I'm having that problem right now and as soon as I turn my car off my trunk pops open as well. And you video helped to figure out how to get my car started.
Thank you for the video! Helped me out both times it happened to me. I have a 2015 Chevy Malibu LT. The first time it happened to me I did the method of key to the ON position for 10 minutes. After that, I started carrying my second key in the car. Maybe not the brightest, but I didn’t want it to happen again. I keep it hidden and luckily it came in handy the second time it happened. I inserted the second key and the car turned on like normal. Thanks a lot for the informational video!
Thank you very much , I am having this issue right now … all I did while sitting inside I placed on the unlock and then lock button two times . It worked
Bro, same year same trouble! Seems that these cruzes started shitting the bed in 2018. Thank you for helping me skip all the ten minute wait times. That is what I was reading before I found your video
This legit worked for my buck Verano. ..which is the same as a cruise....I had even more alarms showing up....my speedo gauges weren't even working. ....used the other fab....it all worked normal
You are the best bro. Thank you so much. That just happened to me and thanks to your wisdom, the other key start it. All thumbs up, you saved me from going "crazy". Thanks a million.
Hey you guys I have a quick fix to get you back on the road! I've tried this twice and it worked! (My key fob is broken) it's risky but try having someone give you a jump lol I know the car heads are like alternator and electric computer whatever but hey it saves the day. It didn't work at first but leave it connected for a new seconds and have them reve the engine
Another solution- if you experiencing the same problem. Get out of your car- press the unlock button , then lock button, then again unlock. While standing outside the car, if you have automatic remote starter , start the car, it will take 30 seconds for auto start. If it starts, your golden.
The anti-theft is now reset. In a chevy silverado, you will try to reset the anti-theft system by turning the key on until the yellow lock goes out on the instrument panel for about 10 minutes. Turn the key off and do it 2 more times after 3 cycles, pull the key and put it back in.
Exactly. My wife's car is stuck at a gas pump and this fool wants to explain nothing for 5 min. And yes, I took the time I don't have to type this out.
Just happened at a gas station to me recently. Wife was in the car, radio was on (radios use very little power) I was inside for under 5 minutes, which isn't long enough to drain the battery. She locked the doors (can't remember if it was with the keyfob or the button on the dash), but I think the thing was the passenger door wasn't QUITE shut, you know when you've not quite pushed it close? Either way, I think this made the car think someone was trying to get into it. We got a jump start, and within a minute the dash was lighting up and not saying the 'theft message. Still puzzled
This is clearly a known problem that Chevrolet needs to fix for FREE. I have to take my 2012 Cruze to them via Tow and they want $150 for the service fee before they can tell me whats wrong. Thats BS, they know whats wrong just reprogram my key but I bet they try to tell me I need to replace parts !
Just happened to me. Try this. Get out of car, lock door with the actual key (no buttons). Unlock it the same way and try to start the car. Worked this time however the first time this happened I ended up calling AAA who jumped my battery. Didn’t think my battery was dead btw, but replaced it and the key fob battery. Sooo why did it happened today idk? Hope this helps anyone who feels SOL
My key fob was broken like yours and i got beer in it, but now anytime i put the key fob in the ignition the alarm goes off,...Guna go back to my friends house and try the spare one see if that works, thanks for the video :)
omg ya we tried everything. finally we opened the car doors and shut them one by one, driver door last. leave key in ignition. It worked, Thank you God! Good luck fam.
exact problem Used second key..worked...Later, I used other key...and it worked..sort of like a reboot.. Other way is unlocking and leave door open, then push lock on key, close door, then hit unlock...but using key was quick and easy...
FOUND THE PROBLEM‼️Had theft deterrent system, service power steering and stabilitrak popping up on my dashboard all of a sudden.then it got annoying because when i would turn my key the first time and it would just click and wouldnt crank up until i turned the key a second time.i did some research and found out that the negative battery cable that comes with these cars go bad real quick so i bought a new one from amazon for $20 and havent had this problem since i hope this helps alot of you guys that are having the same problem
Went to Florida for 2 weeks my car sat. Came home and car wouldn’t start and wouldn’t crank up. Anti theft light came on and my key was stuck in ignition. Waited a few seconds and tried again, got the key out. This happens a few times. It wouldn’t even allow me to fully turn ignition. Googled and RUclips some stuff. Tried a few things. Got the anti theft light to go out by turning key right before ignition keeping it there 10 min then repeating 3X. So now it allowed to to actually start the car But… battery was dead at this point. Got a jump and drove around for almost an hour then the next day SAME THING! This time it’s not only saying anti theft but it says “battery saver active” “service power steering” “ service traction control” “service stabili trak” I looked at my voltage on the menu and it said 14.3 at first but after trying to start a few times it went down to 9. 🤷🏻♀️ if you or anybody read this whole comment… do u think this sounds like the negative battery cable issue? While researching that came up a few times. Would like it if I didn’t have to pay an arm and a leg to fix it 😞
All wrong.... While sitting in the car unlock the car, while the door is open push the lock button down on the door then close the door and start the car... 💯
I have this problem with my 2015 cruze I have push start. I got mine to start by holding in the button to try and turn on the car it doesnt work everytime it took me today a good 15 trys holding in the button before it would start. I have been having this issue for 3 weeks. The first time my alarm went off while we were in the car saying theft attempt. And the car wouldn't start.
I had this problem and after replacing the battery everything works fine. When starting I was getting the Anti Theft pop up, heat wouldn’t work, wipers came on, hazards went on or it needed a jump start.
Please don't make an instruction video if you have no idea what you are doing or what the real problem is. It just wastes people's time. The second key is NOT a solution. The problem key has somehow either lost its validity with the TDS, or it was never properly programmed after cut. Depending on the exact model year there are various procedures to Rest the TDS and/or recognize the new key and FOB. On some GM's this involves (1) putting the key in the ignition, turning it just to On/Run (not to Start) and leaving it for 10 minutes until the TDS light goes out, then removing the key (2) repeating step 1 two more times for a total of 3 times, (c) Starting the car with the newly recognized Key Fob. In OTHER cases, where that may not work (as someone else points out here) on some, putting the unrecognized key in the Driver door for 60 seconds will re-recognize it. (I am betting that in your case, that problem key that is still being squawked by the TDS is only working because the other recognized Key Fob is being sensed. Put it far away and you problem key probably will not start the car until the proper reprogramming of it is done.)
Every one who has a second key should be smart enough to know to use the second key you mean to tell me people need a freaking video?... 😁😂🤣 Get this start your car for dummies out of here!
After all that, it didn't work at all. Joseph PeaceOut, you don't even know why what you did worked on yours or what it fixed, and it obviously doesn't work across the board. Stop making videos
I'm having that problem right now and as soon as I turn my car off my trunk pops open as well. And you video helped to figure out how to get my car started.
are you accidentally hitting trunk button at same time, due to location of buttons on FOB?
Same issue here

