8:34 - A fiendishly difficult coda which Sudbin executes which such a prowess and flawless technique! wow!

He looks like the Movie-The Pianist-Actor Adrian Brody.
Nevertheless, Mr. Sudbin's rendition of this rarely performed work is truly stunning and breathtaking with deep understanding and multi-layered sonority, yet his lyrical section is so singing and beautiful that all the phrasings and rubatos are in such exquisite taste. What a memorable performance!

A breathtakingly awesome performance. The pianist has given wings to a Sonata that in lesser hands can sound ponderous. I have never heard it played better.

2:41 - One of the most touching theme composed by Medtner (From 'Canzona Matinta' op.39 no.4)

What a nice idea to switch the view from the window to fit the music... it allows to set a mood, while still showing the performer
(and very seamlessly edited as well, reflections and all)

Amazing! It's the closest I've ever heard to how I imagine it should be played.

Truly amazing, and now in 4k ! I've listened many times to Yevgeny's studio recording of this sonata, and it sounds even better to me here. I feel you've improved the sound image as well, unless youtube allows less compression of sound for 4k videos. Hope to hear more, thank you for your hard work.

Brilliant pianist he seems to sit very close to the keys. You would think that wouldn't help with freedom of elbow and arm movement etc but it obviously doesn't bother him

I really wish we could do without the person growling like crazy in the background its insanely distracting. Nonetheless the performance is transcendent

Neverward - You have to bear with the eccentricity of the performer, especially when it leads to a better expression of emotion. Gould sang the melody lines of the pieces when he was performing, and he played uniquely beautiful Bach interpretations!

unfortunately medtner's "forgotten melodies" tells a tale about himself and his refusal to marketing or promoting his Music...medtner have perhaps produced even more pieces than his friend and much more known rachmaninov. Rachmaninov tried his best to convince MEDTNER to try to play more concerts and make his Music more known, but MEDTNER DECLINED of various reasons...he DID not pursue popolarity and fame (HE WAS INCONSOLVEABLE LIKE PAI MEI)...ITS NOT A FAIR COMPARISON TO COMPARE MEDTNER WITH ALKAN ON A PERSONAL LEVEL, ALKAN WAS INFACT A KNOWN RECLUSIVE AND PERHAPS A MISANTHROPE, THAT WAS NOT THE CASE WITH MEDTNER, MEDTNER STRIVED ON OTHER LEVELS AND HAD HIS PORTION OF UNTIMELY AND UNFORTUNATE HAPPENINGS REGARDING FAMILY AND PERSONAL PRIVATE MATTERS....COMBINED WITH HIS RIGID MUSICAL AND IDEOLOGICAL POINT OF VIEW..HIS MUSIC FAILED TO BECOME AS KNOWN AS RACHM.
ANOTHER REASON FOR MEDTNERS MUSIC FALLEN INTO OBSCURITY LIKE ALKANS, LIES IN THE SEARINGLY DIFFICULT PIECES HE WROTE.....LIKE THIS SONATA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE LAST PAGES ARE JUST FRIGGIN TORRENTIAL.
ITS LIKE THE RUSSIAN EQUIVALENT (MEDTNER -RACHMANINOV) TO AS MENTIONED ALKAN - CHOPIN OR (LISZT!!!!).
EVEN TOUGH MEDTNERS MUSIC MOSTLY HAVE BEEN ,AS TITLE OF SONG SUGGEST ,FORGOTTEN MELODIES , ITS VERY NICE THT SUDBIN, HAMELIN AND HAMSIH MILNE HAS GIVEN SEVERAL RELEASES OF MEDTNERS VERY DEMANDING BUT LIKEWISE BEATIFUL MUSIC OF HIGHEST ROMANTIC ORDER! NUFF SAID
