Thanks for reacting to the album version of this song! Now you know why BS&T dumped Al Kooper after their first album. Kooper was a talented singer and musician, but David Clayton Thomas's voice was comparable to that of Tom Jones and allowed the horn section freedom from the fear of drowning out David's vocals. What a voice and what a band! You should try "Spinning Wheel", "Lucretia McEvil", "God Bless the Child" or almost any of their songs and you won't be disappointed.
Sometimes I forget that Blood, Sweat and Tears(as a "horn" band)was around before Chicago. Chicago introduced me to horns in rock music......except that BS&T was before them
They were both produced by James William Guercio (who also produced the real proto-horn rock group from the midwest, The Buckinghams, 2 years before either BS&T or Chicago Transit Authority).
@@John_Chu I have always wondered if these bands with their great music did their own studio productions(I know that the Beatles had George Martin produce for them), I love their music but not a "fan boy".
“You’ve Made Me So Very Happy “ Perfect title for your RUclips channel!! You’ve made us so happy with your reactions and how much you love and appreciate this great music!! Even if you quit RUclips I hope you’ll continue to listen to this great older music!!!
I was waiting for you to get to this song! This was the 1st song I ever heard by Blood, Sweat and Tears, and it IS outstanding, isn’t it? The 1st time I heard it, I felt it down to my heart and soul. It holds a special place in my heart ✌️🎶
BS&T along with Chicago were early introductions for me to rock music with horns. It coincided with hearing the big band music my dad listened to at the same time, I wad hearing my older brothers rock music and dad's Count Basie and Glen Miller and my mom and her sister with Herb Alpert and The Tijuana Brass.
Music back then, was very experimental. Unlike today, when you turned on the radio, you could hear country, Motown, rock, pop, instrumentals, just about anything. Radio was very alive back then, and definitely more fun!
BS&T is one my favorite bands! Once again it feels like I’m sneaking into my older sister’s room to listen to her albums! My love of music started back in the 60’s. Thanks for taking this ride down memory lane with all of us older folks! So good to know this music isn’t dead!
Great song! Blood, Sweat & Tears is a jazz-rock music group founded in 1967. They are noted for their combination of brass & rock band instrumentation. Especially love their stuff when David Clayton-Thomas joined as their lead singer. They had a lot of great songs such as "Spinning Wheels", "And When I Die", "Hi-De-Ho", "God Bless The Child", "Lucretia MacEvil", "Go Down Gamblin'", "Lisa Listen To Me" etc.
My dad introduced me to this group when I was very young. Every song reminds me of him ❤ Next, check out their songs And When I Die, God Bless The Child, and Spinning Wheel.
BS&T were born out of "The Next Big Thing" later known as "Chicago Transit Authority" & rhen " Chicago "by a Producer that saw them/heard them,& proceeded to round up a horn section, rhythem,& the lead singer had a border restriction so he couldn't cross from Canada(where he's from) to the US until it ran it's course, almost but not quite"Anything You Can Do,I can Do Better" Chi's horns & Terry Kath on the Axe haven't been duplicated
BS&T and Chicago were the two big horn bands of the time-although there were others-Chase-Get It On, Lighthouse-One Fine Morning, the Ides Of March-Vehicle...
I have never listened to Blood Sweat & Tears with headphones. Mostly car radios and my transistor radio back in the late 60's early 70's. So this was amazing to hear. I went and bought the cd while watching this, because I know it's an album I never replaced on CD. More, more plz!! ❤
My favorite song by Blood Sweat & Tears & David Clayton Thomas ❣️❤️🔥 The horns are sooo beautiful as well, thanks for this! Glad you are discovering this sound ☮️
My very first music festival - Toronto 1969 - had BS&T as one of the incredible acts performing......and they were amazing! I had Al Kooper's "Child Is...." album so I was curious about the band with David Clayton Thomas. I wasn't at all disappointed as his voice was so-o-o fantastic! Thanks for reacting to this Shawn and please keep going with your great channel!
All I know is that my mom played this song A LOT on her little record player. 😍It brings back happy childhood memories and I have always loved this song. Thanks, Shawn!! 😃
I’ll never forget seeing this band live in Miami back in 1970, great concert! Loggins & Messina had numerous recordings with great horns as well, check out this live concert (on YT) "Sittin' In Again at the Santa Barbara Bowl (2005) and these track "Trilogy: Lovin' Me / To Make a Woman Feel Wanted / Peace of Mind” (33:25), everyone knows Kenny Loggins but Jim Messina (of Poco fame too) needs his recognition too, great musician, write & vocalist!
😂you made me so happy watching your reaction. Enjoyed your reaction to this great bb&t song more than any of the reaction RUclipsrs I've followed for two years longer than you lol! I've only seen five or six of yours so far but saw one with your wife the other day😅and I couldn't help but think of you two together as I watched your reaction. I think maybe this song is how you feel about her💕so.. thank you baby❣️that's all I got to say!
STAMPEDERS - " Sweet City Woman " Audio Version/ and " Oh My Lady " Audio Version. 1970s Rock Classics w/ groovy BANJO during the Intro in the first song great vocals and Instrumentation too 🎸 🎻🔥🎶 highly recommend these 2 songs
Sometimes you play this song for people who have loved you all the way, throughout your life Good and bad I have a short list of people that i know who Truly love me, warts and all. Thank you! You have made my life worth living. You know who You are.
Here it was the organ that took over for the guitar and with the horns you would never hear a guitar. Also, most of the writers were members of Motown at one time
Yes, this has that "progressive feel" you're describing. You did a great job articulating that about prog rock. I don't know how to explain it, even though it's my favorite kind of music. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
OUTLAWS - " Ghost Riders In The Sky " 1970s Southern Rock/Hard Rock Classics, Vocal Version + Extended Rockin' Music Mix. Highly recommend this Jam DRUMS/BASS & GUITARS are absolute FIRE!! + Vocals are super Groovy 🎸🎸🎤🔥
Shawn , good stuff, suggest: ... "Little green bag" by George Baker Selection...."Games people play" by Joe South....."Rock me gently" by Andy Kim....." So you are a star" by Hudson brothers Actress Kate Hudson father in this group.
One of their big ones but their first album, Child is Father to the Man with Al Kooper was a real gem. Very bluesy. But you know what would make me so very happy, Shawn? If you would review Presence of the Lord by Blind Faith😅
It's really too bad that you're packin' it in, here. I feel as if you'd have eventually made your way to listening to the song Get It On by the band called Chase. It'd be too bad to miss it before you're done.

