Great video there! Been watching you for awhile now, and really enjoy your work you put in with fitness and all. I'm a U.S.Army (Airborne Infantryman) veteran who served in the mid 80s. I'm 56, a year younger than your Pop. I've always have been involved in fitness going all the way back to school playing football and baseball. I'm still in good shape for my age too, but VERY impressed with your Pop and his fitness for 57 years old, that's awesome. Been awhile that I've "timed" myself with a one mile run, best before was around the 6:35 second mark. I will definitely give it a try and see where I'm at now though, kudos to your Pop though, and keep them videos coming!!

The dude on the left is a great runner for his mass. Your dad is in stellar shape as well. I can't run like your dad in my mid 30s, but I'm an ex smoker as of last year, ex carb addict as of 6mo ago and a runner as of 3mo ago. I now eat nothing unhealthy ever and exercise daily. I've never been able to run a mile straight. I was always lazy. Now I'm shooting for longevity and perfect heart health. My resting HR went from mid 80s to mid 50s. BP 110/65. So far I'm up to a half mile at a 6 min pace. It takes time, but you can always get healthier at any time. I find 5 to 6 am to be a good time to enjoy exercise. It sets the stage for the rest of the day.

I ran 5:15 at 47. I had been on great full veggie diet for a year, had gotten my weight down to 125 pounds which was my high school weight. Your Dad has bad form. He is not a smooth runner. Get him a few sessions with a track coach so that he gets off his jogging knee pounding style to a smoother stride. Keep up the good work

Travis Grill I personally think that is just a mindset people adopt as they age. I’m 56 and honestly I don’t feel much different than I did at 20. A little slower I’m sure but mostly the same. I think as long as you eat healthy, stay lean, and do lots of cardio and resistance training then your 50s are early to be feeling old. But society will tell you you’re old and somehow most people just accept it. For example, a 55 year old starts a running program after 25 years of being sedentary and they start getting a pain in their ankle. They say “screw it, I’m old”... NO, you just aren’t acclimated to exercise.. has nothing to do with age... adjust and push through it. I understand some people have legit issues but even more just give up cause they think their old... /old man rant 😀

The sweetest thing... wish I could have a cigarette with my dad, passed away in 2016, imagine running PR's with him! I'm 49 end of next month, inspired to cut some kilos and start running again, due to your dad!

63 in October - just finish second in state fitness challenge - 2.2 million steps in 70 days. Running 4 to 6 miles daily since 2019. Lost 75 pounds. Running 9 minute average for 6 miles around 7 minutes for 1 mile. Love it and get very grumpy if I miss my daily run. My sons run with me also but they are in the 5s so I can't keep up with them but my daughter and I are about even.
