If my understanding is correct, the flange distance from the Z mount gathers more light because it's at 16mm, compared to L, RF, and F mounts are ranged around 20mm. Thats why when the ISO are compared, Nikon tends to be brighter. And hence why they can also create wider aperture range like the f/0.95 58mm Nikkor

Both use the same base sensor (Sony IMX410) so this is really a comparison of everything else- AF layout, processing, build, ergonomics, features etc etc. Which is almost more interesting to me, since it seems that nowadays many comparisons get bogged down in the minutae of image quality (which is so incredibly high across all modern cameras) differences, at the expense of those other factors.

If you plan on doing a lot of hybrid video shooting, the Panasonic wins hands down. And for $200 more you can have the IIx which will record direct to SSD. For straight stills, I suspect that the Nikon with the CFExpress card can clear its buffer much more quickly than the Lumix if you record only to the one slot. Lenses? Tough call. If you want to shoot extra long, then go Nikon. For hybrid video? Maybe L-mount (especially the Sigma lineup) offers better value, though the Nikon 85mm f1.2 and 50mm f1.2 are best in class if money is no object.

Since they are so close, for me it comes down to lens selections, at the focal ranges I use most. With Sigma, some are available on both system, but Tamron only covers the Z? For manual video lenses, I think the L-mount has more native choices, but then maybe you should just go with a S5 and same a lot of money.

for me, the biggest advantage s5ii has is the ability to grade videos and photos in camera and be done with it. no fussing around in premiere and spending time on grading. yes, it's not reversable, but it's so convenient. very interested in s5ii lately.
i don't quite expect any other brand that has good video af and tracking (so, not fuji or olympus) to implement that too any soon, and i suspect panasonic will be the first (if they will do it) to do dual video recording, as to keep both log and graded-in-camera files, alongside.
and yes, that bing is too loud, as it has also been pointed out before in a previous video..

Hello, I still have 4 colors for video and photo recordings with the Panasonic Lumix S5II
Unfortunately, Panasonic could not give me an answer, and I didn't find any answers in the manual either.
1: Slow motion recording is only possible with MOV? can't you record slow motion with MP4?
2: Is it possible to record with normal settings (without S&Q mode) with 100, 120, 180 FPS and slow down when editing slow motion?
If you record on S&Q then you only have slow movement without sound, but can't you record normally with sound but at high FPS e.g. 100, 120 fps? (possible with other cameras like Sony!
3: S5II has 5 different types of shutters, I read in the manual (399) which ones are more precise and accurate than the others? what is different?
4: where can I find the picture account roll? That is, after the picture is taken, the picture appears on the display without pressing any button for 2 (or more) seconds to check.
    Thank you very much

The Nikon Z6 ii has dropped to 1499 euros! What do you think? Is it worth it? Taking into account that a camera is going to accompany us for at least the next decade while Panasonic S5II with the L mount is out there at 2.200 euros body, and Sony A7 IV at 2700 euros? The L mount has few so few lenses and the taxes are devastating. But the price for the same quality is comperable to E mount.. at least in Europe. So what do you think? Nikon Z6ii at 1500 for the next decade or it is NOT that future proof ???

@@TheSlantedLens I don't think so. If you want to profit with all the good things of a new camera, you have to use native lenses without using an adapter. Cause AF is not as fast as it could, and not so good as it could with adapted lenses. That's why people buy native lenses later. Mostly one year later after they have bought the body. Have this in mind, you will buy native lenses no matter in which you are already invested in. And use Cashback Activities from manufacturer to save money!

I chose Nikon because I like the body more but more importantly, the lens choice is much better for Nikon. It was even an easier choice for me because I have 6 Sony lenses, which all work well on Nikon with an adapter.

When we describe differences in brightness as "over-exposure" or "under-exposure", that's a form of attribution. And often not valid. The root problem is that ISO never defined correct exposure with the ISO sensitivity range and corresponding exposure values.
That also was the case in the film days, but every manufacturer adhered to Kodak's de facto standard and world domination.
Today Kodak has no role any longer and when we compare cameras, we must take this into account.
The best approach is to shoot a Sekonic "target" with both cameras and run the shots through their software.
This will give you two things: (1) ISO & Correct exposure according to Sekonic, (2) your camera's contrast envelope (the dynamic range available in one shot - what testers like DxOMark call "dynamic range is actually the operating range in light level differences).
In a comparison like this here, this would mean the results from this calibration inform you about what exposure correction to set when you set both at, say, ISO 100. Or else, you place exposure with one of the cameras in the wrong place in its contrast envelope and make it look worse.
In a way the ISO freedom could justify a camera manufacturer to treat a new camera differently than they always did, e.g. when they developed a new way of metering. So, we cannot even assume that ISO v exposure has the same meaning with all, say Nikon, models (firmware versions).

    • @jpdj2715
      @jpdj2715 Год назад +1

Another "deeper" problem in comparing exposure is that you tend to abstract the T-stop of the respective lenses away. You may remember that DxOMark reported a T-stop of 1.5 for the 1.4G primes of one brand and also reported a T-stop of 1.5 for the 1.2L primes of another brand. Ignore that in comparisons and you draw the wrong conclusions
