My 1923 Matchless car has the first ever brakes patented by Captain Girling, one brake shoe like a Cumberland sausage on each wheel, cable operated, it has four wheel brakes but they don't all operate at quite the same time!!!
Safety of John's car on the roads these days is like dring a stock restored Model T. Those old brakes are about as effective as dropping a leg out and dragging your foot. Problem is you give yourself space to stop coming up to a traffic light, and about 4 snapperheads in ricers nip in front and hammer the brakes.
Ill take that little rig for a ride. Obviously wouldnt take it on the freeway or any busy roads but a nice cruise around the on back roads would be just fine. Just pay attention, keep your eyes on the road ahead and drive reasonably youd be fine
All that money spent but what will happen when we get them C15 City’s push in by Labour 😢 Some interesting stuff you’ve got on the go. John’s old car looks great fun. I took my friends Riley Monaco to Silverstone long time ago he came second in one of the races that was fun to drive back then, and yes the breaks were not great plus you had to double declutch the youngsters wouldn’t know about that, but all this modern stuff that’s real driving more excitement😊
Lee i John's going, written into the end contract is his two videos! One re how the business started for him etc, incl. how you were when you came in! 😜The 2nd is a video in 2 parts. Show us the Austin (all details etc etc), and take us for a drive, and lastly show us how you do crankshafts!! Get it signed off!? 🤣🤣 Those cable, brakes....think of them like bicycle ones!.. Gradually apply and they warm and grip. Too much and they fade..
Good to see a zetec would like to see the stripdown and the state of wear they seem to be a tough long lasting engine seen them with over 200k ford cant seem to make a decent engine now
How about more technical content, ie going through the process of reconing a conrod or crankshaft, or fitting main bearings checking clearance etc, thats what viewers would want to see, we love to see the jobs coming in , but the technical aspect is what viewers will keep coming back for, cheers !
Old Austin, no worse than riding a motorcycle. Your grandad drove these cars all day long, and he's still lasted long enough to make your parent. Those old Austins are seriously valuable BTW.
I love John's Austin 7. I'm sure that if he has rebuilt the engine it will be good for decades. John thinking of retiring? I told you not to paint his office dark grey!! What is poor chap supposed to do?
Here's a suggestIon that won't really make money, but will make the videos look nicer... Buy some custom made and printed engine cover bags for when you have engines up on the stands after cleaning. The plastic bag is of course a goid idea, but a nice canvas cover with your logo printed or embroidered would be pretty and functional to keep things clean when not being worked on. Not sure of the expense, so you'd need to balance function against cost.
I'd drive John's little beast - i'd love to do Lands End to John O Groats in it - i cycled it in 06 when i was 39 now i'm a tad older i'd like to do it on 3 or 4 wheels - its nice to see a car without those bondage straps (thats seat belts to normal people) i hate the dam things they make me nervous - many years ago i rolled a van and the reason why i didn't panick and got out i because i wasn't wearing a belt ,
Hi I'm not a ford freak or even a car guy but if the 200 block is so desirable is there not a billet block available or an aftermarket cast aluminium item?
Don't worry about the Rat it's the seagulls today, god knows what they have been fighting over on the roof of our workshop in Appledore, sounded like a tin of tuna all day!
Leave the rat alone mate. He's got a life to live, just like you. Encourage him to move house or just leave him be. Rats are more scared of us than we are of them. Like every cornered creature, leave him an 'out' he can see. Close the workshop up, then both go in from one side only, then start stacking the pallets on their sides, not flat. He'll get the picture pretty quickly and make a run for it. You just need to make those pallets unratfriendly. On their ends, the rain can get right in and there's no shelter value. Then make a habit of moving the wheelie bin around the yard a bit. Anything to make home outside your works a miserable choice for Mr. Rattie. Just as 'weeds' are plants in the wrong place, 'vermin' are animals in the wrong place. The difference is that animals can move on, plants (unless they're Triffids) cannot. 🙂
Looks like it is a 4-318 from a 595 or a 1080 tractor, the 410 Massey Ferguson combine had the 4-300 which is the closest engine I know of to the 4-318
what's wrong with youngsters now a days, if the algorithm on their phone doesn't predict it they couldn't anticipate a fart bubble in a bath. John will have his arm pulled off by some lucky begger to snap up the Austin. Whatever, youngsters aren't interested means cheaper vintage car/motorcycle prices for the rest of us.
@BarumEngines What model Perkins needs the replacement crankshaft? Try ringing up Caterpillar, they own Massey Ferguson and Perkins. You might be able to get a brand new crank from them instead of trying to source a good used unit.
Your getting very slack. Standing around talking crap ain’t gonna keep subscribers. As far as racist comments go. The only one that is racist is the person who mentioned it.
More click bait drivel. About time a decision was made as to whether this channel should be taken as serious motor sport engineering or a source of income through spurious headlining. They can do better than this.......

