You might be seeing Scania R and S series trucks in the US, in the not too distant future. There is an American called Bruce Wilson who has a channel, and he imported a 1986 R series into the US and made videos about it. He caught the attention of Scania, and they made him an agent for Scania, and they have built him a brand new R770 to show around the US. It came off the production line last week, and Scania are working with US authorities to get the truck authorized to drive on US roads. It think it will be in the US late 2024 or early 2025.
Hi John, yes I follow Bruce Wilson on RUclips as well. Interesting times ahead potentially. I think the biggest problem with Scania in the US will be cost due to the precision and technology on them compared to US trucks but fingers crossed!
@trax909 True, they are more advanced lorries than US built ones. I think they won't do well with the owner/operators because they will be put off by the cab being too small as well.
Honestly don't apologise for 'lacking videos' there is absolutely no need. Joining you on the journey has been excellent and looking forward to seeing where it goes. When you are up and running by yourself how often will you be home vs staying in the truck?
Hi Shaun. So to start with I will be stopping in the truck full time both in the week and weekends as the company allows the drivers to stop in the truck all weekend if they choose to save on expenses and be able to save money. It will be 3 nights away a week running over 6 days due to the distance to long beach and also LA traffic is horrendous apparently. I will find out today though and it is currently 3am and I am heading out to Long Beach for the first time today with my driver trainer
Hi Harry things are really moving fast for you now. You are absorbing everything very well and keeping upbeat. I don't suppose you can push the filming to much but I am sure it will all work out OK. Can I just ask which film editor you use for your Gopro's .I've just bought one after catching the filming bug. Keep up the good work you're doing great. Keith. 🤩
I use editing software called Davinci Resolve. There is a free version on their website. It is professional editing software so there is a learning curve but once you get use to it, it is easy to use. There’s plenty of helpful videos on RUclips to help learn it
Listening to all you have had to absorb made me realise how well you are doing. As I mentioned in one of my earlier comments you are doing what I never had the guts to do when I was young. As you say, when you get a Car and start driving around it will become second nature to you, driving on the right. Things are coming on in leaps and bounds but you have had to put the hard yards in. Look forward to the next vid and all the very best Harry.🚚🚚👍👍
Thanks Peter - Tim replying (Harrys dad). I am starting the drive to take his car to him. We are meeting in Des Moines and then sharing the drive. 2100 miles in total!
Thanks Nigel - I have been to LA and back today. I couldn't film much but I will try and fashion an update. It was crazy going over the mountains and through the desert.
That truck is huge, it looks really smart though. It won’t take you long to used to driving on the other side of the road. I do it when we go over to Poland and it becomes second nature after a while
I will certainly get use to it today. Currently 3am over here and getting ready to head out with my driver trainer for the first time today to California and back
Hi buddy, have you seen the Wee Yorkshire Trucker on RUclips. He has been filming in the US for year's so hopefully you should be ok. Aslong as your company is ok with it .
No worries Peter - Tim (Harrys dad replying). Give DaVinci a try - the free version which is what we use is brilliant, very stable and quality software.
