In 1983, Stevie Ray Vaughan did a show in Canada called "In Session", with Albert King. Some of the many songs they do are good. They had known each other for years. So it is a jam session.

So excited for April’s SRV Highlights. If you can please do “Tin Pan Alley” live w/Johnny Copeland. It’s a masterpiece of a performance both vocally & w/guitar. THE GOAT
Yeah, if someone says they're not impressed with SRV:s singing, you HAVE to show them that version of Tin Pan Alley. It is UNBELIEVABLE!! He's got both the blues and the soul in that one. Exceptional stuff!
@@julienmarquet8612 it doesnt matter if some lyrics were forgotten or if was all correct. its a whole vibe and some amazing picking and singing by both.
SRV has the most natural flow of any guitarist ever. It flows out like water in of the stream for SRV. I saw him the first time at the Del Mar Fair in San Diego in 1983. It blew my mind, and I saw him 5 more times before his early passing. The last time was 1990 a month before his death, with Joe Cooker again in San Diego at the Sports Arena. I am so grateful I got to see him so many times during his short time.
When Stevie Ray first came on the scene, the blues genre was dying. Nobody was buying those records or listening to those musicians till Stevie Ray started playing the blues. By inviting the old time blues musicians on stage with him, they were able to rescue the genre and it gained an entirely new audience. Make sure you react to his compilations with the old blues stars, such as BB King, Johnny Copeland, Albert King just to name a few. He also played with Jeff Healey on a couple of songs. He wasn't an old blues star but another outstanding guitarist with some major handicaps he had to overcome. They say Stevie was the most kind hearted man.
The only thing I can think of as to why Stevie Ray's incredible talent is super uncanny is that right after his mother gave birth to him, his dad must have stuck a teeny guitar in his tiny hands and the rest is history. SRV was truly blessed with this gift. He was a natural! I love his entire get-up, his voice, nice hands, the way he held his guitar, but more importantly, I love his confidence. It's not the puffed-up kind but the humble kind. He's a super-hero and a musical genius, and a generous, humble man! With all due respect, I don't agree with the 9.7 rating, I give him a 10-star rating across the board! So sad he was taken so soon by that unfortunate helicopter accident.
Discovered your channel while RUclips surfing looking for some Stevie Ray tunes as a pick me up. Also Subscribed and bought a Stevie ray Tee. 😉 I discovered his music in 1989 in at a very small intimate LA club called The Strand. My friend and I went to see the Fabulous T-Birds and were sitting behind the soundboard at a high top table. At the high top next to us was guy dressed in black wearing a black plateau hat. Didn’t know who he was, but every so often he would get up and work the soundboard. Finally at the end Jimmy invited his “little brother” up on the stage and it turned out to be the guy sitting next to us all night, Stevie Ray Vaughan. I had not heard of him up until that point, (must’ve been living under a rock) He got up and played a few songs. He started with The House is a Rockin’. I was overwhelmed with his talent especially being so close to the stage, just a few ft away. The next day I went out and bought every CD I could get my hands on. Turned me on to blues from all generations. This live version of Texas Flood is a masterpiece.
@Over Sixty And Sassy Hello to you and first of all, what a great name you have. We hope you come back often and enjoy the channel. BPR
😆 I watched it yesterday! I love your senses of humor. And I also appreciate you giving some history for your viewers. Just watched, Life Without You. Another live masterpiece. Keep up the fun reactions. I’m going to start working my way through others. And yes, I am over 60 and very sassy. 😉
Well done on this one , Stevie inspired by his older brother Jimmie , also Albert King , BB , Jimi Hendrix , the list goes on ! The first time I heard the album Texas Flood ! I knew this was someone very special ! I was so upset on his passing , such a loss ! Eric Clapton's comments says it all 👍💯
I love these guys reaction to my childhood loves of classic amazing musicians. Here is my fave man..Stevie Ray. One of many Im looking forwards to listening again with you!..FAAACK THIS STEVIE YOU FIRST PLAYED..is getting laid music!!