Get the rat to inspect the lathe. It sorted the mouse out.😂
Lots of people would enjoy Johns car! Good fun and not dangerous on country roads.
Love the look outside at your surroundings. neat building
I had a puma 1.7 - think it had a Nikasil liner (Zetec) - great car - no issues what so ever. Cost £2k in 2004, soild it for £1.5k in 2008
I think the Seven is the most beautiful car I’ve ever seen. If I was 20 years younger I would buy it.
Mark from Gatwick, (Crawley?) is from my area, so look forward to this build
If I wasn't across the pond, I'd love to have Johns little car! I also ride motorcycles, so the safety concerns are pretty much the same.
I assume the title is regarding John selling up the car, not the business.
Click bait title, again.
Looking forward to the Zetec rebuild, hopefully plenty of video of it
I learned to drive in an Austin Seven, I'll have you know ! (it was a fair way from new !).

Get John to look at doing some Bert Hadley hillclimbs and sprints. It would be awesome fun for that 😎
The bungy strap is to hold the doors shut!

Nice business venture for Issac.
Issac with that wee Austin on a trailer on the back of his scooby doing a hill climb
How much are shares in the company? Us viewers could buy them and vote on the colour of the office. I`m going for BnQ Grey Slate.
More clickbait, I`m done 👍
Thanks for the heads up
Flounce off quietly YC!!

Caught me with the click bate this week, until i seen his car thought it was the business, should have known well done Lee.
i recon the king may buy it make a vid with him and princess Anne doing 90 round round the gardens🍀

I was under the impression the Zetec engine was nothing special.
We used to run them in Formula Fords in the mid 90's.

Great idea. Black ones would like very nice against freshly painted orange engine stands
Good idea. The plastic bags was good. Your idea is excellent
Send some info to Ivan Dutton about John's little car. Looks to be right up his alley 😂
Careful leaving the Austin outside. Somebody could tuck it under their arm and walk off with it.

After the vsndalism of the ford van did you get it repaired????
get a 100 foot steel tape , don't muck around with a 12 ft
Don't lean on the door, close it!
Issacs! Drive the Austin man, think of the content
Hi I'm not a ford freak or even a car guy but if the 200 block is so desirable is there not a billet block available or an aftermarket cast aluminium item?
Yes their are billet blocks called Millington 😊
Smith and Jones bought Coscast off of Cosworth and they make ally blocks for Cosworths
Why doesn't Cosworth sell the original design to a block maker? I have thought the same thing
@@ghollidge 😝
@@ghollidge 🤣
That little car needs a new home with a hill climb bloke, who wears a cloth cap.

I saw two 200 blocks on ebay for 1500 each
I thought that the Click-Bait titles were being reduced in number and frequency.
Fat Chance - this is Barum Engines.

The place across the road taking advantage of the publicity , i see :)
My missus used to work at Car Care Centre across the road.
Why does your video title never match the content?
Tell mr woke to do one
I thought "Noddy" came to visit, then I realized it was John's car. 😄 🤣
Is that Austin called Steve and would he sell it for 6D.
That Austin is still safer than an old motorbike and they are great fun!
I would give him £1200 for it if the engine is ok!
What is the perkins engine. Might know of a complete engine in a combine

@@BarumExtra I will ask in the morning what engine it is if I remember

@BarumBTS sorry but it's a different engine

With the Subbie , BUY SOME EXHAUST silicone and another set of gaskets and make a sandwich setup !!

I think you should both apologise to John and all the vintage car enthusiasts after this video.
