I really like your videos man, I've been going to the gym for 3 months and I've been seeing some results, my wife has been seeing some results, but I don't feel like I've been seeing the results that I've been looking for in this amount of time. I have like a bunch of your videos recently and when I go back to the gym on Monday I'm going to do a good workout following your videos.
Im annoyed your channel never pops up in my feed. This is the first time I've seen a short from you and ive been subbed for years, and i can't remeber the last time i got recommended athleanx videos. Maybe its my fault for being a lazy pos 😅
Why would I do it without a weight ? And as I said I have hurt my back when doing it - I’m 66 years old and I do this almost everyday with 15 or 20 pound dumbbell - I would like to see an example to do it right with weight 🙏
Not 100% sure, but didnt you mention also something about rotating your whole torso, like trying to look behind to ensure you're actually rotating? Not sure if it was in YT video or Core4 program.
@@athleanx EXACTLY! 🤪👍🏻 Thanks to YOU and though I'm down 107lbs. Was 38% body fat, now 13%. You are every bit as much an inspiration as Arnold is. Please keep up the good work, and I'll do the same.
Why is rotation good for core anyway? Aren’t you risking injury when you could train your core to do what it’s intended for and that’s to stabilize your spine?
I suggest the beginners to put your feet on the ground first. Easier to do and lower risk of back pain due to your core is still not strong enough to support your back.
I was training this way with a 45 pound weight but when I was training someone, I saw many easy ways to get the workout done 😂 Example watching phone when we are working out. So I workout alone unless someone can focus or pay me some money 😆
So I got a question for your I’m just now starting to get into workouts and are you twisting your chest to your waist with these or is it just your chest your turning
I found a exercise (or somebody did) Here are the steps 1)seat on the ground 2) anchor my feet 4)get into a half sit up position (my Back and ground are at 45 degreesh angle) 5)take a Weight 6)twist left at full speed, stop the movement before it hits the ground, twist right at full speed, stop, repeat 7)LEAD THE movement with your obliques, pls control it properly, Don't go too heavy Precaution: you may wanna crack that spine, warm those abs up,and stretch them obliques. And pls record it and check if your back is straight or not You can change the difficulty by Puting the dumbell away or close to The body Btw i have no idea if its safe, but i am doing it for around 6-8 months and i am fine
I still feel like if it's done without a dumbbell or any type of weight, it'd be useless since there's no resistance other than the fact that you're holding that position for the entire workout.
Yeah but It's not contracting the muscle fibers in the direction that they run. The abs run vertically so doing a twist is not training abs. At best your working on flexibility by doing the russian twist
@@athleanx You said ab exercise in the first sentence, not oblique exercise. I actually typed that the exercise runs with obliques not the abs but I figured everybody already knew that so I erased it. @@bobbyhunt3009 Bobby, no offense was taken at all. Do remember however that the most important function of the abs "in function" is to prevent or control rotation so as to do it with proper care of the spine. The vertical alignment of the fibers act as pillars that help to do slow/control the more angled orientation of the obliques - making the Russian Twist (done right) a very good exercise for both the abs and obliques. Hope this makes sense and again, no offense taken or intended.

Just do the same thing but with weight, just "row" while holding the weight.

Get em right, Jeff!
Why is rotation good for core anyway? Aren’t you risking injury when you could train your core to do what it’s intended for and that’s to stabilize your spine?
it is inteded to support all movements and positions of the spine,so rotation is good for the ,,core"
The problem with this is that if ur not real careful u can hurt ur back , especially if ur doing it with a weight
Tap aside, let that slide, in a rowboat's flow, we'll go! 🚣♂️🌊
I thought that, rotating in a flexed position is bar for the back, it creates friction at the lumbar discs
I just twist as much as i can until resistance. Thats how you know you are doing it correct.
thank you.
Did he not levitating his foot? Is it allowed? I always levitating my foot when doing it
Thanks, been doing it wrong
My doubt is should the heel touch floor or not
I suggest the beginners to put your feet on the ground first. Easier to do and lower risk of back pain due to your core is still not strong enough to support your back.
Needed this
I do max 4 of them and my lower back cramps and hurts 😢 I can’t do butterfly kicks either as I have a hip snap. Failing from all sides.
Had a drill sergeant rip all his muscles off his rib cage doing crazy Russians as we called them
Exelant!!!!👍🇺🇾🙋🏼♂️
great
Da tovarish, in Soviet Russia, Russian twist twists you.
Is this exercise safe? Or is there a possibility of a hernia?
tbh everytime I do it hurts my tailbone but i’m just used to it so if anyone has a way to NOT do that pls tell me
I thought you were supposed to have your feet off the ground during a Russian twist?

full range of motion is killing your gains!
I do it holding a barbell and make sure I rotate my upper body so I look 90 degrees each side

Chest to waist
@@redreuben5260 so I wanna be moving my whole upper body doing the twist cause I see some people not turning there stomach just like there chest
Why don't you tell them also that it is not a balance point on your butt, plant your feet on the floor. Lifting your feet is wrong.
