- While I was filming this guy stood out to me as the fastest rider. So I walked around to the different obstacles and filmed him going through on different runs. He takes a little spill on one of them, but I will be surprised if he doesn't come away the overall winner of the competition.

Serious respect for those guys. I wish I could ride that well.
They must be amongst the few riders in the world who wear out a tyre in its entirety..
That display positively transfixed me.. Wow!
Damn, that's smooth. He looks like he's been doing that all his life.
R.E.S.P.E.C.T. It reminded me of a cowboy riding his quarter-horse watching these guys.
Thanks for posting. That course looks like a lot of key holes. Looks like FUN!
SO MANY CONES WHERE THE FUCK AM I GOING!!!
that riding is damn impressive :O i'd be smacking cones down all the time XD
Having an ST1300 myself, I am both happy and sad about this video. Happy part is that I still haven't touched the limits of this bike, not by a long shot. The sad part is, seeing this guy rip, is that I am nowhere near his low speed riding skills lol :(
Errgh. Crazy cop skillz....The ST1300 is a truly incredible motor too.
Yow! Great motivation for practicing! Graceful, in control smooth enjoyable riding.
those are some really good skills man..respect
DAMN BIKE COPS ARE SO SNEAKY ON THE ROAD..
amazing skills, and for a great cause, thx for sharing.
Awesome skill bro, I'm jealous
Lets see a Hardley do that! They would need a Mechanic on duty if the Hardley was trying also.
Ooohh wow .. AMAZING 👍
Walau pun ada yg sangkut.. 😅
Anyway mmg terbaik 👍
CONGRATULATIONS PDRM ( MOTORBIKES TRAFFIC, YOU’ RE THE BEST 👍
Holy crap that guy is good. It is ridiculous how effortlessly he throws around that big bike. It's all about the clutch and throttle control.
I had to ride one of these to the garage the other day and was commenting on how it was like riding a boat.. I am now totally humbled :P
This is literally art
Pretty cool! Good riding!
the whistling sound of that Honda makes any rider deaf.
Kyle has always been a "Go Hard or Go Home" kind of rider. Ive to Namoa competitions with him were he cleaned house, but Ive also seen him go down hard . We used to do a training session with civilians called "chills and Thrills" Kyle rode a borrowed GSXR and was awesome. Like someone else said earlier, its all technique and practice. RIDE SAFE !!
brilliant riding
Nice turning with such a big bike, anything engineered from Japan is the best!!!
Holy crap i have never seen such a big bike handle like that!
The clutch's friction zone, very important, and very noticeable in the video.
omg, superb riding skills!!!
that is amazing... O_O he makes the ST1300 look like the honda cub.
@Wasakracker155 - a few years ago i remember seeing our motor guys doing this stuff and thinking there was NO WAY i would be able to do it. By the time i was done with the motor academy, i was able to pass the patterns enough to make the unit. 2 yrs later I am on the competion team and doinfg pretty good. I just wanted tell people not to discredit themselves if they feel they couldnt do this. The old saying really applies to this skil...."practice practice practice"
@halfthrottle
I've ridden my dad's St1300, and I sure as hell wouldn't throw it around like that, but I was amazed at how stable and smooth it was, very even low rev power delivery, and not as top heavy as you'd think. I would never do this on my VFR!
@halfthrottle - You gave me a good chuckle when I read that. Thanks!
there goes the clutch!!
The clutches are fine, and cool. The rpms are kept down while working the grey area of the clutch.
Tell me you don’t know how to ride without telling me you don’t know how to ride
That's an awesome skill, cool.
I"m a motor cop in the Bay Area Ca. I ride an ST1300 and consider myself a decent rider. The quickest motor cop I have ever seen is Quinn Redeker from Pasadena PD. Search him here on youtube and you see a few of his runs. His counter balancing is crazy!
great skillz, respect
They make it look easy, I'm nowhere near that level, I can tell
you one thing though, it takes a whole bunch of the slow speed specific
muscles to push these bikes around like that, something
that you work up to.
It's like watching motorcycles in captivity.
Though the Pan ST it's a heavy bike is amazing how stable at low speed she is and unstable at high speed as well, mine at least. Beautiful police riding skills anyway.
skill isnt in riding the bike ,,, its being able to sort out where the track is in all those cones ,,, well done that man
I got lost in the first 8 seconds. :)
@herChris there is a method called counter steering which helps, if you have a bike push the bars left and the bike turns right
@halfthrottle its the steering on those bikes , r1s are made for leaning , my dads got an r6 and it can turn about 25 degrees from straight (im guessing) ive got an nx and you can pretty much do what those guys are doing there with it :)
I love my ST1300. I wouldn't give it up for the world.
Does he rides the bike on first gear or alternate between first and second?
@gwiggy468 I can verify this is Sgt. Christensen from Boise. He was defiantly a favorite to win this event, but if I recall correctly he hit a cone or something in his final run. Any of us who were watching could tell he was easily the fastest. Which is why I followed him around to the different obstacles during his practice runs to make this video.
@halfthrottle how nice would it be to go to the cop shop for a morning competitive skills run, a day of tutoring by the bike cops and another run to see your improvements?! In my eyes that would make for a much happier biking community!
@tdsviper
Most police departments get Harley's at a significant discount. Complementary service is also frequently included for the fleet cycles.
bloody hell! these guys are fairly good!!
we are in trouble now!!
wow!!! good rider!!
seriously not getting away from him!!!
I would be flat out trying to do that course on a bmx.
was riding behind one of these guys in the rain once who did a high speed u turn never touching his brakes absolutely amazing riders, they pitch those things over like they are on a sport bike..
