Because by announcing open auditions, they've inspired thousands of amateur drummers to jump behind the kit and practice their ass off, with the dream, however slim, of maybe having a chance of joining the band. No amount of money can pay for great publicity like that! That announcement alone has turned my teenager from a casual Primus fan to a serious one overnight, got him practicing more, and likely broadened his musical horizons as he explored their discography beyond just the well known singles. Brian very well may end up stepping in permanently, after all, a sure thing is almost always better than an unknown (and he's earned the right), but the way they ended up handling the loss of their drummer may end up being a low-key brilliant marketing move, whether intentional or not.
I apologize if this sounds repetitive, but I genuinely believe that Tim is, and will always be, the finest drummer that Primus has ever had. His unique style and incredible skill have left an undeniable mark on the band's sound, influencing countless tracks and performances. There's just something about his rhythm and creativity that elevates Primus to another level.
If we are going tit for tat, technically Jay Lane was OG drummer. Who better to replace Herb than Brain? The Brown album was crazy good! The album was crazy underrated like stated above. How About Anti Pop!!!! Such an Amazing Album!! Metal Drummers are certainly more versatile.

Was front of Les! Caught the setlist for this night and gave it to my best friend while he surprised me with the uncut poster! It was my first Primus NYE and my second Claypool NYE! Thank you for such an amazing night!!
That’s the best American Life I’ve ever heard. I didn’t think that was possible. I mean the way Ler played it, the was Les played it, the way they all played it *together*
Was up in the balcony row F. We could barely hear the guitar and the overhead drum mics from our seats. Great show. Too bad everyone was asleep during the Limbomaniacs. Those guys are legends.
Maybe everyone was paralyzed by how bad the sound was. Sound during Limbo set was even worse than Brigade and Primus. Trio sound quality was better than brigade tho...
Long time fan of Brain and I wish he was willing to have another go with Primus. That being said, nobody seems to be mentioning Mr Baldi, and I think folks are heavily sleeping on him. He’s been touring with Les for quite a while already, and his chops are top notch. Paolo for Primus!
I was hoping they would invite Brain Back! Hell Yeah! I love Herb and Jay but he is a more versatile drummer. In my opinion, he is a metal style drummer which leads to better fills and more bass. Hope they keep him around as perm position this time. And Ps, please do beer chug while soloing again. I miss that 😂
@@-RandomBiz- I was crossing my fingers for Jayski to come back but that doesn’t look like it’s happening. Neither is Brain. So my vote is for that Rory dude from Lespecial. He’s got what it takes & then some.
Hahaha, I said in several comments about getting a new drummer...Brain is your man, no offense to all those trying out, but he's a unique and baaad man.
Why can't Brain play going forward? Dude is so good. Brown Album is criminally underrated.

Keep brain in Primus!!!

M'boy.
Just cancel the whole audition thing and give the job to Brain.
SERIOUSLY!!! just touring the brown album and making one new album with brain would be incredible.
Precisely!!!
That would be legendary I hope so!
Please...
But I don't think Brain wants to tour.
I know the drum tech and have said the same thing but sadly Brain doesn’t want to re-join. He was just willing to do these shows
I can't believe all the love for Brain in the comments. He has been my favorite drummer since Praxis and Limbomaniacs.
No auditions…. Primus with Brain 2025!
Brain for Primus! Brain for us all! This is what we need!
Best version of Shake hands with Beef I’ve ever heard live. Thanks for posting the show.
I didn't realize that solo could get even MORE cacophonic :D
Fisticuffs ❤
The tone is so crunchy
RESTIN BONES FOR THE SECOND TIME EVER AND FIRST TIME SINCE 1997 IS INSANE
We were there, sitting in the balcony. This was more of a Les Claypool on acid experiment. The experiment turned out great!
I'm insanely jealous 😂
Was front of Les! Caught the setlist for this night and gave it to my best friend while he surprised me with the uncut poster! It was my first Primus NYE and my second Claypool NYE! Thank you for such an amazing night!!
Holy shit Brain!! What an awesome surprise seeing him back for a show. He still sounds so tight on the sticks.
Thanks for recording this. I will watch this forever. I will never forget that experience being there!
I'm smiling so much.. it's borderline crying with joy .. watch this 😲😲😳😊
Restin' Bones was so damn good! I wish I could have seen them play it live. It was always on my bucket list and I never got it.
Thankyou from Australia great way to spend New years day eve watching this
I'm so happy I got to go to this, I'd really never heard much mackerel before and I'm very glad to have experienced them live!!
Brain !!! Glad to see him still playing
Fantastic show. Took my kid for his first Claypool experience. Did not disappoint.
Brain is by far my favorite Primus drummer
BRAIN!!!!! 🧠🥁🙌
Thank you so much for posting this! I'll make it out there some year for NYE!
Thank you for putting this online!!!
WHAT?! BRAIN NO WAY
It was a fantastic show with many b songs, and very few hits. It was awesome, and Les was really showing off.
That’s the best American Life I’ve ever heard. I didn’t think that was possible. I mean the way Ler played it, the was Les played it, the way they all played it *together*
Thank you so much for recording this!! ❤❤
thanks for this, i wanted to be there so bad!
this looks insane. so dope
Absolutely the BEST!!!! Had me teared up a few times ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🧨🎇🎆✨️🎈🎩🧨🎄✨️🎈🎈✌️😅❤❤
Amazing! That bass tone on Restin’ Bones was filthy.
Everybody excited for brain and I’m psyched to see MIRV!!!