Excellent suggestions🎉

BS&T is a truly unique group. A fusion of styles: jazz, rock, gospel, and others. You would enjoy their catalog on your personal playlist.

Love my Blood Sweat & Tears to no end. Always been huge fan of David Clayton Thomas's vocals...just a beauty of a song..🎤🎶💖
Fantastic voice

The Buckinghams also had a producer that used horns a couple of years before that time he also went on to produce Chicago
You have to love them all. As my dad said, good music is good music. Couldn't agree more.
I vote for God Bless the Child.
It's not a contest between the singer and the band. It's a collaboration.
Their style of music is called TIMELESS.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This tracks should be dedicated to everyone’s significant other ❤️

One of their best songs - “I Love You More Than You’ll Ever Know” will give the same feels for 6:00, incredible!
With Al Kooper's BS&T :-)

HERE'S A COUPLE MORE GR8'S SHAWN! 💯 SPINNING WHEEL, AND WHEN I DIE 😊 SPINNING WHEEL WAS A HUGE HIT!👍TAKE GOOD CARE SHAWN!
Definitely some jazz elements and some R&B elements to this band. Part of what makes them so fun to listen to.

You gotta hit "Hi-de-ho", the long album cut from their 3rd album.
❤❤❤ Try "Spinning Wheel" next.
For me, it's the drums and bass line.....but it's all perfect.

