Giancarlo just has a knack for playing mastermind characters. Moff Gideon, Stan Edgar, The Dentist, Gus Fring, Anton Castillo. Very enjoyable when he plays one
He is a legend. He can fit into any villian role or anti-hero role. If Samuel L Jackson can be in Marvel, Giancarlo can fit into DC just as well.

I remember many moons ago when he was an up and coming star, he stopped by and did a speech at my school! At that time, the only big named production he was on was School Daze and we thought he was great! Now look at him; from Breaking Bad, to Mandolorian, to The Boys! He’s doing the dang thing!
I wonder if Stan in the show (not in the comics) secretly took Compound V as an insurance policy. He's merely posing as a normal businessman but in reality he has secret abilities that serve as a trump card. Could make for an interesting plot twist in the next season.

And that’s how Homelander feels toward Stan. He feels powerless against Stan because Stan cuts him RIGHT into his insecurities, and knows that as homicidal Homelander gets, his power is only towards being loved or feared. If you have neither for him, he can’t feel like he can do anything.
