This helps people who are sedentary, and want to safely and gradually start increasing mobility.
I can't even do this much, and I've been exercising 3 times per week for several months. My legs won't come off the ground without my back arching and hurting.

@@feral5374 Isn't that what I said? What can I do to work up to this point? There must be other moves I can do to strengthen the muscles that I need to be able to do this with proper form. Or, are there props or modifications to enable me to do this with good form until I get stronger?

My physical therapist had me doing this after my concussion. Keep your lower back pressed against the floor, that's how the effects are felt. Very effective exercise.
I tried it the full grown version and my body said “not today”
Thankfully my core and chest are the two areas I've focused on for something like 8 months at this point consistently, so they're great, but let me tell you... 90% of ab workouts result in back pain regardless of form.
