You took a smart approach and now have the real deal. I don’t think the sensor replacement, if it becomes necessary in the future, would drive your total price beyond reason. The Voigtlander lenses are very good as well. Have fun.

I bought my m6 for $750 off of a private leica broker. It's fully functional, but it did have some slight bubbling on the black chrome. Chrome. Also I bought this in 2010. So to get that kind of price you would need a time machine these days 😅

Nobody aspected a comeback of film photography back then, otherwise everyone would have stocked up on several cameras 😀

@@IntrovertAmateur everyone was selling off all of their film bodies to buy an M9. There was a moment of glut and prices for bodies dipped while lens prices shot up. I bought a v3 35mm cron for 850. Which was a huge jump, when they could be found for 500ish a few months prior. And the v4 cron was pushing past 1200. And that was bonkers high for the time. Lol. I need to find that time machine.

Back then I wasn’t interested in photography yet, but hearing stories like yours regarding prices back then just shows how time can change everything when people’s preferences changes. Beside the cameras bodies I would also pick up the film prices from the past 😀
It's very much like having dust in your sensor on a fixed lens camera. You can pay a lot of money to clean it or just work around it. I imagine you would prefer faster apertures to high iso on a CCD anyway.
Yes, that’s also what I thought. I don’t shoot above ISO 800 with this camera and need to open up the lens in most situations.

I wouldn’t have purchased this body.
I just bought a damaged Fuji XH1. A six year old camera. The LCD screen is, what I believe, cosmeticly damaged. It still is fully functional. In addition, the owner threw in one Fuji branded and two nonfuji branded lenses. The lenses are worth almost the value of the body.
Given the value of the lenses I bought the body. The risk has been mitigated.
Congratulations on the purchase of your Leica. I hope your sensor problem does not get worse.

Sounds like a great deal you had with the Fuji! Cosmetic issues are in my opinion something I personally can deal with when the price is right and it sounds like your package with the lenses compensate that mostly. Great!
