Getting to explore New York for the first time in a while was so much fun! I am fully vaccinated and I followed all mask protocols while there and during travel.
I'm still getting used to traveling alone and especially filming myself alone in public, but New York was a great place to practice. Overall, I'd give New York a 9.5/10 for a solo travel destination. There seems to be a lot of people doing things alone in new york, so I never felt weird. Also, CityMapper was my best friend for navigation.
Also, here's the link to a video that shows you how to use public transportation to get from LaGuardia to Manhattan. I'd highly recommend it over a car service because it's only $2.75. BUT, if you have a lot of luggage, be aware that you'll need to walk down 3 flights to the subway and then up 3 flights to get out.

I’d recommend you learn about what not to do there. I’m going in august for the first time and can’t wait. But I’d recommend that you look at the negatives so just in case you know what to do.

Thank you for being so honest and transparent about your trip, everyone else just post this expensive vlogs about how fun NYC is and even thought I bet is great is really comforting hearing someone else talking about how excited but also tiring and even anxious it get get being alone in the big city. I really needed this before my first time in NY this upcoming month.

INCREDIBLE! I just got back from a solo trip to NY yesterday so thanks for making me feel like less of a loser lol. I definitely agree that easing into it with restaurants you're familiar with can help keep you grounded.

Made me miss my hometown. I used to spend afternoons in Central Park when I went to school on the Upper East Side and lunches at Washington Square Park when I worked at WTC. It is a perfect city to be alone since most people are grabbing lunches alone and there is great people watching. Some of my favorite times in NYC were alone. Great video!

Same.. I’m from a small town outside of Houston. I really, really want to go to New York, but I don’t have anyone to go with, but I don’t want fear to stop me. I’m very sheltered and can be a ditz sometimes so this would be a BIG undertaking for me… especially the subway

@@daisyestrada3044 the trip was amazing!!! One thing I’ll suggest is plan some rest days because I did a 6 hour tour and then continued exploring afterwards. The next day I was beat. I spent most of that day just resting and doing things in my local neighborhood I was staying at

Agreed! This made me feel so much more confident and safer about traveling there alone. I’m in Winchester, VA right now and plan on taking a bus to explore the area (while I’m on a travel assignment alone), but had a little fear. But, wow you’re videos been of help, and now I think I’ll enjoy it and be okay (safe) alone.

Chipotle!!! in New York!?!? Girrllll!! I would suggest Trip Advisor or Yelp to find out of the box NON- Franchise places to eat for your future trips. I'm going to New York for Christmas (also solo) so I'm super excited! I must say because of you, I've added a trip to Dumbo Flea market AND Tiger Sugar (I Love boba TEA!) to my itinerary! It was fun to watch your trip to NYC. I did the solo trip to New York a few years ago too and it was loads of fun. Whenever I travel, my priority is always photography and then food so its fun to watch people experience the city in a different way. I was actually there to see the 9/11 Tribute in Lights a few months ago and other than the fact that it was hot and humid, it was great to be back in New York.

I am going to visit NYC solo in September (I come from Italy) and despite I am super excited, the fact of being a lone makes me freak out a bit...as I would love going out for bars in the evening too, but I am not sure how safe it is on my own so I wouldn't mind to go with someone in that case..anyway great job! :)

Hi, I think it really depends. I felt safe most of the time because there were usually lots of people around. I think it’s always wise to be on your guard and aware of your surroundings, but I didn’t feel less safe there than I do anywhere else. However, if you are worried, you may want to take some extra precautions just for peace of mind.

Your vlogs makes me feel safe and cook about going to NYC! Just wondering is it safe to be around out at night alone though?
I think it depends a lot on the area, but I tried to stay in busy areas with lots of people around which made me feel a bit safer.

Thank you! You can totally do it. The bus was an airport shuttle I believe. I found a RUclips video called about how to get from LaGuardia to Times Square and even though I wasn’t going to that exact location, it gave a lot of useful info. Hope that helps!

Hi I am planning to do a solo adventure, never been to New York, and never doing a Vlog, your RUclips was so inspiring, I was planning to do a vlog too, should we use any equipment like a selfie stick, or did you only film with stick to have stable shot when your are in safe space like hotel room? I know this sounds stupid, but I never done this before so I was kind of curious how can I keep my memories the best.
Hi, I wouldn’t recommend a selfie stick because I feel like it draws more attention. I usually just hold the camera with my hand or use a mini tripod. I always take the mini tripod for shooting in the hotel, but I don’t always use it when I’m out and about. Hope that helps!

Question as well, when staying at the hotel, you’d need to be over 21 y/o correct? Can a 19 y/o adult stay by themselves? Would they allow that..
Hi, I’m not really familiar with the age restrictions for hotels. I’d recommend reaching out to a hotel directly and they should be able to let you know. Hope you enjoy New York!

I think about travelling alone to NY but I am so unsure because of my safety :/ (I‘m from Europe) any tips or experiences?
Did you feel pretty safe alone? Was the subway hard to navigate? Lol. Really hoping to go to nyc but it’ll be alone and I’m so nervous! I’ve been abroad alone but something about solo traveling in the US freaks me out haha.
I felt pretty safe, but always made sure to stay where there were a lot of people. I also tried to be back at my hotel before it got too late. Citymapper is a lifesaver when navigating the subway. Hope that helps!

It’s a bit intimidating, but if you want to do it, you just have to push through the discomfort. It’s worth it!

I’m going to New York soon and not sure did whether to bother using the subway. My main concern is fear of rats!! How likely am I to see rats on the subway or on the tracks?
I won’t lie, I’ve seen a rat or two on the tracks. I haven’t personally seen any on the subway itself though. It is the best way to get around in NYC though, so maybe give it a try and see how it goes. Good luck!
