  • While I was filming this guy stood out to me as the fastest rider. So I walked around to the different obstacles and filmed him going through on different runs. He takes a little spill on one of them, but I will be surprised if he doesn't come away the overall winner of the competition.

    Serious respect for those guys. I wish I could ride that well.
    They must be amongst the few riders in the world who wear out a tyre in its entirety..
    That display positively transfixed me.. Wow!

    Having an ST1300 myself, I am both happy and sad about this video. Happy part is that I still haven't touched the limits of this bike, not by a long shot. The sad part is, seeing this guy rip, is that I am nowhere near his low speed riding skills lol :(

    Kyle has always been a "Go Hard or Go Home" kind of rider. Ive to Namoa competitions with him were he cleaned house, but Ive also seen him go down hard . We used to do a training session with civilians called "chills and Thrills" Kyle rode a borrowed GSXR and was awesome. Like someone else said earlier, its all technique and practice. RIDE SAFE !!

    @Wasakracker155 - a few years ago i remember seeing our motor guys doing this stuff and thinking there was NO WAY i would be able to do it. By the time i was done with the motor academy, i was able to pass the patterns enough to make the unit. 2 yrs later I am on the competion team and doinfg pretty good. I just wanted tell people not to discredit themselves if they feel they couldnt do this. The old saying really applies to this skil...."practice practice practice"

    I've ridden my dad's St1300, and I sure as hell wouldn't throw it around like that, but I was amazed at how stable and smooth it was, very even low rev power delivery, and not as top heavy as you'd think. I would never do this on my VFR!

  • @jimbo80982

    @halfthrottle its the steering on those bikes , r1s are made for leaning , my dads got an r6 and it can turn about 25 degrees from straight (im guessing) ive got an nx and you can pretty much do what those guys are doing there with it :)

  • @halfthrottle
    @halfthrottle  13 лет назад +1

    @gwiggy468 I can verify this is Sgt. Christensen from Boise. He was defiantly a favorite to win this event, but if I recall correctly he hit a cone or something in his final run. Any of us who were watching could tell he was easily the fastest. Which is why I followed him around to the different obstacles during his practice runs to make this video.

    The rider in question is Sgt. Kyle Christensen of the Boise City Police Dept in Boise Idaho. He is in charge of the motor team of which I was a member but have now gone back to patrol. He is by far and away the best rider I have seen on a police motor regardless of size. He has about 8 years of experience Our unit typically rides the BMW 1300rtp but had two Honda St's These motors are carbon copies of civilian bikes but with about 100lbs of extra equip. 135mph chipped top speed.

  • @MrSlowestD16
    @MrSlowestD16 13 лет назад

    @halfthrottle It depends on the bike, really. It's pretty easy to throw around a 250cc ninja, IMO, but the weight feels a bit higher on sport bikes (probably to improve stability at high speeds), def. not as easy as the cc's get up there (on sport bikes, anyway).

  • @MrSlowestD16
    @MrSlowestD16 13 лет назад

    @halfthrottle lolz - yeah. Good thing i got my license through the MSF, I never would have been able to do the U turns/figure 8's on my first bike (GSX 750). Never-the-less, love both of them, gonna shed a tear when I sell the Kat come spring :'(. The R1 put a hole in my pocket, though :-\.

  • @shmoopify

    Riding like this is accomplished by 1. Riding the same bike everyday for a living. 2. high level training to make sure you dont lose the skill. ALL of you (for the most part) are capable of this kind of riding. But honestly, how many of you will ever ride 40hrs a week, year after year and consistantly train in these types of patterns? Before I did it, theres no way i could have ridden like this.

    @tdsviper No a Harley won't out handle a Japanese bike. In these competitions the Harley's are in a completely separate category than the BMW's and Honda's because they handle so much better. It wouldn't be fair for the Harley riders to compete against the foreign bikes, they just don't stand a chance, and these races are all about handling in tight turns.

    I don't think its a question about falling behind. It's a question about costs.
    The japanese bikes are simply less expensive then Harley's. That is if you take the same extra's on both bikes. If the police had money to buy the bigbore bikes. Then there is no need for the japanese ones.
    A BigBore HD will outrun a japanese "touring bike" any day of the week.
    Maybe not in top speed, but in 0~60 times and handling.

  • @tractorkingc
    @tractorkingc 12 лет назад

    Et all: a lot of leo's prefer hondas or the old kawasakis due to the laid back and more comfortable riding position..
    However, in regards to HD you may as well ride a '67 Triumph Bonneville if your gonna ride the Harley.
    HT and I think most agree that no american made motorcycle currently outperforms foreign made machines.
    The race results from all the various types and classes prove this, although I have to give some credit to HD for flat track.

    @Imnomensa "these guys practice for hours while we pay for the damage"
    We pay for the damage to cars when the practice. Let's let them practice and get good at what they do. Paying for practice is better than paying for their damage on the road and a lifetime of disability from injuries.