It IS a sport bike..sorta. . Sport touring bike. I have out riden sport bikes on curvy roads on my ST. , 2-up!
they make it look so easy
what year was this? I dont remember an st1300 there. BMWs and Harley tractors but no one at this guys level.
No doubt... This rider has the skills!!!
Respect :D
that is some skill o.o if you can do that with that bike, you can then do anything on any bikes .... awesome police ....
Apart from the fall, he was pretty damn good lol
@halfthrottle oh really? that's awesome! thanks for the info!
yeah extreme riding, these guys rocks !
@skullgymequipment Can't remember his name, think he was from Idaho. Christensen maybe?
I would love to ride like this , how much training was involved
This took place in Lindon, Utah.
@HaziqBoo How many of these bikes does Malaysia have, maybe 6? The rest of the bike units are old bikes that were discontinued in the late 80's or late 90's. Did you really think Malaysia would spend the money to send a bike to compete in the U.S.
@gwiggy468 I would love an event where civilians could compete against officers. I wanted to try this course out desperately on my R1200GS.
Amazing...That's rider, he can control the bike. What do u think his hight? I love the ST but i'm 5.4'. I'm affraid that i can't haddle the bike.
The rider in question is Sgt. Kyle Christensen of the Boise City Police Dept in Boise Idaho. He is in charge of the motor team of which I was a member but have now gone back to patrol. He is by far and away the best rider I have seen on a police motor regardless of size. He has about 8 years of experience Our unit typically rides the BMW 1300rtp but had two Honda St's These motors are carbon copies of civilian bikes but with about 100lbs of extra equip. 135mph chipped top speed.
I would need 3 Lane to do U-turn on this thing
10 lanes wouldn't be enough for me to do a U turn, why am I riding a motorcycle in the first place
You think he's carrying a gun just incase he wants to shoot the other competitor?
@halfthrottle It depends on the bike, really. It's pretty easy to throw around a 250cc ninja, IMO, but the weight feels a bit higher on sport bikes (probably to improve stability at high speeds), def. not as easy as the cc's get up there (on sport bikes, anyway).
@halfthrottle lolz - yeah. Good thing i got my license through the MSF, I never would have been able to do the U turns/figure 8's on my first bike (GSX 750). Never-the-less, love both of them, gonna shed a tear when I sell the Kat come spring :'(. The R1 put a hole in my pocket, though :-\.
Riding like this is accomplished by 1. Riding the same bike everyday for a living. 2. high level training to make sure you dont lose the skill. ALL of you (for the most part) are capable of this kind of riding. But honestly, how many of you will ever ride 40hrs a week, year after year and consistantly train in these types of patterns? Before I did it, theres no way i could have ridden like this.
@Nelso90
Why not? There are vids of Japanese cops doing it on their VFRs...
@HaziqBoo Good guess, but he's from Idaho.
Those R1200 Look good in white
Wow that's some pretty mad riding skills. I wish I was that good.
He dropped it! 😏
I think I have watched this one about a thousand times and enjoy it every time. I haven't quite figured out what touched on the bike to put him down. The cone might have been the culprit or maybe a foot touched. Any idea what it was?
He bit a cone.
WOW These manoeuvres are really hard to DO!!!!!
i'd love to learn thois type of control
all this motorcycle bickering, I'm about to flame the tail-light cop guaranteeing you a ticket! lololololol
Bravo 👍
Idaho? So this is not Quinn Redeker?
I wonder if the police version is not limited to 140mph
no chicken strips there!
@NeloGSX Really fucking impressive. Im a new rider. Only had a bike for about a month and Ill be damn happy when I can move my 400 like that at a 1/3rd that speed.
halfthrottle, are you telling me that each officer brought their own personal motorcycles with personally supplied fuel, clutches, tires, etc? I can actually see some personal bikes in the background. But I've attended several of these rodeos and I don't any motor officer that pays for any of these costs.
they can defently handle those 1300.s for sure
Making it look easy.
Malaysian police pants has two white lines on each side, top to bottom. Trust me, I have a lot on run ins with them :)
I think the rear tire broke traction. I don't hear/see any hard parts touch ground before he drops it.
That is control...
@tdsviper No a Harley won't out handle a Japanese bike. In these competitions the Harley's are in a completely separate category than the BMW's and Honda's because they handle so much better. It wouldn't be fair for the Harley riders to compete against the foreign bikes, they just don't stand a chance, and these races are all about handling in tight turns.
about time the police got something thats modern
@tdsviper ... i'm not sure then it just a question of money , the st1300 end the bmw are much more easy to drive at low and go more faster then the harley
Countersteering gone mad! :))
This isn't counter steering.
they have some skills they should go on a 1000 gixxer of course :D
they have more than 300. The new one. In KL-Selangor alone more than 100.
@halfthrottle
I don't think its a question about falling behind. It's a question about costs.
The japanese bikes are simply less expensive then Harley's. That is if you take the same extra's on both bikes. If the police had money to buy the bigbore bikes. Then there is no need for the japanese ones.
A BigBore HD will outrun a japanese "touring bike" any day of the week.
Maybe not in top speed, but in 0~60 times and handling.
Et all: a lot of leo's prefer hondas or the old kawasakis due to the laid back and more comfortable riding position..
However, in regards to HD you may as well ride a '67 Triumph Bonneville if your gonna ride the Harley.
HT and I think most agree that no american made motorcycle currently outperforms foreign made machines.
The race results from all the various types and classes prove this, although I have to give some credit to HD for flat track.
Thought american patrol just use harley. Does this new patrol bike?
@Imnomensa "these guys practice for hours while we pay for the damage"
We pay for the damage to cars when the practice. Let's let them practice and get good at what they do. Paying for practice is better than paying for their damage on the road and a lifetime of disability from injuries.
