeah, and I thought you would be taller!" LOL.