I'll be watching for the April Stevie Ray Vaughan reactions. We can give tons of suggestions but I'm sure you both have an idea where you'd like to go with it. The songs from the Capitol Theater were excellent. "Ain't gone and given up on Love" is great. "Life Without You" is another. "Couldn't Stand the Weather" is also amazing. I could go on and on. Just like many of us who have loved SRV for decades. No matter where you go with this, you won't be disappointed. Other songs that highlight his skills are "Testify", Jimi Hendrix's "Little Wing" also from the El Mocambo concert, along with "Lenny" from the same show. Standards like "Pride and Joy" and "Crossfire" would be a must. The MTV "Unplugged" performance, the video of Stevie and his brother Jimmy doing "Pipeline" on a double neck guitar is a good one. Enjoy your April venture into all things SRV. I know I will.
I've known at least 10 guys from Texas that can play like that over the past 60 years....but nobody on the east and west coast likes to admit it. Rock and Roll was invented in Texas, baby...all the way back from big band of Glenn Miller to Buddy Holly and on up....like Johnny Winter. Southern Delta blues and Texas Rockabilly mixed and every pop, rock and blues band in the world have them to thank.
1:20pm PST Canada 's pride and joy COLIN JAMES toured with Stevie and Stevie gave Colin his start. Colin is still going strong...has 20 albums and numerous awards to his name. Give him a listen ... try VOODOO THING for starters. He is our Pride and Joy!!!
So happy that more people are discovering what a gem SRV is. I was in high school in the 80s and had heard of him but didn't pay attention. It was only LAST YEAR I discovered him and I'm rather obsessed!
I'm of the opinion that he was an open "Channel" that tapped into something truly magical thru the Guitar. Others like him were "Hendrix" "Albert Collins" and possibly "Jeff Beck" . There are guitarists who are able to tap into that open path" to something truly other worldly... When you get round to your SRV reviews, pls consider "Lenny" from the El Mocambo show, as well as "Third Stone From the Sun" from the same El Mocambo Show.. I had the pleasure of seeing him in person in 1985 @ the Tower Theatre in Philadelphia PA.. 2nd row .. changed my life .. RIP Stevie
The thing about SRV for me is i continue to feel that same excitement from the music year after year. Its Amazing. RIP Stevie, tell Jimi and Eddie we said hi!
Riviera Paradise. This is a soulful instrumental. After a full day of recording material for the album, Stevie asked his producer to leave the tape running and to turn down the lights.
You've heard his Voodoo Child from an Austin, Texas show. You might find it interesting to hear how completely differently he played it at every orher venue. He simply didn't play by rote. It was never the same canned piece that he knocked out nightly. And it was always played with the highest degree of deference to Jimi's original, but it was never a straight cover. I believe he played VC here, at this El Macambo show. Que it up beside the Austin show, or any of the others on YT and you'll see. They're all custom shaped, there are no pop-outs.
Great reaction guys. I saw him in and around the Detroit area including the same tour as this, at a place called Saint Andrews Hall. Play basically the same set, but he didn't play the songs the same, and that was one of the beauties of him was that you never heard the same version of a song Twice. There is a video from 1986 I believe from Daytona Beach that has the songs love-struck baby and rude mood same video and it was the first tour he did clean and sober after having real struggles with alcohol and drugs. A lot of people were worried, as was he, that he wouldn't be as good or creative without the substances that he was using. In fact, he was better, and in that performance The Joy on his face oh, you just know that this is a man who was happy to be alive and happy to still be able to do the thing you love most in the world. Stevie Ray Vaughan is my number one and always will be, I had the opportunity to see him live in a number of different settings, from small venues all the way up to full stadium events. I'm really glad you guys dig him, take care. Nice reaction
I saw an interview with his brother Jimmie where he was asked if it was true Stevie never played a song the same way twice, and Jimmie answered, “Hell, he never played it the same way once!”
There will never be another Stevie Ray. That tore up thrift store looking guitar he plays is actually the first guitar he ever owned. That's pretty amazing.
Got to see him playing my college (CW Post LIU) in the early 80s before he got too big for that sort of thing. Best show I have ever seen. The college auditorium was built for top quality sound. SRV was SRV. Small place. Just perfect.
