Chevy spit these out and didn't care what the quality of them was. Mine was a problematic car.... From day 1 to now. Chevy lost a customer..... for life.
You're only allowed 2 remote starts then you have to manually start the vehicle. If a door is open, a window is open or the window calibration hasn't been performed, trunk open or hood open the car will not start. A bad hood latch switch or door switch will prevent remote starting. Also if a check engine light is on it will prevent it from remote starting.
So idk I had this and I guess I pushed it and didn't realize it. So after I actually got in my car the car fired up lol scared the day lights out of me. So now I am trying to do it and it won't work. 3 years having this car never knew I had auto start and my engine light is on but my car has been serviced and nothing g is wrong with it??
From what I've read if check engine light is on it won't start, sounds like if door is open or door latch isn't working or if you do it 3 times in a row all of the above will not allow it to start
I rented the cruze ltz & had the same problem.. It won't start, don't matter if u press the lock button 1,2,3 times.. The driver info center on the dash said transmitter not in range & I was next to the car. Second the seat belt light is way to bright it's beams the person on the pass. Seat @ night. But the fan is way to powerful lol it's like a jet engine..
Having same issue. Just bought this thing told day. I hit lock twice, it chirps the horn to let me know it's locked. The, press the start button, it makes the passenger air bag button word lighting come on for a split second, then nothing.
If you have started it two times already, it is supposed to do that but otherwise you need to push the lock button twice, and then try the remote start.
My 2015 Cruze is doing this same thing… i didnt know i had remote start until 5 months after buying the car i really noticed the button on my key fob. I used remote start 1 times, only for it to not work at all since. I understand that a check engine light will override the Remote Restart feature but i have not had a check engine light since buying it 2 years ago. I do know that my TPMS light has been lit on my dash for months. But after a-lot of research, that shouldn’t interfere with the remote restart. All 4 sensors went out and i was not going to pay $75 ($375) for each sensor to be installed. When i can buy 4 new sensors for $20 and have my local tire repair company install my parts for $15 a tire.. Anyways, my car is doing the same thing this guys car is doing… i tried to see if this car gets into valet mode- and did the reset only for nothing to happen. I then did the key in on positon 5 times in a quick row… nothing. What else am i missing! When i hold down the remote start button, i can hear a click sound coming from the front of the car like its trying to start. Help!
I have a 2010 Malibu & it's doing the Exact Same Thing. But it will start when I'm at the Dealership, Once I leave the Dealership & go somewhere. It doesn't work.
My lacrosse was doing the same thing. Motor rattled so bad on startup it threw something. The remote start issues and constant repairs in the shop. I GOT RID OF IT.ill never purchase another American made car again. My Malibu was a horrible vehicle it died with 109k on dash
Update: My Cruze now wont stay warm. Even when my engine temperature reaches the ideal spot, if I even lay off the gas for a minute or idle at a light, it drops down and the RPM's shoot up to about 900. Taking this POS they call a car in tomorrow and see what happens.
Right you suppose to hit lock twice but i feel you my car wont start either until new key fob and new batteries. But back to same prob soon after. Cruze is a piece of crap same prob ova and ova
My 2012 Chevy Sonic I Have to press the Lock button twice then hold the remote start button and it starts.. when i press the unlock button 1 time and then hold the remote start button it does not work.
My Cruze has and continues to do this whenever it damn well feels like it I guess. And A question for anyone. My Cruze's Tail Lights turn on and off randomly, again, whenever they want. whether I'm braking or not. and It's really hazardous and can only be stopped when i put the pedal to the floor and cause excessive acceleration. Any clues? anyone?
Applemomotech @applemomotechyou do not have to hit the lock two times, I have owned three chevys with the remote start lock plus remote start works just fine. Your GM vehicle will not remote start if the check engine lights are on/any engine issues. 2011-2012 Chevy Cruze ' have faults like shown. I have the on star app... If you have on star download the On star link app and try to remote start through the app. Good luck!
If the FOB is your only problem, consider yourself lucky. Try dealing with AC turning off when you hit bumps, leaking intake gasket, anti-theft system not recognizing keys, and badly warped brake rotors within a year of warranty expiring. FU GM
I have the exact same car. Just curious to how long and how often your car does this? Mine just did it for the first time. I am also in the process of replacing a vacuum hose (only 27k). Squeaky brakes. and my radio has randomly shut itself off several times.. Am i the only one?
I understand that the key fob should be working...but you do realize that you can still manually unlock the drivers side door, get in, and manually start the vehicle? It's not like you're unable to drive the vehicle anywhere
You’re Cruze probably has the same problem as mine it won’t remote start but I checked the car with a diagnostic and it read code p0496 and it’s a very simple thing to do and it should fix you’re Cruzes remote problem
This problem only happens after you have done remote start twice you have to start with the key in order for it to work then try it again and no you don't have to hit the lock button twice!
Mine is 2017 and yep…it’s true…u MUST hit the lock button TWICE then try the remote start but I do have this issue. Check engine light was on for a while so I understood it not working but my car has had everything fixed for a while now but it still won’t work. Any one figure things out…for the love of Pete-PLEEEEEASE POST A SOLUTION. 👍🏽
i had this same problem with the 2012 malibu from enterprise they had to show me, press lock twice then the light flash and push start the car will flash then start .. read the manual
Chevy spit these out and didn't care what the quality of them was. Mine was a problematic car.... From day 1 to now. Chevy lost a customer..... for life.
Gas is too low or check engine light is on. Bad door latch or doors not closed all the way, includes hood. Those are why that condition happens.
You're only allowed 2 remote starts then you have to manually start the vehicle. If a door is open, a window is open or the window calibration hasn't been performed, trunk open or hood open the car will not start. A bad hood latch switch or door switch will prevent remote starting.