Listen to Karen Carpenter with headphones!!!
Another classic 70s song 😊
My favorite song by Blood Sweat & Tears & David Clayton Thomas ❣️❤️🔥 The horns are sooo beautiful as well, thanks for this! Glad you are discovering this sound ☮️
I think these guys are like a throwback to the swing jazz era, mixed with rock and blues. Some soul, too, from DCT.
Brenda Holloway I believe is still around and performing. Besides song writer she is a great singer going back from 1960s and gorgeous as well.
She is !

Blood, Sweat and Tears, CCR and Three Dog Night are three of my favorite bands and are totally different from each other. Go figure.
Thanks for the reaction, Shawn!! BS&T are criminally underrated in my book! Don't sleep on "Lucretia MacEvil"!!
One of the Best songs ever❤
Another Great one !!!!!
Lucretia MacEvil (and Lucretia's Reprise) - you won't be sorry.
You do a fantastic job. ❤
SUCH a GREAT TUNE!!! Can't BEAT Blood, Sweat & Tears, Shawn!! SO GOOD!!! Thanks for reacting to this one!! HUGS!!!

This is one of the first albums I bought when I was a preteen. Every song is a gem!
So good. Was proposed to for the first time to this tune… great memory. Great ring 🥰
David Clayton Thomas is so recognisable; truly a one-of-a-kind voice. Love it.
a true classic
Prog Rock, yeah. Like Chicago. Jazzy. How many marching band directors LOVED this group? So much great music to adapt.
God Bless The Child was my favorite song of theirs in the early 1970’s, and it still is!
I love this song by the wonderful Blood Sweat & Tears! 👍👏👏👏🔥🔥♥️
Steve Katz was the guitarist for the band, there are some low guitar ''licks'' just after the singing starts.
I wish they still made feel-good music like this today.
Excellent reaction Shawn! You always have such deep appreciation! 😀 Thank you for such quality reactions! 😀
A real jazzy classic. A masterpiece. I love it. 🎶👍
This song just brings back memories.
Great reaction, Shawn! Thank you!!!
Lots of good tunes from them! The singer, David Clayton Thomas, also played the keyboards. I vote for 'God Bless the Child' next.
Have always loved them
Beautiful Vibe , Shawn .
Deeper Dive Required (DDR) !

Co-written by sisters Brenda and Patrice Holloway, Patrice just before she became one of Josie and the Pussycats.
With Berry Gordy and Frank Wilson.
@@fayesouthall6604 Say what you will about Berry Gordy, but everything with his name on it is usually pretty awesome.
timeless classic song!
💜💜💜
This song is so beautiful and very late 1960’s. I love Lou Rawls version of this song.
Great to watch you h3ar this great music!!😂
This was the 1st album I bought with my own money when it came out! Spinning Wheel was the biggest hit the band had, which is on this album
I love how you always teach me a little something on every reaction you give. thanx
They had a few songs that were their own but mainly they were a cover band .They would jazz up different rock and soul songs
YOU MUST LISTEN TO EARLY BLOOD, SWEAT & TEARS..."I LOVE YOU MORE THAN YOU'LL EVER KNOW". IS BLUESY-SOUL-ROCK CLASSIC!!! IT'S FIRE!!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

You have made my life worth living.
You know who You are.
Nice choice!
I love BS&T, in my opinion their best song is "When I Die".
Speaking of Brenda Holloway, she had a big hit with the song "When I'm Gone". Give it a try
Here it was the organ that took over for the guitar and with the horns you would never hear a guitar. Also, most of the writers were members of Motown at one time

BRASS PROGGGG??? LMAO😊, THAT'LL ACUALLY WORK! 💯👍
Chicago V (the wood on the cover) is, I think, also brass prog. 👍
David Clayton Thomas' voice is right up there with Burton Cummings'.

their background is jazz but to me i call it pop- jazz !
Nest up from BS&T: God Bless The Child.
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Youre so kool bro😂
BST = jazz/rock fusion.
Chicago = rock band with horns.
They had the same producer.
Barry Gordie. Is that the guy from Gordie records? The Mowtown label guy?
I love You More Than You’ll ever know. From their first album. Research Al Kooper.
OOPS! ACTUALLY