This was 2 years before Stevie became sober, and according to Tommy Shannon (bass) SRV was in a cocaine induced coma an hour before this show. They had to have medical personnel revive him with IV fluids and vitamins, hence the more than usual notes and sweat that he usually has in this song. The all time greatest guitarist ever.
He does make little flubs here and there, but bends out of it. Clapton, BB, and Albert King all said that Stevie was a "direct channel" to the blues. A neverending catalog of phrases.
Truly a legend 🙌!!! He is my favorite guitar player by far! He can make one guitar sound like 3... his music just flows like a never ending stream of greatness!!
Stevie's brother Jimmie doesn't have the flash his younger brother possessed but, a fine blues guitarist in the traditional sense. Stevie often said Jimmie was his first and biggest influence. And other great bluesmen had respect for Jimmie as well. Stevie's sessions with his mentor Albert King are well worth a listen.
I know somebody's good when they can cause me to get chill bumps and with Stevie Ray it's non stop chill bumps from start to finish and as a guitar player that has played in a blue's band that won the AZ. State blue's band contest back in the 80's and went on to the international blue's contest in Memphis didn't win there unfortunately but I feel dose give me a sense of the blue's I've never heard anybody play the blue's like Stevie Ray before or sense I don't think anybody had a handle on the blue's better than Stevie Ray Vaughn Don't get me wrong I know there are some bad ass players out there but none with the feeling not quite.
Having seen Stevie Ray in concert I can tell you he gave an electrifying performance We were in the upper section, then somehow ended up on the floor directly in front. This was about a year before he died in the helicopter crash. You must watch his performance in Capital Theater , New Jersey, Life Without You. There are so many moments that can't be missed. He starts out with one guitar, but quickly switches to the white guitar his friend Charlie gave him. He wrote this song for Charlie after his friend passed away. He also stops in the middle of his performance to speak about inequality and keeping others down. Finally, at the end you will see him do something that causes him to lose a tooth. Watch as he says to his mate, I lost my tooth, then a second later he says it's gone. He does say Thank you Charlie after that. SRV was, is and will always be the GOAT ( Greatest Of All Time)
From what I understand the strings on his guitar were like bridge wires. I forget who it was that said he shook SRV'S hand and thought he might have broken it. He must have had insane hand strength.
Thanks, gentlemen. Highly enjoyable. Thanks for listening to your viewers. Thanks to all of Stevie's so cool fans for not dropping any spoilers about that behind-the-back-spin, because it's fun to watch the looks of disbelief. I'm now subbed w/the notifications bell lit, so i'll be tuning in more often - Wednesdays, especially. Thanks, above all, to Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble. SRV, RIP. 💙 💙 💙
You mentioned his freedom when he plays, you are spot on. He never played a song the same way twice. Each event was its own version. This set at El Macambo is considered one of the greatest live performances ever, though some songs played there, I prefer versions played elsewhere. He felt like fans deserved a unique show, not the same one over and over.
You might find many vocalists want the A/C off onstage because cold dry air is harsh to the throat. Hence the sweat. Warm and wet is better than cool and dry.
Watch all of the El Mocambo. It's unreal! It's so cool seeing someone see him go behind the back for the first time. He would also take off his hat and put it on the mic to go behind his head.
There are videos of SRV playing with Albert King, BB King; Eric Clapton Johnny Copeland, Buddy Guy; Robert Cray; Stevie Wonder and others...sometimes several greats on one song!!!! Looking forward to April!
Clapton once described Stevie Ray as an endless well from where music just flowed effortless

🤠🤠🤠🎸🎸🎸Men, this IS the blues
So excited for April’s SRV Highlights. If you can please do “Tin Pan Alley” live w/Johnny Copeland. It’s a masterpiece of a performance both vocally & w/guitar. THE GOAT
Yeah, if someone says they're not impressed with SRV:s singing, you HAVE to show them that version of Tin Pan Alley. It is UNBELIEVABLE!!
He's got both the blues and the soul in that one. Exceptional stuff!
Not the best version with Coppeland, who forgot the lyrics😂
@@julienmarquet8612 it doesnt matter if some lyrics were forgotten or if was all correct. its a whole vibe and some amazing picking and singing by both.