aaaaa another gm tech so glad to se smart people here owners are so fuckin stupid
I was wondering why my chevy dosen't remote start, I have a check engine light on, thanks this helps a lot.
this was very helpful!!!!
@@5020gonzo will it fix the problem if check engine error will disappear?
So idk I had this and I guess I pushed it and didn't realize it. So after I actually got in my car the car fired up lol scared the day lights out of me. if u have a engine fault light on
u have to fix repair take care of the
problem
causing engine faut to come on
Once repaired car should remote start
From what I've read if check engine light is on it won't start, sounds like if door is open or door latch isn't working or if you do it 3 times in a row all of the above will not allow it to start

Help!
Lock button needs to be pressed twice prior to start attempt.
If check engine light present, it won't start.
Did it ever just not start and tell you to service the security system. Or when you are driving the radio will just go blank thanks for any feed back
stupid press the lock button twice and then press remote start button
he so dummmb
You only pressed the lock button once. You are the dummies
If u own one uk u only press it once u the dummy
Might be a little bit too late, if the check engine light is on it will not start.
Looks like a defective hood switch. The system thinks the hood is open and won't let it start because of that.
I have a 2010 Malibu & it's doing the Exact Same Thing. But it will start when I'm at the Dealership, Once I leave the Dealership & go somewhere. It doesn't work.

My grandma 2011 chevy impala lt did that too
It could be in valet mode. Not sure how to fix but quick Google search might do it.

Well your doing it wrong because you need to click the lock button and then press the button that is under the lock button like for 3 sec. 😏
Also, if your check engine light is on or any doors/windows are open it will not start.
You just saved me money. I open/closed my doors/trunk and the light went away and my remote start worked. Thank you
Right you suppose to hit lock twice but i feel you my car wont start either until new key fob and new batteries. But back to same prob soon after. Cruze is a piece of crap same prob ova and ova
My 2012 Chevy Sonic I Have to press the Lock button twice then hold the remote start button and it starts.. when i press the unlock button 1 time and then hold the remote start button it does not work.
Slap the lock button twice . And if that don't work reset the remote start with the computer on the dash
How do you reset it from the dash?
Was your check engine light on??
Mines is....
My Cruze has and continues to do this whenever it damn well feels like it I guess. And A question for anyone. Idk about you guys but my Cruze doesn't have any issues

Well i rented a 2011 2LT and it wouldnt work until you press the button twice
Double tap the lock button until the horn beeps then try to start it. My Cruze has to be in anti theft to start it

Same here the radio will flicker on and off
I understand that the key fob should be working...but you do realize that you can still manually unlock the drivers side door, get in, and manually start the vehicle? It's not like you're unable to drive the vehicle anywhere
Yes but some people like there car to heat up for the winter so they can easily scrape the ice off
Did the check engine light come on too
Mines is....
You're doing it wrong.
Did you know that if you start it up with remote start twice thrid time it will not turn over.
You’re Cruze probably has the same problem as mine it won’t remote start but I checked the car with a diagnostic and it read code p0496 and it’s a very simple thing to do and it should fix you’re Cruzes remote problem
How you fixed it

Not true my work car does the same shit the first try they're just shitty cars

Chevy made-in-china crap
awwwww poor you your remote dose not work at lest you dont have a ford or a dodge you turn them on if you can get them to turn on and it falls apart
You have to let the car rest for 24 hours dummy... Or just turn the car on and cut it off the try remote start
Why waste your hard earned money on american shitbox? It's ugly, unreliable. Get a toyota or honda.
Lol, so lazy
How to solve this problem
