I live in Vienna, Austria and my apartment is not as small as this gentleman‘s I do have my own bathroom, toilet and separate bedroom and a walk-in clothing cupboard but my apartment is small. The rent is Euro 380 (a steal). I come from South Africa, Cape Town where I lived in an apartment with an ocean view, huge balcony and before that, grew up in a fairly big house with a big garden boasting beautiful fruit trees and plenty of space. So, when I moved to Europe, I cried bitter tears to have to move into such a small apartment. Now, I absolutely love my apartment, it‘s saved me tons of money, I have no credit card debt, I can get on an airplane and travel anywhere in the world at the drop of a hat and as I grow older, the big spaces I thought were hip and absolutely necessary, are no longer what I need. It feels as if I am in a cosy nest.

That is the first place I look, the walls, are you kidding, I could put a ton of stuff on those walls and even hang some things from the ceiling, oh yeah and get a high level bed and look at all the space under a bed, so there is places right in your face no one is using. Their are loads of many sizes of appliances for cooking, toaster ovens, coffee makers, electric skillets, mini microwave ovens, all the way across that mirror a shelf to put all of your small appliances and pack your clothes under the bed, I promise that guy a girl would have a genius set-up that a guy just does not have in their DNA, they just don't get it. The bed is 2 big, get a small twin and that is all you need to lay down on. now look at the more space you have freed up for storage. Get rid of that mirror in back of the sink, and put in more selves and use a portable folding mirror and presto more storage room.

@Soupy Anderson I think he is accumulating far more than $600 savings per month - I do not believe he has divulged his actual income, he has only talked about how he lives frugally in NYC. @@CFthorin Nonsense, we need to incentivize affordable housing that's not rat-cage sized. There are so many innovations right now in housing solutions right now- 3D printable homes, boxable homes, off grid homes, on and on. Enough of this insanity that would lead someone to even need a solution as untenable as this.
I worked two years at one of the most intense Housing Development county departments (Broward, FL), and this was the conclusion I came to after seeing all the programs. County, state and federal agencies do their best to provide affordable housing, but they fall short in numbers. If they'd decrease the size (and keep quality) of the housing options, they could help so many more citizens to be independent or at least not homeless. Primarily this could be welcomed by single people.

Free full use of the pool, exercise rooms etc. Life was sweet, then.🇨🇦🤗

I applaud what you have done to live within your means. Better still you have provided a home for two dogs who are content and happy with their life. Great achievement...
Did you say EMBARRASSED?? I could not be more proud of you! 🙌🏼 Great use of space, multi-functional everything, and your only roommates are your beloved pets. Dude, you’re killin’ it. This is how you get it done in NYC on just a few bucks with money leftover to invest and LIVE YOUR LIFE. Well done! xx
That's actually an awesome situation for a single person to be able to live in NYC for that price. Heck yeah!!!!
Until you have to poop
You've done a great job of maximizing the space. And at that rent in NYC, it's a steal! 👍Way to go, bro!🏆
I used to live in a space just like this, exactly the same situation, shared bathroom, no kitchen etc. I just want to give you a big hug. We make do with the space we have.
Your little dogs are adorbs! Perfect size for your apartment. Your apartment is cozy and happiness isn't measured by how big a home you have. Lots of people with large houses are unhappy.
This guy is really smart to keep expenses low and live in a great city.
What’s “great” about NYC?? Knowing to keep it going, is incredibly costly on our environment.. Y’all grow ZERO food..yet feed millions??? Yeah lol, that’s super sustainable👍🏼🤦🏻♂️. These “great” cities are literally the places ruining it for the rest of us..
It’s a concrete jungle lol. But ok! 👍🏼
I’m actually in a city myself lol..but it’s a small city of less than half a million people, in the county. I grow much of my own food and collect rain water to do so. Two major positive things, one can do to help ease their personal burden on the system/environment 🤷🏻♂️
@@jimjohnson4072 actually I found out recently that people who live in cities produce less greenhouse gas per household. Look up videos by Jeff Speck, he talks about it. As long as the cities are walkable. That way people don’t drive for everything. That’s cool that you grow food, but how many miles does your household drive per year?
Not bad. Being retired military and used to sleeping in tents with 12 other dudes I'd be fine with that set up. In fact that would be a mansion in Iraq. Back home, don't think that would work for the wife, kids, dogs and chickens....Rock on bro! God Bless!
You have NOTHING to be embarrassed about. I'm sure that you are saving more money than most. You are BLESSED. You are living in my dream city, neighborhood with The Empire State Building within eye-shod and Times Square close by. I like what you've done with your place. It looks very cozy. You are very creative with placement and have elite space saving skills. I salute you. You have a roof over your head and running water. Many don't have that. God bless you and thank you for sharing. SUBSCRIBED.
I would get rid of all the drawers and put wall-mounted shelves with closed boxes in this room. More floor space available.
Also a Murphy bed would be a game changer. You could also fit a shower in there in place of the sink. Put the sink within the shower and have the shower liner either pull towards the corner. You could get away with both a smaller dresser and a smaller desk that also Murphy’s onto the wall when not being used.
Honestly, for $385/mo I would totally live in this space. It looks so cozy! I personally can't imagine keeping 2 pets, but more power to ya!
I can't believe there are apartments for $385 in NYC - even this small - and WITH utilities???
Yeah, it's the pet thing that gets me too. Why would you do that to an animal, unless he takes them everywhere he goes.
How can we find out More?
Don’t be embarrassed at all. I think you have a cozy place and you really can’t beat the rent with utilities included. That is awesome. Thanks for the video.
Do not be embarrassed. If you like your life and are content, don't be embarrassed. You are doing the intelligent thing. You don't need a bunch of stuff to live good. You don't have kids, you're saving money.
You are doing great!!
Thank you!
That’s all I would need. Nice. I’ve always said. I would rather live in a cardboard box and have a pocket full of money than have a nice big place and be broke.
True
Yea Fuk That
What about renting an apartment and being stretched thin...
I like that as Americans we went from being astonished people in sweatshops allowed themselves to live like this to hoping we find such a great deal.
“We” did not
You were allowed to walk around. It wasn't China.
@@Berserk1Manga in 2022? Yes. In 2020? , not very much
@@Adam17broqn10 no really we were. I did it all the time. In 2020.
You think living in a small space is the worst part of working in a sweatshop? I live in a small space so I can work 20 hours a week.
The fact that you're doing it and I heard the fact you're saving money and investing it. That is impressive today because most people your age are trying to impressive everyone with all of their stuff! I'm 61 and aim trying to get RID of my stuff! I believe you're smart and very thoughtful about what you want your life to look like in the future. I DO think lofting your bed up in the air could give you some more floor space- obviously. You could get another light source in there with a taller lamp and put it on the white dresser. A rice cooker can steam vegetables and do other things-they make large ones for families and smaller ones for cooking for one. I lived most of all you're a dog dad and you saved a plant. That says tons about you. You still have your soul in this materialistic world-which is awesome. I'm hitting the like and Subscribe buttons. Take care!