Hell yeah thank you!
Muchas gracias, impresionantes shows y feliz 2025!!!
Les Claypool is my hero…thanks for sharing 🍻
Thank you for uploading this. I wantef to go.
@TJ Big Thank you!
Bryan mantia is back
Good god Man!
Brian Brain Mantia back❤
Awesome and epic. Sounded like all groups in one show -Frog Brigade, Holy Mackerel, and Brain with primus?🥁
Brain! 😎
BRAAAAIIIIINNNNN!!!!!!!
Epic!!!!

I bet Ler thought his days of learning Todd Huth guitar parts were over.
RESTIN BONES!!!
BRaIN!!!!!!
1:44:12 GO!
Brain for life ❤
BRAIN!
Hey they got Salad Fingers in the visuals! 🥗🤘
Brain was amazing. Get him back!
BRAINNNNN PLEASE STAY😭😭😭😭😭😭
I was hoping they would invite Brain Back! Hell Yeah! I love Herb and Jay but he is a more versatile drummer. In my opinion, he is a metal style drummer which leads to better fills and more bass. This totally sucks! Ill probably only watch about a million times 😍
Ya... Primus sucks 😞 lol
He was already in the band for an entire album and tour. Makes sense they'd bring him back
If you’re referring to Brain it’s more like 2 Full length albums, an E.P., a live video & countless tours.
@jolemite2639 whaaaaaatever he's back ain't he?
@@-RandomBiz- Yes he WAS. For this show at least. Much better than not at all.
Brain slays.
@@-RandomBiz- I was crossing my fingers for Jayski to come back but that doesn’t look like it’s happening. Neither is Brain. So my vote is for that Rory dude from Lespecial. He’s got what it takes & then some.
muse and primus on this channel ?? worth a sub now lol
Doug stanhope special and now this. Great night on hallucinogens today is
I liked the video before it came on
Agreed
𝕐𝔼𝕊!!🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐬🐬🐬
Hahaha, I said in several comments about getting a new drummer...Brain is your man, no offense to all those trying out, but he's a unique and baaad man.
What is Jay lane up to these days? Brain always been great drummer. Wonder wat buckethead is up to?
Buckethead touring just put out an album with cob
Jay Lane’s with Dead & Co & Bobby Weir.
Just keep Brain!!!!!!
What can I say but…
PRIMUS SUCKS!!!!❤❤❤
They never have the vocal tracks turned up enough... they're totally drowned out by the music.
Cause he uses that side mic he's always got attached to his main one..kinda wish he'd get rid of it to be honest.
I wholeheartedly agree, but that was the least of the sound problems that night...good lord.
Does anyone know what the video for 38 minutes in is from?
It looks like clips from the film 'Paint Your Wagon'
Brain needs to be to new Primus drummer... or re- Primus drummer 😅😂
Herb going on tour w geddy and Alex 2026
D's Dinner? Is this 2002 again?
welcome children, it's pudding time
Get brain back on primus again, please
SALAD FINGERS WTF????
No Wynona?
🫠🫠🫠
The lighting is so dark...too many blue lights...you can't really see very well, even with a good camera.
I thought there were no drummers
Yeah. Primus auditions aint cutt'n it.
Lets hear BRAIN play brown album & antipop...
Ain’t the same without Tim
Was there and underwhelmed. Stage was too dark and wanted more Primus.
I saw Primus in Sioux falls Earlier this year. Glad I saw them with herb. They still sound great. Primus sucks!
Primus sucks!!!!
Les son should not be stage production. Like the farewell to kings tour. It's like watching TV in black and black
Boo. Same show 2 nights in a row.
There were some repeats but they did play a bunch of different tunes the second night to mix it up.
BRAAAAAIIIIINNNNNN!!
