    next time try collet chuck for that 2 flute end mill and a v block in the vice with that 3 jaw drill chuck that end mill will pull down and out as for the vice using a v block will help keep the cylindrical object up right and secure hope this helps as danger never takes a day off

    When holding round bar in a vice you should really use a vee block against the fixed jaw for a secure hold. Milling cutter in a drill chuck???

    • @reedy93
      @reedy93 4 месяца назад +1

      I picked up on that but with the thread out the back it is seating too high would be better in a modified large 4 jaw chuck bolted flat down on the table but 20 thou cut will get away with it.

    We had a couple of Detroit Diesel 12V and 16V engines that turned a main. The machine shop cut the bearing bore out, maybe 3/8" oversize, and made sleeves to fit in with the ID about 0.005" to 0.010" undersize for the main bearing bore. Then they drilled and tapped holes about 90° apart for countersink bolts. Loctite the bolts with the heads flush. The cap had the same done. These bolts locked the sleeves in place. Then the caps were trimmed to align bore/hone the main bearings. One large Caterpillar engine was salvaged in the same manner. An 8,000# (that is weight) block is a wee bit expensive to replace. Like ship crankshafts that are 40 feet long, very expensive and tooling is somewhat rare due to the small market.

    LS3 from a Camaro or Firebird with the Tremec 6 spd trans. Actually takes 50# off the front end of a Beemer 3 Series. With minor porting, a cam change and tune, you get 550HP at the rear wheels. The 760 V12 diff bolts in so you do not explode the ring and pinion. Makes a whopper sleeper, and fuel economy is not bad, all things considered.

    One thing I found on the original mini motors was that if the cam was warm it's possible for the followers can be too small and the lobes can club on the sides. So if you are going to build a warm engine it's worth machining out the holes for the followers, what size I don't remember but to fit Holden straight six followers worked well

    Great you have finally taken notice of the hundreds of comments saying to wear glasses and remove the hood strings. Using a milling cutter in a drill chuck is next, but at least you're wearing glasses when the cutter comes out the chuck, one step at a time.

    Hi Lee . I live in Vancouver, B.C. Canada and watch most of the videos. I am a fan and subscriber. I race a 2003 Formula 2000 Van Diemen. In our race group we have both 2L Ztec and 2L Pinto engines. I am curious about the pinto blocks - here we have 200 & 205 pinto and capri blocks. What are the differences between these? Our pinto and capri blocks have 2.0 cast on the lower part of the block. Can you please shed some light on this as well? Thanks , Keray

    Do you have any BM M111 2.3L performance cams 18° or similar or you know where to get them from. Even some Originals that are in great condition would consider I wonder if I should go for the 2 L cams be like a touring cam it will give it performance. Not sure with the modern cars because they got this advanced cam timing if that makes any difference these days?

    It sounds like this customer was trying to save costs by supplying some of the parts, then shopping the build out to a local garage. A recipe for disaster. That huge flat spot sounds like the cam and high compression, was not suitable for road use. Did the customer specify the cam to be used?

    Some "operators" will not give a standard price for a job or a part.
    The price depends on how much or little money they still have in their "BOOZE FUND".
    And then they wonder why the customers get less and less - but unfortunately there is a new sucker born every day.
