Funny you mentioned the sell off, as a bright youngster in the early 90s I remember reading about it in the Today newspaper, I firmly told my dad that I would buy one of these Chieftains for my "first car"; £1500 was cheap for a good car let alone a tank. Needless to say my dad rolled his eyes and continued with his day.
Like what a few others have said, i only found your channel because of Whistlin Diesel. And im glad he has helped to guide many your way. After seing this video in particular, its great to get a bit of an insite on what goes on behind the scenes regarding the gathering and sharing of information between the both of you to help in future restorations of the chieftans. Little know Fun fact when Australian sold off our leopards they did not deactivate their cannons as they did not think any ozzys could get ammo. Fast forward 6 months some old boys got some empty shells (sold as umbrella stands in shops)black powder shotgun pimers and a redgum warhead turned on a lathe, to say the D.O.D got off they ases fast was an understatement
I can understand that some people are upset over the treatment of the chieftain by diesel, but it is also a goddamn tank. Who doesn't want to see a tank do all sorts of stuff that you wish you could do yourself? don't tell me it isn't a childhood dream to drive over a car or through a bus! Diesel is a bit crazy but I had a feeling he didn't just buy it to smash it and discard it like a broken toy. I think he has a lot of passion for cars and for what he does. It is very good to hear he has restored it, and that he inspired you to make this channel, bless him. I love watching you tinker on your tanks!
I don't think whatever hate he receives has anything to do with the tank. It's a tank. It's a hunk of metal made to go to war. Who cares if it gets beat up. It's not even something rare and of great value. I've seen guys on here driving rare Ferraris through dirt roads and shit. Now THAT pisses me off. Drive the damn thing but not off road. It's just that some people, including me, don't like people who just break stuff for youtube likes, views and subs. It's this fake, edgy persona he has created
i think you hit the nail on the head, what people see and what's real are different things. people like him won't live full throttle every second of the day off-camera. we don't see what's off camera, at the end of the day this is entertainment and youtube is something we don't have to pay for but yet people like they have a right to complain about what they see. love that you never push people to follow and subscribe or like the videos, I mean I do all of those things because I want to not because I'm told to. keep swingin' spanners, bangin' hammers, and most of all listen to ted as he's the boss.
I started watching you guys with the t 34 that had the bad engine in it. You and your guys there went crazy on that tank. Can't wait to see you go visit the Australian armor museum
I don't care too much for Cody. That said, this channel is awesome. And it's great to see all the stuff being recommissioned, would love to see some prototype shenanigans if any exist. 🤔 Although my favourites are the CVRT family of vehicles and 432's ( just being phased out when I served) good times 👍🏻

@@xXturbo86Xx Dirt roads and gravel roads are still roads.
You can't expect to drive around in a tank without getting a little battle damage! All in all great to see another one rescued from from rotting away!
i lov this channel
Top class as always thanks Joe
i think you hit the nail on the head, what people see and what's real are different things. people like him won't live full throttle every second of the day off-camera. we don't see what's off camera, at the end of the day this is entertainment and youtube is something we don't have to pay for but yet people like they have a right to complain about what they see.
love that you never push people to follow and subscribe or like the videos, I mean I do all of those things because I want to not because I'm told to. keep swingin' spanners, bangin' hammers, and most of all listen to ted as he's the boss.
🤝
Cody is a rockstar- great job man - love what you do
I started watching you guys with the t 34 that had the bad engine in it. You and your guys there went crazy on that tank. Can't wait to see you go visit the Australian armor museum
You did a wonderful job restoring that tank.
I Sub cuz your a legend men! You really did a great job! I want to see more of your content.

Such a cool video. Well done and love the message at the end😂
I don't care too much for Cody. That said, this channel is awesome. And it's great to see all the stuff being recommissioned, would love to see some prototype shenanigans if any exist. 🤔
Although my favourites are the CVRT family of vehicles and 432's ( just being phased out when I served) good times 👍🏻
Glad you do RUclips Mr hewes enjoy watching your content. Meeting you at tank fest was good 2 coz your genuine fella. Ass always Mr heads keep her lit!!
Knowing that he restored it after makes it ok for me.
i thought he just bought a tank and destroyed it for views(wich he did), but then restoring it again shows that he does care
shows the importance of a stock of useful engines / gearboxes / ancilliaries all fixed, cleaned and painted ready to go , makes a swap over after the rusty work done quite quick
