    I am surely not the only one who’s been inspired by this video. So many tasty grooves in here. Been focusing on Afro-Cuban and Brazilian rhythms lately on the drums and I am constantly referencing this video to see how it should be done. Thank you!

      I don't get why people say "Latin music." It's like saying "American music." There are hundreds of styles of music in the U.S., and there are probably just as many in Central and South America.
      This is Afro-Cuban drumming.
      Or "salsa" drumming.

    Thanks for the upload. Your video helps me to determine genres for jamming purposes. I had noticed that also there isn't a lengthy Bongo Bell pattern available on you tube for the reason. It would be good if there was longer sample to play along too.

    Really cool video! I'm practicing independence with claves on my feet for improvisation using the sincopation. Do you have a book where you learned all the rythms? I know most of the latin rythms by learning them in songs. You seem to be playing and improvising a little bit, I'll be using this video to practice more :)

      It's probably easiest if you focus on the rhumba clave. Once you identify the clave, you can see that his right foot only ever plays the traditional "tumbao" rhythm. And his hands just freestyle over the top of those two things.
      The guy's got skills.

      Yeah, sonor prolite kit, gavin harrison protean 12" snare, ride cymbal is a 22" crescent vintage, big crash is a meinl 20" extra dry crash, LP woodblock, cowbells, and a cascara wedge on the low tom (don't sell these anymore)

En mi humilde y microscópica opinión, son pocos los bateros de habla inglesa que poseen y transmiten aquel feeling intrínseco "que habita" por naturaleza en el alma de este estilo. Felicitaciones por tu evidente trabajo en la práctica e internalización de todo ésto y mis respetos y admiración por tener "el sabor" indispensable para estos ritmos, sin él cual, la técnica necesaria y el tiempo para lograrla, no son más que un vocabulario que no logra transmitir tu mensaje ni que sea comprendido por nosotros de la manera que quisiste comunicarnoslo. 🙏👏.

      +Rhythm Boo Learned most of my stuff with a guy who learned it in the streets of Cuba, but Horacio El Negro's "Conversations in Clave" and Afro-Cuban Rhythms for drum set by Bob Wiener. Lastly, the most advanced book is by Ed Urbine "Essential Guide to Afro-Cuban Percussion"
