      It means that music from the Romantic and Classicism era was influenced by Rameau so it's not like Rameau sounds like romanticism or classicism but the other way around.

    Rameau, ein Zeitgenosse Bachs, ist sicherlich einer der talentiertesten Musiker Frankreichs, Europas, der ganzen Welt. So witzig und pointiert dieses Stück, kaum zu glauben dass es schon im 17.Jahrhundert komponiert wurde. Genial interpretiert von Sokolov, dem man richtig den Spaß und den Schelm anmerkt, dieses Stück vor großer Kulisse vorzutragen.

      There's technically at least one wrong not in this interpretation so not flawless. And yes, i'm just doing that to annoy you. :p
      But Sokolov has such an impeccable phrasing, clear, nimble and so dynamic which really highlights the construction of the piece.

    I've listened to several recordings of this piece on RUclips and this is the only one where the performer doesn't rush---playing it this way, you can appreciate the music so much more than if you tear through it at breakneck speed. Congrats to Mr. Sokolov!

    Sokolov's Rameau is peerless, so precise, so full of life.
    When I hear other pianists play Rameau, I always return to Sokolov, and his playing never disappoints.

      In terms of pure skill I think there are probably more impressive bits but you're definitely right, it's a really really cool effect, many pianists probably couldn't pull off nearly that level of clarity were they to try it

      @@talavb9301 1 100% agree, in fact, that section is probably the easiest out of the whole piece. Those completely even, lightning-fast left-hand arpeggios, impeccable mordents and ornaments...just unfathomable levels of skill on display

    Je souhaite que Grigory Sokolov vive jusqu’à 110 ans ! Pour qu’il puisse encore quelques années tapoter sur des touches qui actionnent des marteaux de feutres qui se cognent contre des cordes de cuivre qui produisent des ondes sonores qui sont amplifiées par une table d’Harmonie et qui en se suivant produisent une mélodie divine qui dépasse l’entendement !     I have just gotten into listening a lot of piano music and this is a stunning level of skill. It is not that he is the fastest or didn't miss notes. His pace feels most natural. Some other pianists play this too fast and it has this uneasy, anxious feel to it.
    This feels so natural and smooth.

    Sokolov is like a fine wine. He gets better the more you hear him. I heard him play this in London but it washed over me. Now I appreciate it so much more. I believe Maestro to be a influenced by the great Marcelle Meyer, a peerless exponent of this music.

      Actually, if it's live broadcast is master control that switches between camera. If it's recording then it was the editor.
      Camera operator just makes sure what his camera is capturing is looking good.
      I think this was brilliantly playful.

      The video recording is directed by Bruno Monsaingeon, a giant figure in music films for producing documentaries/performances by Gould, Richter, Fischer-Dieskau and so on. For now he is virtually the only person allowed to work with Sokolov for video recording (which is amazing given that Sokolov is well known for his hatred towards any form of recording). Well, he does like dramatizing the performer's interpretation, but on proper context. If you check out Sokolov's Prokofiev 7th 3rd movement, again directed by Monsaingeon, the camera stays frozen throughout the music. He once said in an interview that he decided this was the most effective way to convey the tension.
