Thank you, I was able to replace the cable at my Toyota Aurion 2009 with your guide. Had to increase the tension a bit by adding an extra buffer before the ending. The release mechanism wouldn't work otherwise. But that's because I am using a $90 cable from Amazon rather than the original Toyota one. It's great that these older cars allow you to do a lot of the mending yourself. My dad would be proud. He fixed his own car in the 90s too.
@@bounder97 have you used the eyeson daughter board for your vista? If not I would highly recommend it. It allows you to remotely monitor your system. Great add-on and great folks over there at eyeson. If not would make for a great new video series.
@@llN3M3515ll Actually, I bought one about 6 months ago. I was going to teach myself how to install and program it and then make a video. Major life changes have that on hold temporarily. However, I do look forward to installing it. I also have heard good things about it. Do you know if the folks at Eyeson have any training material for installing the unit? I have not researched it yet.
What a fantastic video. Very detailed and easy to understand. No wonder the mechanics charge so much. It is a lot of work but doable if you are handy. Thanks for all tips 😀
Very helpful, but I simply soldered an extension to the broken section of wire of the release cable. Still no clue why it decided to randomly snap. My 2006 looks a little different, but the process for getting to the trunk latch is basically the same. Thanks for the video :D
to call this video "very good" is a total UNDERSTATEMENT, I AGREE WITH the other reviews below FANTASTIC AND GREAT CAMERA WORK Francis Ford Copolla Bounder 97 thank you!!
This is an outstanding video. Very detailed. Just what I was looking for. Thank you very much for all your time and effort at developing this tutorial.
I'm very glad to hear that. Stay tuned. Tommorow I will be posting how to replace your radiator. Your car is old enough that it should be going bad anytime now. Don't worry, its a piece of cake to replace. I just replaced my 2004 camry radiator.
Crazy how it's always the trunk cable that gets worn out with these Camry's. Over time that metal wire attached to the release lever mechanism release gets stretched too far and loses tension. Though it's not mandatory to replace it as long as the gas cable is working fine, it's just an inconvenience to always have to use your key to access the trunk.
Thanks for making this. Just used this vid to do this on my 2016 camry. Mostly the same except there are two bolts instead of one on the rear seat, and the cable had a black tip on one end and a white tip on the other. The black goes in the trunk, the other in the cabin.
Thank you very much!! I'm very shortly going to post a new video on why you need to purchase a new oil dip stick pretty darn quick. Toyota put plastic on the end of our Camry dipsticks. The cars are now old enough that the plastic is prone to break off on the inside of the engine! Took me two days to remove it before I could start the engine!!
I'm very sorry, I don't know. I don't own a Lexus. So I have never worked on one. I would imagine that since the Camry is just the poor man's Lexus, it might work.😃
This's the best clip I've seen on youtube for trunk cable replacement. Many many thanks!!!!
Wow, thanks!

Wear did you buy this part from

This looks like a pain, im gonna just buy a new cable and extend it and run it on the outside of the car and drill a hole in the trunk 😂
Ghetto style
Did U get to doing this. Mine gave way today😮
its really not much of a pain if you are confident in what your doing and know what your doing takes maybe 30 minutes
@@TrumpWonThreeTimes ok ill try it. I actually bought the cable
@luckyc336 yeah you learn a lot about the cars interior while doing it too good luck my friend
