This is Texas Blues. Extra distortion and ridiculous attitude. Stevie was the best of that particular genre. A true stud who was influenced mostly Albert King as a child but grew up in a new scene. I highly recommend his collab with Albert King live. Some of the best blues I've ever heard.

    Rock? Blues? Yes!
Stevie came onto the scene in 1983 when hair bands, synthesizers and parachute pants ruled the airwaves. Dude was so different that everyone in the music took notice. And I mean everyone.
His main influence was Albert King with Jimi a close second. He was also a disciple of Buddy Guy, Albert Collins, BB King, Freddie King, etc, etc. He loved all his elder blues heroes...and they loved him too. So much so that they mourned his death.
When Stevie hit the mainstream he told everyone to check out all his heroes and soon, those guys started selling records and playing in larger venues. Many of the elder bluesmen accredited Stevie for reviving blues, which in 1983, was an afterthought to the mainstream industry.
He was heavy into drugs and alcohol until late 1986 when he got clean and sober. He stayed that way until his death in 1990.
He had just finished a concert with Buddy Guy, Eric Clapton, Jimmie Vaughan, and Robert Cray when he left the venue on a helicopter. It was foggy and the pilot flew into a hillside, killing all aboard.
Thankfully we still have his music because dude was a guitar god sent from the Heavens. Stevie Rave On!

Im glad you did a reaction to this video because you witnessed the best guitar player that ever lived. He picked up where Jimi left off. Whats a trip is that Stevie and the best crooner that ever lived, Luther Vandross spent a lot of time in the beginning of their careers with a dude named David Bowie. God blesses us every 30 years or so with a single person that is heads and shoulders above everybody in their line of work, hence, Stevie Ray, Luther, Michael Jordan, Miles Davis, Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, Michael Jackson and list list is short but it goes on. Its just very sad that God usually calls the folks home early, Stevie at 35, Luther at 50, Michael jackson at 50, Miles at 61, etc.

Trying to separate Rock and Blues is like trying to separate Country and Western. All Rock is based in the blues.

Blues for sure, can rock it out sometimes, but he and his brother Jimmie were blues guys, they did a great album together as well. RIP Stevie, you are missed.

He's a Texas blues artist. It's a mix of rock and blues. But he has some videos where he is extremely bluesy

This performance here is out of this world...and the whole Mocambo concert is a monument in music history if u ask me...Stevie Ray Vaughan played straight out of his soul every time he picked up that guitar...and everyone who has a soul can feel that power vibe of emotions that comes flowing out of that poor strat...RIP Stevie Ray🎶❤️

Stevie played how he felt at the time. Watch him perform the same song from a different show and it'll be different but always good.

The El-Mocambo is bar in Toronto by the way. It is famous for having the best bands in just for a jam session. The Rolling Stones performed there back in 1977.

Eyes closed n away he goes!
Even if his heads down an seems like he might be looking at his fingers...he's normally got his eyes closed ....dont think he's showing off Stevie just did what came natural to him and transcends to another realm....ur reaction is quite normal lol
Yet he's not often even mentioned in a top 10 best ever guitarists!!!!!!
    The GOAT...RIP Stevie 🤟🏼💞

Dude is the GOAT. Jimi Hendrix was the Dr. J of electric guitar. SRV is the Michael Jordan. He just took it to a whole other level.

Brother. You are so appreciated for sharing this cut. Totally agree 100% that SRV is perhaps one of the best guitarists ever! Every time I watch his contribution to music it moves me. Really. Thank you so much for sharing and paying tribute to Stevie!

This performance has always been one I think is one of the greatest of all time. He is one with that guitar. Some kind of higher power taking over him. Raw talent? Just lots of practice? No. There's something else going on here. Something we can't explain or understand. But you can feel it. In your soul.

  • @agordon7369

He plays over his head, with his teeth, and backwards in front of him as well basically the guitar is in front but facing him. Checkout “little sister” I believe from capitol theater in Texas he has an amazing guitar switch after he breaks the string and you can’t even tell just by listening he had to switch guitars

SRV is the TRUTH. I was blessed to see him live in concert and it was an unbelievable experience. He is truly missed. I love Jimi Hendrix but SRV is the greatest guitarist I have had the pleasure of actually seeing in my lifetime.

Stevie Ray Vaughan is considered a blues rock artist, singer, song writer and record producer. Stevie said when he was 7 he heard a Muddy Water's record and knew right then and there he wanted to play the blues. He was in a class all his own, he was inducted into The Blues Hall Of Fame in 2000.
