    Love to see some comments from all the guys that gave you shit when you were SnapOn Junkie and said you had nothing and couldn’t fix your own truck.
    Amazing what you’ve accomplished in a short amount of time standing in front of millions worth of badass trucks.

    Love the colors on the WS. The higher HP and Torque engines always are worth the extra cost. As long as the fuel consumption isn't much worse than the lower HP engines, better to have than not.

    Keep an eye on front leaf spring shackles/pins. There is no "lock" in the pin to lock it into place when the pinch bolt on the shackle is tightened. They work thereselves apart. We have 3 and they all did the same thing. They admitted there is a "design flaw" and they are aware of it. If they start making a popping and clunking noise in the front, you have a problem.

    • @mikelark2093
      @mikelark2093 11 месяцев назад

      Update...we have 4 and all 4 have the same problem STILL. I'm on my 4th set of springs, 3rd set of front bearings. 59,000 miles. The Stealership keeps putting the same problem springs back in it because there is no "fix" yet and apparently front wheel bearings are also going to be a problem.

    Coming from a Detroit engine guy, your biggest problems with the gen 5 DD15/DD16 will be overhead issues. They are dropping exhaust valve bridges, main reason is the adjuster screws are splash lubricated with oil. The GHG 17 DD engines, if you have them, are going to have mostly fuel system problems mostly from the injection pump grenading if you don't prime the fuel system correctly, that will probably be an issues on the gen 5's too, just haven't seen it yet. Another major issue with the GHG 17 is the oil leaks, oil pan gasket, head gasket, cam housing seal, sometimes oil coolant module. Those are the major issues that I see with the Detroit DD engines. Western star trucks are nice looking and Detroit engines are good fuel mileage engines.

    That Burnt Orange Western Star is THE SHIT!!! I Totally AGREE, the power on that DD15 needs to be turned up to THE MAX and THE TORQUE AS WELL as long as it doesn't VOID the Warranty. 560Hp & 1850 Torque.......Otherwise, you should've gone with the DD16 and Max HP & Torque (600Hp / 2050 Torque) on that. Like you said, you're "into Big Liter Shit"!!!!! It's just my opinion.

  • @Graveltrucking
    @Graveltrucking 2 года назад +2

    The 4700SB I used to drive with the DD13 Allison it has its pros and cons lets say its a light weight truck it does the job it doesn't win any races. I'm assuming the 4700X replaced the SB model, if you have a DD13 engine you got to have an 18spd behind it. There is four 4700s running around the area with 18spds. Right now here in Western Canada you couldn't get a new gravel truck if you tried its a years waiting list sometime in late 2023 you'll have a new truck. Where the economy is going 2008 is coming fast you're going to see a big crash anybody deep in debt will be wiped out. The smart excavating contractors here are running all paid for equipment they know what's coming the writing is on the wall I see it coming I've been through it back in 2008 wiped out a lot of people.

    You’re the only person I’ve seen who prefers the ultrashift. Have their been improvements to them? Historically my service department and nj local trucking companies steer clear from them. Your input is greatly appreciated . Currently running a 4700 with a 505/1850 dd13 allison 4500 4.33 gears. It runs great my 47x’s are currently spec’d same power but allisom 4700 rds 4.10 gears . Trying to get the best of all worlds. I always had tremendous luck with Volvo ishift 12 speed with crawler gear

    • @justinbarnes486
      @justinbarnes486 2 года назад +2

      Same to each there own. I will stick to my Allison. Sure the Ultrashifts are cheaper & the DT12 tranny is ok but definitely not an Allison. I had 19,000 hrs pulling 105k with 0 problems on my last dump truck.

    • @lilgamg
      @lilgamg 2 года назад

      @@justinbarnes486 the thing about an automated trans that I like is when playing with running speeds it’s easier to calculate how the truck I’ll perform when changing running gears. My Volvo vhd’s started at 3.73s now my newer ones are running 3.58s and they pull better believe it or not and get great fuel economy. I had to start buying western stars because my allocations got cut down on Volvo. I’m trying to figure out if I should give the dt12 trans a shot I just don’t want to make a 230k dollar mistake L O L
