You can use this procedure, you just need to reprogram in your working fob. If you look at the steps in the description box, or your owners manual, you will repeat steps 4-6 for each remote.
Do I have to program two keys? I just did one key and I have a “service theft deterrent system” message when I start the car. Everything works besides the message. The car runs and drives fine but the theft light stays on
I have a 2017 Chevy Cruze RS with pushbutton start. Recently the key fobs randomly don't work. I have replaced both batteries in the 2 fobs and still have the problem randomly. I read on line that they might need reprogrammed. So will doing your instructions reprogram my fobs?
So I haven't lost my keys, I have a working key/remote and just ordered a 2nd remote with blank key, does the blank key still need to be cut or can I use the key from my working remote to program the 2nd remote?
No, you can just use the emergency key from your original key fob. FYI - You will need to re-program your original remote during the procedure. If you look at the steps in the description box of the video - repeat steps 4-6 for your original remote after the new one.
Yes, you will just need to re-program your orignial fob during the procedure as it will be erased. If you look at the steps in the description box of the video, you need to repeat steps 4 - 6 for your original remote after the new remote is programmed.

Use 2nd remote remote start no issue. Go back an hour later and remote start on both fobs no longer work and still got key left in car reminder when I open the car door. I have redone the process 3 times. Same issue all 3 times. 2017 Chey Cruze Premier keyless remote. Please help.
I have two fobs that are both programmed. I just want to reset them to test something. Will this work if it’s programmed already and I’m just resetting it?
Yes - this procedure will erase all fobs that are currently programmed so you will have to re-program them both. You will need to start the procedure with both fobs far enough away from the vehicle so they cannot be read. If you look at the steps in the description box of the video - you need to repeat steps 4-6 for the second remote after the first one is programmed.
Tonight both original key fobs on my wife’s 2018 Cruze stopped working(tried new batteries and everything).I Can use the Chevy app to open the car and can start it with key fob in front cupholder. If I follow these instructions can you place both original fobs in the cupholder so it does both at the same time? Or can you only reprogram one at a time? My manual says it doesn’t apply for Canada. Is there any harm in trying?
You can only program one at a time. If you look at the steps in the description box for the video, you repeat steps 4-6 for each remote, after the first remote is programmed. However, the manual is correct that these are only for US market vehicles. I'm honestly not sure if there is any harm in trying, I think that you probably wont even be able to get the vehicle into programming mode.
yes - you just need to reprogram your original as it will be erased during the procedure. If you look at the steps in the description box of the video, you need to repeat steps 4-6 for your original remote after the new one is programmed.
you don't technically have to get the new emergency key cut - you just need at least one to do the procedure. You will need to reprogram your current key fob during the procedure as it will be erased. If you look at the steps in the description box of the video - you need to repeat steps 4-6 for your original key fob after the new is programmed.
I have the spare cut key fob. The original with the key inside was lost. Do i need to order another keyless fob? Or can i just use the cut spare. If so means pulling the key out of the door will it still program so i can put it in the armrest lid.

The metal key still works in the door lock so my question is, if this procedure can work for me if I use the original working metal key with the new key fob that I want to program?

It can but just changing the battery in your key should not require re-programming. Are you sure you installed the new battery correctly (Not upside down)?
I ordered an extra fob as a spare. I noticed you said this only works if there is no original key/fob. Does this mean I cannot program the extra fob without erasing the original fob?
You just need to re-program your original fob during the procedure as it will be erased. If you look at the steps in the description box of the video - you need to repeat steps 4-6 for your original remote after the new one is programmed.
@PYR Automotive is correct...this happened to me as well, just one fob. So yes, his procedure works just remember to program the spare previously unprogrammed fob first, followed by the "known operational" fob, it will then remove it from memory and assign it to "remote 2#..both will work perfectly then..it did for me, and saved all those dealership fees..
I have a 2015 Chevy Cruze with a flip key but it's a push start, I've followed your steps but when I try to use the keys after programming, it says to insert key into transmitter to start, can you help me please?
f you look at the steps in the description box of the video - you need to repeat steps 4-6 for each additional remote after the first one is programmed.
It can be used but it needs to have been flashed/unlocked. These fobs lock to the vehicle after programming and need to be flashed before they can be used again.
Can I flash the fob or do I have to take it somewhere or is better to buy a new fob key? This is my situation: My only key fob is broken and the only thing that is not broken is the key in the fob, can I buy a new fob from ebay and this video you have should work with my situation? Or I need someone professional to program everything?
You will not be able to flash the fob yourself without the proper hardware and software. You can by a used fob but you need to make sure it specifically says "flashed" "unlocked" or "guaranteed programmable" or something along those lines. Yes, you can use the key out of your old fob in order to program a new one.
What if my the car just is no longer recognizing the key fob when you get into the car....note that this happened after the rear view mirror was snatched off the windshield and the wires broke.
Usually when the fob stops being recognized I would recommend replacing the battery in the fob but if it happened right when your mirror was ripped off I would guess that's the issue. Have you checked your fuses to see if any are blown?
honestly I don't know any of the fuse numbers off the top of my head but I just thought some of the wires that were left from the mirror may have ground out and popped a fuse. You may just want to take some time and just check them all. Other than that I'm not sure what to suggest.

What happens if all the steps are followed and nothing happens?
If you're getting the vehicle into programming mode but the remote is not responding, there may be an issue with the remote you are using
Why is this not working
Who was the asshole engineer at Chevrolet that came up with a 30 minute process to reprogram a key? Damn thats insane.
Same guy that thought a push start was an extraordinary idea 💡
Title says Chevy Cruze but the car is a Cadillac. Different procedure for a Cruze.
they’re both GM. they made them the same processes.
thats a Cadillac
Yeah its an XTS in the video - this proceudre works on many different GM models
How do you program multiple key fob for a 2016 Cruze???
If you look at the steps in the description box of the video - you need to repeat steps 4-6 for each additional remote after the first one is programmed.
