I lost time time because I only disconnected the sway bar on one side. Both sides must be disconnected in order for the sway bar to lift. Took me a while to figure out why I wasn't getting enough clearance to remove the old strut (was binding at the sway bar). But these are great instructions, the best I found for this job - thank you.
Thanks for watching!
That ICON is the stage pretty good for on and offroad, definitely one of the mote expensive options
Stock Torque Specs-
Top Strut Mount Bolts: 45 ft lbs
Bottom Strut Mount: 125 ft lbs
Upper Control Arm: 26ft lbs + 90°
Tie Rod: Tighten the ball stud nut on the ball. Stud to 22ft lbs + 90°
Sway Bar End Link: 16 ft lbs
Wheel Lug Nuts: 130 ft lbs
I really appreciate your video! Getting ready to do this on my wife's truck. The other video I watched pulled the axle shafts and a bunch of unnecessary steps.
Right on! Thanks for watching!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge! I am getting ready to tackle this job on my 2013 Ram. Really appreciate it!
You can do it!
Great job guys! Excellent video with complete detailed instructions. So nice to have all wrench/socket sizes along with full torque specs. This is exactly what I needed to feel comfortable about doing this job myself. Unfortunately my Ram is 10 years old and is used for plowing up here in the Northeast US.. Lots of corrosion and rust. I expect it will be a struggle breaking all the nuts and bolts free. Let the battle begin!
Awesome! Thanks for watching! You got this fight on warrior!
I’m up north too how did it go? I’m planning on doing mine
I live in Québec. I always srayed loose nut every week in a month before doing the job, Nuts, bolts and sleeve where bolts run thrue. It help soooo much and using patience and a bit of heat too. !! Hope you job went fine !@@7paulcraig 😉
Thank you for the instruction!! I have 2013 RAM, so this is perfect!
You're welcome! Thanks for watching!
Samesies. Thanks.
An
Thank you for directions , great video..
So nice of you!
Great video! Would this be the same for a 2022 Ram1500 4wd? It looks the same to me.
My bottom strut bolt don’t wanna come out any idea other then a bigger hammer to knock it out it’s stuck even with penetrate on it
any particular reason on the upper control arm you can not re-use the nut/fastener?
Yes. It is a jam nut. Not a nylon jam nut but all metal. It is made for one time screw-in. If you want to reuse it, apply red loctite on threads. But for the price, buy a new one.
I see a bunch of goodies in the background in your intro... is that for the bronco or another build 😁
Good eye Shawn! Yep it's for the 347 new video tomorrow! Thanks for watching!
@@2carpros let's do this... have not been excited for a FORD before so that says something about your content and teaching.. keep up the great work!
It's all fun and games till that bottom bolt is seized in the bushing 🤣🤣
Are the front springs on a 2014 4x4 trades man the same or is the left different from the right ?. I ordered a set together and received the same shock with 2 different springs thanks for any feedback back
That icon coilover is rebuildable.
Will these steps work if I have a 2” front spacers?
Sure will, just might be a little harder to fit everything in. Thanks for watching!
I was unable to get the strut out after following your procedure. 1A auto has a video that shows that you must completely disassemble, removing the caliper and bracket, rotor, axle, separating the lower control arm ball joint and lowering the lower control arm to finally get to remove the strut.
I saw that one and the guy go wild removing too much component to my opinion but he is such a good teacher and a good technician thow. Did mine with ease by removing upper sway bar nut, upper control arm nut, tie-rod nut and lower and upper strut bolts. Had to heat upper section of knuckel and lower coilover nut thow. Even having spraying everything 3 times on a 2 weeks before doing the job and having smacked very hard knuckel when job was on. But succeded.
Do you really have to replace the fastener/nuts when putting back together. I’m going to be doing this very shortly,by the way, excellent video!
I would, these are one time use crimp lock, once you back them off, they no longer self lock. Also the factory Mopar hardware isn't the best.
Yes. It is a jam nut. Not a nylon jam nut but all metal. It is made for one time screw-in. If you want to reuse it, apply red loctite on threads. But for the price, buy a new one.

The lower Control arm bushing for 1500s will be most likely sized if your up north.
Lol started this job expecting it to be easy, all my shit is seized up. About ready to call it quits and pay a shop
So no need to remove the spindle from the axle? You can get the strut out leaving that intact? 🇨🇦
Nope. Thanks for watching!
I put rancho 2in on my 2010 and if your not in the south and your north like me then lord have mercy on you and me. The bushing will diff be seized. So torching and an air gun is the way to go. The yellow tank for torching would do. So after 2 days of torching and oh the nut and bolt and the strut to the bolt I chopped. 😂
Sorry for the late comment. I have a 2.5 in level on my ram and an installing the Kings beginning of year. Does it bring it back to level just by installing or do I need to crank down the spring collar to get that height?
It installed level for me so I assume they set it up that way from factory. Thanks for watching!
The linked coil overs are not in stock you have any recommendations to use?
Any of these would be fine as long as the application is correct. www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/ram,2014,1500,5.7l+v8,3305957,suspension,shock+/+strut+&+coil+spring+assembly,15174

You know what KING SHOCKS are, but you don’t know who ICON is?! You’re a bit of a dope to think ICON isn’t at the same level as KING. Are you new here?
Hey guys, might be a stupid question, but do I have to do alignment after this? I am guessing not?
Not a stupid question at all. Technically yes you should. I drove the truck and it seemed fine to me. Thanks for watching!
Will replacing front coil overs or struts throw off your front end alignment? When would you need an alignment when replacing front end suspension parts?
Technically yes. Thanks for watching!
Humm. For me I don't think so. As long as you dont change the tie-rod adjustment and don't touch camber cam on lower control arm. But if you whant to proceed, run the truck for couple of weeks before alignment.@@2carpros
Do you need an alignment after install ???
Technically yes. But I bolted down everything how it came off in position so it should be close. Thanks for watching!
where do i get that kind of shock absorber
Those were custom made by KING for this application. Thanks for watching!
Can you make 5th gen ram read shocks work on 4th gen? Was given a set and didnt want to trash them if i could use them some how.
I believe they do work
Stock is fine if you're not doing anything other than road driving. Clearly you don't go off road....
Not my truck. Customer wanted them and I don't argue with them.
