    James Lanfear gives a masterful display of his craft. As well as each lure being a work of art, they catch fish!! Top video Graham!! Lets see you catch some big GTs on one of his lures.

    The Totally awesome fishing show. Not only the best fishing show on youtube but the most diverse! Theres vidoes of fishing (obviously), rigs out of coat hangers, how to make dog kennels, painting houses and now making lures! This is a very good video because i can't imagine the satisfaction of catching a fish on a lure you made yourself. I guess you could do a sort of "match the hatch" thing where you could make a custom lure that is the right shape, size, type and colour as the fish that are swimming in your local water! Great stuff guys!!

    Excellent video. I've just taken up fishing again after a 20 year absence, always was a predator fisherman. I'm a knifemaker, and have a decent workshop, and after watching this.. I'm gonna give it a go. Thanks for the walk through of how they are made. Much appreciated! :)

    Those are beautiful lures, I have no doubt about their catching capabilities. They look much nicer than anything big lure companies mass produce and as a result of their appearance, I'm sure they catch far more fish. Wouldn't mind contacting him for a few for the beach, thank you for posting this great video.

      what do you mean?

    • @myorganicfarmers1472
      @myorganicfarmers1472 4 года назад

      measure it where you need to bend it and then bend it if your doing through wire

    • @DanEvan
      @DanEvan 4 года назад

      That’s because he does a traditional tail wrap and then covers it in epoxy. If you go to Jim’s Lures on Facebook you’ll see this example many times. I personally think it doesn’t look very clean. Either show your trap wrap off with pride or make a wire harness using crimps at both ends and make a longitudinal cut along the lure belly and fit the harness in with your adhesive of choice and some sawdust

    This is one of the best tutorials I have seen, your lures are really awesome! For the bigger lures that you would use for GT and tuna, what kind of wood are you using? And also, the through wire that you use on the bigger lures, is this looped and then the wire twisted around the main wire ( similar to a haywire twist almost) ?

    I'm a wood machinist I work with the same machines on a much bigger scale than this. But please tell him to use a smaller thinner blade!! Using a blade that size should be for just straight cuts!! And with his hands so close it's really really really likely he's gonna slip or the blades gonna lock up and rip a finger up!
