    One more tip 🖤
If you're having a hard time remembering to close windows and doors, you can write a note to yourself that says "don't open windows when birds are out" and stick it to your windows or doors.
That way, you'll always have a reminder in front of you.

I lost my bird outside many years ago when I was a child. It was in the spring before the leaves were. My sister and I got the cage and walked down the street and mom stood on the front porch with our puppy. That budgie had bonded with the puppy and came directly down on my moms shoulder. We were so blessed that day.

One time I opened my window cause it was hot inside and since I had an important school project I started doing it. After like half a hour I saw my bird wanted to get out of it's cage, so I just opened it and got back to work. YES, The window was open still. After ending the project, I saw that the window was opened. I was really lucky that my bird did not escaped.

My cockatiel quickly went out the door and flew very high, he began to fly in circles through the neighborhood. I ran to the street and started to whistle his favorite song, since I knew he couldn't recognize the roof of my house, at least he could recognize me. A few minutes later, he stopped at a tree in my house, I sat down and feel a little relieved knowing that he would probably come down with me after taking a breath and he did. A few minutes later he flew into my head.

After trying to find her, whistling out to her etc she whistled back! But then the other birds heard her and started flying after her but luckily she got away and flew away from them. She ended up flying into the near by creek and into the water where I was able to run down and get her to safety. It was honestly a miracle!

One of my budgie name Winter flew out the cage onto the back deck. As I got closer, he flew into my neighbors backyard. My brother and I immediately went outside to go look for him. I gave up looking for him after 15 minutes and went back home to go create flyers. When I got home and to my room, I heard Winter crying nearby and calling to my other budgies Kiwi and Baby, so my brother and I immediately went back outside and followed Winter's voice. We found him in my neighbors backward behind us. Winter was sitting on top of the fench. I tried to grab him but he flew away and came right back to where my brother and I was standing. Winter flew into the bush and landed on top of branches. My brother tried to get him. Winter would hop on amd off from my brother's finger. After all of that, Winter flew onto the fench and started climbing up the fench. As he was climbing up the fench, I immediately grabbed him and put him in my bird carry bag. I thank Yahuah for helping me because its rare finding your lost bird. I aslo realized that Winter was wasn't making that crying sound when behing grabbed. When I grabbed him sometimes, he cries while squirming around. He was not doing that at all. I think he was scared being out in the wild for 30 minutes. I called my vet to see if it was safe to put him back in the cage with my other budgies and she said it was okay and to monitor his behavior. If he was out for 24 hours or more, he needs to be in a seperate cage and a visit to the vet because he might came in contact with other birds and animals that might carry diseases. I'm just thankful that I found Winter and he is safe at home with me! I did everything in this video and I never seen this video before.

    My lovebird flew away today.
I went after him from street to street, alley to alley, and I was able to track him for a good while, but he kept sitting on top of tall buildings, and before I could reach him, he would fly somewhere else. I eventually lost track of him and it became dark, and I went home.
He was one of my few friends. One of the very few good things in my life and I loved him like family, and now he is just gone, and I can't do anything about it.
Just the thought of him being out there in the dark right now, alone, hungry, thirsty, scared, cold, absolutely demolishes my entire soul...

My Budgie escaped in June of this year and instantly I was horrified to see him fly through the smallest gap in the door. He is my constant companion and I thought I would never see him again and as we have an amazing bond this was not something I wanted to imagine. So I did all of the tips in this video including contacting local vets and putting the message out on social media. He was a free flying bird throughout the day and only caged at night or when unsuitable visitors arrive -- dogs/cats!! So my boy was lost overnight over 24 hours and i was beginning to lose hope when i had a message over social media that lady had actually caught him, he was perched on a telephone wire over 2 miles from my house and this fantastic lady had managed to coax him down to her (he is very tame and friendly) she then raced indoors and it turns out she is also a budgie owner, so she popped him in a nice comfy cage with food and water and even bought him back to me ...needless to say she is most definitely on my Christmas list! As a result my boy got treated to an even bigger cage and of course still free flying all day but now only use the back door so there are two doors before getting out in the wild again! I have labels on front door to make sure people know it stays locked and must use back etc this way my boy can fly free and look for mischief shredding wooden toys and nudging pegs onto the floor - he is a cheeky boy but so greatful he is back!

One thing I've learned about having birds over the years is having a strong bond and your birds learning recall is crucial in case anything like this does happen and why i don't reccomend clipping your birds wings. Even clipped birds can fly off, problem is they can't come back because they've never learned to fly properly and even if they wanted to don't have the ability to come back. It's like expecting a kid who just learned to walk to cross a busy street safely. It's not something that's likely to happen at all, your birds eventually see you as family and the outside world to them is unfamiliar and probably terrifying in lots of ways. Always make sure you prepare your bird for life in as many ways as possible. Harness training is a great way to get your bird some flight training safely too in the outdoors.

