After milling the valvepockets is there any worry about the thin edge left . Will that sustain the heat created at the crown of the piston or will the metal left be insufficient to prevent fatigue or burn ?
Hey Lee and Issac, Lee when you machine the valve pockets so close to the edge of the piston would that create a hot spot? Issac, have you thought about changing your GFs name to Subaru, smiles all round.great video chaps 👍🇦🇺🍻
I quite like this episode, as you spend a lot of time showing us the engines and then displaying the remedies for any problems encountered. And the sound was terrific. 😆
To think ford got 550bhp for saloon car racing with the cossie engine so at that power wouldn't expect a long life I rate the blacktop zetec as my everyday mk1 focus has done over 200000 miles and still going well shame the newer generation of ford engines aren't as good
Hi, just out of interest that 1.5 PSA lump has it got a 7mm chain or the "uprated" 8mm one. I have heard of 7s failing on a regular basis and looking at the year of manufacture will these be the diesel version of an eco boom engine ?
You are right about the 7mm chain failing. Thankfully it can be identified by the number stamped in the cam cover. Unfortunately to convert to 8mm it needs new cams as well as the chain and tensioner.
So in all these years that's the first time I've ever seen a set of honing Stones anywhere in the workshop is that a new tool or did Noah's Ark just reappear?
tip for the subaru motor, run your mains on the tighter side of spec as the two halves of the block are trying to pull apart and your clearances will grow especially if you are running big power
Great channel very informative and interesting always brings a smile to my face and you have good banter never take yourselves too seriously but you still get the job done you can’t beat experience and you have it in abundance guys
HP bragging is like our street racer clowns bragging how fast they are in the 1/4 mile. Try talking them into going to a sanctioned track and they will not. Actual timed runs separate the men from the BS poker guys. You would think someone would come up with a kit to get rid of the wet belt and put a chain in that will last.
You break the promises on your video schedule, and then make up excuses. How can a person trust your word regarding engine work if they can't trust your promised video schedule? Food for thought. Not to break balls on when the videos come out, but rather that we be good and solid to our word, to our promises. Far better to say nothing than to say things that turn out not to be true. We should give pause about what we say, and not make promises or commitments that we can't keep for one reason or another.
Lad behind the camera is flippin' tops. Brilliant stuff.
LOVE the old Bridgeport- incredible machine for its era👌👊👍
Please pull out your hoodie strings 👍
Scary seeing someone lean over spinning machines with those dangling out, deadly accident waiting to happen
Lee in a positive frame of mind. Good to see.

wondering the same thing🤔
Cheers to you as well, from Canada.

Good question
3:16 - "Just on the safe side"......blows swarf off without safety glasses.😂

Betty bubblewrap will be along soon to tell you off.😂

I think you would get 800hp from a cosworth but 30 second's before it self destructed
Would love to know just how deep those valve pockets really need to be since the valves are almost closed as the approaches TDC.
better too deep than too shallow..
👍👍

I used to watch them on tv back then, don't recall many if any ford engine failures during the race ...

love the relationship between the boys. good to see

When do we get to see your Escort?

Ooh i lurv ingins.
600 HP from a 2 litre? Is it common to run 4 bar in the UK?
Well whatever goes on? I love watching Barum engines. Always light hearted and generally something Ford happening!

Mk2 escort with cosworth lump 🤔 😱 the suspence is killing me just give it up we need to know 🤣🤣🤣
@petercraig806 : Most will not out of fear of having their BS revealed.
😮
Did the Bridgeport come with a lifetime warranty??

World wide problem . When they start mouthing off I ask them to come to the track and prove how slow they are .
Make sure you replace the cams in 1.5 connect engine.. the cam lobes spin
Lee- your housekeeping is slipping mate- you have an oil stain on your overhead locker behind the Transit chain/valve calamity…🥴
Amateurs, never make the BBC 😂😂

Oh, please.
Don’t be so grumpy 😠
Baby man 😢🤓
Technically they held up on the promises. Would you rather watch a mute video. There's always a moaner.
Haven’t you got anything else to worry about in life?