I moved to Texas in 1989 found his music and sadly two years after he was gone.
SRV will never be eclipsed. I Iove seeing the delight on your faces as you watch his performances, he was truly one of a kind.
@Over Sixty And Sassy
Hello to you and first of all, what a great name you have.
Thanks you for the great comment, it's always wonderful for us to hear first hand accounts of people meeting these great artists.
We have done quite a few Stevie Ray Vaughn and also one of Jimmy and can be found in our playlist.
We release new a new video everyday and go all over the place.
We released this SRV video on Monday: ruclips.net/video/OtN9dEhYWKg/видео.html
Finally, thank you also for the support and the Stevie Ray Tee purchase.
Eric Clapton's comments says it all 👍💯
His guitar is like a natural appendage to his body.
The greatest guitar player to every live. RIP SRV
Stevie Ray is like a storm rollin on through.
The great BB King once said that Stevie was the best he had ever seen.
And that gentlemen is why so many of us asked you to react to this. He was the GOAT.
Only concert people ever found themselves begging, pleading & shouting for a nursery rhyme. Yep, been there, done that. Miss you Stevie
Most people don't know he was Albert Kings godson.
Stevie was such an incredible guy. This is Texas Blues at its best. Pride and Joy is a really good one too.
Need to see his cover of Little Wing at this same venue, El Mocambo
You've heard his Voodoo Child from an Austin, Texas show. You might find it interesting to hear how completely differently he played it at every orher venue. He simply didn't play by rote. It was never the same canned piece that he knocked out nightly. And it was always played with the highest degree of deference to Jimi's original, but it was never a straight cover.
I believe he played VC here, at this El Macambo show. Que it up beside the Austin show, or any of the others on YT and you'll see. They're all custom shaped, there are no pop-outs.
“Little Sister” is awesome. Try that. This Texan loves more SRV
It was called Texas Blues
SRV is beyond great. Peace Gentlemen.
Great reaction. What a talent SRV was!
Got to see him playing my college (CW Post LIU) in the early 80s before he got too big for that sort of thing. Best show I have ever seen. The college auditorium was built for top quality sound. SRV was SRV. Small place. Just perfect.
🎸💯 That's those Texas blues y'all‼🔥
🤯 SRV called his guitar "The One"‼🐐
RIP Stevie Ray Vaughan. ❤ 🕊 🙏
Clapton once said that Stevie was an open channel and the music just flowed through him
Freedom. Yes. He practically never played a song the exact same way.
He knows guitar forwards and backwards....
The look on your faces was precious! Stevie Ray was the best ever ❤️
SRV was, is and will always be the GOAT ( Greatest Of All Time)
He plays guitar like we breathe air. Nicely put.
I was at his third from the last concert. So glad I was able to see him live.
SRV doesn't sweat, he oozes blues guitar. He plays blues from every single pore of his body
Watch bassist Tommy look at SRV, THE LOOK ON Stevie’s face is priceless when he realizes he is performing! Big smile.
Lovely! Thanks guys. Hope you enjoyed it!
You might find many vocalists want the A/C off onstage because cold dry air is harsh to the throat. Hence the sweat. Warm and wet is better than cool and dry.
I must have watched this video over 50 times. It never gets old! I love watching people seeing his tricks for the first time.
I got to see him in concert 3 times, he never played a song the same way!
This was recorded in 1983 at the El Mocambo on Spadina Ave. In Toronto, Canada.
Try jeff Healy as the years go passing by.... he's blind but plays like no other.... then do jeff and stevie - look at little sister
He’s just the GOAT OF GOATS! 😎🤠🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
no one better then or since He was the bext RIP Stevie Ray
SRV went back to Montreux 3 years later and was celebrated. It was a great show.
Watch all of the El Mocambo. It's unreal! It's so cool seeing someone see him go behind the back for the first time. He would also take off his hat and put it on the mic to go behind his head.
Suggest Couldn't Stand The Weather, Tightrope and Marry Had A Little Lamb.
There are videos of SRV playing with Albert King, BB King; Eric Clapton Johnny Copeland, Buddy Guy; Robert Cray; Stevie Wonder and others...sometimes several greats on one song!!!! Looking forward to April!