  • @AYRTtON1995
    @AYRTtON1995 Год назад +9

And you forgot to mention an important thing, don't clip your bird's wings too!
Someone here commented that he just clips his bird's wings and that way he doesn't escape. HELL NO this is not the solution.
just be responsible and don't open windows near your bird, don't clip his wings and make him suffer just because you don't remember to be responsible

It was around 6 months ago, I got a pet puppy, so we couldn't take care of our 2 new birds. We decided to give them to my cousin and aunt, and it did hurt a little watching them go, but it was for the best.
4 months ago, we got a call saying that one of the cockatiels (His name is Pebble) flew out. Our aunt usually left the cage outside in their backyard, and when she went to replace the bathwater, Pebble managed to fly out the little crevice.
We came to their house, me and my sister, panicked. My parents? Not so much. We went to the beach to chill, but when we came back to shower, we heard Pebble squawking. We followed where it was, and it was the house right beside. It was a relief, until we realized that the house owners weren't home. Our parents just told us to wait for them to come back, but I knew that Pebble would fly away. He did. Me, my sister, and my cousin followed the bird squawking again. It led to a tall evergreen tree, which was the last time we ever saw him.
He flew away from the tree, and we managed to hear him again, but we couldn't manage.
    And thats it.

So heres my story. Basically a windy, mid-day sunday. We put the cage of my first bird Tweety(a blue parakeet) on a small tall table thing on our porch and the door was open(fyi i lived on the third floor of an apartment at the time). I was in the kitchen when i heard a crash and i bolted to the porch, and all i saw was my budgie climbing out of the broken cage before it took off. The days that followed were sad, from me heartbroken that day, to someone claiming to find it days later, and returning a bird that was not mine.
We later got 4 more birds that we gave away after 3-4 years. This was about 5-7 years ago(im now 16) and i still feel guilt to this day whenever i think about it. Thank you for reading and i hope you have a great day 😊

My parrot flew away today (28/9/2024)
I was really very sad my younger sister was crying very badly and when he flew it was night and was raining I really wonder if he comes back and wish that he is safe wherever he is if someone catch him I don't have any problem but wish that he keeps it with more care than I did.
We even searched for him everywhere but as it was raining maybe he was sitting quietly under a shade of tree or protecting itself by rain by hiding we asked our neighbours also if he was on there terrace.
    Miss you Toto ❤😢😭

I took my birds onto the balcony because my mum was cooking and I didn’t want to risk the birds inhaling Teflon so I put them outside. I went back to writing my essay for school and then it was time to take them back in as my mum had finished making dinner. So I go out amd the door is just wide open and my brothers bird is just sitting there on the perch. My bird had figured out how to open the latch and fly out! However, my brother’s bird didn’t leave as he had previously flew out and bumped his head so he was traumatised. I was very sad and so I went to try and find my bird so I ran through several neighbourhoods but no luck. So I made posters with my number and posted them around the suburb, little did I know it would be circulating in a Facebook group made by the locals. A man named Robbie found the bird pecking on his window and let him in as he is a bird advocate and loves watching them. He also had another budgie so he was able to get my bird so,e food. He went on the Facebook group and asked if this was anyone’s pet and surely enough someone reached out to him and me and my bird were reunited. ❤❤❤

One of my budgies name Winter flew out the cage onto the back deck. Winter would hopped on and off from my brother's finger. After all of that, Winter flew onto the fench and started climbing up.

My African lovebird always wants to escape and it was not her first time escaped her cage it was her 4th escape and i got her back immediately because my other birds signals me when she got escaped but this time i thought they were just hungry so i got outside and tried to feed them but i heard my bird whistling because she always do that (though shes not my real bird that i brought from a store my mom just accidentally rescued her on her birthday)
So i calm my self after seeing shes not inside her cage i saw her on the plants and picked my phone and started playing African lovebirds sounds then i slowly catch her and im so happy and blessed she didn't flew away and im glad that i did this tips God bless you all

My bird flew away on thanksgiving. His name is Philip- and he is very silly, my dad was cleaning his cage- and Philip flew right out when he got the chance- and let me tell you our neighborhood is next to an ocean, also where tons of birds of prey live- the crows are especially big. He was chased, and he stood in the highest tree possible. I took his mate outside- she just looked away in disappointment and he wouldn’t come for his favorite treats, songs, not even his mate! After 4 hours, our guest were going to come, i was super sad and was hoping that he was crying, I just hoped he was ok- and that I would find him. I was sure he died. But after 2 hours, we had a bird song out- salad, his mate right next to our door. He eventually saw it. And flew over- it took some time for him to find out how to get in, but after a bit, he waddled in like it was a normal day- I was joyous- he looked at a piece of lettuce, it was small- he found another piece of lettuce , it was bigger but closer to me! (He wasn’t trained back then) and he waddled over, my dad walked over slowly and shut the door. And after him flying around a bit in our house, my dad was tired of it and lightly held him and put him back into his cage.he bit my dad, but yeah- and that’s when the journey of our friendship began, he is a proud father of 4 babies. And he is a proud companion!
(That took a lot out of me)

I've lost my lovebird parrot 4 times to the sky.
Because I had already established friendly chirping back and forth with the bird, I had that to use.
Fortunately, the parrot flew around and around my area, chirping. He knew my chirp, and I knew his.
The last time was scary because he landed on the roof...and something landed on him and started to fly off with him. He slipped free and I got him.
He was lucky he was not scratched because such scratches can get infected very quickly. A cat scratch can be deadly to a bird.

I used to have two budgies, but one of them just flew out the other day. I’m praying, hoping that they will come back soon. Sometimes we leave their cage out in the patio to let them get some sun, and we accidentally left them out in the night, which is how I’m guessing she escaped.

Today my bird flew away from our house. She is just 4 years of age, I don't know whether she can survive in the wild because right from her birth she was with us. I'm worried if she had something to eat or will she be able to find shelter. I have kept the cage outside with her favorite food and water, and my mom & dad are calling her name so that she recognises the voice and come back.
    Hope she comes back.
