I don’t blame the bird for wanting to escape it, as that cage is way to small and rounded. Never get a bird like that a rounded cage especially. Birds need corners and a wall behind it as they feel more secure. They are prey animals in the wild and instincts are they are scared of everything coming from behind them and reason they need to see a wall behind them, it less stressful for them. A rounded cage they will be stress out all the time. Then the door, if one day the bird opens it to quick and head stuck mid way, door could slam down on the bird and would cause injury for a small bird like that. Please get the bird a bigger cage, if you haven’t done so already,. They need to stretch out wing span and space to move around and play. At least you did get the bird a few toys. You more likely don’t know better as see you bird is not scared of you and tons of toys. Get you bird a better cage. They need it as stress can do serious harm and consider animal cruelty. I just got a pretty much a few months old baby cockatiel just recuse from a bad situation. He came with his cage which is 2 to 3 times bigger then the one in your video and getting him a bigger cage like my big birds soon. Just have to measure spacing to decide cage.
Round cages: similar to a human living in a closet Tabletop cages: similar to a human living in Harry Potter’s Cupboard Under The Stairs Flight cages: similar to a human living in an apartment aviaries: similar to a person living in a mansion Of course, domestic/captive birds have limited freedom and will never have that same freedom compared to birds in the wild, but pet birds are there for us to love and bond with, birds, and any other animal can still be happy when they are bonded with their humans and they get all the attention and the most contented life possible
@laurablack23 Birds sometimes get frightened and need a corner to hide in to feel safe. That is why many bird owners get upset when they see a bird in a round cage, especially one that is so small. they need one that is about 18x18x24 at the Smallest.
While the small rounded cage is a sad sight, this and many other cockatiel escape artists prove that birds are smarter than the average human gives them credit for
What about the complete removal of the wings, (at birth perhaps?) to keep the bird from flying away? We NEVER let our birds out of their cage, (we have 5 cockatiels in a lovely cage maybe a bit smaller than yours)for fear of them escaping. TBH we have tried wing removal several times, but no luck... ideas anyone?
@@torontoguy1097 what on earth did i just read? u don't let ur birds out of their cage? and u want their wings removed? dude wtf that is sick. clipping the wings flight feathers is the most u can do to keep them from being conpletely able to fly, removing the whole wing would be cruel with no medical reason. if u are that scared of them escaping, all i can imagine u are incapable to keep all the doors and windows shut when the birds are out. give them to people who actually are able to care for a bird because you obviously aren't. no bird wants to live in a cage forever.
What we ALWAY did in my parents home was remove the wing EARLY, more or less at the "elbow" to ensure non flying. This is painless to the the baby bird but it is important to keep an eye out for bleeding. It is important to watch the scabs and incisions for infection. It the bird is older, remove the wing at the "shoulder" as the bird will pick at the wound. As I mentioned we have unfortunately lost quite a few birds due to infection. That's why NEVER let our intact birds out of their cage. Still looking for help!!!!
even if this little boy (it's a male bird for 100%) only goes there to sleep, please be so kind and buy him a cage with corners. round cages are the worst place for birds!
good thing the cockatiel csn get out. the cage is round which is VERY MENTALL DAMAGING FOR ANY BIRD and the cage is MUCH TOO SMALL. these facts make thid potrntially amazing video disturbing.
It's because you should never put a cockatiel in a round cage...they need corners to feel secure and the bars going horizontally I hope you have gotten him a new cage by now. Cute bird!.
Buy a new cage because... 1.if they get scared/frightend the like a wall to retreat to but in round cages they cant 2. round cage are old and ugly 3.its too small! thanks LoghornsProductions
XD ever wonder why birds try to escape from cages? how about this! Maybe they get bored locked inside a cage with no space to fly and NO FRIENDS! And think about THIS! Even if you let it go it doesn't know what forest it came from. Keeping birds as pets its kinda mean when you think about it. Birds deserve to be free. To flex their wings. To fly above forests in flocks. Not locked up.
Mine has had a bloody foot, and the vet nearby doesn't treat birds & there isn't another vet for many miles. What should I do?! o_O I don't have any form of transportation either.
Hi , my cockatiel is wild one and I just tamed her in day 2 , I have a bigger cage but when I put her in the cage she goes crazy , runs around , jumps and shouts and after I take her out then she doesnt like me for a while.
i too have a cockatiel, and it has two budgie friends with it :) and the cage is not very big either... though much bigger that that is,but i ALWAYS keep the doors open so they can get out to fly in my room or come with me to watch some tv whenever they want,so they just sleep & eat in the cage :)
You should read a bit more about COCKATIEL birds all gray bird with yellow head and orange cheeks are female birds he may never yellow heads when they're gray. they remain gray with a bit of yellow spots.
there are a lot of things you could do to tame her depends on what she prefers. Some tiels get tamed with petting some others with talking e.t.c. but some never get tamed.. or tamed enough to let you to pet them. jst try different things, google it, and remember always to keep parrots in pairs at least.
Davos Seaworth I know this comment is really old, but ill still give my input lol. It’s all personally preference. I personally don’t love to clip wings as I think it’s a little mean taking away what’s in their nature. But if the bird is aggressive or you are in the process of taking it then it might be best to clip them until it’s tamed or nicer :)
@brucedabetta I've never heard that ._. I have a cockatiel in a very large cage, and it's rectangular, but I've never heard that they shouldn't be in a round cage? Is that really animal abuse?
You probably took her outside the cage too quickly and now she thinks that the outside of the cage is home and the cage is like a prison, you should have waited for around 2weeks before taking her out
Mergitypy waiting 5 days on average is good for a young bird the 2nd day you should put your hand around it and 3rd in it but away from the bird the 4th put your hand close enough to the bird so it can peck your hand to see if it is safe and the 5th start teaching it step up inside of the cage 6th outside of the cage.
No wonder he wants to get out, the cage is way too small!
Birds shouldn’t have to be on the floor of the cage!
What a horrible tiny cage for a 'tiel, and rounded! Ugh!
The cage is too small thats why it probably wanted to leave
Smart bird indeed, but everyone who watches this video: remember that cockatiels need bigger cages, and also corners, They like corners a lot xD
Cage is too small for any bird. This is cruelty
That cage is not good for that bird, round cages are really bad for them and so is the size, far too small
Naht your bird
@@MaryGrazeTita doesn’t matter it’s still bad and too small . It’s for the well being of a living creature . They’re not for display .