I popped the hood, took the battery out and waited a few minutes then put it back and now it’s working
Thank you very much , I am having this issue right now … all I did while sitting inside I placed on the unlock and then lock button two times . It worked
You can also just unlock your door with the key open the door lock your car then shut the door then unlock again get back in and start it
Does this work even if the key fob doesn’t work?
This is definitely true!!! Just did mines
I did this last week it worked
Bro, same year same trouble! Seems that these cruzes started shitting the bed in 2018. Thank you for helping me skip all the ten minute wait times. That is what I was reading before I found your video

Now I am happy. Thanks...

Thank you for posting this video. Everybody on here acting like they are professional directors and movie makers, chillllll!!!!
try putting it in neutral then turning the key. it worked for mine. i drive a 2015 chevy malibu
Omg you saved the day I could cry bc I only have one key no spare to my 2014 Cruze!
It cranked straight up
So glad I saw this comment. Thank you that really saved the day.
I would check the battery in your fob, it might be dead. Should say that on the dash though.
Hey you guys I have a quick fix to get you back on the road! I've tried this twice and it worked! Just get to the thing that worked. Wasting so much time
So it was just the car not recognizing the key anymore?
his second key was probably just out of battery
Just to let everyone know if you have a code reader reset the PCM with that will crank right up
I will do that I have same problem
How do I reset the PCM?
The anti-theft is now reset. In a chevy silverado, you will try to reset the anti-theft system by turning the key on until the yellow lock goes out on the instrument panel for about 10 minutes. Turn the key off and do it 2 more times after 3 cycles, pull the key and put it back in.
The problem is the unlock key doesn’t work on my keys
It works i am a witness. When your engine locks use another key Thank you
Put the key in driver door and hold for 60sec.. that’ simple
I just tried this and it worked. Thanks a million
This worked ! Not the video . Thank you
Thanks so much bro
You’re a god.
While turning the key for 60 sec or simply just putting the key in the door?
Solution: use another key.
brother your video still helping a lot of people 😂
Maybe open your key fob and see if it got water or anything in it, that is what happened to me. I cleared the water and it starts now.
How did you do that?
Get to the point!
PLEASE!
Fr this shit is garbage…
Exactly. My wife's car is stuck at a gas pump and this fool wants to explain nothing for 5 min. And yes, I took the time I don't have to type this out.
🤔👍🤣🤣🤣
Freakin’ ramblin fool. Good golly, what is happening to people?
thanks buddy that worked for me the second key
If battery in key fob is low your security system shuts down your car

leopheard so all I have to do is get a jump and it will work ?
This worked with my car. I got a Chevy Malibu and it’s up and running.
@@alexusscott7065 I think so

you guys too picky, that mate is a genius,2 mins solve the problem, that is good enough for me
I saw where someone else said that changing the battery in the fob worked for that problem..
Just happened to me.
Try this.
Get out of car, lock door with the actual key (no buttons).
Unlock it the same way and try to start the car.
